How to add non-installed Prog to proggi-list? - Touch HD General

Hi,
got my HD few days ago. Now I installed some stuff, all fine. But: Can I add a program, that I did'nt installed (just copied the exe-file, all working well), to the program-list in the Tabs or just to "Programs"?
Thanks in advance...
Please don't flame me if this questions is already answered anywhere else, I tried to find it out myself, without success.

Off the top of my head - I seem to remember that I connected using Active Sync and then used the Explore function to go to the folder where the EXE was located. I then created a Shortcut to the EXE and then moved that Shortcut to the \Windows\Start Menu Folder (or \Windows\Start Menu\Programs)

works great. thanks a lot!

No worries - glad to help.

Zen Mode Ring - Icons and rings

I’m still a beginner with XDA, but starting to figure things out slowwwwwwly.
Couple of questions.
1. I’ve installed PocketZen (v3.5) and have managed to activate it. Whilst PocketZen is set up as the Today scene, how can I add custom applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Calendar etc) on the PocketZen desktop?
2. How can you apply the icons like the ones shown in the picture below? I’ve downloaded the following icon files but don’t know what to do with them :- Arjen.rar & Egypt123Icons1.rar
3. I’ve downloaded the ZenRingMode.exe file and copied into a folder called “Zen Ring Mode” within “\Program Files” folder on the XDA. I’ve managed to launch it by going in to File Exporer. Seems a bit tedious…..Is there a better way? However, once launched and you put the code in and click “Save Ring Mode”, how can you then utilise that sequence? What will the saved sequence be called? Surely not the code sequence you’ve just used????
:!: :?:
I will try to anwser your questions but I invit you to read the doc in the PocketZenPhone web site (see my signature below this post) All about custom icons ... is explained.
But to explain you directly PocketZenPhone is a today plugin it "only" allows you to switch between different phone mode.
To display shorcut I use TdLaunch.

This another plugin than PocketZenPhone. It is TdLaunch. Download it here . To add application using tdlaunch, install it then go to settings->today->items->tdlaunch->options->add

To apply icons for PocketZenPhone. Install PocketZenPhone, then open an explorer using ActiveSync and copy the incons extracted from the .rar you downloaded and copy then in Porgram files/PocketZenPhone.

ZenRingMode only allows you to test some custom Ring mode. you enter it , apply it and test when someone calls you. If the code is great you can post it on the PocketZenPhone thread on this forum.
Hope this help
Thank you very for such a fast response. Appreciate it. I’ve copied the jar files to \Program Files\PocketZenPhone as you suggested. However, nothing has happened. How do I activate new icons?

No unzip the files on your PC, then copy the pictures on your pocket.
Once done go to the PocketZenphone settings (settings->today->item->PocketZenPhone->options ...) . Exit and return to the today page ... that's it
OK. I’ve unzipped them using WinRAR and then copied them in a folder called Egypt123Icons on my PocketPC. Went into PocketZenphone settings (settings->today->item->PocketZenPhone->options ...) but could not find anything to change icons! Sorry to trouble you again but can you please help me out.
Copy them in the installation path ( \Program Files\PocketZenPhone for the english OS)
Then go to settings->today->pocketzenphone->options...
Got it at last...Thanks you....thank you very much for your patience.

No prob glad you have it working

Hidden files and registry after Rom upgrade, what's up ?

