HTC TOUCH change lowbatt sound - Touch GSM General

Hi to all,
I am trying to replace the file "lowbatt.wma" in the /windows folder, in order to have a different low battery sound, but the system does not permit me, neither to overwrite the file. Is there a way to do this action?
Thanks

Check this
I guess the phone wont allow you to overwrite or replace the default lowbatt alarm...since its on the ROM. If your trying to use a customized sound file....make sure its a wav file. Have you tried to just drop that file under the windows directory and then selecting it from under sounds and alerts? I believe this should work.
Good Luck.

Thank you.
The fact is that I do not find the option to change the sound of alarm low battery in the "alert/sound" menu. Where is it? I found only the one to change sound of incoming calls, incoming messages, ecc ecc.

If your using a stock phone you wouldn't be allowed to make this modification from the sounds and notifications option. What you can do then is to add this entry into the sounds and notifications drop down menu. To do tht:
1. Your going to need a registry editing software.
2. Back up your registry before proceeding ( if you havn't already done so)
3. Before you go into the registry, make sure the wav file tht you want to use as your preferred low battery alarm is placed under the windows directory.
3. Navigate to the location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
4. Create a new string value here and call it Default.
5. Set its value to Low battery warning
6. Now go sounds and notifications and under the notifcations drop down you should see the low battery warning option.
7. Select it and assign your customized wav file to the entry.
And your set! Try it out.
Good luck.

Many Thanks, worked a treat!

this might sound late, but use total commander portable

Custom sounds for Notifications?

Hey guys. I'm trying to use my own mp3s and/or wavs as notifications (ie. text message received). I know how to do this for ringtone (click & hold > set as ringtone) but not for other notification settings.
I have tried placing the files in Windows\Rings and \Windows and soft resetting but none of that worked. They still don't show up in the drop down menu under Sounds & Notifications. The other sounds used for notifications are in \Windows so I'm not sure why this is happening. Any ideas?
You sure can .. just pop them in your Windows directory and they will appear in your drop down of selections to allocate to alarms etc.

Tried this as I stated above...is there some sort of naming requirement for this to work? Because I did this and even tried soft resetting...with no luck.
You can always try to name them like default tones, like alarm1.wav etc. But are your custom sounds playing ok in mediaplayer? If not they won't be played as notification & probably not listed as well in the listbox.
On my magician (2K3) I can indeed drop them in \windows & select them without soft-reset, hope you get it working too.

Is there a way to change the keyboard sound to something less annoying??

The title says everything!! i was thinking the scratch sound the old moto V80 made, or maybe something else. If anyone knows how to change it please let me know!!
Thanks
I just turn the sound off, but I do remember reading somewhere about adding new sounds. I'll look around.
re
currently i have it off too but i would like to customize it!! anyone else have any thoughts??
My Herald came with a HTC app. preinstalled that enabled me to turn it off or specify another sound. It's in the registry somewhere if the app isn't installed btw.
Where can I put new sounds for the keyboard? I can only choose betwen 3 sounds. (I have the application installed)

think u have to put em in the windows folder, and they have to be *.wav
havnt tested myself but should work
Look for a key in the registry called "SlidingSound". It has 3 keys, "0", "1", and "2", each corresponding to the 3 sound options. Copy the .wav files you want into the windows directory. Choose any one of the 3 keys and change the "in" and "out" string values to the sounds you want. I tried this and it worked. I think I'll make my slide out sound like a cash register until it becomes more annoying than humorous.

