I have lots of .RMVB files, was thinking how to play it on the blackstone without actually converting it. Which i think is what the blackstone is all about, playing video at its orginal format, saving time on conversion.

Now here's a quick solution:
use RealPlayer
http://www.real.com/realmobile/download.html?thanks=true&device=Pocket%20PC%20Devices
then rename your .rmvb files to .rm and they'll play ( or blow up your phone, whichever comes first , just kidding... )

Try this. I use it to reduce the file size by reducing the resolution for my videos. The website says it will convert MOV files.

Not sure if TCPMP will play it, but you could always convert the quicktime file into another format.
I use http://www.zamzar.com to convert files to mp4 or 3gp that will play on my phone.
anybody know if there`s a program to convert avi video file to a file that plays on topaz? i want to watch movies on my phone tried videora but cant seem to get it to work. a nice easy one would be great, a beginners one maybe?.... if there is such a thing!!!

thanks for that but same thing happened as with videora, it says "the file may be copied for storage or transport use only. it is not supported for use on the device". i converted it to mp4. think it might be to do with the video file itself i`m converting, its off a torrent. also when playing it through windows media player on my computer it says: "the selected file has an extension (.mp4) that is not recognised by windows media player, do you want to try anyway" an when playing the file the sound is there but no picture. do you need codecs for mobiles??? because when 1st playing the original file on my computer before converting it for my phone, same thing happened and i had to download codecs to watch it.
anyway thanks for your reply

Videora (TD2 Version) works perfectly for me...
Can you play back the original file on your PC?
And the converted one?
TCMP
Tcmp is your solution !
If you do a little search of this forum you may find a version of tcmp supporting the srt files.
With tcmp, you don't need to convert your avi files. It run pretty well in full screen with 700 mb divx files on my topaz.
use pocketdivxenc
Hi everyone,
I use this http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/EN_index.htm on my topaz and it's incredible....try it.
I use Beta version 0.4.5 and the templates tool, and i saw on my topaz Terminator Salvation, District 9 & Start Trek without problem on CorePlayer .
I hope it works for u
sorry for my english !!!

thanks for this, will the files play on windows media player on my phone when i`v used this or do i need a different player?
Usually Divx/Xvid..files for PC have an exagerated bitrate for PPC use, that is why it is wise to convert them.
Here's my technique:
1) convert original divx/xvid file with HTC Touch HD Video Converter, available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
2) Copy resulting .mp4 file to SD
3) Play with HTC Album
Note: Coreplayer can play this file aswell, but I think that htc album playback is smoother.
Unfortunately HTC Touch HD Video Converter doesn't rip dvd, can anyone suggest some all-in-one application to easily make divx?
At first sorry for my crapy englisch,
I have al little question, and wundering if you can help me out.
Is it possible to get a movie from a dvd to play on my tp2.
I understand that i have to rip the dvd to my computer.
Thats the easy part.
But than, i have to make the size of the movie smaller, so it wil fit to the sd cart and it still has to be converted to a size that the tp2 will understand.
Is the a cab. file for my tp2 that will allowed my tp2 to realy plays a movie.
And wich software i can download to convert a ript off dvd to tp2 size playing.
I already tryed some converter programs, but the will not make the movie work on the tp2
I have a 4gb sd-cart so the zise off the movie will fit the sd cart.
I hope you untherstand the question and can help me out
Greetings Camiel

Maybe this will work for you!? i havent tried it but it looks pretty good.
Heres another convertor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492261
I personally use AVS video convertor -http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx?sct=inc&ct=google&cid=67 it is a paid app but very good and simple to use, but i'm sure there must be free versions of a similar program available.
also i convert to MP4 and play using either Coreplayer-http://coreplayer.com/, TCMP-http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/or the built in HTC Album video player. others use different formats for higher compression(to fit more on the sd card)..... Definately think about trying out/buying CorePlayer as it is a great media player.
These are easy to find, use the search box at the top right and you can find a lot of information for our devices. have fun!!
Welcome to the forum
Video converters
I personally would look for a program called Format Factory. Search for it on google. It can convert any video, audio ,pictures etc into any format you want and best of all, it's free.
My favorite converter is dvd::rip (http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip/). I've converted movies to 480x256 that play beautifully with CorePlayer.

