French language in ROM kitchen

Hi there !
I have flashed Ver 1.1 then 1.2 on my O2-Asia, and several T-Mobile and SX56 of my friends and business partners. No accident so far.
Congratulations and thanks to xda-developers. Even went once to WM 2003, then back to ver 1.2. Never touched radio upgrades though.
Questions from a newbie : can I cook my own ROM in French with Jeff's kitchen ? Assuming I would have a basic ROM (from Bouygues ?), will it mix with other apps in English ? If it works, should I upgrade the radio part too ?

I was thinking of creating some elaborate translation mechanism with lots of search/replace strings for the ROMkitchen. Then I figured most people really only want the keyboard layout and word-completion for the language they speak and the keyboard they're used to.
We have a volunteer currently looking into what would be involved in creating our own keyboard layouts and completion dictionaries. Stay tuned...

well as french using an UK o2 XDA in France i was alson wondering, but i remember trying to put an english rom on my french version ipaq 3 month ago, i realized that bootloader of the device is also looking for language so that i was not able to update it to wince 2003 eng cause it was e franch device.
actually to solve my problem on the xda which is only for me to manage a azerty keyboard with french accent i use a software that change the keyboard.
That would be great to have the diferent language dictionaries, keyb and os language files nevertheless, but seems to be quite a hard job ...

Agree that most of us will be happy only to have a French layout keyboard. For the rest, English is now the universal computer language, whether we like it or not : we must do with it.
BTW which kbd software do you use ?

Language

I accedently bought a P3300 with swedish language when I need it in english. Can I make some upgrade or anything to get it in english? Maybe just a rom upgrade, and where do I find these roms?

Of course you can change to english when you're flashing to another rom - there are a lot of different ROMs here (cooked/modified or shipped ones)...
The only thing you'll have to do before upgrading is installing USPL, otherwise you'll brick your phone....
just read the wiki pages, there you'll find all informations you're searching for

That's not necessarily "the only thing" you'll have to do. When I changed the language of my wife's phone from English to Finnish, I also needed to tweak the country code of the WM6 software ("original HTC"). So I opened the RUU file in WinHexEdit, wrote down the country code of English WM6 and after that I opened the RUU file of Finnish WM6 software. I changed the country code to an English one (needed to change 6 hex digits), saved it and after that I just launched the EXE file of Finnish WM6. Worked.
Well, changing the Swedish language to English one may be easier since there are lots of tweaked ROMs around but if you'd do it other way round (English->Swedish), you'd definitely have to tweak the country code of Swedish ROM since there aren't any tweaked Swedish ROMs available, are there?
Now I just wish that someone could tell me how to tweak the country code of HTC Home program???

There is not a pure Greek Polaris ROM. The ROM is the well known WWE and ACE Hellas put its Greeks on it. You can't load ACE's Greek in a non-Greek device because ACE Hellas has a a database with all the IMEIs of Greek devices. If you haven't bought your device from Greece and you try to load the ACE's Greek on it, your device will stop working and will demand a hard reset.
In conclusion... there is nothing you can do about it.

So if we want to have Greek we can only use a cooked rom!!!Correct?

If there will be a good amount of people interested in this, i am sure that swtos will give a try, not for a ROM exactly as ACE's, but a better one!!!

Wm6.1 builds, have many problems with wm6 greek muis. So, if you like a wm6
Greek build , i'll cook one.
If you like wm6.1 latest builds, you'll have to wait ....

i think this is the best for the moment.a wm6 rom exactly with the same aplications,touch flo...,but in Greek.by the way swtos i have many problems with gsm network,do you know why?

Please Swtos when you have time cook a wm6 Greek Rom.!!!A lot of Greek guys will be waiting this.

I think it would be good, NOT to exclude any HTC software (Touch, keyboards, e.t.c.)
Do the rom, as the Original. And don't install any software or task managers, that you like.
Let the rom clean, so that we can put the software we like.

German Rom 6.1 request

Is there anybody working on a 6.1 in German?
I'm reading a lot here, but i think i'm still to noob, to do it for my own.

you could try bepe 0.67 rom its also in german and i use it 2 month now without any issues.

Personally I'd rather have a working German Diamond keyboard than a German ROM

I'd like to have a good german rom, too.
But, except for bepe's roms, there is nothing in sight.
If I knew how I could do it, i'd translate a rom. But I don't know where I could get the necessary files and I don't know the necessary procedures to compile a rom.

