Import sms from Symbian phone - Touch GSM General

Hello,
I've migrated from nokia N95 to HTC touch.
I would like to know if theres a way I could import my sms from my nokia (symbian) to HTC (windows mobile).
google wasnt that helpful ,
thank you for ur support,

Take a look at this thread
Unfortunately your the latest member in a long line of predecessors who've tried the same procedure. I don't know of a way to restore the sms's from your symbian to WM, though you can back it up on your PC if that helps. You'll find instructions in the thread above on how to do that. Hope it helps.

Backup symbian contacts and restore to windows mobile device

Hello,
Is it possible to transfer contacts and sms text messages from a symbian device (nokia 6600) to a windows mobile device? (Htc Trinity)
I found enough programs to do it, but all of them are for symbian OR windows mobile, but not both...
Anyone has an idea?
Regards,
Donald.
I know what you mean, dont suppose the Nokia can be made to output data that can be read by Outlook? In which case dump the lot to outlook, then dump it back to the Trinity, et voila.
Otherwise see if it can be saved in some form of common standard... PLain text, CSV etc.
Sorry not much help otherwise
Use Nokia PC Suite to sync the Nokia phone to Outlook, then Active Sync to do Outlook to the Trinity.
Or save the contacts to the SIM on the Nokia, then import from the SIM on the Trinity.
I'll try that
Thanks, i'll try that, but i don't know if outlook can read the sms text messages from the phone, we will see...
Thanks for the tips,
Regards,
Donald.
Importing SMS into WinMob is not straight forward.
But you will very probably have to start by finding a Symbian app that can export to CSV (a generic spreadsheet type format).
FYI, Yahoo Mail is quite good at converting formats!

or..... Bluetooth.....? MInd if you have alot to shift might take some time, but it's worth a punt?
Hi there,
have you checkt Smart GSM for windows mobile? That let's you sync your Nokia with the Trinity. For me it work very well with my old 8910!!! (I'am on WM6)
I'll gonna check smartgsm, if it works i'll let you know...
Thanx for all the suggestions.
SmartGSM
SmartGSM didn't work, it just won't connect to my nokia 6600 (symbian based phone) neither through infrared or bluetooth...
Let's search for an app that can import sms text messages and export it to a format windows mobile can read...
Any idea? anybody?

Phone contacts
Heya!
The easiest way i know of, is to import your csv, or vcf files into outlook, and synchronise your phone to it....! i often switch between my ipaq, htc, nokia and sony erricsson.... and thus far, keeping the contacts in outlook has always worked! have tried all sorts of other methods as well, and found many glitches...!
Also, bluetoothing all the contacts across works pretty well...!
hope this helped!!

SMS sender Alternative

Few years back there was a app by microsoft "sms sender" which was installed on XP pc and connected to your mobile phone, You could then send SMS messages typed on your pc through the connected phone.
Now I am looking for a similiar type of app for vista or Windows 7, but have not found any, which should also be compatible with windows mobile 6.5, so I can type onto my PC and send sms through my connected HTC HD2.
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm curious too.
Actually, it'd be awesome if there was software with similar functionality to MyPhoneExplorer - http://www.fjsoft.at/en/highlight.php
Anyone?
Chaps,
There is something out there in the XDA Development & Hacking Forum. Can't quite remember what the app is called now but do a search under SMS or Desktop SMS and you should find it.
Use this to help you out...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all

hi all,
I know this is an old thread, but did anyone find an answer for this topic?
I'm also intrested in an app like myphoneexplorer
Hi,
Search for "wifi remote access" .. and give it a try..
This may seem like all your dreams have come true, but FJ (developer of MyPhoneExplorer) has stated that his next iteration of MPE will indeed have (at least some) support for our beloved Android devices!
This was the one thing I hated not having with my Android, but now all is well!
Good things come to those who wait

[Q] Contacts / Messages Migration (HD2 => Galaxy i9000) - How?

Hello everyone !
I have a HD2 and think of getting a Galaxy S - real soon !
I have the following issue and would like to know if there's some app available to help out! (besides the classic Outlook sync and then re-sync on the Galaxy)
Thanks a lot for your time , hopefully there's a similar thread where i can read things like this...if not , feel free to post here !
I've not used it myself yet, but I'm planning on trying Sprite Migrate:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/migrate/how-does-it-work-
i did mine via my gmail account, so it was a natural move, as i was already sync-ing with gmail on my windows mobile phone
I have used sprite migrate which is a free app. Worked like a charm. It even migrates your call history.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
If your contacts don't have pictures on the HD2 then you can simply go into standard WinMob Contacts > select all > Beam via Bluetooth to the Galaxy S. (At least its something like that, can't remember the exact menus when I did it on my Touch HD). This method also worked for getting contacts from my girlfriend's Nokia 5800 to HTC Desire.
If you have contact pictures though, that method becomes more of a pain. I had to sync to Outlook, remove all contact pictures, then export each contact as a VCF file which were copied to the SD card and imported into android that way.
Same here when I migrated from HTC Diamond to Galaxy i7500. I was already syncing contacts & calendar with google. As far as I remeber, I followed this guide:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636
Hope it helps.

mIQ. Worked flawlessly for me switching between devices.
vCard Expert will save all your contacts into a vcf file that can be picked up by an Android phone.
Yooo,everyone,thanks a lot !
I used the Sprite thingy and worked beautifully....i never thought of such a smart piece of software ! Nicely done !
They even offer a complete backup solution software for us rooters / flashers , so , even better !

[Q] SMS sync with Windows Mobile

sorry guys, i am coming from kaiser forum but hoping for answer as so many here dual boot.
i believe this is a common request but i have not found a good solution.
i dual boot from winmo 6.5 to android and want to sync SMS between them.
contacts are easy through gmail.
i have seen solutions using export csv/xml, some sort of file text string manipulation, then import but all a bit convoluted. i could do this ok for a 1-off transfer.
i do not want to replace either of the databases, only import/merge.
anyone have an easy(ish) answer. must be able to handle folders.
paid for progs are not a problem but free is always nice
