Have you installed TFL3D? I hear that it installs over 1000 files in the windows directory. I have the same problem but I find that its just scanning the oh so many files in that directory. if i click on the windows folder in any file browser the phone effectively freezes, however it takes about 5 mins to scan all the files before showing them to you. Try it again but see if leaving it for a while to see if its just thinking about it
-this is really annoying and I was considering uninstalling TFL3D for this very reason but I found that I dont REALLY need to go into the windows folder all that often
Ah that must be it. I haven't installed TF3D, but I have a whole load of other stuff installed

Hello all.
Im having a bit of bother with my xda2i, its given me nothing but trouble for about 5 hours now. The problem i have is the align screen wont progress and therefore the device wont start. I have been into the \Windows\StartUp folder via activesync and removing the welcome.exe shortcut from the folder allows the device to start without requiring the screen alignment, problem then is that the screen alignmnet is very wrong. i cannot find the welcome.exe that the link refers to, i assume that it shoud be in the \Windows folder, any idea's? If the file is missing from the folder, does anybody know where a copy can be found.
Many thanks
Stev
That file is in my \Windows folder with Welcome.exe and welcome.lnk, but when I try to copy it to my desktop to zip up for you, I get a file not found error, it may possibly be protected in some way?

I think you are right, a pal of mine has the same device and he tried to copy the files, tried everything to bring it back to life but alas it is dead.
Roll on renewal time.

Hey mate.. I was going nuts having this same problem until I found this setting in Folder Options: 'Hide protected operating system files'
Make sure this is turned off and you should be able to view it fine.
Hi, I am searching everywhere for an answer to this problem, I have changed everything in tools/folder options to show protected files but still cannot access the windows folder on a Trinity. (i know this is a Blackstone section but this is where I found the existing thread)
I am using XP, this is really baking my noodle, help please?
if you are doing it via the active syncsiupplied with the phone be patient.
when i click to open the folder it takes a while before it opens up.
could give that a go as i thought it didn't work either.
Thanks I found how to do it, my copy of Windows was missing a required dll, am able to see all files now and problem solved.
I checked all the correct settings in folder options but they kept reverting to hidden, so if this is happening to you on XP do this;
RUN;
CMD;
regsvr32 /ishell.dll
I went on windows folder on file explorer. It took ages to load so quit file explorer. Now whenever i load file explorer on my phone i just get the rotaing windows logo timer thing.
How can i get back to a different page on explorer? This is driving me mad!
I'm running duttys rom if that makes a difference.
Same thing happened to me. I waited about 3-4 minutes and as the explorer was finally (you just have to wait) showing the content of the windows folder, I switched to a higher level. That was it. And remember - never ever try to go inside the windows folder on winMo
yes, the /windows directory has a lot of files and it takes a while for loading. Just wait until it's loaded and then change the directory (e.g. to /) because the explorer will always open at the last visited directory!
duttys rom has maybe another file explorer installed (look in the programs directory)
if not, then install another explorer. I'm using Total Commander
click here for the cab!
Yup, that even happens if you access your Windows folder via your PC (ActiveSync). Use TotalCommander for any operations in your Windows folder, that's the fastest free alternative.
I installed a app caled omapclocks. I installed i think. It never worked. So I tryed to delete it. Now everytime my phone goes into standby i get a notification error. I cant find any of it's files on my phone. Please help me fix this. Im new to this phone and i'm really having a hard time. All I was trying to to was overclock this thing and it seems like its more trouble then its worth. I just want to get this off my phone.
Im also getting this error: cannot execute \windows\startup\omapclock.ink

i dont think you installed it.... if your getting that message that means you only have the omapclock startup link on your phone. Everytime you turn on your phone windows will try to run the link in the windows startup folder but theres no actual .exe file linked to the file so it can't run it. Understand?
i use omapclock on my phone too. in my windows startup folder i have omapclock.ink and its link with omapclock.exe which i put in \windows
and i also have omapclockPlus in the start menu folder so i can control the speed of the processor.
hope that helps
I installed the latest verson. And it would not let me register it. So i deleted it. It never installed into my program files or startup file. Is their in easy way to install this? How do i do it now since its still some where on my phone? Can i just drag the OmapClockPlus_20060803_004.zip into my phone? Do i need to unzip it before i send it to my phone? Do i need to change any of the file names after i run the exe. file. Sorry I must sound really dumb asking all this
The most weird thing i ever encountered today with my HTC Pro2.
I renamed the folder "Beauties" to "Beauties." with Resco File explorer 2008 (note there is a dot after Beauties).
The Original path is" Storage card/Pictures/Personal pictures/secret/Beauties".
After existing Resco Explorer,I went back to see the folder again,jesus christ, the folder has gone! just disappeared without a trace.
I tried all means,soft reset,Resco Explorer,show all the files and folders, Resco photo viewer, connected with PC etc etc,all of them cannot find this "Beauties." folder.
Inside this Beauties folder,there are many pictures that I collected over years,no no I dont want to lose them.
Is this bug?
Am I being cursed? (lots of porn pictures in this folder as well)
How to get my folder back??? please help,help,help!!!!!!!!!
If there is a way to get the folder back,maybe we will have a best way to enscrypt folders?
Why don't you sync with your computer and use the MS ActiveSync to explore your phone? It is much easier on the eyes to look for a file on your computer screen than on your phone.

thanks for suggestion,As I said,I tried all means,including your suggestion. Got nothing.
no idea what could have happened.
folders with a period show up fine on my tp2, both in explorer and commander, never used resco though.
ne how, before you do anything else, do the following
remove the sd card,
plug it into a pc,
run a data recovery program on it.
tried everything,no cure for it.
My conclusion is that after you add period(dot) at the end of the name of the folder,this folder is deleted forever.
A bloody lesson.
Bye bye pictures,bye bye ladies.
Hmm . Files may be gone..
but I'd try another file explorer app if I was you
Total Commander --> http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
You sure you renamed it xxxxx. and it took? Perhaps you did a typo (accidentally touch the touchscreen thereafter and it's called something else your not expecting?)
this just happened to me today using resco file explorer!!! dot on the end of a folder bam!!! all folder is gone!
bring it back
if you ever do this again press ctrl+z to get back the folder, it happened with me so being a photoshop freak instantly went for the keys and thankfully got the folder back with the old name, still cant understand what's happens when you put a dot (.) at the end of a folder name.
Ps. this will only work for a few mins after the rename before any other changes are made after which it is useless
