[UTIL] MobileMonger - Whats using up your Storage?

Hi all,
I have lurked on this forum many times and have found it very useful especially in terms of my recent ROM update issues with my new Diamond .. which turned out to be the HK version - gah! .. but that is another story.
I just wanted to let people know that I have written a tool to show storage space use on your Windows Mobile in a TreeMap. There probably are other tools like this kicking around, but I couldn't find one that was any good.
Main Memory fills up pretty fast on the Diamond if your not careful to install absolutely everything to the storage card, and also set your default save location to the storage card.
The screen shot below is of the app and the Main Memory of my Diamond after I found and killed off the offending files.

I am curious to find out if anyone will find it useful. I have put it on several phones of guys I work with and they have found all sorts of garbage clogging up their phones.

working fine and showing all...
in yr pic i can see you are using the app in portrait but it takes all the screen.
warning: this app is better viewed in landscape. this mean i have to stop tf3d and rotate the screen or use the gtool....in portrait the app is 1/3 of the screen. anything i should know? vga/qga related?
i can not see any garbage but this might be as a result of intensive use of SkTools and it's cleaning tools.
opera is a monster in device and iGO8 is the champion on my internal memory.
i'll take a better look in the evening.

Yeah - I'm not handling the switch to landscape mode, however if you start the app while already in landscape mode it should be fine.
I'm using the HTC stock ROM in my Diamond so I'm not really sure how to disable TF3D and change into Landscape. However its fairly easy to change the code to handle the event and have it recalc for the new dimensions. Will put it in 1.1! Shouldn't take long

Oh yeah - and something that is probably not obvious to everyone is that you can click on the folders to zoom-in and take a closer look at the folder contents.
Maybe I should underline the folder names or colour them blue or something ... Hmmm.. will have a think about that.

lol i already tried with no success! maybe because is too small (1/3 of the screen).
btw, disabling tf3d is easy. go to settings/personal/today/items and disable the tf3d like any other plug in . after that you''l have the "old" today screen.
go to settings/system/screen and rotate yr screen.
i did the above, rotate the screen and open yr app but again i got only 1/3 of the screen!

Thanks for telling me about the Setting->Today->Items. That did indeed turn off TF3D, but then on the Settings->System->Screen couldn't find the screen rotate thing. There are three tabs (Alignment, Clear Type, Text Size) - It is 1am here, perhaps it will be there in the morning.

i have 3 tabs also: general, clear type, text size.
on general you have on the top of the tab "orientation" with 2 options "portrait" and "landscape" and underneath you have "align screen".

Hmmm checked it again this morning but its still not there - HTC must have taken it out of their latest stock ROM (I'm on 1.93.831.1)
Oh well - I tested it in the emulator and new version (1.1) handles the orientation change fine now
Can you tell me if it works for you on your Diamond? 1.1 CAB is here

Tried doing the rotation automatically using GSen with v1.1, rotates the screen and app fine but can take up to 15 to 20 seconds to rotate.

Could you try 2 scenarios for me?
- Start up the app and then rotate to landscape before doing a scan
- Start up the app, do a scan and let it render, then rotate.
If there is a major time difference in the time taken to rotate between these two scenarios, then the problem is something to do with MobileMonger. Otherwise it must be something else. Hmm.

Did that and the screen and app rotate instantly.
- Start up the app, do a scan and let it render, then rotate.
Doing the above and it's a little quicker, but still takes and average of 10 secs to rotate once the results are displayed.

looks like a great tool , is this QVGA compatable ?

Yes - should be - I have DPI detection to change the font sizes up for devices less than 192 DPI ... i.e. 320x240. Obviously since there are less pixels the folder depth displayed can be less ... but on the up-side rendering is faster

I got mine pre-release from Hong Kong and since had a difficult time getting the official updated 1.93 stock ROM for it. (It came with 1.34!!!)
3 do not offer the Diamond as one of their supported phones, but I can tell you its works really well (Just have to get the URL for their Planet 3 service - which I have if you need it)
I'm on the $8(100MB) data plan and have push HTML email from Exchange 2007 enabled with full attachments - and it works very well. Small email takes 5 seconds from the time it hits exchange to then hit my phone.

Doesn't rotate programs on the Touch Pro here, but it can somehow rotate the TouchFlo interface.

Same on HTC Diamond. Rotates main screen (messes up graphics for the icon tab) but still rotates it. Wont rotate anything else i tried so far.

