Hi from Romania !

After one week with a T-Mobile US version (32Mb) i want to thank you all for your job.
I mean that first thing when I got it I've installed SE 1.2 and unlocked it. Afterwards I was toying with TMO 4.00.16 ENG and also upgraded radio to 6.24.
Everythnig is smooth but ... I want to build my own ROM. I've set up the makerom on a linux box and i think i will follow this steps:
1. perl setup.sh nk.nbf (this one taken from the origina TMO distribution in the RUU directory) - on the linux box
2. dumprom -4 -d files -q nk.nbf - on the linux machine to get all files
3. perl fdf2reg.pl files/default.fdf cfg/default.reg - linux
4. tr -d "\0" <files/initobj.dat >cfg/initobj.txt - linux box
5. cp files/initdb.ini cfg/initdb.ini - linux box
6. delete all files & add all the files I want to add (all kind of software)
7. bash mkrom.sh out/out.nbf - to generate the file for the SD
Questions:
a) is it possible to remove some files from the original ROM and how (any additional steps required)
b) using ssnap for the addtitional software installed ... where shall i make the additions (in files and for registry) ?
Thanks for all your support.

ROSE S740 S743 Official Radios

Hello all,
Since jockyw2001 was so nice to release Rose hardspl I spent the time finding official ROM's to test them out. In the process I extracted the radios from each & did a rebuild with pof's yang 1.1 using the following process:
Code:
1. Grabbed yang 1.1 from XDA
2. Extracted yang to a folder
3. Extracted RUU_signed.nbh from an official ROM exe file into yang folder using winrar
4. Opened CMD & went to yang folder
5. Ran yang -X RUU_signed.nbh (To extract all files)
6. Ran yang -F REBUILT_RUU_signed.nbh -t 0x301,0x200,0x600,0x400 -f 00_GSM_0x301.nb,01_SPL_0x200.nb,02_MainSplash_0x600.nb,03_OS_0x400.nb -s 64 -d ROSE***** -c 11111111 -v 1.00.000.0 -l WWE (To test SignMaxChunkSize. If rebuilt NHB is same size as original then we're golden otherwise I would have tried 1024 per the instructions)
7. Renamed 00_GSM_0x301.nb to GSM.nb (This step may not be necessary but I wanted to be safe & was pretty sure the original filename was GSM.nb)
8. Ran yang -F RADIO_RUU_signed.nbh -t 0x301 -f GSM.nb -s 64 -d ROSE***** -c 11111111 -v 1.00.000.0 -l WWE
9. Copied RADIO_RUU_signed.nbh to folder with CustomRUU.exe, renaming it to RUU_signed.nbh
10. Ran CustomRUU.exe to flash to phone & test, confirming it went on OK, had signal & radio version matched
NOTES: I set version to 1.00.000.0 to hopefully make it obvious this wasn't a full ROM but the fact it's 22MB should be pretty good indicator. I set Device ID/model to ROSE***** so it should go on any Rose. CID was set to 11111111 as shown per examples in yang instructions. Language was set to WWE although not sure that matters.
These radios are all from official shipped rom's that I found on XDA without anything changed other than using the procedure above. I tested them all on my S740 (installed & made sure I had a signal with TMobile SIM but no further testing was done) but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I can't be held responsible if you bork your phone or lose your data. The included CustomRUU.exe shouldn't require a hard reset but I'd highly recommend you backup just in case.
Here are the radio files:
S740RoseRadioAsia_12.23.30.06H_0.24.30.24 7.92MB
S740RoseRadioEurope12.23.30.06H_0.24.30.24 7.92MB
S740RoseRadioOrange_12.29.30.09H_0.29.30.22 8MB
S740RoseRadioRus_12.23.30.06H_0.24.30.24 7.92MB
S743RoseRadioBrightPoint_12.29a.30.12H_0.29.30.33 7.95MB
Hope these prove useful to someone.

