I run an exchange server and I am welcoming pocketpc users that are in need of an exchange account to activesync with. This service also offers Direct Push for those of you that have have this on your PocketPC. As well as the ability to sync all of your contacts, calander events, and task wirelessly onto your Outlook desktop instantly.
NOTICE: Lots of users have been asking if they can have an alias setup so that it looks like they are sending from thier personal email address (ie gmail, hotmail, yahoo ect..) and the answers is YES! With each account you can have an alias setup so that your recipents see your email address as anything you like! In order to keep this service alive, it is asked that you donate $10.00 USD in order to use this Email Alias service. You can use paypal and send the money to [email protected]
Anyone that still needs a Exchange account, I can provide one for them. I will be providing up to 75 or so accounts for free, donations will be and are always appreciated. My constraint right now is how much hard drive space I have. If I can get enough donations for a bigger hard drive I would be able to give out many many more accounts. It is Exchange 2003. Easiest way to install the certificate is put it on your phone, then tap it. It will run and install itself. Once you do that, just enter your info into Active Sync, easy peezie! The outlook access by itself can be tricky which is why I gave you the link to that tutorial showing you how to set it up. Hope this helps.

Ok, Im now up and running on both my Tytn and Outlook 2003.
So far everything seems to be working just as it should and my initial impression is that its quicker than mail2web. The original sync of contacts and calendar etc seemed to take aout half the time.
All looking really good, what do I do about the email alias thing? Another pm request to Denial?
I will run for another day or so and update, hopefully will be running a new version of WM6 later today )

Sounds good. Glad to hear that you like it. As far as the e-mail alias thing, when you send your donation just include a note saying what your alias'd e-mail should be and I will set it up and send you an email back letting you know when it's finished. Take care!

They can choose to trust me or not. I am not in this to screw with people. Just like the majority of this forum, I am just trying to offer a service. You can ask any of the people I offer this service to, I am not trying to screw anyone over.

After much hassle, I'm finally up and running, haha. I trust him. I let him remote desktop connect to my computer to setup outlook and he didnt do anything fishy. He's legit and the service seems to work flawlessly once setup. Much recommended to anyone needing good push email/exchange. WOOHOO i finally got the same set up configured on one of my home servers!! windows 2003 + exchange server 2003 and i'm golden also got aliases working so now my phone is sending emails as though i'm emailing from gmail, and also synching my work email simultaneously (set up a redirect).
denial, to prevent you getting bogged down i'd be willing to take on a few push accounts too - also SSL based, free push mail

second, im still trying to figure out how to get true directpush gmail on the HD, ive been using wm for 4 years now....but since ive gotten the HD is when the push gmail is really starting to bother me, i mean yes, i can use owa to get my gmail, but its either manual sync, or interval sync. which is not true push mail. ive been able to use my hotmail account for push mail, obviously MS designed it this way that you can use it.
but still cannot find a way through owa or standalone wm to get push gmail
other thoughts here are;
-hotmail is capable of this obviously their parent company created the technology
-blackberry is capable of this because they have their BES server
-third party apps blow, so its not a true solution, i would perfer to have my emails between sender and me, rather than being filtered through by some third party app/company
if anyone has any kind of input or say, please feel free...

I had the same problem but "solved" it with HD Tweak. Ok solved is the false word for it but it works now.
So what I did is:
1. Start HD Tweak of course
2. Go to point 6.1 (Disconnect After)
3. I set it to 1 Minute or 2 Minutes
4. Save this with OK
After that my gmail works perfect when it always have to connect for a new time to the internet! If you are connected to the internet it won´t work! Crazy but ok what should I do
First I didn´t wanted to use this "disconnect after" option to get my gmail workin. I only wanted to safe battery energy but than I saw that with this disconnecting after 1Minute (on my HD) my gmail is working and syncing all mails correctly to my Touch HD.
Please tell me if it also works on your HD!

Sorry wrong answer on your question.....I thougt you have a problem syncing with gmail^^
But your question would be also interesting to me if there is a possibility to have pushmail with gmail.
Im also really interested. I have mine set to sync every hour which is ok but as mentioned, not pushmail at all. In fact it is barbarically pullmail.
I hope this will solve the problem.

yes im sure everyone knows how to get push hotmail, but thats not the problem, we are looking to get push GMAIL. but thanks for that great tutorial! and the battery isnt a problem. mine still has a good charge with hotmail being pushed, when the phone is in standby it doesnt use that much juice, even when data connection is on, its in a less consuming state

well i mean i have gmail set up as imap on my hd but its still pullmail, i set it to manually sync, right now i have all my gmail forwarded to my hotmail, i get pushmail from that so, if i do get an email from my gmail account ill know and i can just hit sync on gmail, and reply if i need to, if i dont need to reply its just to read it then. but its not a solution just a temporary fix? waiting on google to release a gmail sync!

im a bit hesitant about trying out the program, doesnt sound worth it, i could be wrong. but googled it a bit and found this

the article is a bit dated, but still. skimmed through it and i think it says all funambol basically sends you a sms? and tells you that you have new mail which means manually having to hit "send/receive" i may be wrong, i didnt read the entirety of the article
but in my opinion still not a true solution, im so eager for google to release a gmail sync, dont let me down google....! waiting for you to release a break through tech for wm users!!

