Personnal facebook

Hi all,
in the sense directory, we can link our contacts with there facebook account. This is great, so we can access to there album and all there information directely. Unfortunately, I have found the same think for our personnal facebook account, our personnal card is linked with the facebook account, so we can post on the wall, bet no access to our album and facebook information!
Is that right? Did I missed something?

No if you go to contacts then all people you will see a contact called Me scroll to the bottom and then link to your facebook profile. You can then update your profile by hitting facebook tab at the bottom of Me contact page.

That's right that there is a Facebook button, but the only thing I can do is to post on my wall. I do not have profile info, neither access to my own album....

have you tried updating the facebook app on the phone? if you go into the marketplace and download the facebook app from microsoft (its usually in featured apps) it will update the one on the phone and this might help

Is that a new version, or the same as what comes installed on the phone?

he means the intergrated one.. I can't see my own albums also.. quite anoiing.. all settings in facebook are open.. I can see only one album from one friend and it's just his uploaded profile picture.. never did anything to it.. it displays as two folders uploads and profile pictures.. so apparently it can work.. but why not for my own account? also never seen an event or update in the intergrated facebook.

It's on the SD card, in the "Manual" folder. I'll be fair though, that's practically the first thing I deleted xD I never read manuals... I think it's a guy thing or something to not read em'

Oh! Would of been handy to know that was there, as the first thing I did before even starting the phone was install my new 16Gb card!! My 2Gb never even made it out the box! lol

So you guys can view your own albums with the method above?
If I do that, I get a "The user has no albums to display".

Despite being surprised that I didnt know that this option existed...it doesnt work...actually...while I am typing this, maybe it is because I changed my Facebook password recently!....
EDIT: Yep, my password needed updating. No wonder the status never ever updated!
EDIT2: The photos within the Facebook albums wont even load up...may be I need to be on WIFI.

Thats what I want... thanks a lot.
But it is realy bad that from the address book, we can access all friend's album eccept mine.....

I too have only just discovered this, and I think it's great!
It works fine for me, so I can confirm that it does work. No special settings in facebook, and nothing special on the phone. Just the usual login info.

I can do it over any connection type.

Multiple Contacts DISASTER.

I linked my facebook up on my phone and even after DELETING the program it still links all my contacts.
So now, I have 500 people when i go to select a contact to text and when I type in a friends name 3 entries pop up.
Ive tried looking up stuff on google and even tried everything to unsync it and its completely unsinked and it still wont help.
HOW DO I GET RID OF THREE OF THE SAME CONTACT POPPING UP ON MY TEXTS?
Please help its making my phone unuseable i really loved this phone until this issue

Best to start fresh. Deselect the contact sources you don't want to sync. Go to settings/applications/manage applications. Hit the running tab. Scroll to find "contacts storage" app. Select it. Select delete data. This will erase all your contact data. You can then resync the contacts you want.
Swyped on my rooted MyTouch4G

ended up using a friends recommendation of contact remover/removal from the market nice free program

Here the fix it happen to me to:
Go to-Contacts-Views and choose only with phone number. I disable the facebook for my touch under options. You can disable the other choices you have there too. Hope this work for you!

For People Having Problem With Facebook Contacts Pictures Sync etc [SOLUTION]