** Super big thanks to jockeyw2001 for hardspl, pof for yang & to everyone else who posted up official roms to make this possible! **
good job!
2 roms came from me
With a little help of jockyw2001 I'm soon uploading non-brand us rom and hopefully u can extract it's radio and add it to your list
Soz, shout out to sasiskas for posting up 2 of the roms I used.
Yeah that would be cool but I've not been able to do radio from dump yet.. I did a rebuild of a Touch Dual NEON rom from a dump awhile back and it wasn't too fun but once you get the process down it's not so bad I suppose but it was rom only, no radio.
Hi Bill, thanks for your continued efforts.
One thing, and this is going to make me sound very thick, but I can't get the installer to run.
It reports that it fails to initialise. Should this be run on the phone or on a PC.
lol, told you i'd sound stupid, lol
Hey Jerry-S,
You plug the phone into USB & run the flasher on the computer which uses active sync to update the phone, just like flashing any ROM.
Btw, in case you are not caught up I am pretty sure your phone needs jocky's hardspl installed 1st. I say that because that gets installed the same way as these radios & if you're lost doing the radio odds are you didn't do the hardspl yet.
Bill
mods please sticky the thread
I don't know why, but a file CustommRUU.exe is not working on my computer. It is said "initialization error" when I start it.
why should i install this rom to a perfectly working phone?
gives it advantages, or stability?

yes it is definitely to boost device performance....
On which of RadioROM, you can select the COM port to work with GPS?
Newbie doubt
Hello
I'm new in these things, so I would like to help.
Will soon acquire an HTC S743, but has two problems. One is that language is not in Portuguese, the other is the FM radio does not work, the icon does not even appear to turn it on.
Did any of the roms posted here I solved the problem? and even now, like flashing my HTC S740?
I await response

[Q] Help needed to dump the original rom

Hi everybody! I bought some weeks ago a Shift and my first priority is to change the language from Italian to English. But before going ahead in flashing a new rom I thought it is wise to make a back-up of the original rom.
So in my attempt to dump the original italian rom of my Shift I've come to an error status I don't know how to overcome, therefore any help would be very much appreciated:
Following pof's How to dump HTC Shift ROM at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382609
I downloaded itsutils, unzipped on the pc and placed all the itsutils files in the c:\users\HTC User folder, (as I just did not know how to change the path in cmd to go to the c root with the itsutil folder).
Further on, with the WinMob connected to Vista with USB Tool, I introduced the first command line for pdocread
pdocread.exe -w -d FLASHDR -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x31f000 Part00.raw
and I got the answer
Copying c:\users\HTC User\itsutils.dll to WCE:\Windows\itsutils.dll (which I think it's OK) and then
rapi reinitializing (is it normal?)
and then
ERROR: CeProcessConfig – r=002349d0 ce=00000002 le=00000000 hr=80070005
– Access is denied
I have no idea on what the cause of the error could be, probably I must have done something wrong and I am stuck at this first dump step.
Can somebody please help me further to get unstuck?
Thank you very much!
Are you connected using activesync?
Also, try this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
and use pdocread -l first.

THANK YOU THAIHUGO for taking the glove of answering me on this dead forum, I really need help! I find it fantastic that you are still so active, maybe in time some other senior members will take again the challenge to support the newcomers.
Yes, WM was connected to Vista side using the USB Tool and the Windows Mobile Device Center.
Looking back, I think I opened cmd as user and not as admin (now I know how to do it), this might have been the mistake, I will try again this afternoon.
1. So far I understood that the main reading process is running under Vista using the command lines and the itsutils, which is ok.
Does it matter where the unzipped folder <itsutilsbin-20100324> is placed? I mean should it be placed obligatory in the root of the c:\ drive?
If YES, how do I do that in the cmd line, I mean change the directory? Normally the cmd screen opens to the folder c:\users\HTC User when starting as user and to c:\Windows\system32 when doing it as administrator. Is it wise to copy all the itsutils files to system 32?
Of all those itsutils files, which are the absolutely necessary files to do the dump? Are these pdocread.exe and itsutils.dll only? This is because I'd like to handle as less files as possible to the system 32 folder.
2. If I got this right, the link that you pointed to shows for the Raphael ROM how to do the dump entirely on the WM side and should be applicable to the Shift WM as well if not managing it from Vista side, is that what you were trying to say?
3. Is this way of dumping the rom covering also the radio part and the bootloader, I mean all the 4 raw files contain the whole initial memory of the WM?
Sorry to raise such beginners question, but I did not find these things explained in any of the Shift threads and without answers I cannot progress with this dump job and furtehr proceed with flashing a custom rom in English. I did search in the Shift forums and googles for answers, but maybe I did not use the right keywords.
Looking forward to receive the enlighting answers, thanks in advance!
Admin cmd mode should help yes.
1) it doesn't matter where your zip is. Just uncompress the files somewhere in a folder (c:\itsutils if you want), open you command line in admin mode, navigate from system32 folder to the itsutils folder and try again with the pdocread -l then the command from POF post.
2) do not use raphael numbers. I linked to the post for the general procedure. Proper numbers are in the POF post.
3) you will not have the radio, nor the bootloader. But you have to jump if you want to use custom roms. Bootloader is available somwhere, and radio also I think.
Still getting errors

