What do you guys think about this design?
I was messing around for a little bit and came up with this for weatherpanel, should I attempt to make it happen ?

What would you reckon instead ?
I like this look and would love to give this a try. Looking forward to seeing your developments on this skin.
would it be possible to use in as a plugin (Ultimate Launch)?

1) Instead of TMW (which I think means tomorrow's forecast), should be a link to the multi-day forecast that like the WP default
2) A link to detailed daily and extended forecasts e.g."Currently 100% with wind from the SW at 5 mph. 0% chance of precip. Sunset at 6, sunrise at 6.", that type of thing.
If that could be displayed in the window as an option, that would be great.
3) Cam1/Cam2 could be replaced by a link to 'graphics' since WP also does a great job with the regional weather maps in addition to the traffic cameral.
I like the visual. if you could incorporate some of the strengths of WP in the same display concept, I think that would be just great. Challenge will be to minimize the drill down that some themes today have before you get to the meaningful data.
Just my 2 cents....
Thanks
i think you're focusing a little bit too much on the visuals of the image box, personally, i think it is useful for weather images and cams, but not that practical to spend that much space for current weather images (sunny, rainy).
instead, it can be used for current weather details (wind, humidity, percip. percentage, feels like, last updated, etc...).
you can also change the "TMW" to "5D" or something similar
I tried to apply some of my suggestions to one of your screen shots, you can find it attached. i am not best known for my artistic talents as can tell , just general ideas and you can adopt whatever you like or ignore 'em all.
it doesn't seem that you were that serious about looking for comments on your design, it has been about 32 hours since your only comment on the topic... i could've used the 30 minutes i spent replying and making that modified screen on plenty of other things.

Calm down buddy. I've actually started making the theme for WP. I also have a real world job and family to deal with, I'm not some 24 hr XDA lurker. Know that your suggestions were taken on board, however I'm not looking to make the main screen more than the basic info as shown in the initial screenshot. The rest of the precipitation, humidity etc will be on a seperate panel, like in phatphingers.
Would you like a refund on your 30 minutes ?

I think it makes the Universal worth having - I just got a Hermes yesterday, and despite it being a beautiful device with feck small buttons, QVGA is too old school these days.
VGA will make you blind faster then the Victoria Secret's catalogue, but it looks beautiful. With careful tweaking it can be made usable for day to day work, but for remote desktop or PocketWord etc, it's great.

VGA mode is fantastic - I couldn't be without it.
I have it turned on all the time but find it mainly useful for:
Web Browsing and actually being able to see worth a damn
PocketPutty connections
Terminal Services

You think that's weird, you should see my table-arm attachment:
FYI - I'm working on a new app for the phone, to make it much better then VJBigPhone. One day some time, hopefully this year
But seriously, VGA is great technically and it's a real shame to use QVGA afterwards, but it is painfully small sometimes. But with appropriate UI tweaks, it can work very well.

Hi,
I'm thinking. Are there any graphic designers around here who's willing to do up some logo/graphics for xda-developers? This can become a repository for the developers to use as skins/wallpapers for their various apps. Unless I'm mistaken, xda-developers doesn't seem to have a logo... yet
I'd be willing to take a crack at it. Could we start a poll for what colors people would like?
I would try it also times.
And i posted it here.
How do we start a poll? I'm a forum noob..
My favourite is green, yellow/orange and red.
Ever seen a pic of the red eye tree frog?
I made finished times a first Logo.

liked this one.
i believe it should be elegantly small sized and professional looking.
any way to make the 'V' a little more pointy?
One can still stop the size then.
Then is my also not more so large.
one should really decide about size, colors and stuff
someone open a poll??
here is another try
i did a vector redraw of my touch^^

Nothing can be made out.. Can you please attach image without resize?
Regards,

From the screenshots, it's looks very WM7-ish, but they're very small. Please reattach the image a bit larger.
Guys above me read the title its the xperia skin google xperia and youll see it.... this looks almost exactly like it man great work.
The images are that size because that is the panel screen. I am working on finding programs that look more like the ones on the actual phone.
Hey I have an idea, how about someone with alot of flash knowledge creates a better one? For the people who dont have wisbar? (although the beta, which i'm using, is free)
Any suggestions for a good, free, standalone weather program?
Try, Weather Panel
nice work man, looks good.
Hey how bout a release we can play with
This is really nice....I'll definately get this once you release it!!!!!!!!!!!
Great work!
interesting idea.

