Bluetooth file location - Touch HD General

Hi - I have just got my new Blacktone and i'm new to win mobile. I have enabled bluetooth and have successfully transferred a picture from my old phone onto the blackstone (it's a jpg). The problem is i don't know where the pictures are being saved to. They dont show up in the 'Picture and Videos' section and i cant find them anywhere using the file browser.
Please can somone help?
Thanks

You can find them in the \My Documents folder.

I've looked in there - do you know what sub folder it should store them in?

Files received over Bluetooth are normally stored directly in \My Documents not in any subfolder.
After you successfully receive a file, the HD asks you if you want to store it on the device. Have you done this?

I worked out what it was if anyone else has trouble.
There is a little icon at the top of the screen near the start button. You need to click on that and then it asks you if you want to save the file. Click Save and then it saves into \My Documents just like you said it would.
Thanks for the help, K_Hismoom - much appreciated!

No problem. Happy I could help

Hi, does anyone know how to change the default location of bluetooth beam files to storage card? Thanks.

Speaking about Bluetooth, i was trying to connect to the HTC HD from my Hp Laptop and it finds it but as soon as i click to connect, it says "Service File Transfer is not found on device"
what do i have to do? My brothers Nokia works no problems.
EDIT: I can send from HTC to PC but not the other way round.

Changing Bluetooth Default Save Location

do you guys know if there's a way to change the default save location when receiving a file via bluetooth? coz it keeps going to "my documents" and i would like it better if it went straight to my storage card instead.
Also, is there a way of transfering a file to just the devices that i paired, instead of always searching for the devices after selecting "beam file"??
It does make device pairing redundant if i have to search for them everytime.
Cheers
any help would be greatly appreciated...
anyone???????
I think this is a limitation of MS Bluetooth Stack. Haven't seen a solution for this as well.
Reckon there might be a registry entry that will do this?
i really hope there is a solution, coz it's a pain constantly cutting & pasting stuff to my SD card after each transfer. :x

Any suggestions on this too?? or is it another limitation of the MS Bluetooth Stack??

Am i stupid?

Hella all
First post
Got my HD love the Phone, but i have a slight problem, when i recieve Files via Bluetooth/Beam they dissapear into the abyss, i cannot find them anywhere, i have tried the search programme and traweld through every directory on my phone what if anything am i doing wrong?
slp
/Documents maybe ?
You are lucky to start ur WM experience with a device like HD
Nothing in /documents, i tried again today, wrote down the file name before it was sent so i couldn`t go wrong, did a search for the file, nothing found, its driving me mad
If you're using a programme like 'obex inbox' which lets you specify where to receive bluetooth files and if by chance you haven't configured it or configured it to receive files to 'My Device', then I believe you'll get the kind of behaviour you're describing. So, to check if you have obex inbox installed check in settings\connections and also in programs if it is there, and if it is, change the directory for receiving files.
Hopefully this should provide you some clue as to what might be going wrong...
Good Luck
Try /FTP in the storagecard. And to check if your phone received try sending an mp3 file then go to Music and click on Library > All Songs and your phone should search for every mp3 file. If the file couldn't be found there, then that means your phone failed to receive it!
Try DrYar bluetooth. It works much better, lets you specify incoming directory, and it installs an icon on main screen for quick bluetooth on/off . I had a lot of problems on my Hermes with default bluetooth also, and this is just so much better.
DrYar bluetooth
very quick silly question, cos i had a friend with the same issue.
When you are recieving the beam, you get the icon at the top. and when it has finished beaming, it is not yet saved, so you cannot access it. Now normally you should get a notification that you have received a file and ask you if you want to save it.
If the notification does not appear, tap the beam icon at the top and then it should.
tap yes and then it should appear in my documents or the folder you set in bluetooth FTP.
If it's not that, sorry for being daft, but you'd be amazed how many times i've been asked that on various different HTC phones...!

How to send a Photo via Bluetooth??

Hi,
I cannot seem to find how to send photo via bluetooth to another phone, if you open up the photo and choose the send icon you only have via Mail, Message, or Facebook?
Thanks!

you are right 100%. the only way you can send it by bluetooth is by going into explorer and going into the actual folder where the pic is and then you have an option to send file by bluetooth otherwise you can not do it in sense...which does not make sense
You can do it from the "Pictures & videos" app, which is better than using file explorer, as you can send whilst browsing thumbnails, instead of just filenames.
Alternatively, there's a picture viewer by Resco that allows you to send via bluetooth.

also found a way to use the bluetooth app found in all settings but it is a bit clumsy and requires you to know the name of the file
there is also another way it can be done but not convenient at all...to go through bluetooth settings and find the paitring device and in file transfer pick the file you wish to send...but it is too much hassle that way
Der is an easier way use picture & video the one dats in the multimedia folder

Yeah, I totally agree. I wouldn't be suprised to see a hotfix for this at some point. It's hardly a deal-breaker, so it's the kind of thing HTC tend to fix

How to send multiple files through bluetooth

how the hell do you send multiple files through bluetooth. its not possible to do this. i can only send one file then i have to send the other. i wan to highlight say 3 music tracks and send them using bluetooth. but it dont let me. any help
Go into Settings tab > menu > all settings > bluetooth. Click right hand tab, select BT Send Object. Select Audio, highlight the files you want, press SEND.
And be glad you don't have an iPhone, which can't even send one file over bluetooth.
thanks man

Well I think you could have tried this, it is very obvious.
In file manager, tap & hold the file and select "Send via Bluetooth".
well, you can create a zip archive using any free tool and send them, I'm currently looking for an app that enables sending multiple files, but I only found old ones that support infra red >.>
it's helpful for sending multiple objects that don't appear in the BT send object menu
[edit] Resco File explorer apparently sends multiple files via bluetooth (sending different types of files at the same time as well), but it's a paid app
Use Dropbox
I've found a workaround... I send multiple photos to dropbox then cut/paste them from dropbox to whatever folder I want. That way I don't use up the allotted space with dropbox. Works for me!