Thank you again Thaihugo!
I gave it another try to pof's commands as you recommended this time first with pdocread -l and it doens't work, BUT I'm getting the similar error messages. While accessing cmd as administrator and running the cmd line from c:\itsutils:
pdocread.exe -l
rapi reinitializing
and then after about 35 sec
ERROR: CeProcessConfig – r=002349d0 ce=00000002 le=00000000 hr=80070005 – Access is denied
At different runs I got different addresses for r and ce, but the same for le and hr (no idea what those mean).
It doesn't change if launching as administrator or user.
I even downloaded a previous version of itsutils directly on the Vista computer and unzipped it with Total Commander and the result is the same.
Have also tried another command from pof with the same error result:
pmemdump.exe 0x8c000000 262144 SPL.nb
Of course the WM side was connected to Vista via USB Tool and I also checked if from the Vista side the WM folders were accessible.
I'm completely stuck, don't know what to do further, please help!!!
Thank you!
P.S. Have copied the itsutils.dll to the Windows folder in WM via e-mail, just like in the liberalization process in order to avoid copying it via Active sync (as recommended for Raphael). This time at the first run of the pdocread.exe I was asked to accept installing itsutils.dll on the WM side, which I did.
But I'm still getting the error messages when launching pdocread.exe -l, this time running very fast in a few seconds and after 4 turns it stops with the final message
ERROR loading itsutil.dll - probably denied by policy restrictions
Does it ring any bell to you?
My guess is that I have to relax the security policy on the WM side, but I don't know how.
I am amaized that nobody raised all these before.
I've finally done it! HowTo......
OK, I finally managed to dump the ROM thanks to the support of Thaihugo and the info in various threads on this forum (with credit to the authors), I have now the ROM and bootloader dump files, but not the radio rom.
There were several detailed steps important for beginners that were not included in POF's thread "How to dump HTC Shift ROM" at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382609 that prevented me to do the dump from the first go.
In order to spare other newcomers time, here they are:
-On the WinMob side change the Security Policies setting by installing a registry editor like PHM Registry Editor, TotalCommander, etc. (I used the cab files downloaded in Vista and moved to WinMob via the Windows Mobile Device Center);
Go to HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies and change the valuename '00001001' from dword:2 to dword:1. Save the change and soft reset your WM device.
If in doubt check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
Note: After finishing the dump operation do not forget to revert back to the initial dword:2 value
-Download itsutils from POF's site to Vista and unzip the package to a new folder "c:\itsutils".
-To be on the safe side disconnect all network connections (3G modem, wifi, BT, LAN) and all USB external devices.
-Connect the WinMob side of the liberated Shift to Vista using the USB Tool and check in the Windows Mobile Device Center that the folders and files of WinMob are indeed accessible from Vista
-Open the command line screen and go to the folder where you unzipped the itsutils tool by typing "cd c:\itsutils" (without the quotes).
-From within the folder itutils type the command "pdocread -l" (without the quotes).
At this point, with pdocread.exe started, go to the WinMob side and
you will find a message asking you to accept installing the itsutils.dll on the WM side, say Yes to it and wait until it is instelled.
Then go back to Vista side and carry on as described in POF's thread mentioned above by:
- using "pdocread.exe -l" to list the NAND PARTITIONS (which have to do also with the radio side as I understood from one of cmonex posts)
- using "pdocread.exe -w -d FLASHDR -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x31f000 Part00.raw" and the other 3 commnads to generate the 4 raw files in the same folder c:\itsutils; keep them for reconstructing the original ROM
- using "pmemdump.exe 0x8c000000 262144 SPL.nb" to dump the bootloader file to the same folder c:\itsutils; keep that too.
That's it for now.
I have to deal further with dumping the radio rom, but I don't know how to do it, I must search the forums.
A big THANK YOU to all who helped me!
I never dumped a Radio. I think the experts keep this as secret because it's quite dangerous. Isuggest you have a look at your radio version and try and fin the same radioin the forum already dumped.
Otherwise, there are roms for each radio, so you could just simply apply the one that works wth your radio. No phone call though if you don't use the right one.

