Can anyone recommend a free image converter please.
I want to convert a bitmap file 240x350 to a small size 21x25
Any suggestions please.

How about a converter from jpeg to bitmap? What can I use?

cktlcmd: GIMP and paint.net are both free and are more than capable for simple jpg > bmp conversion.
However, even free-er than free, load a jpg into internet explorer, choose file > save as, and save as a .bmp. Voila

cktlcmd: VJBaseHue. Have a hunt around for ZeBoxx's posts/theory on the matter (also his enormous contributions in the Wiki).
VJBaseHue is, like most of my stuff, a command line tool.
If you need any help with command lines (I'm sure not!), check here:

check out ZeBoxx's example shortcuts that come with VJBaseHue.
Then use his online chart, choose a colour, and edit the shortcuts.

I'm using the Plus version, but basically you just point it towards a folder, containing subfolders or shortcuts to other folders, and it parses out a menu from there. Extremely customisable, too much so perhaps, but once I made the effort, I haven't changed my setup on both WM5 and Wm2003.

Yes, I got as far as this. I too bought the plus version after I read your recomendation about SmallMenu. I am glad I did. Basically my question was misunderstood. What I want to know is how can I change the format of small menu? I checked the settings in small menu and it has no options like the one showed on your picture from your above post. How can I make it look like your settings?
I was using the bitmap conversion to change the windows icon on the start menu using SmallMenu. I was successful to change the windows start icon to a Palm icon. Just playing around a bit.

Yes, the folder icons, etc... How did you arrange it that way? SmallMenu has no check lists as to which applications would be allowed to be showed or suppressed.

Ok, Assuming you're talking about my top level menu, !Favorites etc, I use the ! to ensure important folders come before any others. They're arranged alphabetically of course.
To get the icon in the menu, eg the star for favorites, you need an icon library in a dll or .exe.
10:
Make a shortcut (best perhaps with notepad the first time, after that use an explorer program) and write:
30#"\Windows\PHMShell32.dll,-173"
Save that into Icon.lnk.
Here I'm using the icon library that came with PHM Tools. Very useful.
Stick the Icon.lnk into any folder, and probably after a reboot, you'll have a star for your folder icon.
Goto 10

Ok. So now you have nicely iconed folders, just arrange your subfolders appropriately, and SmallMenu will parse and cascade .lnks and subfolders into nice menus.

Today calender/agenda & tasks plugin (free)

This is a great free today plugin 'TodayAgenda 0.9.9' by Marcel Tiews - its better than calendar + and very configurable and also shows all your tasks due etc.... It has a small footprint and works in qvga and vga resolutions.
Copy cab to device via activesync, click on file through file explorer, install to device - will load better as its a today plugin.

Is there a web page for it? I may wanted to try it out. PocketBreeze is a bit slow on my already slowed Charmer. However, I tried a lot of other plugins and PBzz is currently the best on for the price of $10.
One of the thing I like about PBzz is the integration of the Tasks and Appointments on the same screen, and birthdays too. Further, I found the others annoying is the fact that they named tomorrow just like any other date, which may undermined the importance of that particular task tomorrow. Hence, everytime I was looking at my Today screen, I have to particularly check todays date to ensure that if the next task/app on the screen is tomorrow or not.

Thats something your end - firewall or antiviral causing that. It downloads fine for me - try downloading on your wizard through internet explorer.

Ok. I've tested it. My comments as mentioned above,
It doesn't show tomorrow as 'Tomorrow' and, it doesn't even show today as 'Today'. Maybe someone would talk to the author and ask him to make those changes, which is, in my opinion a very good improvement.
But other than that, it is a very good today plugin.

Copy the cab file over to the device via activesync - place in \my documents on your phone - click on the cab file through file explorer on the device. Install to device not storage card. Do not unzip the file - cab file is a self installing archive.

right all done - is there anyway of tweaking it though so you can alter how many days it shows?

Click and hold on the panel in the today screen - and an option dialog will come up - you can change that through this.

Hello Everyone!
I'm developping a Launcher App and I need some beta testing on it. I've tested it over some wm6 emulators and on my Herald WWE with Touch-it ROM. It uses .NET CF 2.0.
Basically it contains some horizontal scrolling list's. The scrolling can be performed by using the finger over the screen. It is fully configurable through config.xml file placed in the installation directory. Currently you can add 3 types of "elements" to each scrolling list or row (see config.xml for some examples):
- Icons: you can add the icon path (theorically every size is accepted) asociated command execution with parameters. You can also add the attribute "rowspan" if you hace some larger icons in the list for them to get more rows in the list.
- Allcontactswithphoto: this element will automatically load all the contacts you have with asociated photo. It includes a max attribute to avoid allocating all the device memory if you have lot's of contacts with photos.
- folder: this will add shortcut to all the files located in the directory especified.

