Youtube app. doesn't play video over 3G - Touch HD General

I have a problem with Youtube program on my HD.
When I'm connected to WiFi, everything works ok.
But when I'm connected to 3G, Youtube doesn't want to play videos. I can search the videos, see the thumbnails and description, but when I select the video, the comand line with play, stop, etc. opens and just shows Connecting. After a while there's an error that the video can't be played.
If I watch youtube videos through Opera or IE with streaming, they work ok also over 3g...
I've got SPB pocket plus 4.0.3. beta installed and other programs like Garmin, core player, montecristoff hd tweak, etc.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong ?
Thanks Andrej

If I am correct this problem can be solved with the proxy settings.

Youtube movies?

Is it possible to get Youtube movies working on the BA (running WM6), and if so, what player do I need?
The TCPMP player gives me a "RTSP protocol not supported" error when trying to look at a Youtube movie :/
hi there!
there is some kind of plugin/addon, which allows you to download youtube movies to your pda....
just search this forum or google for it, here is ONE source!
hope that helps....
regards,
krz
I have that tcpmp plugin, and it does work most of the time. I've run into some files on youtube that still give me an unknown media format error. Not sure why.
The Avot Media Viewer that someone posted about here a week or so ago works great though.
http://www.avotmedia.com/
http://m.avotmedia.com/
The Avot is OK but it needs much work to be more than OK.
I use the vTap.
http://veveo.net/
Use the search bar to browse uploaded videos from any embedded video website (like youtube, metacafe etc).
You can also have a feature of searching into wikipedia articles!
Very cool...
After doing a bit more digging, I installed Streaming Media v 2.10 build 518.700 (from High Tech Computer Corp.) on it.
It's working GREAT!
Download link and more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313961
hi everyone!
well, i installed the HTC STREAMING cab, which was included in xplode's cabs. i dont know, what version this actualy is...
anyway, i can playback youtube movies, but the performance sucks big time.... lots of stuttering, not enjoyable at all.... is it just me experiencing this problem?
is the BA oo slow to playback such vids?
or am i doing something wrong here?
thx in advance,
krz
you should check your internet connection too...
me again!
have to add, that i now have the FLASHVIDEOBUNDLE.cab installed, which not only gives me great streaming playback using TCMP Player (make sure u have installed the right version first!), but in addition to that gives me the oppotunity to save the flash videos to your storage right away....
VERY COOL CAB!!! KUDOS 4 THE (true) CREATORS!
btw: that STREAMING thing that came with xplode's cabs still doesnt work... (my internet connection is of course up and running!!)
cheers,krz
okay, after playing around a little bit and after installing/deinstalling/reinstalling HTC STREAMING Software, i am afraid i screwed up flv playback completely...
every time i try to load a youtube site, pocketIE crashes and my device freezes, leaving me with soft reset as only solution!
i tried to play back flvs on the youtube mobile site as well, with no sucess. nothing happens! the vids just dont load....
ARGH!!!!!

what streaming client do you have installed?
the one, that came with xplode's cabs?
or that one: RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.rar?
the easy and fast way, install my streaming media cab open m.youtube.com and it will stream with the player just fine, tested and working

well did you installed audio manager also ?, inside the cab there is verinfou.dl which is needed for most of the HTC software, but if you install them both it will work

Using HTC YouTube app to view embedded YouTube content on a webpage

Hi,
First off, I have done my research! I promised... looked through the posts (Wiki page/Tips & Tricks..) and can't seems to find anything pertaining to this.
What I'd like to know is:
- Is there a way to view YouTube video embedded in a webpage (Web Browsing using Opera Browser that comes with my HD2) by using the inbuilt HTC YouTube app - Eg. tap on the YouTube video on a webpage, HTC YouTube app starting automatically to play the video.
Thanks in advance!
Douglas
Ps. HD2 ROCKS!!!
Hi
As far as i Know (my HD2 is on its way and my HD on Ebay ) the opera doesn't have a flash support yet but the IE mobile browser on HD2 does have flash embedded which means that you get a flash player startet by tapping on your video
I've seen that also on a review on youtube....
Cheers,
LEE
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I'm really want this to work in Opera browser... I suppose such is life...
works perfectly in Opera 10 Beta 2...click the video and it opens in the streaming player.

Hi... Did u have to install anything other than Opera 10 B2? As I'd just tried it out, and YouTube content on the webpage just shows a place holder with text showing "Plug In Content"... Did I do something wrong..?
As far as I'm aware, the only browser which allows this is Skyfire. I use that for video and Opera for all other browsing (as Skyfire is a bit pants really).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Check out that thread. If you follow all the steps, you can also watch youtube and other flash sites in Opera.
It's also possible with IE and Skyfire.
I would prefer when browsing youtube, that it would open the youtube application, which gives better quality and speed.
The only way I've found for the youtube app to work is to stream from m.youtube.com with opera.
That's the only way I've got it to work its not the best as I hate the layout of mobile youtube but it works, like you, the youtube site on opera doesn't show any clickable links or videos for the hd2's youtube client to work with.
Well yes, I meant on m.YouTube.com, and other mobile sites. On a mobile after all.