- Make sure you have the .NET Compact Framework v3.5 installed. It will work with 2.0, but can have issues (I've run my tests with 3.5)
Also, there are known issues with the touchflo interface. Normally screen rotation is completely disabled on the diamond to remove any possibilities of program messing up, so it's bound to cause issues i'm afraid. When I ran tests on my device, I didn't come across any errors, although I have completely removed TF3D from my diamond.
Can you try and make the error happen again, and record the steps you took to make it happen, as well as all the information the error window gives you, and i'll try and correct the problem.
Edit 1: Forgot to add that the library cannot retrieve orientation information on some devices with certain roms installed, but that's out of my control i'm afraid. It will affect all programs that rely on the "Sensors" sdk library.
Edit 2: Can you also tell me which roms (OS/Radio) you are using as well, as this will likely be related to the problem in some way (See Edit 1)

As I mentioned in a previous post, Manilla (Touch Flo 3D) is known to cause problems in non-portrait orientations...
The options are in the top of the right softkey menu, there's 3 of them:
Enable Rotation
Enable Sounds
Enable Images

Application is ver similar as gsen in regards to Telus Mobility Diamonds.
Rotation does not work except for within the programs list. Any where else (text messages, ie, etc) absolutely does not work

Yeah, i'm afraid that's a limitation of the library which has been made availabel to us. It Telus want to go and destroy the ROM/device, then unfortunately we have no control over it. It's like T-Mobile removing 64MB of the RAM when they changed the shell, it's only got 128MB now. I do wish I knew why companies like to bastardise perfectly good phones, then sell them on as if they were the same... It's quite insulting sometimes...

Thanks for this mate,works like a charm.Tried the rotation out on most of my programs and it works flawlessly.My contacts rotate fine and the text message also,the text input even changes to full qwerty keyboard on rotation,amazing.

I've disabled TouchFlo 3D on my device, so unfortunately I can't get the window title/class for it, to add it to the blacklist. If you would be kind enough to find the class for it (i'm guessing the entire today screen) then it can be added to the configuration file for all to see.
I've added the "Applications.ini" file to my server for folk to download. this will be updated more frequently than the application, so keep an eye out for changes

I don't think it likes my Touch Pro. It works fine using File Explorer but that's it. After trying to test it out in the all settings and all programs menus it gives the error that Levka posted.

As other users have stated, as well as myself in the first post, it suffers form the generic error what all programs using the GSensor library. It has been covered in the GSen program info page too...

As previously stated, i'm afraid this is out of my control, although hopefully in the near future, the library will be improved, and will be able to deal with these "different" devices. As soon as support has been improved, i'll be sure to include it in my latest build.

Usage:
The usage is very simple. Just use fingertips to start or stop a timer (d-pad action). If you want to reset a timer, hold down your finger for 500ms (d-pad action for 500ms). To modify the settings of a timer, tab on the left side icon and the settings will open (d-pad left).
The top notification bar is showing radio strength, battery status, bluetooth status, wireless status and some other informations. Tab on the left side of the top bar to open the main settings screen (or use north gesture, d-pad right). To hide the application click the middle part of the top bar (or use south gesture). To close it click the right side of the top bar.

Installation:
Copy and run the CAB file on your device. You will find a shortcut to TouchWatch2 in your programs startmenu.
If you get an error that some DLL is missing: This can happen with some ROMs. Extract and copy the files located in the "TouchWatch2 DLLs.zip" into the "\Programs\TouchWatch2" directory and maybe TouchWatch will execute.

Great App! Absolutely love it and use it daily!
2 things:
1) When my phone goes into stand-by, the alarm does not go off - just a quiet vibration.
2) The top bar is very, very tiny. It's impossible to click the area to minimize or close the app.
Suggestion: Add soft-keys on the bottom bar, like Menu (close; minimize; about) and Settings on the other side.
I'm using it on:
Sprint HTC Touch Pro; WM6.1pro; VGA screen

It's designed to work on all resolutions. But it's only tested in emulators. Please report your reesults here.

No problem for me, just working fine on trinity except the fact that's it's for wwe rom, the cab doen't put the fonts in the "police" folder on my french rom so it made an error. I created a Fonts one to put the .ttf and all works fine. Thanks for sharing.

On my Tytn2 with WM6.1(HTC dutch Rom) it doesnt even start.
I get the following error:
DirectoryNotFoundException
I do have Net CF 3.5 installed.

Won't start on a Touch 3G - it reports "An unexpected error has occurred in TouchWatch2.exe" and "This application requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on the device." - which is very unlikely given that this is a brand new handset from HTC with ROM dated October 2008 ?

