Upgrade DOPOD c800 to windows Mobile 6.....need help please

I have a DOPOD C800 with the following specs:
ROM version: 1.7.707.3 WWE
ROM date: 11/01/06
Radio Version: 02.69.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.30
ExtROM Version: 1.7.707.106
Operating system: windows mobile 5.0 - OS 5.1.422
Can someone please help me with steps to upgrade it to windows mobile 6/6.1?
I checked on the dopod official site and the upgrade is not available for c800.
So will i have to unlock CID? am basically confused.....can someone help with the steps please?

what is your SPL? If it is over 4, you should HardSPL your phone and flash one of our custom roms, or use the USPL to do it.

it looks like you are stuck with the rom that you have. Try using aserg's method. it's one of our older flashing methods.
search for it in our forums. tip for you- ALWAYS have RUU ready.

Can u pls tell me what the aeserg's method is? and what do u mean by having the RUU always ready? and which RUU are u talking about? I don't think there is a RUU for the DOPOD C800. If there is then pls let me know where it is.

I think they should be the same, but only try if you're really desperate to get WM6. I put the htc wm6 (in english) on my htc branded version bought in China with a chinese version of wm5.

czhang- you can buy HTC devices in china. but you can also buy dopod devices. Even if dopod is essentially HTC in china. the RUUs do not work together.
Rangnekarrahul: aserg's method is a way that we were able to flash the first roms made for the herald, before we had USPL and HardSPL. I'm pretty sure you don't have to have a 4+ SPL to do it, but the lack of RUU means that if you mess up, your device is dead.
for more info on aserg's method, look at some of our oldest roms, like touch-it 1 or 2.

do u really think its worth the effort? also can u tell me the actual method(aserg's) I tried finding in the forums but am not really very sure. Some talked about extracting the .nbh file and stuff.....don't know how to do it...if writing in this forum is a pain then u can mail me the procedure at [email protected] .

Which official ROM should I upgrade to (Vodafone UK)

Hi -
I've had my HTD HD2 a few days now and want to upgrade to an official ROM which will hopefully sort out a few minor instability problems that it has at the moment, and more importantly battery life issues.
The current ROM version is 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE.
Firstly could someone please advise me which ROM version I should upgrade to? On the European HTC site the latest is 1.48.405.2 but apparently there is a 2.02 out too?
Also, could someone advise me where I should download the ROM from? I can't use the HTC official site as my serial number is blocked due to Vodafone only allowing ROM upgrades through them. I've found this link from this site http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html but am not sure if i'm looking at the correct thing?

1.48 is the official HTC one so I'd say give that a go first...
Best guide is the one for n00bs as it tells you how to install HSPL as well which makes life SO much easier (apparently, still on 1.48 myself)...have a good read and go from there...

1.48/1.61 are the latest official roms.
2.01 and 2.02 are unofficial leaked ones.
Stick with 1.61 or 1.48 for stock. You can then always flash a new radio too.
Install HSPL, then put the ROM image you pick on an sdcard as LEOIMG.nbh. Or install via activesync.

I thought I need to use a gold to upgrade? Would the guide you linked to, EddyOS still be okay? Because it does not mention the gold car in it anywhere, wheras the one here does...

These are questions best asked and answered in the ROM Development section, not here in General., but briefly, HSPL will let you flash any rom from any region, including cooked roms. Goldcard will let you flash OFFICIAL roms from any region, but unless you already have a goldcard, you will have trouble making one, as the free goldcard generator went offline a few days ago.
Having HSPL on your device will probably be enough of an excuse for your supplier to not support your warranty, though you can uninstal HSPL if needed.
Go read the Rom development section over and over and over again is the best advice.

1.61 is the latest official ROM, but it is localised only for WWE and Turkish.
Yes, and HSPL will let you recover from a bad flash too.

Good morning,
I'm here in HK for a long period and I'd like to buy a HTC HD2 here that is cheaper than in Italy.
My only concern is that if I can flash it without problem in order to use a new cooked ROM in italian .
What does it mean WWE ? I read WWE in some ROM but I don't known what it means

Hi friend, WWE stands for world wide English....I also bought my HD2 from Hongkong, and the original ROM installed is also the WWE version, means everything is in English, not in Hongkong's native language...Flashing to another ROM is not a problem, just make sure you follow the procedure correctly (HSPL, etc..etc...)

Oficial rom wwe 1.66

Hi just got the Htc Leo week ago. First i want to upgrade my rom to the oficial one. Im running 1.43 wwe and i want load 1.66 wwe but there's two yhings witch stoping me:
1. On htc website i try tu download the 1.66 rom but when i put my serial number it said that: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
2. On sunnysoft page i dowload 1.66 rom but they write that:
LIMITATION
PN: 99HJZ022-00
(compare with the number on the label
under battery of your device)
and my number dont match 99HJY070-0
Is that mean that i cant upgrade my rom?
If i upgrade will i brick my leo
I'm not sure is that becouse my htc is branded to o2

I belive o2 branded HD2 do not have an official update as of yet. You can how ever HSPL the device and flash the rom. It will not have any ill effect if you follow the instructions.

My one is NOT branded and I can't download 1.66 based on serial as well. But being on factory rom has also advantages -> I can (and will) go back to the shop, put it on the table and say "thank you, I've had enough".

Did you try to download the official 1.66 ROM from here and install it on the device?

i am using HTC TOUCH DIAMOND 2 GSM(bought it from Cyprus in Europe) .I was trying to upgrade the ROM
from official site of HTC but i couldn't download new ROM cause it was
problem with my serial number.I was wondering which is the difference between my phone and the Topaz?

It's the same phone, but it is just the european name. What the problem with the serial number is, I don't know. Maybe you were on the english site or something? And if that doesn't work, I think you will find a rom here.

I don't think you can upgrade the stock ROM if your serial number does not tally with HTC database. You even can't install using someone else serial number. The RUU just will not write to your TD2. I had tried to install EU ROM upgrade using my Asia serial number but failed.
Another option is to check your SPL version and flashed back with it's shipped SPL.
If all else fail, your only solution is to HSPL your device and flash with cooked ROMs available at TD2 section. There are many available. Some are better than HTC stock upgrades.
