I have had a look around but cannot find it.
Does anyone know where I can find a cab for the File Explorer equivalent found in Dutty's ROM, I think it is called Internal Storage ?
Jefalijas
In actuality, a program called 'File Explore Extension' (sp. mistake is intended as that is what it was spelt as) was made. Dutty just deleted the QVGA icon that replaced the original File Explorer icon and instead made a direct link to 'Internal Storage'. The prgoram File Explorer Extension is linked here:

Probably asked a billion times but can somebody quickly explain how i can have a custom startup picture instead of the cingular one? thanks
If u do a simple search, u will find many posts talking about it.
Anyway, here's the steps (WM5 ONLY):
Step 1)
Backing up the original Bootscreen image.
Open your device's File Explorer and go to /Windows.
Search for an image named 'welcomehead.96.png'.
Copy that file (Tap & Hold on the image's name and tap on Copy).
Paste it somewhere else on your device. Preferably on a removeable storage card (SD, Mini-SD, etc)
Paste the file by tap & holding on an empty space in the file explorer and tapping on paste in the context menu.
Now the file is backed up!
Step 2)
Take the Bootscreen skin you've chosen, and put it on your device.
Now, you need a third party file explorer, because Microsoft, for security/safety reasons, disabled the Built-in File explorer (and ActiveSync Explorer)
from replacing system files.
Resco Explorer is a good 3rd Party explorer but there are tons of freeware explorers out there to do the job.
Paste the Bootscreen skin in the /Windows folder with the 3rd party file explorer.
A pop-up will appear asking you to overwrite the original file. Overwrite the file.
You will also probably get a system warning about replacing a system file. This can be ignored.
Please note, as stated above, that this only works on Windows Mobile 5 devices.
Hey all, i have a problem with viewing images in "pictures & videos" after installing a dialer skin.
I've heard that i need to rename Mfc80u.dll with total commander for it to work.
I went into the total commander & tried setting the file off of read only. It wouldn't change. I tried renaming it. It wouldnt change. I even tried deleting & moving the file. Nothing worked.
Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm not a big fan of losing everything & hard resetting.
Thanks in advance!
Try Resco File Explorer, that should work!
I cant even find the file under resco. However, if i go back with total commander, the file is there.
Rasco will hide all *.dll extension files by default. go into file/options/view and uncheck the hide option to see this file.
So you're saying that Resco File Explorer can change the read only flag on a file so it can be writable Molski ??
Most odd. I've always been able to use File Explorer, turn on "Show all files" and delete the file (you don't need it) without changing any attributes.
Bear in mind that there are TWO files very similarly named and the second one is untouchable ... luckily it's NOT the one to delete or rename
Excuse me for beeing a newbie, but can't seem to fin any way to extract the .dll and .gif files from a cab file. For example I downloaded CrossbowPhonepad.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292014&highlight=media+player+skin
But I'm not quite happy with the way it looks and I would like to start to play and alter with it. But when I extract the .Cab file all i get is strange .012-fil and so on. And of course the .XML file where you se how the .dll and .gif files shall be installed.
How to I extract them (.dll and . gif) from the .Cab file??
I'v tried Winrar, Winace, Total commander.
Please Help
the simplist way
Have you tried cabdump.pl (it can be found on the XDA-Wiki, main wiki page->complete tool list -> RomTools->cabdump.pl)
But I've found the simplest way is to install the cab on your device, and then copy the files you're interested in to your pc.
There is an excellent, easy to use program called MSCEInf that allows you to work with CAB files, including drag and drop extraction of files - with their original names - from CAB installation files. It's available here:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/msceinf.shtml
It's developed by a Frenchman named BenoƮt Thonnart.
You should also try WinCE Cab Manager.
But generally WinRar works fine. The files in the cab are simply renamed to 8.3 convention with extension showing the file number. Extract the xml and you will see what name belongs to what file. Just extract and rename.
Thanx gues...that really helped
Hi,
I need a small utility (like the SPB Pocket Plus utility) to add to file explorer to show a file propierties (or update the file propierties and file extension).
i known the "total commander", "resco explorer", etc includes this possibility,
but i don't need all of these fonctionalities....
Exists ??
thank's
Bart
Use GSFinder+
That functionality is included in the GSFinder+ utility which you can get here. In some of the Hermes Black ROMs (and others), it's part of the ROM and replaces the default file explorer.
Mark.
hi,
thank's.
i'm testing it.
first opinion: the windows fexplore speed is greater.
when trying to download windows mobile free extras via internet explorer i dowenloads them but in the form of themes (when i inistall them it opens the theme selection menue ) what is the problem also when downloading via opera it works probaply
This is not a solution but a workaround - if you are using IE, rename the extension of the downloaded file as .cab if they are in .tsk and you should be good to go.

Click to collapse
how to rename it
Go to the folder where the file is downloaded (default is /My Documents) and rename it using file explorer or file commander