And with Opera 10 final?
Tks!
youtube works on Opera 10 without need for m,
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile 10 doesn't stream youtube, mobile or desktop version.
Having a look to Opera's and other forums, it can't stream youtube...
Mine does, search around this forum for /TX Opera Mobile10 With Flash /in the settings enable Plugins.
but it does stream youtube through the streaming media player instead of the youtube player and the quality is quite decreased....
If it streams via any external player it's ok for me, it is important that it doesn't play in browser, because quality is worst...
It's exactly what I'm searching for, mine actually plays in browser or doesn't play, so, how to make it play in streaming player or youtube or core player?
The latest version of Opera will stream youtube video and depending upon your connection it is either good or bad.......
Are you sure?
My Opera Mobile streams no video...

Playing Youtube videos in [email protected]

Recently purchased a HD2 and was trying to play you tube videos with the factory installed youtube app but it doesnot work,
Tried opening youtube webpage in opera/IE and tried palying the videos but of no use. Could some one tell me hoe to play you tube videos
why the installed youtube-app didnt work for you? it works flawlessy here, no matter if I connect via UMTS / HSDPA or simply EDGE..
You cant play youtube-videos via a browser because there is no flash-plugin installed within them.
but if you really want to play them via opera, just install opera 10 mobile and activate the flash-plugin in the settings.
i have a 3g connection & even trie with the wi-fi connection in both cases it fails

try a hardreset?

YouTube videos open in Streaming Media with audio only, no video

When I first got my Tilt 2 I could play youtube videos fine, but now I just get audio, no video. When I launch youtube URLs they open in the browser and get redirected to m.youtube.com. When I click "Watch Video" it launches HTC Streaming Media, the About screen shows 3.10h (Build 1918.1332). The app connects and buffers just fine, and the sound is fine, but no video. The screen is just black (or grey actually, sometimes with random back bars). No difference in Portrait or Landscape mode.
I'm still using the AT&T ROM, I've installed a few apps but no media players. If I manually launch the YouTube app from \Windows\YouTube the video and audio are great. This About screen shows 2.6 (Build 1917.4121).
I searched this forum and the general forum for youtube and "streaming media" but didn't find an answer.
Did I do something to change the default player for RTSP? Should I even bother fixing the Streaming Media app or just figure out how to change the default player to the YouTube app?
youtube URLs never open in the youtube app as far as i know. but try a hard reset because even in streaming media, you should be getting video.
I've got a lot of apps installed and custom settings, it's not worth a hard reset just to get youtube videos when everythign else works.
Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?
Have you tried Pyrorobs youtube update?
Streams fast and works allright.
It only doesnt support landscape atm.
Hello... First, my English is not very good, i using Freya ROM, 23138, it's very good... but i have sound problems when stream from youtube using Streaming Media, there is no sound, only video is playing, i can't set up eny other player to be default streaming player when i open opera mini and m.youtube.com to stream. How can i fix sound problem in streaming media when i watch youtube stream? Any codec, or fix, patch, reg key or something to fix that stupid problem? I try using TCPMP end registry change rtsp key, opera mini than doesn't recognize stream and then i see rtsp error, i have all plugins installed for tcpmp and youtube and codecs. Please help me to use streaming media, i like it, or setting up other default rtsp player (example TCPMP)! Thanks

iPlayer not working

Hi guys,
I recieved the phone yesterday. Brilliant phone.
However the videos on the iplayer app and the iplayer website do not work. The "play" button shows up on screen, the video begins to load (the little circle icon shows but it freezes) and it never plays.
Youtube works great so I cant see it as a flash issue, which I had updated too.
Any ideas?
Try installing/updating adobe flash and adobe air both from market.
On the default browser, make sure in settings -> enable plug-ins ...is set to always on
just tried mine with some top gear and it works works really well too
I know this sounds stupid, but you need to be connected via WiFi to watch TV programmes in the iplayer. So just to test, deactivate the data connection and browse the internet - possibly go to the bbc website and see if you can watch any of their news clips. If that works then try the iplayer.
Thank you very much for the reply guys,
I installed flash and air, and I also made sure data connection was turned off and wifi was the only thing on.
iPlayer still fails to load a video, and the bbc news website clips show the message "This content doesn`t seem to be working - try again later"
PS: just to confirm, the news clips works with a mobile data connection, just not wifi and iplayer asks for wifi, it must be my wifi. Thanks for the suggestions !