Congratulations for TouchWatch application! Like it over G-Watch for one main reason, I was able to minimise it to do other stuff.
I'm running it in a TyTN II. Works great.
I've some suggestions:
1. Put icons over the top three locations (Main settings, minimise and close). Users don't need to guess what to do next once they launch the application and they don't read instructions .
2. Increase the size of the two icons signifying timer and stopwatch (older people like me with poorer eyesight have difficulty distinguishing which is which).
3. Or put the words Timer and Stopwatch above the icons.
4. Possibility to change the background of the application (best is to use three colour slider).

Please try the following:
Download, extract and copy the files located in the "Touchwatch2 DLLs.zip" into the program folder of TouchWatch2 (\Programs\TouchWatch2). Maybe this will work for you.

This is coming along very nicely! The problem with v1, where the form filled only 1/4 of the screen, has been resolved, and I like the addition of the stopwatch and the additional options. I also like the way it now ties in with the TF3D look.

Using a recently purchased HTC Touch Diamond, I got the same problem, but installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 did the trick.

Agree with both of these points. The standard top bar, with the Windows menu, system icons and close button, should be retained, and menus added to the bottom bar (Menu and Settings or File and Options, perhaps).
Final suggestions: it would be good if the sound selection dialog allowed browsing to other file locations, and it would be helpful if there was a sound test button.

Hi,
you can browse files anywhere on your device. Use the UP button. If you select a sound, it plays once.

The timers will stop if the device is in standby. There is no workaround. It's depending on the Windows Mobile architecture.

I also have Chronos installed and that keeps on going even when my tytn2 is in stand-by. So it is possible.

Does Chronos suspend the default standby, and just lock the keys and power the screen off? - WM stops most processes running to extend battery life.

Chronos even keeps running when i put my tytn2 manually in stand-by with the power button.
So i guess it goes realy in stand-by or chronos is doing something even when you put it manually in stand-by, not for sure.

Due to Manila 2 being released and ported, I've stopped development on this application. Thanks for the nice comments and dedication!
I loved the idea of a properly working landscape mode, but it did not yet work the way I liked it.
Hence, I checked out their code, see what they found and created and built my own landscape mode.
For a good part using their files, I built most of my own code from the ground up.
This is - in my perspective - the best part of XDA, building upon the work of others, sharing knowledge, making the best out of all we got.
Now, it's time to share!

Landscape Buttons:
1. Messages, opens outlook.
2. Calculator, starts the calculator.
3. Camera, opens the camera application.

7. Notes, opens the notes application.
8. Files, starts the file manager.
Installation:
- Download AnX1 TF3D Landscape v2.5x.zip
- Unzip the .cab file onto your phone memory or storage card.
- Run the cabinet file and install to phone memory.
- Reboot your phone.
- Slide out the keyboard or hold the right HW button for half a second and enjoy!
- Hold the left HW button to toggle the application from showing.
Modification and Skins:
To install the Shadowsong Skin, download and run the attached AnX1 Landscape TF3D v2.5x Shadowsong Skin.cab
There are many things you can do with this installation, as it incorporates not only a landscape menu, but also utilizes other applications to run.
Two of these in specific are easily customizable, so I will give a short summary of what you can do to change this landscape mode.
1) rlToday
My application will install to your phone in the folder \AnX1.
There you will find a folder named "Modules".
This folder contains all the different apps that my application uses.
When you open the rlToday folder you will find a dll, an ini file and two folders containing skin files.
To edit the skin, create a new folder, create a skin using my existing skins as template and copy it in there with the skin.xml file.
To modify the skin displayed and what programs the landscape menu launches, modify: "\AnX1\Modules\rlToday\rlToday.ini"
The lines in that ini file will speak for themselves.
This is how you set the skin to "Shadowsong" now, there is no longer a seperate cab.
2) X1BC
X1BC was created by JKingDev.
In his thread you will find what the different registry keys do and how you can make it work the way you want it to.
I've configured it to catch a long keypress from the right HW button and make it shift to landscape mode, a long keypress on the left button toggles the landscape mode, enable/disable.
See this thread for more information on how to edit your HW keybinds.
Known Issues:
- A 3px line showing whatever is under the application still shows. Can't seem to fix this one easily.

just installed it, did a soft reset but it didn't work. Nothing happens when sliding the keyboard out.
i'm currently using Itje's touch-it ROM (dutch version)
tried to open in manually from the program files folder but still no luck.

after restart i got a popup window.

