Have anyone noticed that the phone wakes up at midnight?
The backlight goes on even if the phone was in stand by....?
What is a Vampire-Phone?
Will it kill me while I am sleeping???
Does anyone know why???
Thanks

yes i have seen this on my phone. it would drain my battery when i wake up in the morning, (I didn't set the power settings to let it go to sleep).
I cannot say if it is fixed because right now I have the power settings to put it to sleep in 1 minute if nothing's happening, I have also hard resetted my phone since then. but I blieve it was some third party application I installed before.

Hello, today i wake up with G-Alarm akarm, clicked on snooze, and after that i usually click on close button to exit alarm, the problem is that after i hit snooze, the phone was blocked and nothing was working (neither the power button). I had to remove the battery to reboot the phone. Is that a phone problem or g-alarm bug? I hope it won't happen again.
anyone? thanks
I had the exact problem this morning. I think G-Alarm was written specifically for WM5 so we may be asking a lot of it to run on WM6.1. Still its another in a long list of dissapointing experiences with this phone and os.

Try Klaxon alarm, seems decent and stable

Same question .. ^^
It's a normal thing or not ? Don't know if the HD does that before installing/uninstalling TFDetacher ..
well mine doesn't do this so it has to be a recent software you installed.
I have seen several people mention it on here before but not so sure anyone had a solution?
Only thing I have installed on mine is G-Alarm?
it's g-alarm thing and i dont see why it is a big deal to a lot of ppl. it's only like for one mins and then it goes back off.. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL PPL. i dont get it anyway sorry i am not helping but had to take this off my mind

I gave it hot cocoa that didn't work... still woke up at midnight so I tried sleeping pills... same thing again dead on midnight it wakes up - the hot bath however definitely did the job; problem is that it hasn't woken up since
Sorry I couldn't resist!

again it's only for one min. dont you think you're throwing it a little out of proportion.. anyway i am used to bashing my head against a wall but i couldnt do it this time because of all the blood!!. this has been discussed before at least two times to the best of my recollection with no positive results so i am guessing you're going to have to take it with you inside the mattress
Of course it's not a big deal, it's just a " strange" things ..
It's maybe a feeling but i found that my battery drain faster after midnight
So, sometimes i do a soft reset at 00:01
I'll have to do some tests
This is the reason...

It's so that the notification queue can be rebuilt for the next day. It happens anyway in Windows Mobile but G-Alarm offers to extend the amount of time allowed for rebuilding as there's a known bug with the default setting that sometimes doesn't allow enough time for it to finish (15 seconds default and G-Alarm offers to alter it to 2 minutes iirc).
Its biiig problem with that midnight wake

well it actually is BIG problem for me as it is not just for one minute.... somehow when it wakes at midnight it stays on and does not want go sleep again, overriding the settings which i set for keeping backlight for 1 min., and obviously as a result i get drained battery in the morning which is so frustrating as i do not have time to charge it again...so for me that is A BIIIG PROBLEM...
is it the only solution to take off g-alarm?? kind of like it and got so used that really do not want to part with it
Thanks for the few who mentioned it seems to be G-Alarm.
inspireme87 - think you need to chill out my friend........... No, its not a BIG problem for me, I thougt I was just asking a simple question/query
On a few occasions I notice it's got "stuck" and not gone back to sleep as mentioned above so I have to press the power button to make it sleep.

http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/manual/limitations#AlarmBug
2. Windows alarm bug
Windows Mobile has on some devices a strange behaviour: Although an alarm is successfully added to the WM notification queue (it's like a scheduler) it doesn't go off.
Searching the web gave me following information:
At midnight WM rebuilds the notification queue, therefore it wakes up for about 15 seconds. If the notification queue is too big or the device too slow WM goes to sleep again before it could finish building the queue for the next day.
If you force WM too stay awake for a longer time, it should successfully build the queue on at least more devices.
If you start G-Alarm and it complains about the Windows alarm bug, you've got the default WM settings (15 seconds WakeUpTime). If you press "Yes" G-Alarm changes it to 120 seconds which should be enough.
Here are the registry values G-Alarm changes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ACResumingSuspendTimeout
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\BattResumingSuspendTimeout

I fully agree.
I was talking about things from my point of view/issues I have experienced. The times I have noticed it failing to go to sleep, I have still been awake so noticed the light still on in the room so luckily didn't find my battery was flat in the morning.
I will remove G-Alarm to make sure it's the problem and see what happens.

I had the same problem... and I noticed that during the day a windows error occured, maybe from GAlarm? the problem is that several times I found my battery to 2 or 3% in the morning...
Thanks for the advice for Galarm (I didnt understood why the device was not shutting down by itself at midnight)

i did found solution, though u need registry editor in order to make it work... change the value of the string in HKCU\Software\ageye\G-Alarm\MidnightWakeUp from True to False. from now on you will not be bothered by waking of your toy and alarm will be working as normal... at least my does.