Sorry, The screenshot does not contain the contacts photodial because I don't have contacts in the emulator .
Currently it doesn't allow:
- Changing between screen sizes (this includes landscape and portait). But it theorically can work with almost every screen size.
- Specify contacts to include in photodial.
Please, any feedback, advice or bugreport would be apreciated . And by the way, sorry for my english....
In the package there are also included some example icons taken from deviantart. I don't remenber the place or author I take them from. If someone find's them out please tell me.

kpyto, please, make sure you have this folder in the file system:

If you dont have it, change the path in the config.xml to point to your programs forder of the start menu or just remove it (the line of the config.xml).

Ok, thats probably because of the languaje of the rom.... The programs folder of WWE ROM's is \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\..... You may have to change the path included in the config.xml 20th line, or if you tell me which is the Start Menu path of your ROM I will post here an apropiate config.xml file.
Any way, here you have a cab with config.xml without the line pointing to the folder. Just reinstall it...

\Windows\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\.....
for french rom.
but i found the prog in the \Program Files\ThrottleLauncher folder.

But I would like it as a today plugin rather than as a today screen itself, because i miss a clock and apps that tell me about msgs and calls and stuff.

works as advertised on sprint touch...love teh interface, however is it possible to put it as a today plugin so that it can be used as a scrollable horizontal bottom bar or 2....something like a scrollable sprint home launcher...
it scrolls very smoothly though.

batcatman, you can add more apps by changing the config.xml. You can also add more rows with the elements described in my first post. To add another app short cut for example, just place inside a row tag in the config.xml a row like this:
<icon path="icons\Internet.png" exec="\Windows\IExplore.exe"/>
path: is the path to the icon.
exec: is the path to the exe file of the linked app

since I'm about to develop WM application, I wanted to get into WM restrictions for C#.
So there the app is - it lets you setup Magnifier (setting timeouts, enabling "features", ..) plus adding/deleting apps in which will be Magnifier disabled.
It was built for QVGA on WM6.5 build 23034 CSY, but it should run on all resolutions.
It needs .NET compact framework!

Just copy it to your device (anywhere) and run the .exe.
It is early beta version, it will probably fail to set some parameters properly (converting from bool to dword is the biggest problem), so when you find something, tell me. Thanks.
Also, some settings (I've done it from registry, I hope I got all options named correctly) might not work as expected, but that must fix MS in WM itself (like Ellipse option).

I guess that some settings might not work (like staying (un)checked) so just tell me (I always write Elipse instead of Ellipse and always search for this mistake half an hour ).

Well.This is great however I have a major issue. No SIP so I can't type anything in. I'm trying this on my Omnia which is 240X400 and the bottom bar is completly covered and I don't have a hard keyboard.

I'm creating new WM theme for myself, you can get them on internet, resize them to 16x16px (PNG) and then name them as <themename>_bubble_flag.png and _bubble_ok.png and _bubble_foo.png if I remember right (I'm not at home at this moment, sorry).

So here is a program for those of you in need!
Here are the functions:
1. you can bookmark pages
2. It will save the last page that you are in automatically
3. It saves the last orientation of the device
4. Both vertical and Horizontal views
5. Next, Previous buttons
6. Clear, big texts
7. Tap and Hold on pages to choose to:
bookmark
go back to the main page
exit
8. You can choose to go to certain : Page, Part, or even chapter
9. Choose orientation in the main page
10. tap the screen to "Page Down" (particularly useful in Diamond which has a smaller screen)
If this is used in any way, or it is to be published in any other place, IT HAS TO BE FREE as this is an open-source program. And the source code should be included if you change anything in the program!

I have been looking for such a program even before this Ramazan, but to my unfortunate i couldnt find any.
Once I download and install it, I will post a reply once I go through it thoroughly and check every feature.
Edit:
After going through the screenshots, I can say that this program is based on screenshots of Holy Qur'an, but not a textual version.
This isnt a real solution for those who are looking for features like enlarge and shrink font, so that word wrap will occur accordingly.
However, once I download this, I will post again..

After installing this application, I can say that it didnt live upto my expectations. However, I am happy since i got Qur'an installed on my pocket PC, which is really great and my desire.
I will be looking through for a program which can actually use text, not scanned images of pages of Holy Qur'an, so that I can zoom in and out and read easily.

Look guys, 1153 people have downloaded this application! could you at least give some feedback? any errors? have you tried it on any other device other than the ones stated?

benedict.s the following quran apps work on my Touch Diamond;
uQuran from guidedways [dot] com
(navigate to Downloads > Mobile Softwares > uQuran: Micro Quran Reciter)
and
Pocket Islam from pocketislam [dot] com
(Download page link is on the right hand side under the blue Pocket Islam clock icon)
I've tried quite a few and between them they offer the best features (translation / transliteration / bookmarks / recitation etc.)
Out of the two Pocket Islam is the fastest but the font is pixelated and uQuran is slower but supports the higer screen resolution Diamond screen.
both are free
but uQuran Pro has lot more features. check out their website for more info.

Try Pocket Islam... it has quran, namaz timings, audio, qibla etc etc.. and I think its free..
but good effort though

I made this for touch hd! Since the screen size was different than the previous ones, I did not find a working quran program!
About pocket islam, I do not know if it has any support for the Touch HD, but I believe you cannot have big texts in it while having kept the page format!
