New PIE - Mogul, XV6800 General

I saw that nue made a new ROM and included the new Pocket Internet Explorer that supports AJAX and Flash. Is there a CAB for this available? If not, could I make one with the kitchen he put in the donator section? Thanks

I don't think there is or will be a cab available for this, because PIE is part of the system, to some extent.
However, The new PIE is available in his nueROM Unified Kitchen.
I personally think it's a little laggy, but then again, this is a pocket device with a small amount of memory.

I'd like all the new features in the browser but don't want to flash an entirely new rom to my device...

Yes there is a cab for pie 6.1, i got it from ppcgeeks before i switched over to no2chems 6.1 rom. I'd link the page but the sites down. Im sure its here if you search for it

I installed this cab on the latest dcd rom. Now IE now longer saves favorites or history....

Yes, please upload it again.
Hey there, seems i didn't catch this one fast enough. I've been searching ppcgeeks but they don't allow searches with ANY terms under 3 symbols (6.1) thus making it impossible to find what I'm looking for.
If you could reupload that or find it here i'd appreciate it. All i've found on xda is an italien version...

I used the cab file install version on my Mogul with good results after trying to copy over original files without success. Very pleased with added browser features.

WM6.1 Manila2d Blueangel ROM

Requesting all those great Rom cookers out here to create a Rom with Manila2d in it. No, not on ExtROM but inside the ROM itself. That would be faster better and faster I think.

Integrated Manila 2D into cooked ROM is surely a better solution, however most people prefer a clean ROM. Beside due to limitation of the flash size (32MB i think), it would requires to remove lots of even basic application come with the ROM.
not possible due to limited 32 mb storage. even the mms is not included in any ba wm6 rom so can u think for Manila.

M2D cooked in
I'v tryed to fit "M2D" in a cooked ROM you can get the main files in there' But not enough of the image files, I also did some test builds "without" the calc, media player, dialer, and commManager skins, And Flashed them from "ExtROM" as Themes It Seamed to Work fine But you would still Be adding A large number of files Via ExtROM so not much to be gained (can't say It was any different speed wise)
My origonal Idear was Adding skins to your device like this may, make rom's more fun and the user could change Skins From *.cab files (Themes)
So If you fancy a try and some people are intrested in making some Skins then I'll cook My New V3 and working version of M2D into a "ROM" With all Skins Removed and Post it with One Full Set of Skins in CAB files and folders of files for you to edit and i'll even pack some of your Themes into CABs and we'll see what Comes of it
I would like at least 5 people to be intrested in assisting with skins as I don't Have enough time to do it all
So If you would like to have a GO then you need to say SO or i'll not bother that's my offer regards
swampy395
I think it is a great idea, manila2 in a cab with no skin, and the default skin in a separate .cab so we can replace and tinker with it at leisure
I am in to give a hand!
Ok people think about it just for a minute, Manila 2D has a size of 12 mb, with a rom of 32 mb even if it is compressed we have to cut a lot of things from main rom to make this possible, and the the stupid questions will come, why this or that not work. Thats why i am working on a proper kitchen so the people can choose whatever packages they want in rom and make it themself. So if the rom does not boot or has audio video formats problems or software compatiblity problems this will be the builder configuration fault not mine or any other rom cooker.
Also you can use my last kitchen but you need to add options.xml in OEM and SYS folder to choose the packages

Well this is good as idea(i mean the complete customization from cabs and saving space from the skins in the rom area) but you have to make manila not to load on startup because without skin it will just crash and you will have to reset, and there will be infinite loop ...

I would love to give this a try, but I don't know enough about the interdependencies of the root packages to build a reliable options.XML file. Could you post a list of the diff packages that are part of the ROM with a notation of which are required, which are nice to have and which can be left out? If you do, then I will try to build an Options.xml file and post it for testing with your kitchen.
I have modded manila2d so the default skin is no more and instead one more of my liking. The resulting cab is 100KB smaller...
It boots fine

As my previous post I did some tests and I could get enought of the M2D files in the ROM for IT to boot! and from "rom boot" to "ExtROM Finnish" it doe's not try to load M2D, first load of M2D is after the reset that Terminates ExtROM loading BUT I had to remove 'Calculator,Dialer,WM_Player skins, ring tones and some shortcut, The rom I tested for about 4 days and was as stable as any rom!, And here's a BIG "BUT" Keeping track of all the bits that are needed is a some TASK! in short it will work but it's hard work

I can live without all of the things that you removed as I use alternates for all of them which are loaded into storage anyway and just waste the ROM space.
BUT, as you say, I don't have enough knowledge to know which parts can and can't be dumped from the core ROM. That's why I asked Xplode to make a list. If you can make some kind of list, I'm willing to try and build a suitable options file to be used with his kitchen.
Another thing. I may be slow, but I can't figure out what parts of M2D are in the ROM and what parts are being installed via CAB. I opened the M2D cab and I see that the executables are still in there. If they are in the CAB, what are you loading in the ROM?

