You have the HTC Elfin and there is no official WM 6.1 update available for your device and probably wont ever be one. On the HTC Website it shows the WM 6.1 update but probably says not available for your device when you try to install it. This is because the linked it to Elf by accident and fixed the problem in order to avoid people downloading to elf or elfin and bricking their devices. The WM 6.1 official ROM update is for the HTC touch Vogue. You can search this site; however, for custom cooked ROM's for the Elfin that has WM 6.1. Make sure you do plenty of reading and studying on how to flash a custom cooked ROM to your device and you will have to make sure that your device is unlocked. I am sorry I cannot help you more than this since I don't know much about flashing custom ROM's since I myself have not done it yet to my Elfin. There is lots of information available on this site though and several ROM's available for the Elfin.

but i have also tried flashing these cooked ROM it always stops at 3% and shows 270 error and stops the viva was launched 10 days after i bought the phone pls help because i am bored by this windows 6 i want i new ROM help

Do you have the HTC OPAL otherwise known as the VIVA
You said "Stops the viva"? If you have the VIVA and not the Elfin stop flashing roms for Elfin to your device.
OPAL / VIVA look similar to Vogue and Elf and Elfin but is a different device

I think he means he 's frustrated the viva was launched after he bought his elfin. There should be a dot after "stops" . Beside that your advice was very sound

Why are you giving this warning? I haven't upgraded to a custom ROM myself yet; however, have read that there are many members who are very happy with their custom ROM's and WM 6.1
Do you have a valid reason for this warning or is it just your personal choice / preference.
From what I have been reading, choosing to upgrade ROM is personal choice and one that you choose to do at your own risk and or benefits all depending on what your needs are. The reason I have not upgraded is that I have not yet felt that I needed to. I am very happy with my stock WM 6.0 ROM and the performance of my device. This is the only reason I havn't upgraded.
What are your reasons? It is not my intention to discredit you or attack you. I am legitimately curious as to what your reasons for this statement are.

1) What are the main differences between windows 6.1 and 6.5!?
2) What the differences between original and cooked ROM!?
The reason I am asking this is that I was not able to do the SIM unlock at all even after trying most ways mentioned all over the forums in different threads and my HTC Touch Dual original ROM is the one that is exist in the HTC website 6.1 ... so does it really deserve the hassle to have a cooked ROM or to have windows 6.5!? or it does not really matter!?

Hi MGadAllah,
The difference between 6.1 or 6.5 is the speed, I think that is the main difference, the difference between an original rom or a cooked rom is that the original rom always has the standard programs and on a cooked rom you can add your own programs or delete a lot of stuff (that's what I prefer) so you have more memory and thats related to the speed.

Have you read the stickies in the Dev section (Where this currently is?) There are stickies telling you exactly what you need to do for an upgrade. However, due to your other thread, you will need to get that fixed before you can do anything.
I do not advise you flashing a rom with your current issues. It may be worth this merging with your other thread to be honest.

I have a Touch Cruise P3650. I have upgrade from W6.0 to W6.1 downloading the zip from the Windows mobile website. I have seen that my phone can be updated to W6.5. Can anyone show me how to do this in clear and short way because I'm not so familiar with terms and abbreviations used in forum. I'm a junior member of the forum.

Download ur preferred rom in this forum..... the best roms for touch cruise will be Megan rom, Pcarvalho, 3LITE and kostas244.... download any of tat roms and upgrade ur touch cruise...
before upgrading anything in ur w6.5... pls do hard-spl before u upgrade.... hard-spl is needed in order for u to upgrade to 6.5..... hard-spl is also available in this same touch cruise forum...

pcarvalho eXtreme is the ROM of my choice and it still has support as he has just released an update for it, but again, it would be best for you to just see what features every ROM has and choose the most suitable one
Hi All,
I am trying to find the windows 6.5 ROM from HTC for India, which was available on their website but now I am unable to find the same.
I am planning to flash my Nand with CM7 Android and if something goes wrong I would be using this ROM as a failsafe.
Please let me know if someone has this ROM or a link where I could download it from.