Thanks for the tip I will give it a try
Mind you most mornings now I am finding G-Alarm seems to hang/crash my phone? The first alarm goes off as expected, i press the snooze button then sometimes it will go off again and then hang.
The G-Alarm screen remains on phone, with the screen lit, and nothing responds, not even holding in the power button. I have to remove the battery.
So might just scrap it as it seems a bit "buggy".
I have same trouble and there is no G-Alarm app on my HD so I think I have problems with another app...
I have noticed that my x2a goes out of standby when I am putting it into its case (on my belt). This causes the display to turn on again -- wasting battery time and possibly starting programs.
Has anyone else noticed this? I find that if I hold the phone for an additional 3 seconds befor I place it into the case, going out of standby does not appear to happen ... but that could be just operator error ... and I have tried to avoid hitting any of the buttons when inserting the phone, but the whole thing could be operator error ... or, like I think, that the phone is sensing a position change and jumping out of standby ...
Is there a fix for this?
I thought I'm the only one experiencing that problem.. The thing is, my phone is just on the table and in standby mode and then for some reason it just opens... Very weird..
Sometimes it happens to me too. i don't know why it happens.

Just a far shot:
Are you guys by any chance using the OneBridge syncronisation software?
I had this problem but it disappeared when my company switched to Activesynch/WMA for Exchange syncronisation.
i noticed my phone was doing this to, so i set it down and watch it for a while and noticed the screen will turn on when it is updating my weather or email, so this may happen when ever it automatically connects (due to some email, weather, ect.) you can try turning off data connection, and see if that changes anything. good luck

sorry that didn't work, i'm just thinking out loud now, but my phone has recently stopped turning the screen on by itself. uhm things i've downloaded recently was the SDfix.cab and the htcSDK.cab but both of those wouldn't effect it. uhmmm. is there possibly something running in the background? the only other thing i can think of is lock your phone so you won't push button while its in your pocket, and wait for an update (which an update is unlikely to come out). sorry i couldn't help

It's okay dude, I did what you said.. I locked my phone whenever I have to put it in standby mode, and great... It doesn't turn on by itself.. so I'm guessing that I pushed some buttons while the phone is in my pocket...
cheers mate!
It's the magnet!
I know the question was asked a while ago, but noone has posted this as a possible reason.
There is a magnetic sensor for opening the keyboard in the top left corner of the device. When you move your phone near a magnet (most phone cases' covers are held by magnets) it will detect opening the keyboard and go out of standby.

I just tried that, and it does some out of standby when I pull it out of the case ... I was wondering why that happened -- sometimes, and not others -- and that answers the issue of pulling it out of the case ...
Thanks for that explaination ...
But there are other times when it goes out by itself ... but I have it is the case most of the time now, and not on the charger ... so it is not really an issue for me anymore, but it is another mistery solved ...
Yup, my X2 does the same annoying thing.
I agree, best way is to lock the screen.
I noticed that the screen part of the phone is kinda wiggly...
I'm currently running cm7.02 nightly #94 with a color theme.
I can see that sometimes my phone doesn't sleep properly. There are periods of time 1-2 hours long when the phone is awake with the screen still off.
What is the quickest and the most efficient way to figure out which process is doing that?
Thanks.
Spare parts, download it click battery history and them partial wake lock or something. I'm not sure if it still works. It would force close on sense 2.3 don't know about asop

I like using Process Monitor Widget. Download it from the market. Open it up, then hit menu>record. keep the phone unplugged, turn the screen off, and let the phone sit for like 5-8 hours with Process Monitor Widget recording (preferably overnight). Then, stop recording, and hit analyze. It should be evident what is causing the wake lock.

I'm going to second and say use Spare parts, super easy and it will tell you what is keeping the phone awake.
Man best way to tell is to go to the menu and click on about phone all the way at th e bottom and check your battery there is a uptime and awake time if you are having wake issues both of these numbers will be the same even when the phone is off.
Been running synergy nightlys with latest OTA no wake issues for me.

Sorry for the delay. When you have process monitor widget open, if you press menu, one of the options is record. Press that to start recording. Let it sit for a few hours, then go back into process monitor widget. When you press menu, you'll see it says recording. Press that to stop recording, then press the analyze button and review the results.

It's clearly haunted.
Or an app is waking it up to sync / find location / steal and transmit your data.
Have you tried running Avast ? Locking all the running apps ?

quite strange..
I don't believe apps can turn it on when it's off..so if you turn your N7 off, your alarm is disabled. at least, I'm pretty sure of that.
And, so you watch it turn off all the way? And later on it's on?
Is it plugged in to the charger?
Have you ever watched it for a little while [while you were doing something else, just glancing at it once in a while] to see if it just randomly turns on?

really? but how does that work?
that means the clock app must be able to control the rtc hardware, and tell it to power up at a certain time... I didn't know they'd done that on the N7...

Or I suppose if you like you could disable calendar sync in Accounts & Sync, and then erase Calendar's data.
