many crashes - Touch HD General

Hi,
I got a HTC Touch HD and its nice stuff... but....
The GSM crash a lot most of the time system files.
I don't know how why but it more than my old HTC S710
Are here more people with the same problems?

No, not a single issue here - i have only crashes while using diamond hologram. All other Software/Hardware is working fine.

i have no idea what a GSM is but i find i'm restarting at least once a day. sometimes it's opera, sometimes it just freezes when doing stuff. my first winmob phone so i'm just assuming this is how it works

i have no idea what this guy is saying other than the phone crashes a lot :S.
what is a gsm crash? does the phone crash when you are on edge or 3G? is the system files crashing your phone or the phone crashing causing system files to become corrupt?

RSS Hub Freezing

I use RSS Hub quite a lot or at least i did on my touch pro but since getting my HD2 i find it constantly freezes and i have to reset the phone. Now it used to freeze on my touch pro occasionally but only for a few seconds but never to the point of it permanently freezing.
I've tried a couple of different ROMs all 6.5.x not 6.5 so this could be causing the problem but I'm sure it even happened on the stock o2 ROM my phone came with. Just wondered if anyone else is having the same problem and whether they've fixed it

I have the same problem. Don't know a solution yet for this annoying problem. But I keep on searching. BTW. if RSS Hub freezes you can kill it with the standard built in WM task manager.

Hi guys,
I have the same problems, did you find a solution ?
Mine does it every now and then, I find its not really freezing as much as lagging out for a few moments to a minute. Annoying.
same here with i think the latest 2.1.2.1109 Version... is there already a solution?
Nope i have the same issue to and this happens to other cooked ROMS too. So its the application i guess. I see this a lot when the phone looses its connection to the internet.
All as above. It seems to happen if it is trying to download a picture while viewing and you go back to the headlines screen. I just try to let pics load before going back... no solution though. Kill with WM task manager.
Same problem here... no matter what version i try

Setup Application (first boot)

Hi all,
I tried searching the forums for this particular weirdness but could find it.
I recieved my HD2 last week and had the crackling ear piece problem, with no help from T-Mobile i decided to flash the device with the latest HTC Rom it corrected the problem and everything is working fine.
There is one little thing i have noticed though which is weird, when booting the phone for the first time when it had the TMO rom it gave me a pre-setup application or firstboot application whatever you want to call it.
With the new HTC rom it doesnt give me this when i hard reset is this normal?
Thing is when i turn off the phone for a brief moment it shows the same setup application as running in the background?
switch teh phone into airplane mode and you should find the background app comes to teh front and you can complete it.
wouldn't a task manager allow you to switch to it?

htc hd2 reboots while playing streaming video

Hi there, today i noticed that my htc hd2 rebooted when i was watching a streaming video with coreplayer.
I was messing around with some video quality settings, and then it happend, a reboot.
My first thought was hmm must be me messing with the settings, but then i just watched without messing around and after a couple of minutes it did reboot again ?
Does anybody else had this problem / fix? because it's quite annoying.
* edit this also happens in media player.
furthermore im running with 1.72 vodafone stock rom.
My phone never reboots this way, just with streaming video ?
hmm i've done some trial and error, and it seems that vodafone hsdpa connection causing this problem.
Because when i hook my phone on my pc, and using the data connection from my pc (so no hsdpa/3g but internet from my pc) my phone keeps running all the way.
wth ???
how can a 3g connection cause my phone to reboot in seconds ?
am i the only one with this problem?
because it also seems to happen in youtube, not that often but it had happen a couple of times

i know for sure it happens when data connection is on 3G/H/E. While if get internet access from wifi, the problem is not there.
i tried different ROMs and radios, i even changed the SIM card, but same issue.
The only way around, at least the one i know of, it is to disable 3G and HSDPA/HSUPA and stick to edge.
Sucks because edge is so slow.
HELP
BUMP UP....

Please! help us out.
HELP!

hmm i have reported my phone for repairservice, because i have a feeling it has something to do with heat/overheating or faulty mainboard.
If it's hot outside my phone does also reboots when i am listening to music and try to update the weather app at the same time.
It's just f*cked up if you can't even watch some silly youtube with a high tech smartphone...
For this kind of sh*t i could bought a much cheaper phone which could play youtube without any problem..
Good luck... let me know how that works out for you.
thx, and i will keep you informed
my phone is underway for repairs.
As soon as i have my phone back i will test again, if the problem persists i will send it back again (let's hope not).

Now it's running 99,9% stable @ Energy rom. You can imagine how happy i am now
Hope it stays that way, hoping the new mainboard won't die that soon again (just had it for 1 month =O).
Hey guys,
I am having the same exact problem!
I am curious if your phones were both from a similiar batch - would it be possible to post the s/n of your devices?
(you can xxxx out the last 4 digits of the s/n for security purposes)
I'll go first, my s/n is HT04HPF0xxxx
My HD2's s/n : : HT01CNW0xxxx
Mine is ht9Bwnw0xxxx
doesn't really seem to be that we have the same batch , also i got my phone late may 2010