Install this cab and seem to be working fine at first...but after i change panels and back, the landscape mode is not working after a softreset it work again but after changing panel and back..same problem...anything i miss out??

Ah, the problem might lie in the localization indeed. What is your "program files" folder called? I will release a localization fix once I find the correct path.

yes, it's very probable that my script conflicts with cmEX landscape. The best way to fix this is either manually removing cmEX landscape, or installing cmEX his CAB for landscape (so the files are overwritten, telling your phones what the paths are) and then uninstalling it to get rid of it. I will see if there's an easier way I can help you to do this.

Hmm, you said you changed panels, what did you change it to? Also, did it not work after you changed back to manila?

Yes, you can customize it by editing the files that install to your \Program Files\AnX1Landscape folder.

I don't know what you mean with beta 2, but there's only one way to find out - install it. It won't affect any system files and can be uninstalled just as easily.

Indeed. It is italian. Rather stupid of me not realising it (in the error i actually get \Programmi\... and not \Programme\, i just copied/pasted the previously reported error). If you tell me which file needs to be edited i can try and fix this myself (provided it's not an epic effort ) without wasting your time. Thanks!

Same problem encountered. after running smoothly, once i exited the panel and went back, landscape wouldn't work! did not do anything in tf3d...

Good job man it run well and smooth! I can't guess why once installed the camera key doesn't work. What's the tecnical problem?

HD2 calculator stopped rotating

Can anyone help?
The calculator on my HD2 has stopped rotating, meaning I can't access the scientific calculator options.
It was working until recently and I haven't installed any software on the phone recently, so I'm fairly certain it's nothing I've done.
I even resorted to removing the rotation and re-adding it using BSB Tweaks, but that didn't work either?
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, is there a fix?
It's only a small bug, but it's damned annoying!!

the calculator is supposed to rotate by default, it becomes a different type of calculator when its in landscape. (See THIS post for how to make the calculator give two different answers to the same question)
If you force it to rotate using an app like bsbtweaks, you will lose the landcsape functionality, , it will rotate, but stay as the standard portrait calc, not the landscape scientific calc.
Same with the music tab, if you force landscape sense, you lose the ability to turn landscape and side swype through albums, , , it still rotates, but stays in portrait/song mode.
Dunno why yours has stopped, though, just thought id add some info about landscape apps.

I just experienced the same problem this morning. All other applications rotate as they should.
Last program which I installed was Cookies Hometab. But after uninstall the calculator still doesn't rotate. So it is not CHT.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the reason?

Sam, I know how the calculator auto rotate is SUPPOSED to work. My point was that, until recently, mine was working properly, then it just appeared to stop. I'm also aware of how BSB Tweaks works when used to force the rotating of an app. The only reason I tried it was as a last resort after exhausting all other possibilities and not being able to find an answer via Google. So, whilst I'm grateful you have taken the time to reply, you haven't really told me anything I didn't already know.
Thanks anyway. If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Not sure if other calculator rotation problems are the same as mine, but I managed to fix mine...
I used BSB Tweaks 1.6.
Start it up.
Select Menu then Rotation.
Next, scroll through the list and check Calculator (CalculatorMain) is in the list. If it isn't in the list then go to Options and select Add Application. Follow the on screen instructions to add an application (navigate to app and shake phone!). Once you add the app you will need to exit BSB Tweaks and do a soft reset.
After the soft reset or if the calculator app is already in the Rotated Apps list, make sure all the applications tick boxes are unticked.
Select Options
Select Rotation Status
Tap Enabled (to check Enabled is now ticked you can go back into Options/Rotation Status)
Do a soft reset....and Bob's you gender re-assigned auntie!!!
This worked for me. Hope it works for you.

I got this problem today. In the morning, it worked fine then suddenly in the evening it stopped rotating, didnt install anything else. Then I got into BSB Tweaks\Menu\Rotation\Rotation Status\, I saw the Status was Disabled, so I enabled it again. Quit and check, it works fine now. Dont know if it can work for u

I haver the exact same problemwith my calculator.
the only difference is I never installed any tweaks.
the only thing I installed was cookies home tab
it still wont rotate in land scape mode.

Had the same problem with mms, the phone would go into landscape mode and stay there until reset, they only way to fix it was to perform a hard reset which is not cool. I think BSB Tweaks or Cookies Hometab is causing it but i like them so much that don't know what to do.

I had the same problem yesterday. Just go to registry editor and find:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor
and change AutoRotation from 0 to 1. That's it!