Hello again
I didn't publish that ROM, It was a test 'only' My M2D roms have most of the today plugins removed from rom as you don't need them, you can only have M2D plugin running!! If you remove WMP you loose so many formats 3gp etc. There are many things you can install from cab But cannot leave out thay have to go back in, The end finnished rom plus cabs is just the same size so y bother
P.S. If your useing a swampy rom then you can flash new skins from a cab
Swampy, if you cook my modded M2D you will have some 100Kb more to play with in the first place...
Now, if you zip up your ´Removed´ folder after cooking a barebones rom with M2D in rom we can help you build .cabs that would go in ExtROM an hence we would have a much more modular design
Taskmanager is a good candidate to go on a .cab, some people like one some like another. It pains me to see two installed
Swampy, but there is an alternative to Windows media player,
Mplayer, a 4megs cab. Supports many formats, it is lean and a standard in Linux (available for Windows Mobile)
Download MPlayer for Windows Mobile
You could remove everything to do with windows media player and put them on a .cab, then give users a choice; windows media.cab or mplayer.cab

Sorry, but I'm still not following you. In the first post of your 20275 thread and in your sig, you have a M2D version. If this isn't the M2d in ROM version, then what is it? If all that you did was leave out the today plugins, what did you use the extra ROM space for? Also, I never use WMP as almost any other player is far better IMHO (Coreplayer, S2P, Tcpmp,Mortplayer, Etc.) If I don't use it, will I still need its support for diff file types?
Swampy´s M2D roms don´t contain M2D in the rom itself but will install it in rom from the storage card whenever you do a hard reset.
So it is basically loading the extra stuff from a custom ExtROM folder in the storage card
Of course I agree it would be better to have M2D in rom proper and say windows media player in a .cab in the ExtROM folder so it can be easily removed if you don´t want it (I certainly don´t want it)

I agree with gloomyboy. Since there are SO MANY differnt app/utilities that more or less do the same thing, it stands to reason that everybody will have their own preferences. If someone could build a kitchen that really allows you to pick and choose what goes into the ROM, everybody could custom tailor their ROM for what they really use. Unfortunately, AFAIK, all of the kitchens available today only allow periferal change and not major systems changes. I don't know why, maybe it is just my lack of understanding of the core requirements of a ROM and it can't be done any other way. But I can allways wish....

OK, now I get it. I do that myself with my own home grown EXTROM based more or less on Xplode's new release of M2D with all sorts of shortcuts and config files being copied from my SD card into memory. I am constantly changing my cfg.txt file to include newer versions and getting rid of apps and utilities that I find that I don't use. I think that the ROM should contain all the permanent stuff that will fit and I can't function without.

Build OS????

My friend has the Mogul and on PPCgeeks.com he installed buildos which is a totally customizable rom that allows you to choose what you want on it upon installation. I and many others I'm sure would love to have something similar. Any info on this would be great!!!!
Future thanks!!!!!!1
that's what runs inside of the simple wm6.1 kitchen I posted. All you need to do is change OS files (SYS Folder and XIP) from my old clean developer edition to newer and more stable ones made by -MyHTC-, Erofich, etc.
I also recommend learning about UC (User Customization) 2.0. Search for it on xda. Really useful for on-the-fly type customization, but the ROM image needs to be compatible.
Still trying to find some time to develop my WPF kitchen...thinking about multi-device support...

So forgive me for my ignorance, but if I'm already running on My-HTC rom will your kitchen work. And I did notice the kitchen before, but I took a look at it and felt I was getting in a little over my head. So I'm gonna do some homework myself based on ur feedback, but thanks again and we all look forward to seeing more of your work

Yes, you can. I still didnt found a way to use it on opera or IE, but its working flawlessly on all my apps.
OK, first incompatibility:
I installed WM6.5 on my BA and FEwidgetslite bombs out. Works fine with the OPAL version of 3.1.
Not sure how fewidgets work, but if its similar to throttlehtml it should be as simple as editing the html file it reads to have this code.

Sorry but I didn'tt understand what I have to change the name to and where it should go. Also, why 550X400, the BA is standard QVGA 320X240?
No, I exported that html code from Flash CS4, its the standart code to read flash lite 3 (not sure youll need all that, maybe just the OBJECT area).
You'll "just" need to change all that has the name TESTE.swf to (not sure whats the name you need) FEwidget.swf(?) with the fewidget size 240x295(?) instead of the 550x400 that my html had.
what do i need to do to make this work with opera? do i need to setup anything else other than installing the .cab file?