No I waiited for some time and see that it does work but takes 5-10 min to get the mail.You dont have to mnaually do the send/receive.

I downloaded version for htc/other device and installed cab on mobile. After creating an account for gmail, it automaticly created account in outlook. Mails seems to be pushed into my mobile maybe 1 minute after they arrive to gmails inbox, so it sounds like a fair solution. Pls someone check that because it seems too good to be true. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to be a real push mail solution for gmail and wm. And its free.

I just tested Emoze, and I'm REALLY impressed!
The setup is fast, and easy!
In the settings menu, I get my own language, despite the software being downloaded in English!
Receipt of testmail on my HD after 4 minutes.
Receipt of reply on my Lotus Notes after 30 seconds(!!!).
This is it! I'm not looking any longer
Another alternative is Seven. I've been using it for over a year now and prefer it to emoze. It's still in beta but works great.
well does seven emoze and funambol all enable you to reply with the gmail account name? and its all a separate application correct?
in a way my temporary fix is working for me, pain in the ass but working.....i just prefer not to have a 3rd party program "filter" through my emails, private or not.....
but has anyone received any word on whether googles releasing a gmail sync?

Seven integrates with outlook and runs in the background to deliver emails. When you want to read/reply you use outlook. Any replies sent are from the email address you set up.

Okay, my first thoughts on the Hero.
Good

Hardware is lovely. The unit feels just right in the hand, and graphite colour is great.
Screen is very sharp and has excellent colour.
Sense UI is a huge improvement over stock Android is virtually every way.
HTC E-Mail client is great compared to standard cupcake version.
Browser is very fast, and text wrapping is very effective.
Phone is now unlocked and running on Vodafone (thanks to the folks at unlock-now.com). It detects this, and offers to update all my settings accordingly. Nice.

HTC Smart Dialer doesn't correctly display contacts that only have a company name in them. The numbers show up but with 'unknown' next to them. They display properly in the 'People' application, so it's definitely a HTC bug (I seem to remember the same problem with early versions of this dialer on WM).
GMail client won't let me set a 'reply-to' field. I use GMail for all my e-mail, but use a forwarding service (pobox.com) so want to set my reply to field accordingly. I can get the functionality by using the HTC e-mail client, but then I lose HTML mail capability.
GMail and HTC Mail don't integrate in the mail widget. You can only see accounts configured using HTC Mail.
Flash in browser is very hit and miss. Some simply stuff works, but not much.
Standard calendar application is rubbish. The iPhone is way better here. I guess I'll be looking for a third party alternative.
I'll post more as I discover it.

Sorry, don't know about this as I don't use Windows or Outlook.
From what I understand, you can sync with Outlook, but you need to use the HTC Sync software. The only problem is that HTC haven't yet made the Hero version available for download. If you go to their support site, they don't have a section for the Hero yet. I'm guessing this will change once the phone is officially released SIM free.

The main problem is that you can't get a month view, and be able to move across days to see what they actually contain. On my E71, you see the month calendar on the left, and a small pane on the right which changes to show the events for each day. On the iPhone, you get something similar, but see the details at the bottom of the screen. On the Hero, you get a full screen month display, but have to click on individual days to see the detail. Not a big thing for some, but it's a change to what I like.
You can go to what they call 'Agenda' view which gives you a long list of all upcoming appointments, but you can't get a week view. There is a day view, however.
There is a calendar widget, and it does show today and tomorrow details, but it's very small.

I just bougth an HTC Hero with orange and I will like to use the phone with movistart => I need to free the phone. Is it the same as unlock the phone? Is a good method unlock using emai? Did you do it at "http://hero.unlock-now.com/sim-unlock-HTC-Hero/"?

That's exactly were I got it unlocked. They were incredibly fast. I had my unlock code within about 10 minutes of ordering.
Simply insert your foreign SIM, it will prompt you for the unlock code. Enter the code from unlock-now.com, and it all works.

Not sure on the battery life at the moment, as I've not had it long enough to tell.
Sadly, you can't rotate it so the trackball is on the left. It's only a software thing, though, so HTC might implement it in future.

yes the sync software for the orange phone is on the micro sd card provided you plug it in go to mass storage mode and then run the .exe I have syncned all my contacts and calendar , unfortunatly you cannot sync any other outlook items this way currently

you set up the reply to address on the Gmail website.
It's in Settings > accounts, and it sends as whatever you have the default email address set to in the 'send mail as' section.