Does this convert movie files into that size/resolution or just DVDs?
I use a program called DVD Catalyst. It cost me like $20 but I can rip into any format and screen size I want. I use the free TCPMP to play all my movies on my TP2.

did::rip will only covert DVDs (after ripping them), but I think installing it will also give you command-line tools to be able to convert other formats as well. I haven't looked for a GUI for that yet.
I dvdfab to rip the DVD to my hard drive and AutoGK to convery to Xvid format. Both are really easy to use. I use the basic free DviX player to play them. Not a very nice player but it's free.
The best one... is FREE!!!
Being Dutch, you probably would like to have your subtitles included, something US and UK people does not take into account when looking for a media coder.
Here is the best, multilingual, I set profiles for my wife's Nokia and for my superb Tilt2 (and my old Fuze as well).
It comes with the codecs and the tutorials and all you need to rip any movies/DVD into your phone.

ENJOY!
Looking for a favour ASAP please guys (i.e, before I go to work :-D). I want to be able to transfer .avi files onto my phone and play them, and after searching around, installing stuff (such as Coreplayer & TCPMP), I've decided that they don't support .avi's, OR I've just downloaded the wrong .cab for my HD2.
Can anyone provide me with a link to a good-.avi-playing media player for my HD2 pretty please?
If it matters I'm just using the bog-standard 1.43 ROM at the moment.
Thanks for your help guys.
core supports avi...actually it supports mkv and ogm as well
there is a limit of size
if the file is above the normal 855x485 limitation that will cause problems and you will only hear sound and no video. But core supports those file types
heck I love watching my noir ogm. Try to go to options and ensure you have chain's graphic driver and 100% smooth...it'll make a difference
So why do I get 'Unknown file type' errors when trying to play .avi files? Both TCPMP and Core
Any answers quickly please?? Hate to be pushy, but I've got just under an hour.
Just two quick suggestions:
1) Do the files work on your PC?
2) Your phone is unplugged from your PC when you try to play?
3) Have you tried loading the .avis from within the app rather than just clicking on them in File Explorer?
Thanks for your help buddy.
Yes, to all 3 questions mate. Is there a codec pack or something for the HD2? As a very select few play OK, yet most don't, but they are all .avi, makes me wonder if it's a codec problem.
Did u try this version of tcpmp?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951&highlight=tcpmp
Yeah just tried that one, same problem mate. Weird, huh?
That's weird. I can play .avi files with that version of TCPMP.
Copied straight over, or do you convert them first?
I copied straight to my storage card. What's the resolution of the video? Try playing different .avi video, i.e different size, different resolution , and see if it works?
As per the title....
What SW do you use to convert video you have recorded on your HD2 ?
Try this one: DVDFab All-In-One
Code:
http://www.dvdfab.com/all-in-one.htm

And again, I fall for that old thanks-next-to-quote chestnut, so thanks for that
@OP Why do you want to convert them? What do you want to convert them to?

What it is.....
I love MediaCoder and sworn by it for years, until i tried to convert one's i've recorded on my HD2 in MPEG4 640x480
Always get encoding errors!
Want to convert them to .avi's to stream to my TV thru DLNA
Have you tried just getting a recent codec pack for your PC? I'm surprised it's having problems converting them.
http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
Also, if you've got the correct codecs on your PC you shouldn't have to convert the files - the DLNA server does it on the fly.
If that doesn't work, google turned up loads of converters for me. This is the first in the list and it looks quite nice...
http://www.leawo.com/video/mpeg-avi-converter.html
Yeh, as i say, i've used MC for years and yes, always have the K-L Mega CP on all my systems
DLNA does transcode on the fly but i always get 'file unsupported' on my Panasonic TV with these ones recorded on my HD2, hence the reason for wanting to re-encode them. Also want to distribute them to other people at my club in an easily playable format for them
Very frustrating i can tell ya :-s
I can throw practically anything at MC and no problems, only with these recordings from my HD2, can't understand why though.....
Hmmmm
Maybe some SW is causing the problem here.....
Can you play the files on your PC when you copy them off the HD2 - just in a regular player?
