Hi,
I've just one question which I think has not been answered yet. Do you know the transfert rates of the Touch HD linked to the PC (USB) when you write data on the SD Card?
Thanks in advance,
Regards, Julien.
Well can tell you it seams a lot quicker than the Kaiser, but don't know what specific transfer rates are will test copying a large file and see if I can give you an estimate though.
Using ActiveSync:
Copy to device: 0.75 MB/sec
Copy from device: 2 MB/sec
Using disk drive mode:
Copy to device: 3.75 MB/sec
Copy from device: 6 MB/sec
All test done with a 203MB video file.
thanks for your replies
Philio25, thanks for your test!!

are you sure you are copying to DEVICE? i believe you are copying to CARD, if you are using the supplied 8GB card, it is only class 2.
if you are indeed copying to device, well i can tell you the USB2 (mini or extUSB) is not the limiting factor, it is the system bus.

Hi All, I am having an issue with putting more than 630MB of data on my newly bought 2 GB miniSD card and was hoping someone could help....
Firstly, some background info....
1. I'm on a Win XP Pro, DELL Inspiron 6400 notebook.
Im also running McAfee Security Centre with AntiVirus, Personal Firewall etc
2. When I expore via ActiveSync, the only information displayed about the miniSD is a folder under the root directory called "Memory Card"
3. I downloaded both WM5torage + Card Export 2 to resolve this problem - when I use WM5torage, only 1 removable disk comes up in File Explorer (only drive E)
BUT when I use Card Export II, I get 3 removable disks showing up in File Explorer (drives E,F,G).
E: contains all the files I copied to the miniSD and is showing up as 2 GB capacity (using "file explorer" properties)
F: contains some folders including camera, FMimages etc folders + is showing up as 16 MB capacity
G: contains nothing and is showing up as 65 KB capacity
If I use either of these programs the most I can get onto the miniSD is 624.5 MB.
Using either of these utils, I get a "file or directory cannot be created" error whenever I try to copy an additional file across.
BUT when I try and copy any new file using the "Explore" button via ActiveSync, it says "cannot copy - cannot find specified file".
Sheesh!
Another thing I just tried doing was running a checkdsk on the miniSD (using the XP disk tools you find after hitting the properties option on a certain disk).
I checked off the "Auto fix file system errors" option + the "scan for & attempt recovery of bad sectors" and ran the checkdsk.
This ran for about 20-30mins, it came up with NO errors and just said checkdsk is now finished.
Any suggestions guys?
Have u tried a reader ...
OK, I don't have a 2GM mini SD to try, but what I do is stick the mini SD into a SD adapter then stick it into a standard SD reader and plug it into the PC USB port.
I transfer all data in and out of the mini SD this way as I find it much faster than through Active sync or worse, WM5torage which is only USB 1.0 speed.
Try and see if you can transfer it this way, I believe u can as the "check" u ran shows no problems. After u transfer, stick the miniSD into the Atom and try to access the files ... I'd be interested in the results as I am thinking of getting a 2GB miniSD myself. I currently own a 1GB miniSD
I have tried this actually and my PC doesn't recognise/work with the minisd card with adapter.
I go to device mgr and there is a yellow question exclamation mark - when I look into properties it states
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
So going to try another reader just for a minisd (without the adapter) and also going to try another Atom to try and narrow down whether its the card or the Atom.
Great news - got it working!!!
Before proceeding with anything, I decided to update the Atom ROM from the "test_not_for_sale" one
to the latest offical one from o2 that was released a 1-2 weeks ago (20060426B1WWE).
After the system came back up I tried transferring more data using Activesync/Expore and bang! It worked.
I just filled the entire card up - all 2GB worth without a single glich.
I also installed Card Export 2 and tried copying the same amount across but that gave me the same error as before and would not go over the 630 MB.
Hope this helps anyone else out there having probs with their 2 GB card.
Congrats! But what were you waiting for before upgrading to the new official ROM  "could have saved yourself this anguish
as the saying goes "if aint broke why fix it?"
The ROM was working great and had enabled me to start using wifi so wasn't planning on upgrading unless I needed to - turns out that I needed to!
i have just flashed to Duttys Topaz WM6.5 Sense 2.1 Holy Grail R0. At first the file transfer was fine but now 24 hrs later i can no longer transfer files. the speed becomes terribly slow windows say a 14mb file will take 5 hours to complete.
I can access the files on the storage card fine. i can even delete old files and copy files from the sd card, just cant put new files on the sd card.
please help
Try another USB port.
yeah i have tried that but it makes no difference. even disk transfer mode makes no difference.
Hey guys, I'm new here so I hope i am asking this in the correct forum.
I have an att Expo with stock Rom, win 6.5 and I am trying to download a large file for the internet.
The file is about 76mb. I have about 30mb free on the phone and I have a 2 gb memory card the is empty.
When I try downloading it directly to the memory card it gets about half way through (Im guessing about 30 mb into it) and then gives me a error message about running out of memory. ''You are criticaly low on Memory'' or something.
My question is, To download this file do I need 76 mb of space on the handset so that it can then be transfered to the memory card after download? if so then Is there a way to download directly to the memory card without using device storage?
Thanks guys, you rock!
I am pretty sure that you are running out of ram when you download the file; I could be wrong though? also why dont you just connect your expo to your pc and get the file that way?
I actually needed the file while I was at work and I did not have a computer handy. But I was able to get the file using Pocket Downloader freeware. It downloads it directly to the sd card regardless of ram size.

