does anyone know a registry tweak or hack to open pictures & videos directly to the /Storage Card/My Documents/My Pictures directory? i hate that everytime i open pictures and videos it opens at the default /My Documents/My Pictures directory. all my pictures are stored in the storage card and i would really like to know if there is a hack to do this. thanks for any help.
Been covered a few times - sorry no hack for this, it appears to be hard coded into the software. Try different software as i find the above one slow and plain rubbish. I use Xnview pocket (free) much faster and can set the default directory to anything you like.
Hi Guys,
I googled a way to hide folders from showing up in the gallery, because i have some folders with pictures that i do not want to see in the gallery, such as scanned documents etc.
I came across this fix of adding a blank '.nomedia' file to the folder i want ignored.
However, i then ran across this issue where adding nomedia file will delete all the media files in that folder (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3692)
Does anyone know if this has been fixed in Froyo? because i don't want to risk putting this .nomedia file and then losing all my documents.
thanks
I haven't heard of the issue of nomedia file issue but I do know that you can create any folder with a "." at the beginning and the gallery and media players will ignore it.
.photos or .scans will make the folder hidden
I've never had that probem with .nomedia either....but you can try what was posted above.
what about album arts? I want it to show up on music player, but not photo and video gallery, which it has unfortunately picked them up.
how do i turned off the display of such media files in gallery?

I use photovault to hide images i dont want to show up in gallery. It works like a charm. It costs 1$ but it's totally worth it.
btw would it be possible to only use specified folders for media files? like putting .nomedia in the root-directory and then something like a ".ThisIsMedia" file into the videos, photos, mp3 folders?
I have mp3s and jpegs files on my gt-p7500 device. Those data files belonging to the applications which shouldnt be there.. I delete them but they getting back everytime I run app.
I deleted a video via mx player, didnt free up any memory, been searching the tablet to find where its living now. is there a trash folder somewhere that needs clearing? or will it delete as soon as its needed? i have 3 gb left and i should have 9 or 10. any advise?
You can download an app called DiskUsage. It breaks down where data is being stored on your device. You should be able to locate where the memory is being held up.

Thanks! as soon as i ran the app, it discovered that the video has been deleted and started to indicate that I have 9.8gb free.
Sometimes when you delete files using the MX Player delete... the disk space doesn't show up until a reboot... or use app manager to kill the settings app so it has to refresh all its values... I delete videos sometimes but they still show in my gallery until I reboot ... but they are just thumbnails and they won't play
For the Oculus Gear VR, how can I see my own movies on the SD card? I assume I need to create a folder?
I have the same problem. I downloaded the Samsung VR Gallery app and that allows you to see your videos on the SDCard and play them.
Hi Guys, also had this problem.
What i figured out. Oculus for some reason cant find them on your SD card but can on you phone internal memory.
Just load your movies in the video folder, if you don't have one create it on your phone memory.
Guys,
Works fine for me on SD, so here is the file structure you need.
Create the folders on your SD as below
Oculus\360Videos
Oculus\360Photos
Oculus\Movies\My Videos
Oculus\Movies\My Videos\3D
Oculus\Multiscreen
Oculus\Trailers
Just dump your own videos in folder - Oculus\Movies\My Videos unless they are 3D, then put in folder - Oculus\Movies\My Videos\3D
All my movies are mp4 and work fine, but not sure what other formats are supported.