I will be makeing a multilanguage rom for Prophet and Kaiser. I plan on releasing it for Nike and Polaris too.... My girlfriend has a Nike that I need to talk her in letting me flash ... I will upload a Polaris beta WWE rom here soon for testing because I don't have a Polaris and if everything is fine I will make it multi language too. The roms will be in ENG, ESN, ITA, NLD, FRA, GER, DAN, NOR & PTG and maybe other languages too.

I have this phone but have a problem- how to set English display language. I read in this forum - i must find a English rom... or... i am not shure. Can u help me?

you can not change the language in windows mobile, you have to use an English ROM.
unfortunately, Acer has not yet released ROM updates, nor are there custom ROMs available yet. But check back the forum regularly, there is one in the making.

you need to flash a different ROM, if you want a different language, period.
a device can only contain a single language a time, so you need to install a different Windows Mobile (in form of a ROM image). Why haven't you bought an English device to begin with?

I bought it from ebay. There is no information to display language.

you need one specific for the neoTouch S200.

Did you try to change regional settings (start, settings, system, regional settings). I always had an english device but this maybe will help you so you can read english.
What language do you have?
While waiting for an english rom, you may install/try SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 which works fine on S200 and choose enlish as your language. This will help you alot. At least you will use your mobile decent.

You need mui files for language you want eg 0415 are for polish language then change some registry entries...I've made polish language for TG01 and the only problem are settings from Toshiba(they don't use mui files ;/)

2 days ago i bought S200 and now i have the same problem
It`s french WM and it's .....aaaah no comment :/
I need english language (or polish)
I will try install SPB maybe it helps me for a few days...
But if someone will find english WM for s200 please share somewhere...

First You must know how to hard reset Your phone with button combination (messing with registry entries can lead to the hangups or make your system unbotable) second so far i know changing language on french/german TG01 to the English made system unbotable(that was Toshiba Keyboard SIP problem) and didn't translate much of the system... i didn't seen anywhere english mui files so easier would be to translate language to Your native using mui files from rom with close build number with one installed on Your phone

Hi everyone!
First of, as first time poster I'd like to say thankx to everyone who maintains this site and everyone who contributes with everything, from they're kitchen's best meals to any crazy ideas, I've been taking advantage of that for last month or so
But for this one I've found no answer, so here goes:
Yesterday I bought an Acer S200 F1 neoTouch yada yada yada...
I live in Portugal, so it comes with portuguese version of WM 6,5 which is horribly translated, making me, therefore, prefer the english version. I've never actually seen one of these with english version for sale here.
So I went around fishing for a way to change the language, I downloaded the official english version rom update from Acer's website, extracted it, replaced the ACER_EUU.exe with the cracked one, and it flashed smoothly.
However, EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn on the phone it hangs up, sometimes on the WM logo, sometimes during network search (shortly after WM is loaded I guess). Then it reboots all by itself, and then it works sort of ok.
I think I've described the process quite extensively, obviously, either I'm doing something wrong, or this method is not even supposed to work.
So I flashed the portuguese version back to the phone using the exact same method as described above, only not with english rom of course, and it is back to working as it should... in awful badly translated and cropped portuguese.
Should anyone know a way to get around the hang-ups I get with the english version, I'd be so grateful!

Why don't you try one of the Rafyvitto's roms. They are english and good looking.

Indeed. I'm using v2.7-vanilla, no crashes to date.
But I'm kind of obsessive, and rafyvitto's roms althought working much like they should, they have stuff built in which I think have no business being there. In this vanilla 2.7, as an example, title bar makes no sense as WM already has it's own way of doing the same (I think) I'm a noob to WM, so this might be a complete nonsense. Then there are bugs, such as the keyboard not showing/hiding properly during a call (I have to tap the button as if double clicking, and the button's description displays a wrong message ("hide" when it's hidden, "show" when it's being shown already) and sd-card encryption can't be turned off.....
Small things which make my day a little worst
Still, I appreciate rafyvitto's work, as the possibility of choice he provides us with is priceless =)
EDIT: as of the release of the new official rom's from acer (EUU_Acer_S200_3.003b.00_EN_03.03.08_3.003.01_20100119.zip) I am able to change the language from portuguese to english without the hangups I mentioned earlier!

are there mui files for every part of the os? like settings, programs, clock, messaging etc?
would it be possible to take the mui files from a german rom rename them from mui.0407 to 0409 install a new english rom and replace the mui files with the german renamed ones?
of course with a programm that allow replacing rom files like resco explorer or total commander?
if so maybe i even could get some german htc manila mui files from originial htc leo rom and rename and replace the ones of the acer s200 leo roms to have a part german rom ?