Thanks for the reply.
All you guys still rock.
Hey Everyone,
I recently discovered the wonderful program 'Directory Bind' which basically lets you redirect a directory from /sdcard to somewhere else.
(i.e. you external memory card!) This is fantastic since some games (Like Bard's Tale) consume a gig of /sdcard space and apps2sd doesn't work.
I also discovered that 'sd tools', whch allows you to test read/write to a directory allows specifying any directory, so can select a directory in /sdcard and test the internal memory speeds.
I noticed, for my Lexar Class 10 card (LSDMI32GBSBNAR), I got 10 MB/s write, and 20 MB/s read.
For my Note 1, the internal memory has only 5.4 MB/s write, but 47 MB/s read (!!!!)
I am now very curious how the memory speeds of the Note 2 are, and also what the speed of the SD interface of the Note 2 is.
But it's nice to get confirmation that games/whatever should load considerably faster if you keep them on internal memory.

Does this app works properly on the note 2?

It's an xda app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
Some notes:
1) First: Go into settings -> default data path and change it to: /mnt/extSdCard/
It is currently the old ICS directory of /sdcard/external_sdcard
2) Simple Instructions:
First, find a big directory with your data.
Run DiskUage, select 'Storage Card'. Note the directory pattern, i.e. Android/data/com.ea.deadspace_na
Menu -> add new entry
Menu -> data transfer assistant
Find the directory you used above.
Hit 'Add'.
Hit the disk to activate the mount. It should turn green.
Now rerun DiskUsage.
A) You should see a new 'disk' which corresponds to the directory you just moved.
B) Check 'Storage Card'. You probably need to 'Rescan'. You should have more memory now.
Now try playing the game or whatever you just moved.

You would not believe it but finding your post here has saved me hours of anguish! The one flaw I found in the Note II was the crazy storage problem. Now resolved. Thank you so much!
By the way, I highly recommend, before doing a nandroid/CM backup, to turn off the binds.
Since the data is already on your external card, there's not much point in backing it up again.
Not to mention: if you do a restore you might exceed your internal memory.
- Frank
Thanks for the information !
Hello there
Is there any application besides Directory Bind that does the same operations in a more user-friendly way?
Thanks a lot

Need not actually, this app is doing the bind only after boot complete, mount -o bind,rw target newpath. In cwm you will not see this bind because it doesn't exists in the recovery fstab...

This app is the most user friendly. Unless you load your own shell script from init.d...
Thanks!
Does this app got anything to do with the functionality of Directory Bind => Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ ?
I've seen it presented by many users on YouTube and it looks really cool and useful for high capacity microSDs

I've not seen any of those vids, but yes you can practically bind any directory from any fs mount that your kernel supports ie exfat/ntfs. But remember though only fat is supported in recoveries ie cwm/twrp2. Meaning if you choose exfat, you will not see your extsdcard in recovery mode...
Can someone help me i tried to create the blind directory but when the app say that create it I put create and it stay in that screen
nvm
DirectoryBind crashes regularly on Note II
Basically, it works. Crashes from time to time, but still works. Till it doesn't.
And I don't really know what to do: I need to move my Spotify cache ; link2sd and consorts don't do it.
I'm trying an init.d script, but i'm not so good at it
Any ideas ?
when i bind it, it turns to Red not green, though it moves data.
can any one attach screenshot
I have set path like this
S:/mnt/extSsCard/Mobile Systems/
T:/sdcard/Mobile Systems/
it also disappear on boot.
ROM LJ2
Directorybind does not work well with spaces in directory names.
Try renaming the folder
Thank you
That tip helped actually that was small folder so I tried first. I did with other folder and worked.
Thank you again.

GL to SD app in the play store may be of use to some people having a hard time.
Hello there.
So I am using Moto X Style with newest 6.0.1 (May patch). I found a nice price for a OTG usb memory, SanDisk Ultra Dual USB 3.0 with 16 GB of space. I ve got it formatted to FAT32 with default allocation unit using my Windows 10. When I connect this device to my phone - it is recognized correctly and I can acces it using built it file manager. As you know, this file manager really su*k in functionality, so for a daily use I am using ZArchiver or Solid Explorer without ANY problems. I am also using SD Card (SanDisk Ultra 32 GB UHS-1 with 48MB/s max speed of write) formated as external memory and yes, it works very well without any issues. I can copy any files from internal memory to it, and delete without problems.
Unfortunatelly, mentioned above Dual USB drive did not work properly with my phone. It is recognized by my phone well, I can acces memory using built-in file manager. But in any other application as ZArchiver or Solid Explorer (or many more) and problems are very random - I can write a data to it (creating a new catalogues, files, copying files from internal memory or from memory card), I can open files saved on it using Solid Explorer or built-in file manager, but I cannot delete files or archives or catalogues using ZArchiver and Solid Explorer. In ZArchiver notihing happens, in Solid Explorer I have an error mentioning, that file cannot be deleted (without any details).
Also there is no information about free space or all available space in ZArchiver and Solid Explorer - this data is available for my SD card...
On my Windows machine I can do whatever I want with this USB. Also on my Meizu M2 Note. So I just wondering if there is an issue with my phone olny, or with that Dual USB Drive...

It looks like something was changed now, but why? I am now able to delete files from my two USB stick (one is that mentioned earlier) using Solid Explorer 2.2.8. I am now on 7.0, and some time ago (still on 6.0.1) I perform a full system restore (from recovery). Maybe some system files were broken or changed, and now, after restoring (or after updating to Nougat) these files ale fixed now.
If you have a possibility, try to restore your phone. Otherwise wait for Nougat update, meanwhile use this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidkitchen.filemanager
I used it in needed of delete files from USB stick, while I cannot perform this action in other apps.
