RealVGA - XPERIA X1 General

Works RealVGA on the X1? If I connect to a server with screen resolution of 640x480 I don't get the complete screen (only a quarter of this) in VNC or RemoteDesktop. But in landscape mode (800x480) I should get the full screen!
Karsten

I don't understand your question. I'm running RealVNC on my mobile and I can view in 800x480 my PC perfectly (only problem is my PC is at a very high res, which requires a bit of scrolling back and forth).

I have a screen res of 800x600 on my pc. If I connect with RealVNC and go from the left to the right it require a lot of scrolling, but the horizontal resolution of pc and X1 is the same and I shouldn't need a horizontal scrolling.
Karsten

I haven't tried it with any RDP apps, but realvga has worked for me on the xperia, though 96dpi setting didn't work, only 128dpi

I have installed
RealVGA_11.CAB
ResPack96dpi.ARM.CAB
ResPack128dpi.ARM.CAB
LangPackGER.ARM.CAB
After installation I can switch to 96dpi and 128dpi and I get in RealVNC the full screen of my PC with 128dpi and this is the good thing.
When I run RealVGA and switch to 96dpi I get the following error message: "Missing 96 DPI resourses:
ipsecvpnres.96.dll
Some programs may not work correctly"
The same error message with 128dpi
"Missing 128 DPI resourses:
ipsecvpnres.128.dll
Some programs may not work correctly"
If I proceed a lot of programs and links don't work.
Karsten

I have found the dlls in another thread and I can switch to 96 dpi or 128 dpi without error message.
After reset I get the message "PanelManager.exe not found...." if I want switch the panels and other links and apps don't work.
If I uninstall LangPackGER.ARM.CAB the apps and links works fin but I get an error while switching to 96 dpi
"Missing 96 DPI resourses:
msimde.96.dll
TraRes0407.96.dll
Some programs may not work correctly"
Karsten

Now I have only installed
RealVGA_11.CAB
ResPack96dpi.ARM.CAB
ResPack128dpi.ARM.CAB
without the language pack and put the files
TraRes0407.96.dll
TraRes0407.128.dll
msimde.96.dll
msimde.128.dll
from the language pack into \Windows directory and all works fine. Some problems with the panals, because the the backround pitures are to small.

Orientation Aware Theme Making

Hi all.
I was looking through http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44560 My Today Screen. and a topic that quickly interested me was lost in the middle of it. I figured I would open up a new thread and get the information out there about it.
Orientation aware Themes. Basically you can use two different wallpapers. One for portrait mode and one for landscape mode. I want to give the credit to Jacob-MDA as his was the first post I found in this thread about it.
You need 3 files. 2 Others are optional
REQUIRED
*.tsk file //Your Task file, it will have all the color information in it.
tdywater_240_320.gif //Today Screen wallpaper for PORTRAIT Mode
tdywater_320_240.gif //Today Screen wallpaper for LANDSCAPE Mode
OPTIONAL
stwater_240_320.gif //Start Menu Background for PORTRAIT Mode
stwater_320_240.gif //Start Menu Background for LANDSCAPE Mode
The numbers in the filename indicate the size of the GIF image by pixels, in width*height. so tdywater_240_320.gif is 240 Pixels wide and 320 pixels high.
TO USE.
The image files contain NO color information for the theme. You will still have to use or make your own theme to get the colors that you want. Load the theme and select it under the settings/today panel.
Once you have your theme selected. Drop your *water_###_###.gif files into the \Windows directory. When prompted overwrite the files that are already there. They were created by the theme when it is selected.
Examples
tdywater_240_320.GIF and stwater_240_320.GIF

Again, Please note that the title bars and other colors specified in the theme are not altered by these changes.
good info
I've made such themes, but my top menubar always turns out either grayscale or plain black. None of the theme-maker programs out seem to work very well for WM5 unfortunately; at this time they are more geared toward WM 2003.
TBCompDesign: great info. If it's not already there, could I ask you to stick this on the Wiki?
Grazie tanto!

RealVGA-Losing SPB PocketPlus icons from 96 dpi to any other

Hey, as the topic states, I am losing my PocketPlus tab icons when i switch from 96 dpi to any other. Normally I always run at 96 dpi, but some of my programs require 192 dpi to function....now when i switch resolutions my icons change to generic white windows with stars in them, if i go to change the icons back, i get no choice of icons at all. then i switch back to 96 dpi, and I can change the icons to whatever I want...is there any way to get the icons to stick when i change resolutions? Its strange because its only the "tab" icons that change, the program icons all stay no matter what resolution i run.
Heres a shot of my today screen so you can see the 4 white icons with stars that are my problem

Are you running Version 4.02 or later? Did you install SPB when you were in Native 192 mode or 96 dpi? I installed in 192 dpi and 192 and 96 dpi seem to work fine. Not 128
I am running wm6.1, but i believe it also work with pk3 wm6.
Im running version 4.0.2....I did install at 96 dpi as thats what I use most of the time.....maybe I will have to try uninstalling and then reinstalling under 192 dpi
Ok, i uninstalled pocket plus, reinstalled at native dpi....it works now! tab icons stay the same when changing dpi, unlike before. My next task is figuring out how to change the tab icons for spb pocket plus. In another thread there are like 4 Iphone Icon sets for pocket plus...In each zip file there are various png files which contain multiple icons in a set. I put the .png file under pocketplus/icons however none of my custom ones are showing up when I go to change the icons.....any tips on getting them to show up? Thanks!

