Hi Folks!
I´ve one problem with my HTC Touch Diamond (WM 6.1):
When i am downloading Software (f.e. DiamondHologram_v1.0.cab) it get saved as DiamondHologram_v1[1].0.cab. when i want to install it, it doesn´t work.
Some Ideas???
Installing .cab
How did you install it? .cab files need to copied to your device and executed there (by tapping on them). If you've installed this way, then you have installed properly. If you have an issue with the software not working for some reason, you need to read the thread where you got the software from.
Please be aware, most of the software developed here requires .NET CFv3.5 installed on your device. This isn't on your Diamond when you buy it (it's running v2.0). You can get this from Microsoft's download area for free. If you search, you may even find it here in this forum somewhere.

Hi
No replies so far on the Elf Forum so trying here (sorry for cross-posting)
I have a Touch (Elfin) with a Vodafone ROM (Spanish)
I've tried installing the Camera application from the Kaiser
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ghlight=camera
, but after installation, get an error similar to "Cannot open "Camera" not digitally signed with a trusted certificate...."
I then tried copying Camera.exe (and all Camera related files) from a Touch Dual, and before moving them to the Windows directory, tested just trying to run this version from a folder
Again, I get the same error about not being digitally signed...
Has anyone else managed this?
Aside from wanting the "newest" version, I mainly want either one of these versions so it opens CameraAlbum (or HTCAlbum) directly from the Camera, instead of PIMG.exe as the standard Touch Camera does (Version 4.11 Build 28787)
I've searched quite a few threads, and I've seen that the only options for this are either to rename HTCAlbum.exe as PIMG.exe (which I'd prefer not do do) or installing a different version of Camera.exe
So as I said, anyone been able to do this?
I HAVE already disabled Security warnings with the Schaps Tool
I even downloaded the MS Mobile Device Security Configuration Manager and as far as I can tell, my phone has the certificate which both the orginal Elf and the Touch Dual's Camera.exe are signed with...(OEM Sign 2005)
Thanks
Ok I know this sounds like a typical newbie question but I haven't come across a problem installing cabs before.
A friend has just got a touch dual on orange and can't install any cab files on the device.
I naturally thought he must be doing something wrong as it's the first windows device he's had.
I showed him how to tap on the cab file. Nothing happens. tried again.double tapped.nothing.
I copied the cab to internal memory and still wouldn't install. this was with a cab for a larger keyboard and a game he downloaded.
I know I thought. I will try some cabs from my memory card that I have installed on other pocket pc phones.
I tried smart explorer. nothing happens. The screen flashed briefly then just shows the normal file manager screen.
Is there something different on the touch dual in the way it handles cab files ?
He does have a zip file manager listed in his program manager that I haven't seen before but trying to use this to do something with the cab doesn't do anything either.
I looked at the wiki and did a search under this forum for cab but couldn't find any info.
google search just offers info on how to install cabs which is, as explained not the problem.
The phone just doesn't seem to recognise the cab file and so won't install any.
Help and advice warmly received.
Thanks.
Mrmond.

see what you saying. orange do lock their roms but this still allows signed cabs to be installed with a message do you want to install this program ?
I have app unlocked 4 types of spv/htc phones.
I have tried a cab files that is signed for orange handsets.
I get no message asking if I want to install or that it's from an unrecognised source (unsigned).
Usually after any warning message,if any youget given an opton to install to phone storage or memory card. this htc touch isn't even bringing up any kind of dialogue as to what to do with the cab AT ALL. Not even telling me I can't install because of security permissions which is what I would expect if the problem is to do with app locking etc.
As to sda-application unlocker. Is there a link to a version that will definately work with the touch ? Found some older versions searching the forum.

I have suggested this. Will get him to try this and try again with both signed and unsigned cabs.

I got my TC yesterday and it´s really nice.
First time i missed to stop the automatic install of the HTP software but after i saw what has been installed, i made a hard reset and stopped this.
The only feature i now see ihave to install is the camera, or are there some other IMPORTANT things which have been installed automatically?
Are there tools installed in ROM or why can´t i see them in the software removal list?
The only software you will see in the list is software that you install yourself.
Software cooked in the rom is not available in the list to remove.
Tried installing PocketSheild, and get an errormissing method exception this app requires a newer version of MS.net compact Framework than the version instaled on this device (?? the phone is only 3 weks old ??)
How do you find which version is on the phone? Whats the implications of installing a newer version (and which one do i choose!)?
thanks
\windows\cgautil.exe will tell you. I think WM 6.1 only comes with CF2.0 by default, although HTC certainly could have put CF3.5 in their default installer software (stuff that installs once only after a hard reset). I can't tell whether mine did this or whether I did it by hand. Nevertheless, you should be able to download/install it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en. There should be no issue installing it side-by-side with 2.0.
thanks, managed to downoad it, but how do you install it?
If you don't use Activesync, you may want to get just the cab file instead. Just google for NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, then instal like any other app, to the main memory.
Also, whilst you're about it, google netcfcfg.cab. This app lets you set windows CF policy, so that all apps which need CF2.0 to run will automatically use your newly installed CF3.5, which is apparently better and more stable.
The file sizes should be 2644KB and 34KB respectively.

Run it on your PC and then next time you connect your device via activesync, it will push and install the CAB on your phone. Well, that's the idea anyway..
.NET 3.5 probs still not solved
Sorry, but I dont have any idea how to solve my problems.
there are several apps (.cabs) which I cannot install on my device, neither on internal nor on external (sd-card) memory.
the device (htc 3600) still keep answering: this version is still part of the ROM.
but I stay with my problems and dont wont to risk a HR.
Any Ideas?
thxs in advance

Try the HTC 3600 forum section, I guess they might know more relevant information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=313
cheers!!!
works just fine. copy NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, install, soft reset and you're ready to go. Thanks!!!
Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of help with this if possible, basically at work, i have to constantly setup a load of HTC P6500 devices all running on windows mobile 6.1.
On each device I have to install certain programs from an sd card and update quite a few system settings.
Is there any way this can be done with a batch file perhaps, that would install all the software and update all the settings I need it to?
"XDA UC" could be what you are looking for, but it needs to be cooked in into WM.
I think there already is such a machanism in WM, but I don't really remember it's name...
.cab
make a .cab which has all the programs and settings.
maybe RunCC is in your ROM...
thanks for the help everyone, managed to get around this using SPB backup trial which let me essentially clone the device, and restore this back to the rest.