help time slow to update and phone freezes all the time

hello i have the tmobile dash 3g and the phone keeps on freezing up when trying to go into and out of a text msg and the main screen will be blank when i turn the phone on from standby and the time will take awile to update to correct time. it has the tmobile rom latest 6.5 from there web site i have hard reset a 2 times and reflashed it a 2 times to no help.
any body know of this problem. the wife is about to run the phone over. she was using a blackjack 2 and its a slower device compared to the dash 3g but lol the dash is dog slow and takes forever to open close texts and the blackjack never had this problem. so i can only think this is something to do with htc. please anybody
nobody knows why, please the bigest problem is the text app takes forever to load or close,.
are there any custom apps that does not have this problem.
ok i just hard spl the phone and put back the phone to tmobile's 6.1 rom on and all issues are gone.
just a quick ? is all the 6.5 versions for the maple have the slow text msg problem where it takes forever to open or close.
Yay
Seems to me like nobody gives a shizz about the Snap 3G anymore... Anyhow I currently have this problem, which I never had on my old S620 and it is really annoying, hopefully I'll be upgrading to an HD2 in about two weeks...
So you just installed an old version of windows and trouble gone? I'm thinking about doing this... I'm running a 3Evo Series ROM and I really cant stand this...

No kiddin?!? I have 4 HTC phones. A Touch, TP, TP2, and a snap. (HTC fan) all with sprint. I can ask questions, and get answer for all the other phones even the touch. However, this phone seems to be dead. Don't know why? It's a great phone with good speed, graphics and whatnot.
Its a shame.
If you ever get despite go over to ppgeeks. they have a general "smartphone" category that some still view and reply to.
I have the T-Mobile Dash 3G with WM6.5. I don't have any slow down opening texts. I am relatively new to this phone and operating system but it sounds like a free memory issue. Since the OP said he has hard reset the phone, I would think that the temp folders have been emptied by default. Are there a lot of messages being loaded up from a remote server that could be taking up a lot of your phone's memory?
The only other thing I can think of is that there is a background program taking up a lot of memory that is only installed with 6.5 and not 6.1.

[Q] Android unstable. How to determine hardware malfunction?

I can`t find stable Android build.
The most common issue is boot-loop or whole application list crash every minute (according to ddms SDK tool)
I tried 15-20 different builds.
Even DFT Stock Desire doesn`t work on my phone: nonstop appcrash or bootloop.
Desire, Desire HD, Desire Z builds(NAND or SD doesnt matter): bootloop or whole application list crash 1-10 times in minute
Gingerbread/Cyanogen Mod 7 (small builds) (size<100mb) boots up, starts but: freezing, applist crash from time to time(once in half-hour). More stable.
Tried builds for ClockworkMod and DAF installation builds.
GB233/CM7 are more stable then others, but they are unusable on my phone because of freezing.
I tried the same builds on my friend`s HD2 and there were no problem with stability, small issues with robovoice e.t.c not a big deal.
I download and redownload builds, flash and reflash, do everything by instruction, always same result.
I guess the problem is hardware of my device, i need some advice how to determine the part and how to fix it(maybe change something in build config files, switch kernel, recompile kernel with some modules or additional options).
BTW: SD SuperRam build worked perfectly from WinMo6.5.
WinMo 6.5 and Windows Phone 7 work smooth - no complains.
Please help me out.
Some Android SD builds write in console output:
"Single bit error. Run memory test tool".
Configuration: WinMo1.66 => Task29(HSPL 2.08) + Radio 2.15 + Magldr 1.13
Sounds similar to my brothers HD2 problems but significantly worse. Superram worked great on his too but when Hr tried other SD and NAND builds he had issues. We have determined it must be a hardware issue. Two of my hd2s run fine. Don't know if there's a test or anything though...

Did you try to install ClockWorkMod Recovery and then install the rom from it ?
It fixed errors for many users.

Typhoon
Rafdroid
HyperDroid

DLDesire
NexusHD2-Gingerbread
FrankinstinDroid
BOYPPC-SHIFTPDA
Ultimate Droid

etc...
I think you have hardware problem, as mine.
I have continuous freezes or reboot especially when the phone is hot.
I tried to flash back also WM6.5 oem roms but nothing improved.
I tried also task29.
In my case the problem is simply retrievable... just start youtube (on every rom android/wm) and play a movie... and the phone freeze.
Today I'm calling HTC to understand how many months do they take my phone for repair!

Yes. In my case even if in WM (original ROM) I've freeze and reboots. At the beginning I didn't think so but after some tests expecially surfing web or watching youtube movies (both using 3G and not WiFi) I started to see freeze and reboots.
If in your case it's not so... effectively you're in a better situation.

I guess not
I could demand replacement of my device, but wm is stable more or less so this brick stays with me.

Did you try some stress test of the device?
I mean for example play some movies, download some youtube video, surf some complex web page, ... each time I tried by android/wm I had freeze or reboot. And as more temperature goes up as more frequent was the freeze/reboot.
Device became hot at the back-bottom.

WM:
movies: testing,
youtube embedded application: no problem
internet wifi/2g/3g: works fine
gps navitel: works
Any example of complex web page?
2ALL
Can anyone advice technic to catch and log the exceptions which occur when application dies or system_process crashes or when the system stuck?
Maybe I could use this info to contact local app or kernel developers for assistence?

What else?
DFT Stock Desire doesn`t work. It works everywhere.
I redownloaded it several times from different places(home, work) to be sure that files not corrupted. I even tried different usb cables to flash it.
It is unstable as hell on my device.