Old Internet Explorer in WM 6.5?

Hi everyone,
Is there anyway to install the OLD version of Internet Explorer (the one that came with WM 6) in the new 6.5? I am actually hoping for a side-by-side install.
Before you all think I am crazy… here is the deal.
I am a software developer and have a number of highly functional web applications (for entering orders, invoices, etc - see screen shots) that integrate with a number of popular ERP systems.
However, some of them are breaking in the new IE6. I cannot afford to not be able to demo these apps.
Best regards,
The Fish

Here is a cab file IE6. Credit goes to vin255764. I found this on one of the threads over at PPCGEEKS.
Does anyone know how i can install this and the newer version that came with 6.5 together? I tried installing this cab and it removed IE6 and replaced it with 5.
The reason i want both is that for most of the sites I look at I absolutely HATE having no "fit to one column" feature so i can only scroll vertically.
Thanks
In case anyone was interested, the above CAB file only sets one registry key to "0" (to switch to IE5 mode) or "1" to switch to the new IE6 (as in WM6.5).
The key is:
HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer
"MSHTML" = 0 or 1
Just kill the Iexplore.exe task and rerun it to run in the new mode!
You could even create two mort scripts that each have its own shortcut, and depending on which shortcut you launch, will have mortscript change this reg key and then launch IE in that mode.
P.S. A BIG thank you goes out to microsoft for adding this backwards-emulation to the new IE6 - great work!
Thread moved to General.

[Updated] backgroundCreator

I've made an application that will replace the theme's background with a background of your choice.
The advantages of using my program:
- unlike on your device itself, you can zoom in and out of pictures and get just the part YOU want on your devices today screen.
- you get a seperate part of the picture for both portrait and landscape mode, not the same one like windows does (either cropped or tiled).
It's an application specifically designed for the XPERIA but it can be used with other devices with the same resolution (or if I make small modifications which consist in users being able to select the preferred resolution).
You can load a picture, modify it to your wishes and then either save it directly onto your device or make a backup which you can use for later on your desktop computer.
Update: You can now change the fontcolor of your todayscreen and start menu, as well as changing your devices base color.
For example the color for your menu's and background colors for standard windows applications like messaging, etc...
If there are things you dislike or would like to see changed; functionality you would like me to add, please tell me.
Note:
- All 3 files are needed to run the application.

I have no experience with manilla, I don't even know what it is ^_^!
If manilla uses the files windows provides to use as a background, it will (like stwater_800_480), otherwise it won't.
wow, glad to see a nifty little program like this. can't wait to try it out, thanks for the development!
I've added some features which now makes it a basic theme editing program as well.
Also I have bad news..
my x1 fell in my cup of soup a few days ago T_T so I turned it in for repairs. I got lucky after like 20 times I could flash my old ROM and SPL back so they can't complain about that..
Will it change the background only of the Today Screen?
No changes in the screen of the Sony Ericsson Panel?
(I'd like a program to change the Sony Ericsson Panel Background, doing it manually is a little tedious)
will this creator also run with windows mobile 6.5?
great thanks for development!!

Flash Pimp Clock

Loved the original idea from here:

}
Its basicly a different visual clock, to read the hours see the left vertical columns and for the minutes see the right 5-rows columns.
The PDF on the site above explains it better...
To use:
---------
- 5 colors to choose from, just press the bottom bar to change colors.
- If you prefer a 12-hour clock, simply click the left numbers after 13h.
- Exit with enter (keypad) or by pressing the top-right area.
- See the "normal" digital clock and date by pressing anywhere else on the screen.
Notes:
-------
- Needs FLASH 7, if it doesnt exit properly, you dont have it.
- Attached the CAB, already with the WM6.5 icon on install.
- Also added a separated swf file, to see it run on your NOKIA, PC or Throttle Launcher..
Enjoy.
Nice idea
Love it! thanks!
it would be cool if it can be a screensaver.
thanks twolf!
WQVGA issue omnia
just wondering if there's a way to make the excess screen on my omnia to default BLACK- then your app would be awesome
maybe even add function buttons - there's some promising update potential
awesome clock - would it be possible to simulate the look of a recessed L.E.D.?
looks good on my armband at the CLUB!!!
Great...very cool with the color options!
Sorry, the software I use for the EXE only allows VGA/QVGA, he doesnt even allow any extra options for the size or screen color.
Use flash pimp clock
I need a macromediaflash for use it. someone can help me?
found it
Yes, yes my first app for the htc diamond.
it`s fantastic........... I`m cry
Standalone app?
Just wondering... what is the program you are using for these standalone apps? I could probably use the same thing to make my own FlashGadgets play as standalones, which would make them work across a broader series of device platforms. Please check out my thread, and tell me what you think. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630985
