Control Pc - XPERIA X1 General

Is there a way for the xperia to control a windows xp while on a wireless network or usb activesync?

you can setup remote desktop thru windows or use logmein.com--I prefer logmein cause its faster. Just create a free account and install the client on any PCs you want to control, then go to logmein.com on your xperia and you can connect to any of them.
I will also add that logmein looks amazing with the high res screen of xperia

You've also VNC clients like .net vnc client which is freeware & Mocha VNC which is shareware & install ultravnc on your pc ! but if you are not using a home premium edition of vista or xp (which does not contain any rdp server without hacking), use its std remote desktop ! you have a cab for rdp client on xda-forum & by using the search feature of the forum, you should also find a big thread comparing all remote desktop solutions !

Real VNC

I have Real VNC installed on my desktop system and cant access it through my jasjar web browser its just comes up a blank page, anyone know of a way to access realvnc form the jasjar, it would be soooo coooooll
Thanks
Chris
You have to go into the VNC properties on the PC and click the legacy tab - then tick the Only Use Protocl v3.3 box.
It wont look good though as WM5 uses pixel doubling by default so everything will be big If possible, use the inbuilt Terminal Service client (ie if your PC is running XP, 2003 or 2000 server) or see the below link which tells you how to hack pocketpc apps to enable them for VGA resolution;

Good luck!
Alternatively you could get rid of VNC and register with www.logmein.com which works like a dream through my XDA IIi
VNC
Just found this and it works perfectly and is excellent to look at too,
http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/
Cheers
Chris
I am using the .NET VNC Viewer 1.0.1.16.
Was working fine with VNC Server Free Edition, v4.1.1 but settings imported to 3.3.
However, all of a sudden one night - and no settings had been changed - I get a message on my Exec saying "The server is not a VNC server!"
The IPs are the same, the MAC addresses are the same. Nothing changed from one night to the other, yet now I cannot access despite reinstalling the server side software. Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Does XP have Terminal Server capabilities?!
How does one run a Terminal Server on XP Pro?

Can Windows Mobile Remote Desktop work over Bluetooth?

Hi there,
I was wondering if Windows Mobile Remote Desktop (with WM6.1) can possibly work over Bluetooth. I have my computer and mobile connected via Bluetooth ActiveSync, and I have my computer configured to allow remote desktop, however, I can't seem to get the two to connect.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!

highly doubt it, RDP runs on a tcp/ip based network. i dont think that htc phones are capable of that over bluetooth

Yes they are.
remote desktop over bluetooth works fine, i prefer to use realvnc for remote desktop connections though and mocha vnc client software on the PPC , in my opinion its much better than MS remote desktop software
I wish I could figure out why it isn't working then. All the settings seem to be correct. I'll need to try and hunt down a guide somewhere, or I will fiddle and get it working and write one
HI JADEL,
You can use app like BTREMOTE it's a client/server based application allowing you to control most of your apps on the PC.
Try it.

Hi there, I own a HTC TUCH HD, and I want to be able to get remote desktop over bluetooth!
I see you know how to do that, so if you would not mind giving me a short tutorial on what should I do?
thx
it works just fine over bluetooth but not over activesync connection you need to use PAN
when you connect it log out the user disconnecting the activesync connection
thats not the case with bluetooth PAN and wifi
how you set it up is not really a wm question all the setup required is on the pc
and the same setup that you need if using remote desktop from another computer
so google got piles of guides how you turn on remote desktop on the pc and open the ports it require in the firewall
thank you very much for the answer!

So this cab allows you to access your pc/laptop from you mobile while out and about... do I have that right? If so that is very handy... woo hoo things just got a bit better...
I use this Remote Desktop for connecting to an internal Server for administrating it with my X1. It works like a charm since this tool uses the whole screen (set "Full screen" & "Fit remote desktop to screen" under "Options" for working at a Resolution of 800x480). From the Windows server a remote installed Putty forwards to the internal linux servers, the remote RDP-Client to the other Windows servers
I love my job
You could also try LogMeIN (www.logmein.com) which gives you access to your system from any pc worldwide over a secured connection.
They offer a free version and also supply an ActiveX Plugin for Windows Mobile (only working on IE, not Opera bytheway).
On your home pc you have to install a small server component then go to www.logmein.com, log in with your account name and voila: you can access the pc no matter if there are routers and/or firewalls in the way. On Desktops it also works with Java if ActiveX not allowed/installed.
Works like a charm....

Win Mobile RDC
if you search the forums there should a cab for win mobile remote desktop client (RDC). works fine on my X1 but I have to use ip-address as of the remote PC to connect as it seems unwilling to resolve the computer name. that might be my wireless config though as its shut down pretty tight!
don't remember the exact post link but a quick search should locatee it for you!

Remote Desktop software

hi all, forgive my ignorance but I would like to use my hd 2 to remotely access my home computer while out. I see the hd2 comes with remote desktop software but from what I can tell it can only be used to control computers on a lan, i.e. I'd need to be in the same domain anyway. is this correct?
z2 remote to pc is a decent piece of software ive used in the past, how well does it work on the hd2? would this new the nearest software to my needs?
tia!
its like the desktop version. it can work over the internet aswell.
Thanks - from what I've read it also supports pinch-to-zoom which is fantastic.
The only thing that concerns me is just how secure Remote Desktop is on the client side (WinXP). I guess a lot of it is down to the user to secure things, I found a decent guide here on how to minimise brute force attacks.
What appealed to me about z2 remote pc from a security point of view is that it required its own usernames/passwords to be set up as opposed to using actual Windows users and supported up to 256bit AES encryption, good stuff!
I figure I'll try both again and see how they perform.

Remote desktop from Microsoft is extremely safe to use...
For one, it uses 128-bit encryption (RC4), you login using the same login mechanisms as the windows machine... and no user with blank password or not-admin can login, so you don't suffer from that, either...
Hi guys,
You can use Logmein Hamachi Network to extend access for computers.
Go to Logmein, create an account and create a network with Hamachi.
Install Hamachi on computer do you want to connect remote, like home and work computers.
Hamachi is a VPN Network software you can use Remote Desktop Mobile to access yours computers in Hamachi Network.
There is a client for logmein Hamachi that works on HD2. Join to your Hamachi Network and use a IP Address of your computer on RDP Mobile.
The solution with Logmein Hamachi is excelent. Remote Desktop Mobile make a great job and Logmein Hamachi can connect 16 computer anywhere for free.
Try and let me know your opinion.

[App] Need APK Remote Desktop Sharing over WiFi

Hello people....I'm looking for an APP that let me manage my PC Desktop over WiFi, I mean, no internet connection or server through like does Team Viewer...
Something like HOST and CLIENT using only WiFi connection...
any idea?
thanks in advance
Xtralogic did a Remote Desktop Client to control your PC via your phone - worked over wifi (assuming both PC and phone are on the same wifi)
Is that what you mean?
Failing that I did try LogMeIn once which seemed ok cross wifi networks
Realvnc or any other vnc server on your desktop.
Androidvnc or any other vnc client on your phone.
I have installed Xtralogic on my phone already, but which one do you recommend for serving like HOST or Server on Windows PC?

It just uses the native windows RDP stuff - just needs enabling on the pc - i.e. right click my computer, properties, remote connections, allow remote connections.
As mentioned already, I heard VNC is good too.
Try team viewer
wyse seems to have the best interface (ive seen) and is simple to use.
you can get remote desktop with just google user name.
I used to use remote RDP enterprise which was also good.