This worked for me; let’s hope it works for you...
Problem:
After a lot of messing around, my contacts appear to be synched with Facebook and are showing Facebook profile pictures and so forth. However, when I receive a text message from one of these contacts, their picture does not show next to the text message.
NOTE: This solution may fix other problems you are having with Facebook sync, what you have just read was my particular problem, so give it a go, might just work for your problem too.
Solution...
1. Go to Settings -> Accounts and Sync
2. Look under 'Manage Accounts' for any Facebook related accounts. If you see any, click on them, then click on 'Remove Account'. (Do this for all of them if there is more than one.)
3. Go back to the main 'Accounts and Sync' section where you have just been and click on 'Add account'.
4. Under INTEGRATED CONTACT ACCOUNTS (NOT more accounts) click on Facebook.
5. Enter your Facebook username and password as normal and click done.
6. Go back to the main 'Accounts and Sync' menu again, look for the new Facebook account you have just added on there and click on it.
7. Press the menu key on your phone, then click on sync now and wait till any spinning arrow logos you see stop spinning.
8. Go into your contacts and see if any have now linked with Facebook correctly (this will now be working for some people but for the majority it will not be... YET.... if not, continue with step 9.)
9. Click and hold on any of your contacts in your address book.
10. Click on join contact
11. If you see your contact with their Facebook pic next to them, click on them and they will now be successfully joined!.... If you don’t see them, you have two choices...
A) Re-edit their name in your contacts to match exactly how they have their name on Facebook. So if your friend is called 'John Doe' on Facebook but you have him as J Doe or something in your contacts, change it to match Facebook!)
OR
B)After step 10, click on 'Get Friends' and scroll until you see the contact you are trying to join, tick the box next to them, click save, then click on their picture which should now be showing under 'Suggested friends'.
Long winded - Yes
Time consuming - Yes
A soultion - Yes.
Let me know how you get on everyone...

I also do this and this works but the next issue I face is if I use a WIPE rom, how can I restore a back up of my contacts that already has the joined information ?

^^ Good question, same problem I have.

Without being some kind of genius with the SGS, I cant see how this can be done easliy to be honest.
Thing is, if your backed up contacts have the EXACT names as your facebook contacts, then when you load them back into your phone after a wipe install and sync (step 7 in guide) it should join them all up automatically for you.
However, if it does not I'm pretty sure it's due to an issue with the Facebook App because before the latest update they always used to join up automatically but not with everyone now.

I am experiencing the same problem, but with Samsung Galaxy Nexus with ICS 4.0.4.
I tried the steps described on this post, but It didn't work.
(My facebook contacts doesn't show at People App at all)
I also tried re-installing and re-adding my facebook account, but It didn't work.
BTW, where is "INTEGRATED CONTACT ACCOUNTS" settings?
Please, Does someone have any clue on how to fix it?

OTA 2.3.4 Update... Contacts

Hey all I'm new here...
Just wanted to point out some woes with the new OTA 2.3.4 update with the contacts. Although it seems the views have a few more options the bad part is they took away the option to flip the screen left or right to see social or history... that sucks but the worst part is... it seems that you can't link with social accounts anymore either!!!
Any insight on this... am I doing something wrong?

Use GO Contacts, it's just plain better.

your probably right... though 2.2.2 was fairly decent.
Just wanted to add... as I'm going through account and contact stuff, the ability to sync facebook or twitter pics with contacts is gone as well I know there are other ways (manually) but this was a nice feature... why would the take it out? What reason do we have now to add any of the social/pic stuff with motoblur? Again, Myspace, facebook, LastFm, twitter, Picasa, Photobucket, flicker, Linkedin... its all broken now, none of them sync with contacts now. (or is it fixed... was there issues with this before, did folks not like it?)
Note: If you long press any of these accounts in settings it states.... "To Fully integrate "account" into your mobile experience, click Add Account." What experience are they refering to? All I can see is that your widgets (which suck) will populate their feeds....

Update... I did find some settings for anyone looking.... if you edit a contact and press menu the option to join pops up.... so maybe its not a total loss also not as I used an app to sync FB pics to existing contacts (synced to google) not sure if you "join" if the pic syncs as well....

If they took out linking contacts period, IMO that would be a HUGE step forward.
My contacts got severely f*cked up because of that, and I'm still trying to fix that mess.
If I hadn't bought so many Apps under my current account, I just would have just created a new Google account already...

If you unlink your accounts, the contacts should go back to the way they were. Linking doesn't actually modify any account info.

Go into your contact, then menu->Options

Altough it is still possible to link the contacts, I prefer the older Contacts.
It was easy to see where did each info came from (small "f" or "t" logo near the contact data).
Will try to get used to the new interface.

Anthony, I agree with you. The option to flip right and left was very useful and I used it all the time to keep track of my communication with a contact. I was hugely disappointed to see that missing. I do not understand why they would remove that. I also liked the contact photo syncing. It was nice that most of my contacts had photos added automatically.

