By default, when I place a call I have the touchscreen locked.
How do I unlock the screen?
Simply touching the "unlock" button does not unlock the screen.
I know it is possible to change the default behaviour to have the screen unlocked during the call but I do not like this setup.
I struggled with this as well, and then looked it up in the online manual, the only way to unlock it is with the D-pad, the silver circle with the Palm logo in it. Navigate with that button to the unlock button and then hit the Palm logo, it will unlock screen and buttons. There is a setting in the Keyguard application (start-settings-keyguard) that lets you change this, simply remove the checkmark and the screen will not lock again.

I can not find a way to unlock keyboard without tapping "Unlock" button on the screen. Does anybody know a solution?
Unlock then *
That is the only other way, so you have to open the keyboard.
can't unlock with '*' key
First: thank you for your replay!
In my keyboard '*' is in blue collor and to access this simbol it should first press blue dot key. That's why I can not unlock with keyboard.
Hi,
you can press the dot and the * at the same time, and it unlocks
Sorry for my english.

I'm always confused/intrigued about this, and why people would want to use the Unlock thing (unless its PIN protected or something??)
My Wizard times out after a minute to a blank screen, at which point pressing the touch screen or any button (except 'power') does nothing. I just tap the 'power' button and it 'unlocks'.
Likewise, I just tap the power button after usage to 'lock' the device immediately before throwing it in my pocket.
This was the functionality out of the box, one of the first things I did was remove the Unlock plug-in from my Today.
I use it, because if somebody calls you, or the alarm start, the wizard switch on automaticaly abd if you have it in the bag, you can call somebody.

Ah right, that probably explains that then.
And don't apologize, its 100% better than my Spanish!
I was messing around the button settings, and it seems like the the only button that can do "press and hold" is button 5.
what I would like to do is program the side "ok" button to press to lock, press and hold to unlock. Any registry gurus or savvy hackers here know if this is possible?
TIA
The Mogul comes with the option of using the power button as a "lock" for the other buttons. You can choose when the device is off to only respond to the power button being pressed.
I think what he is looking for is a button method of initiating the "device lock" application that can be added to the Today screen.
The problem with just using the power button is that if you accidentally press the power button then all the other buttons and screen will work. He's trying to actualy lock the device with a button.
you are almost right ebmorgan, except that you CAN map a button to <lock device> under settings-->buttons, but you CANNOT map a button or map the press and hold button to <unlock device>.
I tried AE button plus, it gave me a lot more options button wise, but still doesn't have a <unlock device> function built in.
My bad....I didn't notice you said "unlock". I was think of locking.
spb software makes a program called "SPB Mobile Shell" and can be found here http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en
This does exactly what you want! The left softkey will lock the device, and the right softkey will unlock it, instead of hitting cancel on screen or the * key.
Although i run this program, but not this option, is because of the "now screen." Which comes up no matter what, when you wake up the device or unlock it, which kinda sucks for what i want.
anyhow, if it's cool for you, then get it and enjoy!
go into the Now screen settings in mobile shell. You can uncheck display now screen box.
The question remains... is there a way to map a program to the "ok" key on the side of the Titan? It really doesn't do anything and its not in the button options. It would also be nice to have the hold option available to the other keys.
Yep, you can uncheck the display now screen box, but then you won't be able to make the right soft key unlock the device, it goes back to "press cancel or *"

Me too! I'm looking for a tweak that will unlock my device by press-and-holding a button. The default 2-step unlock of Windows-Mobile is so annoying especially during bright outdoors.
S2u2 doesn't work for me because you need to swipe the screen to unlock which is bad for less sensitive screens. And it doesn't have transparency so it covers the current app.
I searched everywhere and couldn't find anything, but is there a way to set my wing to unlock when ever I slide the keyboard open. Kind of like how the sidekick works?
Thanks in advance.
if you press the off button at the top of the device, it will not only button and screen lock it, but if you change the configuration, it will also wake up, unlocked.
You can use slide to unlock, which is an iphone looking lock aplet. It makes regular unlocking prettier, and allows unlocking with sliding the keyboard.
Basically, I wrote a private app that generates a different hex number each time it's run, and you have to use a certain algorithm to determine the answer, then input it in binary with a mini-keypad and press the unlock button. That way I can just show anyone what I'm putting in because if they get the phone, they can't use the same code unless the same random number is the same (its seed changes based on currentTimeMillis() / 1000L) Anyway what is the easiest way to make this Activity launch like the regular pattern lock when I turn on screen? also I don't have a lockscreen by default, not an issue. It has to prevent pressing home/back and has to launch without any delay. thanks
doctor there's a bump in my thread what should I do
this is a very good question
the closest i came to finding an answer was the android lock screen src
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=pl.../internal/policy/impl/LockScreen.java;hb=HEAD
Yeah, I cloned the entire source, but it was way too complicated for me to find what I needed. Also, what is the difference between these 4 things?
Keyguard - ?
Lock screen - the screen that has the 'slide to unlock' widget depending on your phone/rom
Unlock screen - the screen where you draw pattern, pin, password, etc.
Wake [lock] - ?
I only have 4 softbuttons, volume +/-, and power on my device, and only power makes the screen come on, which shows WidgetLocker then the pattern screen. Both of which hide the softbuttons unless I hold down power, then it shows power off, airplane, and silent options and the softbuttons panel pops up. This doesn't allow me to press home to bypass pattern/widgetlocker, thankfully.
Halp my thread seems to have a case of severe bumpitis. Is it lethal?
Hi, im starting to use smart lock to use wifi/bt device to unlock my phone (LineageOS 17.1)
works great, but it unlocks to the lock screen, so a swipe is needed. is there a way to unlock directly to home screen when a smart lock device is connected, while keeping the lock screen when no device is connected (default behavior)?
if i enable "unlock directly to the home screen" in the options, power button goes directly to the numpad for unlocking, instead of the default notifications lock screen
i would like to keep the lock screen with notifications but unlock directly to homescreen with smartlock. it is possible?
thanks in advance!