Thank you again Thaihugo, it seems that you are the only senior left on duty on this dead forum....yet the counter shows 238 views of this thread. Hm, strange....Anyway, thank you for all the good hints given one way or another during the past days, I wouldn't have made it without it.
I got the message, I will not bother with dumping the Radio. I know that a particular Rom is matched with a certain radio. I will flash one of your roms, most probably Age of Reasons and the associated radio. I am not looking for tens of programs on the WM side, it is enough to have the basic things in English and instant-on. I will let you know!

[HOWTO] Create Gingerbread Keyboard Dictionary for your Language (Croatian example)

I really liked new Gingerbread Keyboard but was bugged by the fact that it was missing Croatian language dictionary, so I tried to figure out how to create one.
I made it, and it's working great so I decided to share the procedure here so others can make use of it.
Here it goes...
What you need:
1. Good source for word list frequency
Good prediction Dictionary relies on word list frequency, as defined by the AOSP
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=pl...33b63a8b8a1043fceae592b567b93ee275504;hb=HEAD
So, you need a source from which you can extract how often different words appear. After some thinking, googling, trial and error I came to conclusion that for smartphone usage there is no better place than big national forum. That's what I used, anyway.
2. OpenOffice (and MS Office) dictionary for your language
You can find it here:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/dictionaries
You don't want to have misspelled words in the dictionary, right? So, after creating word list from the source, you'll want to throw out the words that are not in this list.
Just to be sure that I'll keep all the 'good' words in the list I also ran MS Office Spelling procedure trough it. Will explain it later on.
3. Tools - GNU Utilities, MS Office, Ultraedit, Wget (HTTrack)...
There are no more powerful tools for stream editing than Unix tools. Period.
At first I tried to do something without it and when I learned a bit about them, realized how great these are for task like this. Get them here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/unxutils
Windows comes with it's own 'sort' command but you'll want to use the one from GNU utilities, so put it in the directory where you start your commands from.
You'll need to download that forum that I mentioned earlier somehow. I used wget:
http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/
It was pretty slow (took like two days to mirror part of the forum with posts). When I was near the end with the download I learned about HTTrack:
http://www.httrack.com
I tried it out shortly and it seems a lot faster (can do multiple connections!)
4. Makedict
Get it here:
http://softkeyboard.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/DictionaryTools/
For Windows, you need makedict_Windows.bat and makedict.jar
PROCEDURE:
I don't have experience with html, so at first I had to study how is vbulletin forum that I aimed at structured. I wanted to download just the pages that contain posts, and not memberlists etc. At the end I came up to this syntax for wget
Code:
wget -k -m -E -p -np -R member.php*,memberlist.php*,calendar.php*,faq.php*,printthread.php*,newreply.php*,search.php*,*sendtofriend*,sendmessage.php*,*goto=nextnewest*,newreply.php*,misc.php*,forumdisplay.php*,showpost.php*,announcment.php*,image.php*,viewonline.php*,showthread.php*mode*,showthread.php*s=*,showthread.php*page* -o log.txt http://xxxxxxx.hr/
I'm not sure if the syntax is entirely correct, but it worked for me, so I never looked back. Wget started to download only the stuff I wanted - thread pages from forum. It took long time to collect 9 GB of data. Look at the HTTrack. I think it can do it much faster.
Now you want to extract only messages text from the html
Code:
cat showthread* | sed -n "/<!-- message -->/,/<!-- \/ message -->/p > forum0.txt"
Check out what you got. You don't want the quotes included in this because they would pump up the word count for words that appear in them, so strip that out too:
Code:
sed "s/<[^:]*said://g" > forum1.txt
Finally, strip out the rest of HTML code:
Code:
sed -e "s/<[^>]*>//g" forum1.txt > forum2.txt