Has anyone else had issues with webtop working after the update? Via HDMI or any of the docks...

nothin there any more
installed go contacts and it had it though so it's a non issue

I like new Contact App.
Just a small bug: birthday date is showed as an INTEGER (many times negative) and not more as a Date.
Example: "Birthday: -609994887"
I'm not sure if the wrong "import" of newer Contact App is about Facebook's birthday date or Google's Account, however something is wrong...

What the... they just took out the most usedlful feature in blur, contact history. Man thats so bad...

Settings > Accounts > Motoblur Accounts/Facebook
Remove the facebook account. Reboot the phone.
Then Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Facebook
Reboot the phone.
Phone App > Display Options > Facebook
Make certain All contacts is checked.
Press Save.

Not working for me, when I click on the facebook icon in accounts under 'other accounts' nothing happens.

Select the one under motoblur accounts not the one under other accounts (which makes me question the wisdom of Moto for having it listed twice on the same page).

I tried that too but I had the same problem as before, no contacts showing up. Why must motorola make things so difficult?
Edit: Read on droid x forums that it can take a couple hours for them to show up, so I'll wait and see.

Be sure to be on a wifi network and ensure you can sync social apps. I would reboot the phone once all of that is checked and then see if it all comes down or not.

3 issues

1- when I make a calendar appointment it defaults to my work Microsoft Exchange calendar as opposed to my gmail calendar.
How do I make my gmail the default calendar?
2- I use swype but lately it seems to be gltiched.
Lets say I have swyped the word hello and then pressed SEND in the chat program (Whats app).
Instead of the suggestion box clearing, it'll show me all possible suggestions for the word hello. Like Heli, Jello, Help and so on.
The problem is the other person i am chatting with sees me as "typing...." and waits for me to finish talking to respond. Whereas I have finished but this gltich is fooling the system. I wanted to clear the cache or something but couldn't (maybe because it is a system app?).
3- I use Dolphin Browser Mini. Most of the time when I long pause on a link (to get the menu to open - open in background - bookmark link - save link), I won't get this pop up menu. Instead I will get the smaller menu (select text - gesture - fullscreen - close tab). Even though I am positive I am long pressing on a link not on a blank space on a webpage.

Well i can only help you on the first point but give you some info in the others:
When you make a calendar appointment in s-planner the first box (above title) is to change where you want it to be synced. Justo choose the one you need.
In swype or other introduction method you have the option to let it give you hints, disable them but you mustn't make an erro in your typing/swyping. I don't use swype so it's just an idea...
I tried dolphin browser and deleted the app just because of it, still using stock browser on my note.
Hope it helped or gave you some ideas

In regards to te calendar, yes I realize that I can change it at the time of creating an entry but it defaults to MS Exchange. I want to change default to gmail as I use that 99% of the time.
I don't want to turn of swype suggestions because they are useful. I need to know how to re-install or clear the data in swype because its not working properly.

Can you go to your phone settings>applications>manage applications and go to the exchange app and select "clear defaults"?

I changed only once???????
Regarding swype, go the definitions of text input and click on the mini widget and define your language and other stuff,clear your dictionary, reboot note.
As of gmail being standard: definitions --- accounts and sync --- open you preferred email account--- defintitions----again choose preferred account--- check the box "preferred mail account" (or similiar, it's the second box). At the end of the page mark sync. agenda and task......
back to homescreen and try it out. Sync your e-mail accounts first..

So, if you are not trying solutions, why ask for help?
clear defaults will do no harm, the system will only ask the next time it calls a function/program for you to choose the action to take, and will let you choose the default again.

The swype thing didnt work.
And I can't follow your steps for the gmail issue. When I go to Accounts & Sync I see all my emails there. There is no "definitions" option nor s there "preferred mail account". I don't see these items.

Because you seemed unsure. It was like "hey try this, it may work, or it may not".
Now it seems clearer after you explained that it will ask me to take an action the next time i run the app. Thanks.