Hi !
I've just upgrade my 9000 with Rom 1.30.89 ITA
With the previous Rom I can move shortcuts in Start>Programs in sub-folders created by me (for example: PIE in a folder called Web)
But now i see the shortcuts (of the pre-installed applications in Rom as Word, Excel, Agenda....) in Programs are hidden files and I can't move to my customized folders, i get an error !
I have an italian OS and the error is "Accesso negato" (probably in English is "Access denied")
Same error when i try to modify the registry from PC with Mobile Registry Editor or Smartione.
What's up ?
Is not my first Pocket PC and with all my past device i always was able to move folders in Programs and edit the registry from PC, but now I don't know what can I do...
Anyone with this issue ?
Thanks
answer
cut and paste the shortcut icons. you will have to have any start menu aplications closed to do this. It will give you an error if you try to move those icons if you don't close those programs also clear out all the checkmarks under start-settings-menu. this should help
I had this issue as well on my Dopod 900. These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden.
I was using Resco File Explorer and it could not see these files. But checking the box "Show All Files", the files could be seen and moved.
Using File Explorer though, I am pretty sure that it sees the files with no problems. You can move them but you get a prompt saying that this might cause some problems with other software. Just have to click OK and it moves it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks sandrobber, I always close all the running application before moving the shortcuts and I clear all the checkmarks
@capkapak
You're right when you say "These files seem to be classified as System Files now and are hidden."
Anyway thanks for your suggestion, I can move files with TotalCommander also (not only Resco) and modify the registry with PHM RegEditor
Obviously both installed in my 9000
But i would like move files and modify registry from my PC....
Ps: This is strange for me, I always was able to move files with ActiveSync and modify registry with Smartione without any problems.....
Thanks guys for your replies

Organising program files

I've been searching through my touch dual to find a way to move my games that I installed in to the 'games' folder (the one with solitaire and bubble breaker installed already), add extra folders to organise the programs installed better and move some of my programs I installed into the settings tab beacuse they all appear in the main programs list, but i have been unsuccesful so far!
There must be a simple way to do this?
Any help would be appreciated.
use file explorer, navigate to windows/start menu/programs and create any new folders you want then copy and paste the icons into the folders you want
thanks. really handy
It works!!
Thanks for that, it worked!!! I thought it would be something like that. Just one more thing, how do I move some of the apps to the 'personal' setting tab because when I put them in the setting folder, they automatically go to the 'system' setting tab.
Thanks once again!
Hey.
Thanks for this, this was very handy and guided me how to keep my files organised.
Thanks!

Moving Icons in the Programs Menu

I've flashed several ROM's on my Kaiser & am currently attempting to build my own. My question is this......Is it possible to move icons around in the Programs menu? Specifically, I want to move the calculator icon from the Office mobile folder to the Utilities folder. I've searched & searched & searched for the solution with no success. I know it's possible because Dutty put it there, I know it can be moved. Thanks in advance for all youre help.
Try TotalCommander.
Go to: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\
Here you can move the .lnk files or create new folders to organize.
If you want to do this with the StartMenu go to:
\Windows\Start Menu\
Good luck!
Sweet, thanks mccune. Works great.
No problem mate That's why we're here!

shouldn't this be in a kaiser forum ?
well, if you wanted to cook a ROM, and you wanted to have the calculator in the Utilities folder as soon as you flash the ROM, I would go to C:\kaiserkitchen\OEM\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat. NOTE: you need to be able to see hidden files and system files. Open initflashfiles.dat with Notepad, click on Edit > Find... > Search for Calculator.lnk, and it should show you a line that says something like this:
Code:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Office"):-File("Calculator.lnk","\Windows\calc.lnk")
Just change that line to this:
Code:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Utilities"):-File("Calculator.lnk","\Windows\calc.lnk")
save it, and you're done
now, as soon after you flash the ROM, Calculator should already be in Utilities!
Good luck cooking
Also try SASHIMI (see my sig) for a more elaborate and comprehensive process using the Customlinks menu...

tomtom7 not shown in programs

Hi guys,
I've a O2 xda diamond originally with tomtom7 installed on it.
I now flashed my phone with 'Nataly-rom' and when I reinstall tomtom7 from the cab, no shortcut is visible in programs or in the start menu>
How can I fix this?
thanks,
wulle
You have to add it. I believe it's on Definitions, Today!!!
Or click on Add Program (in Programs Tab) and select the TomTom Navigator
Tell me if it worked.
I had the same problem. Using Total Commander I created a shortcut to the Navigator.exe file and placed it under \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. I was then able to add it to the programs tab in the usual way
Hey guys,
thanks, it worked
the way of the shortcut was indeed the way to go
cheers
wulle
by the way,
great rom the "Nataly"