No, you can not be signed in to two Gmail accounts at once. you can set up a second Gmail account in the mail application to access your mail from the second account, but i don't know any way to access calendars from a second account unless you can share calendars between accounts. maybe that will work?

Thanks, I think that will do. I can sign in with one of the Gmail accounts and set the other one in the mail application. Regarding the calendars I just noticed that all my google calendars are only in one of the accounts. So I will sign in on the phone with that one and use the other only in the mail application.
The only problem will be moving all my contacts from one account to the other...

Just got mine as well,
I noticed that there was considerable amount of lag for the first hour of using it, but now all the lag is gone and its working amazingly well.
HTC have taken a lot of the ideas from this site and implemented it in the sense ui, Customising the phone is fun and really easy, the only thing I'm unhappy with is being unable to get my Hotmail, and I don't really want it forwarded to my gmail.

Correct me if wrong, but you can always create a new dummy gmail account, forward your mail to that, and set in the gmail website that your 'identity mail address' (from address AND reply-to) is your hotmail address.
that way other people will not notice you use gmail to retrieve it (unless they look in the headers). Thing is you can't manage your hotmail account that way (delete / move / mark as read your mail)

Funnily I got hotmail working through the standard email app, it doesn't push the email but you can set the frequency at which it syncs, so it's good enough.
Also while using the hero i'v noticed that some times the phone doesn't respond after unlocking and it takes a couple of seconds to respond to your touch.

HI guys, I am using the google exchange server to sync my contacts to my HD2 via active sync. For some reason, when syncing my contacts to the HD2, if a contact has more than 1 telephone number it only syncs 1 number onto the hd2. So basically all my contacts with multiple numbers only have 1 number on the Hd2.
Has anyone else experienced this issue before or is there a workaround to this?

google can only store calendar.
google sync supports calender, contacts, and email. i am totally confused as to why this is happening. am i the only one with this issue?

Funny enough I have just been doing some testing with this but on email sync.
I guess you will have to report it to Google as another possible glitch they have to sort out. Google sync is a beta product at the moment, so some way to go to get it finalised.
My gripe is that it won't sync any other email folders but the Inbox.

Google sync has been syncing calendar and contacts on windows mobile since it first came out, I used it to sync my contacts and calendar on my dash, I switched to android contacts and calendar entries were synced flawlessly.

I would advise you to read google documentation before making incorrect comments on this forum.
The best documentation you could read is http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299 which clearly states CONTACTS AND CALENDER.
I also hear specsavers optitions are offering free eye tests at the moment. Maybe this could be of use to you??

Yes, you should learn to read documentation properly.
I've found Google sync to be quite lacking..
Try using www.nuevasync.com instead, it works much better!

Could you clarify your statement please? When you say it works fine do ALL your email folders on your device get synced up or only the Inbox?
If all your mail folders, e.g. Sent, etc, are getting synced on your device can you share with us exactly how you are achieving this please?

This looks interesting. Do you want to share your experience of using this service please? Do ALL email folders get synced with the device or only the Inbox?
I also went on to read their T&C's; didn't quite like the sound of this statement under their dislaimer; "......NuevaSync does not warrant that (i) the Service will meet your specific requirements, (ii) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free"...,
It's the SECURE bit, or lack of guarantee about the service being secure, that's raised my eyebrows a little.
Look forward to your comments.

I love nuevasync so far! I've been using it for about a year now. But I only sync calendar and contacts with Google, I do not sync mail unfortunately. If you want to sync mail, you have to pay a tiny fee but it's very reasonable.
You should try going through their FAQ here: http://wiki.nuevasync.com/wiki/bin/view/Public/faq

Just got my brand new desire hd this morning... looks fabulous.
Before anyone starts screaming that this question has already been asked, I would like to mention that I consulted "search" and didn't find any results.
That being said, is it possible to install push mail on the desire hd without going via gmail (thus, directly from my provider) ? And, if possible, what do I need and how do I proceed ?
I have a second question. I installed swype. I go to "lesson", I get a welcoming screen with the usual blabla and it ends with "push on next" (or something like that, my phone is in Dutch). There is however no "next" button on the screen. I can swype (during the lesson), but I can't get any further. Any suggestion (besides suicide) ???

This question is in wrong section. Anyways, push mail is always there using Exchange accounts (non-gmail)....and on a seperate note where did you purchase the DHD from ?

It works, but not in the default mail client. Download "improved email" and it works great!

It was push email and ms exchange i'm looking for more info, not POP/IMAP.

I've managed to set up my hotmail account to push mail to my phone, but i cant get to make changes on the server from my DHD. so when i read, delete or move mail on my device, its not happening on my web inbox. i've got the option ticked in the settings, before anyone asks! anyone know how i can resolve this?