Hi all
According to the Adobe website this distributable packages is in fact a stand alone player, not a web browser plugin. Can anybody confirm this? I can't get it to work with Opera the way the previous versions did.
Cheers
andrew-in-woking
This is the standalone player only, the official wordings state it all (see below). I got it from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/distributableplayer/
Flash Lite 3.1 Distributable Player.
Flash Lite 3.1 includes the same features as Flash Lite 3.0, such as support for Flash Player compatible video, with some additional enhancements including improved security model for SWF file access. The solution delivers a standalone player for applications, without affecting the Flash Lite browser plug-in or pre-installed standalone player, if present.
The player posted in this thread does not work when you tap the .exe located in \Storage Card\program files\Adobe\FlashLite. You have to use a program to associate .swf with the .exe, then it will open, however from what I've tried so far..everything has been very slow..
I'm disappointed because there is no zoom feature, or quality toggle..there are less options than the previous flash lites.

[IDEA] Multidevice kitchen

I've been thinking lately... I've been thinking of creating a new multidevice kitchen. The kitchen would support every current device, be based on the newest version of Bepe's kitchen or maybe the visual kitchen. It would add certain things like:
Automatically insert the cecompr.dll needed for both LZX and XPR compressions
Automatically hex edit the imgfs.bin during the cooking process to allow to LZX compression
It would come with an empty payload file for every device
It would support multiple languages and come with language packs
It would use the standard layout of bepe's kitchen/the visual kitchen so it would be easy to also keep build packages that would apply to every kitchen.
If I could get enough cooks involved from other devices, we could even have base STRIPED OEMs from every device that people can easily download.
We can make it automatically be able to dump any ROM and easily extract its XIP or SYS and import them into the kitchen or make the files into a package compatible with the kitchen that people could upload for everyone else to use. (Easier to spread new builds leaked by other people.)
I need more ideas as to what we could make this kitchen do.
I also need to know if any cooks would be willing to help out as it would be a MASSIVE project.
I would start it as soon as I'm done with two ROMs that I'm currently working for and a few kitchen that I'm modding for some people for LZX/XPR multicompression.
No comments, yet.
I'm working with ervius to add the LZX compression to the kitchen itself.
If no one helps, then it's going to be a little hard to do since I will have to download the default ROM for each and every device and then strip down the OEM. Then create bigROM packages to release as well. And then I can't test it since I don't have every device, so it's going to be a little bit of a slow process.
What I will end up doing will be more like just taking ervius kitchen, add a few things here and there and make all the packages and builds and whatnot available. Or at the least create a thread where people can post packages left and right. A repository of sorts. (A lot like the PPCgeeks's BuildOS but compatible with every device and using ervius awesome kitchen.)
Sounds like what Anchilus had one time! I think it was named as hypercore. But great idea though. I am not an expert cook or programmer, but I do cook ROM for myself sometime. My biggest thing is porting the ROM, doesnt matter what tutorial I read, I just dont get it LOL

Would be a great idea one kitchen for all devices, although I think the extra devices should be added in the form of plug-in, because nobody likes to dl a 20 GB kitchen . I would help but I'm not that great at dumping but especially not with the still changing structure of ervius visual bepe's kitchen. Is there a wiki or tutorial somewhere that properly explains where to put which folders? 12
Yes, it wouldn't include all the devices at once. The aim of the project is to provide plugin packages for every device. A standard repository of oem packages (divided by QVGA, VGA, WVGA, etc), a standard repository of SYS and XIP builds, and a standard set of stripped down OEMs from different devices. Everything would be downloaded seperately. It's a huge project, that's why I would need lots of help.
EDIT: Just read that link. Kind of like that, but for multiple devices. Including language packs and all.

You can use my kitchen (based on visual kitchen) to add more devices but someone should develop a kind of frontend app to have ability to download only desired build, device OEMs, VGA/QVGA etc (manual selection will be a nightmare for normal users) . That's a great idea. An app that automatically downloads the needed files just for your device type of thing... I'm not a programmer, though.
I want this to also have language packs that modify the language of the ROM.
Let this be the kitchen to rule all kitchens.

Already answered there.
But,
Yes.
The cecompr.dll is what tells the XIP how to read the LZX compressed imgfs.bin. The hex editing is what tells the kitchen tools to write the imgfs.bin in LZX compression.
I worked with evirus and now his kitchen has an option for LZX compression. It will do everything automatically. ^_^
That's a great idea. Not sure it could work on my device (ks20) as bepe's kitchen crashes on my nk.exe so I have to build xip part the old way (using xipport). Anyways, if you need french 96dpi resources, I can give you mine.
And for this project, instead of a special software to download packages, why not using a svn repository ?
Although a SVN repository would be awesome, I wonder if there would be a legal problem just like there was with the XDA FTP server used to host ROMs and stuff for building ROMs?
Yes, that's possible... perhaps we should ask a moderator, what was the exact reason it was removed (because after all, everything is still present on this forum, it's just not grouped in 1 place, but I think legal issues remain).
I also know that somewhere on the web, there is a svn server for winmo builds (I had once a wm build that had .svn folders).
Ivan, You can use my site to host your files, repositories, and current roms. I can alot you as much space as needed and even a .info domain name if you like. It will be hosted on the the same host as mycw.info (My gf's site for our chickens and stuff.) PM me or just respond on this post.
