i uninstalled an opera upgrade and then opera doesnt work. i installed the latest beta from opera to get a clean install but i think the link to opera is lost as it wont start when i press the "launch browser" button.
how can i sort this out?

I have also the problem, that after installation to the new Opera and uninstalling the old one, the "Launch Browser" doesn´t find the link to Opera.
I checked the registry and I follow actually all advises from this forum, but no one was successfully.
I wrote one time ago, that the xml-file to this "Lauch Browser (link)" has to be changed, but what I said before, I can´t remember.
I think it can be developed to a big issue, because if we want to upgrade or totaly changing the Browser, the link to "Launch Browser" will not work anymore.
So please, if anyone knows how to change the link, let us know.

I'm afraid the only way i fixed this was to hard reset.

but to do an hardreset, is not an successfull solution. In Diamond Forum they discribe how to do with the xml-file, but they don´t say wich file it is. some they say it is a Manilafile some other people say it isn´t a manilafile.
Even other People said that any change they are doing is not functionally.
What I don´t understand is, we have so many seriously developers they can even change our HD to anything else what we ask for, of any Theme of any Slider of any Topbar, but it seems that there is no one, who can really help.
Soon or later, we all will get problem, because if Firefox or any other Browser will developed to higher and faster Browser, we will like to have it, but if we install it, than we can delete one from the 15 Sliderbutton "Browser"

i have turned all the plugins off and just toggled this on and off but cant see owt...
is it another missing piece of software on this rom like opera?

You mean "should be" a lot of people, including me have had problems where it doens't show up anywhere.
I've had three of these so far, and none have it installed. It installs Cabs with "opera" in them on the hard reset, but nothing shows....
Does anyone know what this T-Mobile @ Home should be?
Can no-one provide a screen shot of what this "T-Mobile @ Home" thing should look like??? :-(

I dont think it should "look" like anything, I think it modifies behaviour of the device in an un-specified way. You dont actualy "see" a today item.
I had an Ameo, It had opera. I did a hard reset, Opera was gone!!!
I replaced the Ameo (for another fault) and that one has opera, a hard reset and opera is still there.
Very strange.
I was one of those who had missing Opera during one of the hard reset. However, I think it is not missing, but merely not installed properly. You recall that whenever a CAB run there is a prompt to confirm that we would authorise the installation of a software? I believe that I might have absent mindedly provided the wrong response without realising it, and the device merely obeyed my instruction to leave it out from the installation.
I can't see opera in my programs screen either.
However it opens when I press the web'n'walk button.

Opera is on all of them but it may be called Web & Walk instead, it is a branded version of Opera developed for T-Mobile
In the Internet page when I click on launch browser nothing happens, I can't find Opera using file manager. Anyone else having this problem ???
Opera should be in Start, Programs... If it's not there, then there's something wrong with it. Did anything odd happen when you were starting it up for the first time?
Yeah it should be under programs and you should also be able to see it on the internet tab in touchflo 3d too, try a hard reset and let it go through the restart
cheers fellas tried all that, it doesn't seem to be there... Ive emailed HTC support but downloaded 9.5 beta, which I must admit works beautifuly, I'll see what HTC say but its no stumbling block on what seems to be a fantastic phone !!!
I take it you have already tried carrying out a 'Soft Reset', or the more vigorous 'Hard Reset'?

I wrote more than three times to the sony ericsson-support...but they answered me to make a hard-reset and use opera mobile instead of internet explorer.
I thought they're just kidding me...because I wrote them that there are few people having the same problem USING OPERA on studivz.net...
ohere you may see the problem with a black col that becomes bigger and bigger each time I press any link on the page...

got the same problem on meinvz and other pages aswell.
just keep in mind ... the opera version u are using is still BETA. it has plenty of bugs (hardcoded text block formatting f.e.)
well ... we'll see what future versions and browser bring here.

Does it need flash or anything? I can't see anything using the dev tools
Have you tried netfront browser?
the 3.5 "concept version" is one of my favourites, not to everyones taste but might be worth a try.

I found a support-mail-contactmailer on the webpage of opera and informed them about this issue. sent the link to this video as well.
perhaps I'll give the netFront a try...but I'd more like to use the opera...
the page doesn't use flash...but ajax. for opening message-windows (in the video you may see, it doesn't work with opera...)
well, I installed the new official rom and this issue has gone.
works find now. but ajax-messages won't open at all.

and I hate that you have to zoom in before you are able to click a link/input-field in the new build of opera.
hope they make this "feature" checkable per box in the settings.
or anybody may find out, what to change in the registry.
another fine thing would be a tutorial that describes how to set opera opening tabs in the background instead of making new tabs active.
especially on ebay this is bugging me.
and at last I think it would be great to set the identity of opera as desktop-browser. I hate google-, gmx-, or especially ebay-mobile... if I could choose the identity of opera all would be fine

Hope someone can help me with this. I have installed opera 9.7 beta onto my HD but cannot work out how to set it up so that when I press the internet tab it uses 9.7 and not 9.5. Does anyone have a way of doing this?

i`m using "Three" 3G provider in Hong Kong and it takes ages to surf the net. i put the sim in my old N95 and the browsing is much faster. so it must be my HD. i tried changing the cache settings etc as suggested when i searched the issue but its still a crap net surfing experience.
any suggestions anyone?

Thanks for that however, the first version demonstrated using total commander does not work as I can't save the file due to write protection, I have tried to remove it using the comment idea by Lace in the fuze mobility site but it still won't save.
The second version works OK but the shortcuts still revert back to Opera 9.5. If I don't use the shortcuts then it uses 9.7.
Using Total Commander, I changed the assossiation of InternetPortal-en-GB.xml to Opera9-ml.exe from Opera9.exe and the icon file as well, these are both in the program directory. This appears to work but I don't know which version of Opera it is actually using, is there a way of checking this?

Sorry - I have no idea how to correct that...
i had to do a hard reset.
then i added links to the opera6 adr file which put the links in the TF 3d, but it still doesnt work very well.
i`ll continue to post if i`m successfyl.
ok, i got it to work. sort of.
firstly i added <BrowserExe>\Windows\OperaL.exe</BrowserExe>
to the “InternetPortal-en-US.xml”.
then i moved the OperaL and opera9-ml files to windows. when i renamed the opera9-ml to opera9 as suggested it didnt work at all, it just says cant find the file. so i left it as is.
if i click on a bookmark the opera mobile small splash screen starts and then it hangs. if i press the "x" and close it, the browser opens and goes to the link. so i suppose it works, but its a bit annoying i have to press the x everytime.
if anyone has a solution let me know. thanks

This maybe unrelated but those characters look like Wingdings font perhaps when your on some sites it changes your Tacoma font to these, just maybe its the prob have a look in Menu/Format/fonts see if the font selected has changed

the screenshot looks like a word document try going into mobile word menu should be on bottom right, Im only guessing at this fix, if you can give me more details on what steps you take
what site you went to did you go on with Opera or explorer etc I will do the same and see if i can help

the first screenshot is definitely wingdings font Im not sure why this happens in normal typing it is usually changed only in a word document,
Try this first open word, new file then look at your options, format, font.
or tey changing the keyboard from Qerty to any other keyboard see if the font changes.
If not search for font issues maybe someone else knows i will also search see what i can find
you could also type opera:config into your opera browser and see what font is used i see a few problems with opera too with this font so your not the only one.
look at css fonts and also font see what it says mine say tahoma
weee, that did it, under Fonts Font.Text and PRE was Wingdings for some reason
