Hi,
I have a non-nat network in the office. When I want to connect to the wireless I need to manualy enter the IP address in the network adaptor settings.
When I want to connect at home I have to then go back into the network adaptor settings and set to IP address to automatic.
Does anybody know of any software that remembers these settings and can change them depending on what network you want to connect to?

I’m trying to connect my I-Mate PDA2k to Senao Wireless Assess point my access point connected with my network switch .My access point showing WAN light and on my mobile also showing “W” its mean PDA getting signals but I can’t access internet from my PDA.
I don’t know how to configure access point I took access point without catalog and serial cord I don’t we use serial cord or not.
In simple words I want 2 access internet without GPRS.

Look for help on configuring your the Senao web site for configuring your wireless router: www.senao.com.tw. I have an access point and it's working like a charm with my Blue Angel.
If you don't have a DHCP server or you have not configured your wireless router as a DHCP server, follow these procedures on your PDA:
Tap Start, Settings, Connections (tab), Network Cards (icon), Network Adapters (tab), tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Etherne....
Then check: Use specific IP address. You'll need to set values for IP Address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway. You IP address should be (quoting you) something like 192.168.0.xxx and subnet mask is probably 255.255.255.0
Also be sure to tap on Name Servers, and fill in the info there, you'll need a DNS address to access the Internet.
Finally, to configure your proxy server, go back to Connections, Advanced, Select Networks, and create a new connections and configure the proxy server accordingly, if it exists. If you're supposed to connect thru SecureNAT (ie Default gateway), you can simply ignore this step, or create a network profile that "connects you to the Internet" without specifying a proxy server.

ive never used wifi before on my exec or in a home network so treat me as a beginer. ive got a pci wifi network card and i am trying to set it up so i can use my mda pro when i am at home. my computer is currently connected to my housemates wired network which is a simple set up

like i said nothing fancy, i installed the network card which went fine and bridged my network connections together as advised by my large local computer retailer. my computer asked me to provide a name and network key so i did. my pc is now connected to my mda pro.

every so often i get the following
*unable to obtain a server assigned ip address, try later or enter an ip address in network settings*
i cant get any internet based app to work and i am asumeing its due to the settings, any help is gonna be soooo apreciated
i dont want to subscribe to wifi in the city if i cant get it working in my own home lol
any one think this might be a network problem ?

From the info that you have given, it looks like your universal is getting an incorrect ip address. What you need to do is check what your desktop ip address and gateway is. Then give your universal and ip in the same range as the desktop ip and also add the gateway to your device. It should wotk this way !
The best option would be to get a wireless access point instead of the wireless network card and set things up like this.

The wireless access point plugges directly into the router rather than connecting through your PC.
If you don't fancy the above setup then you could use internet connection sharing. You'll need to remove the bridge between your network cards and ensure that the router,your PC and friends PC's isn't using 192.168.0.x IP addresses.
Then you can select ICS (tick the allow other computers to access internet...) on your network card's (one to the router) advanced properties and select your wireless NIC as your home network connection.
I hope this isn't too heavy I've resisted the temptation to start talking about subnets, NAT, DHCP and all the other networking terms.
ok heres the deal... i have a MDA flashed with the software from att for the 8125 everything works great except when i turn wifi on, i can connect to the network but cant ever get a page to work. does anyone have any suggestions????? please help
Is this happening on any network or your home network?
Check this... go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards. Make sure the WLAN Adapter is set to connect to the internet. Then tap the WLAN Adapter and make sure IP Address is set to Server Assigned then in Name Servers you don't have anything. If any of these is different, change it to the above.
Yeah. I have the same problem. I have wifi pci asus, the signal is good. I have Lan tru router and now bridged connection. I set the ip, mask and gateway which are in the status of the brudge. And the internet explorer and opera wont load pages.?!??! dns isnt set.
The network adapter is sdio wlan.., and the connection is my work network in connection > connections > advanced >select networks.
i use wm6, nbd 8.0
What could be the problem???

i know there is a problem with secured networks, especially with wpa encryption. try to remove the encryption and see how it goes....
I have removed all encription. I tried preety much everithing and it doesnt work. All other free wifi networks work just fine, i can surf on internet.
what router do you have? i know that i could not connect to a 3com router with the wizard with any rom i tried.
try using a defined ip address and dns, meaning no dhcp. use a real dns addresses and not the default gateway...
Hey everyone. Well the title says it all. Is it possible to manually type in an IP address to a specific router instead of the phone actually automatically giving me one?? If not, are there any programs that can accomplish this?

Easy there, you want to enter a fixed IP in your router in the computer? Or you want to select IP in the case of its type in the IP network on your phone?
Depending on the router, it works with DHCP, Auto IP, this is more of the router for WLAN network, it is configured with an IP again, to not be that your network is DHCP, it?
Computer (fixed) -> Router (fixed) + Router (DHCP wlan)

If you have the IP of your wireless network, and only enter the track in his case:
Ex: 192.168.0.x
Ja, if your network is DHCP, assigns an IP Auto, and so leave them the phone!
Do not confuse this: If the connection of your home is wireless (radio) you will configure your phone to use the same sign, so you need a wi-fi router
Yes, there is a way to set a static ip on your WM device. All you have to do is go to Settings, Select the Connections tab at the bottom, select WI-FI, Select Network Adapters tab, Make sure "The Internet" is selected from the drop down menu, Select IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible WI-FI Adapter, select Use specific IP Address and fill in the requested info.
I never really thought about it until you asked. i knew there was a way to do it i just never took the time to look at the options.

I'm having trouble understanding your question. the phone doesnt specify the IP, if the router has DHCP enabled, then it'll automatically assign the phone the IP. You want it so that when you're on your WLAN, the IP address is fixed? If that's the case, then go into your router's setting and reserve a specific IP that you want your phone to have. All you have to do is input your phone's MAC address into the router's setting with the desirable IP address. The next time you're on WIFI, your phone will have the IP that you assigned.
Ok, if you need to connect to a WiFi network with no DHCP service where you are allowed to choose an IP (like your own home network where you want a specific IP), you have to go:
Settings > Connections > WiFi > Wireless Networks > Network Adapters > IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter and there change to Use specific IP address and the like.
But the changes you make there, are valid for all your WiFi connections (since they are network adapter related). If you later need to connect to a public WiFi where you can only get an IP through DHCP, you have to go back and change the setting all over again.
Is there any way/software that can keep these settings per network? Eg. if the network's name is Freenet then use DHCP, if the network's name is Home then use specific IP, DNS, etc.
