I am currently using WAD2.0 and very happy with it...
Just wondering what is Manilla 2D and what is TF3D - these are apparently "all the rage" and just wondering what I am missing??
can someone explain in basics what each of these are?
are they just skins to appear like the Diamond?

no they are not skins they are the 'new' htc home apps from the diamond (tf3d) and the jade (manilla 2d). You can't run tf3d on your vogue so don't bother, I've been running manilla 2d for quite a while and I really like the ease and flow of the interface. the best was to put it on your vogue is with a new rom that includes it, however you can also install it using the downloads from the thread in the dev/hacking forum.
Try it, you'll probably like it.
thanks ; when you say "home apps" do you mean that manila replaces the Today screen.

also, i searched for a .cab for manilla, but cant find it - there numerous skin, manilla-hack threads, etc, but please link me to the cab install thread. Thanks!!!!
if you get a rom with it already included you can install manilla controll and switch back to a second today screen using a softkey.

Currently im using Battery-Status + UltimateLaunch...It's very stable, but i don't like the theme anymore...also it doesnt support landscape...
So i want a new "Today Plugin".
"Wishlist" for the TodayPlugin:
- Portrait + Landscape Support
- Good looking (maybe a "modern" style)
- Stable (no Beta's, besides its stable!)
- Today-Screen integration (No MobileShell,PointUI,..., cause it's a "lay-over"-App(Reason for this: With this apps you need a hack/workaround, that the original today screen is NEVER shown!))
- low requirements (fast)
- Customizable (Define Program Pages, and define my own sms,mail,calendar,... -apps)

Truth is there is nothing that is %100 how you requested. Not yet anyway.
You have three you can look into:
Throttle Launcher (My favorite---ThrottleLauncher.com)
Manilla2D
GSmart
There is also HTC Home, but I think your more into the above stuff.
You must at least try Manila2D (TouchFlo2D).

I've tried Manilla 2D and...wow, THIS is what im searching for
BUT i have a lot of problems with it...

the zip file "manila.zip" (the first downloadlink in this post) and installed all apps, including the 12MB big cab "Manila2D_1.00_1819.2926.CAB"
then i installed the manilla2D configuration tool...
then i've downloaded the german translation, an copied all files in the "windows" folder of the archive to my windows-folder of my device...
then i've downloaded the "bliss" theme (tsk+wall) and copied it also in my windows folder...then i activated the tsk file...
after this, m2d was starting...but i have following problems with it:
- If i switch to landscape, m2d stays portrait...so the bottom items are cropped...
- i cant see any text on the home tab....i can see the icons of "calendar" and "missed calls", but i CAN't see any text next to it! same problem on the "settings tab"...just the icons, no text...the same problem in the HTC album (if i click on a picture in the picture tab the album shows up...if i click the bottom right icon, i can see 4 lines..i think these are the options, but i cant see any text!!
- if i go to the weather tab, i cant see anything...blank screen...(maybe its the same issue, such as the "no-text"-issue in the tabs i mentioned above?)
- in the sms tab sometimes, there is "(null)" instead of the date...in the mail app this "(null)" is ALWAYS shown instead of the date...
- where can i download themes for m2d and add it in the m2d configuration tool?
- and is it normal, that i have to overwrite the background-png in the "manilaGFX" folder to gain my own background in m2d??

Dude, I know that you are confused, but everything is in the Manilla thread.
This thread shouldn't be opened.
the plugin (application) in my opinion would best meet all your requirement is wad 2, eventhough it is not free but you can download a trial version. it is highly customizable and you can find some very beautiful and modern looks. this is best application if you want to replace your desktop.
p.s recommended for advanced users only

does the cab "manila customizer" exist for the touch HD?
I'm was using it with my Touch pro but with my HD, it works but due to the differnet screen size, some menu buttons are missing.

I think Im with the original poster. There appears to be some buttons missing to actually set a change of icons etc.

Got it working on mine. Not ideal but good enough to get things changed.
Heres what I did -

Start the program from start>programs>vmode switch.
Select 480x640
Then press home button>programs
OPen Manila customizer and customize.
When finished, do a soft reset.
Worked on mine.
maybe someone will find a way of switching it (vmode) off when youve finished with manila customizer.

I've installed Touch Flo 2D Manila2D_1.00_1819.2926-xplode.CAB on top of Sundreams ROM.
This ROM rocks and it very fast on my BA with apps installed. OCed the BA using XCPUScalar.
However I've got a problem with the adding Programs shortcuts in TouchFlo (launcher tab). After selecting the program, the form closes and no program is added to the shortcut. The + remains a +. Anyone experienced this problem?. Is there a way to add the shortcuts manually in a configuration file?.
Also where can I configure TouchFlo settings?
Also the front screen calendar is too basic for my taste. I used SPB diary. How can I use a more advanced calendar with TouchFlo (shows 5 days or more)?.

Well as regards to the launcher, I have added the applications manually via registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila2D\Launcher, however the application do not run when clicked on. Icons appear as a 'blank icon' rather than '+'

As far as the calendar, no one seems to have been able to use a different calendar as of yet. Having said that, there is one alternative that I am using right now (with which I am pretty happy). There is a program in the Dev and Hacking section that is called Manila Control

This will allow you to switch back and forth between Manila and Today (just set up an Up-Down gesture with FTouchFlo Config). You can then put any Today plugin that you want (ie SPB Calendar) and just switch to it when you need to see your calendar. Hope this helps you on that end.

Thanks for feedback. I have managed to find a workaround via registry. I did'nt add the "uptime" key before. Once added the icons are functional and show up.
Ive heard that there is a version of Manila 2D that can be used while still keeping the cube? If anyone knows the link to get this version, can you please share.

BTW: I have a Niki 100 if that helps.
it depends on biotouch.exe version.
If you use original one (That come's with original niki's rom), you can use manilla and cube both.

with the old version (0.07), u can choose between manilla homescreen and htc homescreen. But in this version, the cube runs very slowly

This was a very good job from animelover, and it is ok for me. Previously I could not perform any call, but this could be solved after changing to the correct radio version.
So I have no cube, but a Manila2d german version

Use the old manilla version cab. Important is, to install both HTC Settings and HTC Settings Improovement cabs. As I got it running on my comet (atom life) with original WM6.1, it should be possible.
I'll try to make a cab the other day, but it will take some time, as I'm really busy although I have got some days off now.