Send files over bluetooth!!!

Hey guys i want a program that can send ANY file on my DESIRE. i know that we can send music images and video but let's say i have an .apk on my sdcard i cannot send it using neither astro nor estrongs file managers and i couldn't find a way. is there any file manager that can send any file over bluetooth?????
Have you tried the "blue tooth file transfer" app? It's in the market.
-e
work without application.
Juste lunch server FTP in blutooth parametre @desire.
I've had problems with this as well.
I've tried it without any extra app, just the btooth on the phone and it won't work. I have the FTP Server checked to be on and after I've paired with a mate's phone, I try to send a file and it complains that the OBS protocol or whatever is not enabled on the receiver's phone.
I have had luck using the app from the market, "Bluetooth File Transfer" (green/orange icon) but again, I often get the same OBS or OBT protocol error.
very annoying - I just want to grab a file and btooth it to a friend's phone. It really shouldn't be so difficult.

I do have EXACTLY the same problem! I tried it today with 4 different phones (motorola, 2 siemens and nokia)! If someone wants to send me a file via bluetooth it works like a charm but when i tried to send something to another phone it doesn't work.
Is this some kind of a software bug in Desire's ROM or what the hell is going on here?
Beside of this the phone is freakin fast compared to my old Polaris
i dont know what you guys are doing but the bluetooth works fine. just sent a photo from desire to my girlfriend`s old samsung. works like a treat. just have ftp enabled in the advanced settings

Explorer by Speedy Software
Hi,
I've just tried it with 'Explorer app' by Speedy Software which is in app market. It works flawlessly. Sent a 'apk' app to my Nokia E71 just to test and it works.
Same here, when I try to send a file via bluetooth it just fails...

This is exactly the point, the OBS protocoll IS ENABLED on every phone i tried with!
Pardon my ignorance, but I thought that Bluetooth file transfer was not possible in non-rooted phones... isn't that so?
No, why would it only be possible on rooted phones. BT file transfer is a feature that most dumbphones have (recent anyway).
I've seen mentioned somewhere else in a long discussion that obex file transfer wasn't supported on current android versions but could be implemented in the future... coming from WinMo I was a bit surprised at this but I suppose it isn't so then...
still, I haven't been able to send files over Bluetooth, but I have indeed managed to receive them
don`t know, but i can send to and receive from other phones any my notebook without any special apps and complications. i can even play audio though bt to the laptop without any stuttering.
I just made some different tests with my desire and found a solution (at least for sending photos and videos)
After a clean Boot and the first time to use Bluetooth open HTC photo viewer. While flipping through the pictures you have at the bottom some buttons, one is for sending data via bluetooth. With THIS button i can send photos or videos to other phones.
But when i start for example Astro manager and want to send data with this program it just cracks up and nothing will be send! After this has happened the whole "bluetooth thing" on the Desire does not react anymore
If you want to turn bluetooth off the only solution is to restart the phone and turn off bluetooth afterwards!
To avoid this fault you should not try to send data through other programs except the HTC photo viewer!
Receiving data is never a problem!
Hopefully there will be a patch or so in the near future because this is totally ****! I do not want to only have the possibility to send photos and video

That is exactly what just happened on my phone too. I can also add that sometimes sending files from the gallery right after boot doesn't work with one of my computers however this kind of behaviour is common to other devices too...
[EDIT] I've also tried with the application bluetooth file transfer without success
guys you lost me on this one....i don't have problem sending the default items: movies videos images music........i have problems when i send ALL the other file types....apk, html for example and any file except media ones!!!
I've a problem sending any file type including images from anywhere but the gallery. so you can send images from astro or other file managers ?
[Edit ] you know what? I've tried that again and I actually can send 'normal' files from anywhere... trying to send any other file type doesn't show the option and trying to use bt file transfer resets the phone !
so I'm back at your issue
Quick update:
-Installed 'Explorer' from the Market and now I can send any file type. Thanks kepz
-Obex file transfer actually works ok now, I can browse the sdcard from my computer
-after installing "Bluetooth file transfer" and playing with stuff (BT Remote control apps as well) sometimes when trying some BT services the phone reboots. If I stay clean of those services no problems
-I still can't use the phone as a remote control for the desktop
Same here with BT File Transfer App.
I have 2 Desires, very very often (nearly every time) the phone reboots when trying to send or receive a file. It worked once, but never again, after the 6th reboot in a row i unistalled the app.
The integrated BT thing in ESExplorer works sometimes (not very often)
edit: i have absolutely no problem with sending files from my computer to desire, this works 99,9%! only phone to phone = insta reboot