As I said, this is fine, but someone with flash know-how should build something really nice
The xperial panel seems very reminiscent of Dynamo2 task manager....freeware
Why exactly do you need wisbar?
I'm using wisbar as the blank slate on which i add buttons, since i cant write programs
Also, I use wisbar because im developing a good wm7 theme, which is in another forum post.
Oh I see. That's pretty impressive actually.
I still wish more of the people here would learn how to code. It would make this awesome community even more awesome

I'd be glad to learn if i could find a good tutorial
Tell me what you want to do and I'd be happy to get you started.
Also, you inspired me to try my hand at making an XPERIA panel app, so I started working on it today. I think I'll release the source once I get something cool done.
Also, for anyone that is interested in how a system like this works, you can dissassemble Dynamo2 with a .net reflector. :-D
But seriously I would love to help with any project that I can
currently, I know absolutely nothing about writing programs. I know a bit about web code, but that's it.
What language(s) are you using for your web projects?
I never owned one but I have played with Iphones. They are nice and I love the fact that you can customize app draw name, service provider name, custom sliders, i even seen a Knicks symbol as the signal bar, make ur own icons in the status bar... ( my friend has The Dharma Initiative sybol )lol
I always try to out shine them boys and Im on forums and they post a screen shot and Im blown away. I absolutely love my N1.Overall I thin its better, But do you think we will ever be able to do this with android?
Are you new to Android? Android is 100x much more customizable than the iPhone. Welcome to the forums btw.
ya this is my first android and I heard about how its more customizable, but how can we do the above? I have yet to see a screen shot that has it..
and thank u for the welcoming as I expect ether in this thread...lol
There are two ways to customize.
1 - Download a Home replacement app from the Market (GDE, OpenHome, etc...)
And then download the custom themes and just apply them.
2- (the fun one) root your phone and then just go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=560
and chose a theme you like and just flash it
Being an army veteran anyone would think you'd know these kinda things. Careful with your apple words 'round these parts.
Could you post some screenshots of these so-called customised iPhones? I'm interested.

Lmao apple words??? Im all about android my friend. As for the military part, u make absolutely no sense, almost disrespectful towards our service members. But thats here nor there... http://www.joebuddentv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68683
That's what you call customizable? That's what blew you away? It's the same-old icon grid after icon grid after icon grid like any stock iPhone, only with different icons and background. Do you see widgets? Do you see... oh I don't know, any average SweeterHome theme will let you do better than this tired-looking piece-of-**** UI. The iPhone may have its good points, but customizability is not one of them.
I hear US army training tends to beat intelligence out of people, but I didn't quite realize how badly.
Maybe you can hack your nexus one ..to make it like an iphone..so you can make it look like a nexus one !!

I came from an iPhone I made look like the hero home screen. It took foreeevver.
Android way easier to skin. Did you not even see the entire forum dedicated to themes with the FIRSt thread about posting screenshots?
I followed the steps from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18029320&postcount=2
to get the Galaxy Tab 10.1 weather widget working on my Acer. It's ok, fully functional!
But the Digital Clock widget, which I did the same way, is force closing every time I try to put it in the desktop. What I have to do?
Please, someone can help me to solve this?
Any idea??
Please, help to have that lovely digital clock widget working!

Try Beautiful Widgets. It's the price of a Happy Meal. No compatibility issues on The Acer.
Should get you close to the same thing, with the bonus of a LOT of downloadable skins.

In fact, I've tried it, but in my opinion, it's not as "beautiful" as the Samsung stock one... besides it's apparently slightly bigger than SGT.
Yeah, but. with the use of some good skins, it's similar.
Personally, I use "design my clock", mostly cause it's fun. And, I don't like all the visual effects. Only problem, it won't "tag" your locale.
If I get a chance this weekend, I'll take a look at your clock. See what's up with it.
Remember, some proprietary widgets, don't make good bedmates with other operating systems.