At the screen where you set the alarm, poke the 'bell' icon on the right, it will give you a few more options, which you can get to choose your tone.
thanks i never found the drop down menu..I looked all over..!
now is it possible to add additional sounds if needed/wanted. theres only a few alarm choices and they're all not very loud to wake up to. a song would be nice maybe. any suggestions?
im curious too. can't seem to find out how to change them on my htc touch.
but of course you can add additional files, just choose the file you want and save it inside the "windows" folder, use file explorer or total commander, then check the file in the program/settings/clock & alarms settings, click the "bell" icon enjoy

Diamond Ringtones & Notification

Found the Sounds from Diamond on this thread. Post nr 4!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395400
Nice, thanks!
Sweet! I was looking for a simple download of sounds only. Thanks for the heads up!
Where should I put the audio files? In \Windows or \Windows\Rings directory? I noticed that all files in \Windows\Rings are duplicated in \Windows. Can I delete them in one of 2 locations to save space?
place the files where you like to.
ring-files in windows\rings can be deleted.
ringfiles in windows\ must be replaced with zero bit files to "delete" them.
But if I delete the files from both locations then I will not be able to use them. What I'm asking is in which folder I should put the files so that I can select them as ringtones
I put the tones i want as ringtone in My Device->Windows->Rings
Is it possible to adjust the volume of Diamond's ringtones from my TC?
Thanks!

Yes, I know... But even if the volume control is set to zero or 1 (or 2,3...), volume of Diamond's Ringtone is/will be the same (very high).
Probably is the .wma format???
Hmm.. yes you are right about that! Have someone a solution for that?? why its behave like this

I don't know what i can do...
Ringtones go automatically to \My Documents\Rings folder
Something in the registry?
Sorry, i have this problem: i can't adjust ringtone's volume of an incoming call.
Volume of other notifying sounds (sms, appointments etc.) and music work properly.
Even if i set 0,1,2... or max volume level, it's the same (very high).
I've installed 2 third party softwares: pTravelAlarm and mccMobilFinder (that increase the volume even if it is set to zero); i've uninstalled them, but the situation is the same.
Probably some issue in the registry? Wich are the registry keys involved?
Can you help me please?
Thank you!
I noticed the same problem with volume, cant say why it is so. Its very stange..

My ringtones are seriously messed up (Possibly a registry problem)

I was setting things in the registry yesterday (On my Cingular-branded 8125, aka the Wizard/HTC P4300), and my BT stopped working. And it wouldn't connect via IR, USB, or anything else, either. So I cleared the storage and installed everything back, and put everything back where it was. Then, I app unlocked it and changed five other registry keys (To make it keep CABs after installing, remove the SMS sent notification, change my ringtone directory from \windows\ to \Windows\Rings\ [which worked before], to change my camera sound to \windows\Canon EF Shutter Sound.wav, and to reassign the Contacts softkey to PocketCM). Now, it shows two copies of all of the default ringtones in Start > Settings > Sounds & Alerts and Start > Settings > Phone. Also, when I go to File Explorer and go to \Windows\Rings\ to set an .mp3 file as my ringtone, it says that it was copied to \Windows\Rings\ and set as my ringtone. But when my phone actually rings, it plays the wrong file. So what registry keys or files do I need to move/copy/edit/delete/create to fix this? The police siren it set itself to is starting to get annoying...
*Pasted from this thread over at Brighthand.
ok, this may be a dumb question, but did you go in under settings, and set it to the ringtone that you want?
Yup. I set it in Sounds & Alerts and under Phone in the Start > Settings menu. Then I also tried setting HKCU>ControlPanel>Sounds>RingTone0>SavedSound to "\Windows\Rings\[name of my ringtone, ends in .mp3]" Without the quotes and a real file in place of the statement enclosed in brackets. I also set the same value to "">Sound. And it still plays a random ringtone from \Windows\. If I use File Explorer to set my ringtone from \Windows\Rings\, it sets the same value for the same file, but for some strange reason it plays an entirely different .mp3 (also in \Windows\Rings\) when it actually rings. So what the crap is up with my ringtones?!? It's weird.
It's fixed! I had to delete HKCU>Control Panel>Sounds>Sound, restart, delete every ringtone that appeared in Start > Settings > Phone, change the ringtone directory in the registry, then restart. Now it shows all of the sound files in the root of my card. I'll have to remember this for the next time my ringtones mess up.
registry problem
Here I have a good recommend for you: Tuneup360 and Norton system work, but the latter one is a little bit difficult. For the beginners, Tuneup360 is a good choice.