I noticed that I had some leftover croatian characters represented with their Unicode codes, so I replaced those too:
Code:
cat forum2.txt | sed "s/š/š/g" | sed "s/đ/đ/g" | sed "s/č/č/g" | sed "s/ć/ć/g"| sed "s/ž/ž/g" | sed "s/Š/Š/g" | sed "s/Đ/Đ/g" | sed "s/Č/Č/g" | sed "s/Ć/Ć/g" | sed "s/Ž/Ž/g" > forum.txt
Found the codes here:
http://yorktown.cbe.wwu.edu/sandvig/docs/unicode.aspx
Now you can start to make your word list by throwing out all but words
Code:
cat forum.txt | tr "[:punct:][:blank:][:digit:]" "\n" | grep "^." > unsortedallwordslist.txt
and counting how often they appear
Code:
cat allwordslist.txt | tr "A-Z" "a-z" | tr "ŠĐČĆŽ" "šđčćž" | sort | uniq -c | sort -nr > words.txt
I got around 205.000 counted words after this.
Now when you have it all nicely counted and sorted, you want to throw out misspelled and incorrect words from it. I used Excel for it. But first, I took OpenOffice word list (you can simply unzip oxt file) and cleaned it up a bit.
First, you need it in correct Windows encoding. Ultraedit can do it. In my case I had to convert from iso-8859-2 to win-1250. Open an iso-8859-2 document, go to "view/set code page" and choose "iso-8859-2", than go to: "file/conversions" and choose ASCII to UNICODE, than you will see all characters right, but when you want save edited code/text you must
convert it back, so choose UNICODE to ASCII and save it, that's it.
Also, it had suffixes such as "/AE" here and there so I removed those too
Code:
sed "s/\/[A-Z]*//g" hr_HR.dic > hr_HR.txt
and mad it all lowercase
Code:
cat hr_big.dic | tr "[A-Z]" "[a-z]" | tr "[ŠĐČĆŽ]" "[šđčćž]"
Now I imported both lists in Excel and simply checked if my forum word list words are correct by checking if they can be found in OpenOffice dictionary.
=COUNTIF('openofficedic'!A1:A375541;B1)
After that's finished, copy just the values in new column and delete the column with formulas, so it doesn't go trough it again. Sort by new values you got and keep the ones that passed trough this 'spell check' (I got around 90.000 woords in this step).
Cut&paste rows that have zeros in it in new worksheet. I wanted to compare those with MS dictionary so I don't throw anything out that is not in OpenOffice dictionary. Here is the function I used
Code:
Public Function SpellCheck(rng As Excel.Range) As Boolean()
Dim i as Long, size as Long
Dim objExcel as New Excel.Application
Dim result() as Boolean
size = rng.Cells.Count
ReDim result(1 to size)
for i = 1 to size
result(i) = objExcel.CheckSpelling(rng.Cells(i).Text)
next i
SpellCheck = result()
objExcel.Quit
End Function
The function I found was originally written to act as an array function but I never managed to work. But it worked as normal function and I just invoked it by
Code:
=SpellCheck(B1)
This took reaaaally loooong time. Again copy values to new column and delete the column with formulas so it won't go trough it again. Delete the rows with 'FALSE' in it. Check trough the rest and clean it up a bit - MS spellcheck can act funny sometimes. I got another 20.000 words from this list that weren't recognized by OpenOffice spell check, merged two lists and the final word count for dictionary was now around 110.000. I believe it's optimal, maybe a little on a bigger side, but the final main.dict is just under 900 kB which is more than acceptable.
Now, you have to distribute frequencies in 255 classes for Gingerbread prediction engine. You could do it just by dividing every number with a factor you get by dividing top word count by 255. But look at the scatter plot of this and you'll notice that you'll spend top classes very fast that way. So, I optimized the distribution a bit in a separate calculation. I arranged the word count in top class to be 1 and calculated the rest by using the formula "nextclasswordcount=previousclasswordcount*factor^4". I used Excel Solver to find the factor. Total word count had to match original wordcount (in my case 110.000), obviously. I even corrected it a bit, so that sum in new distribution is only 70.000 (1 in first class and 2000 in last), so that it smooths out the distribution nicely with more frequent words and let the rest of 40.000 fall in class "1". It took some tweaking and you could use better formula maybe, but this worked for me much better than just dividing it with same factor.
I had this calculation in two separate rows and returned the classes back next to the words:
Code:
=IF(ISNA(HLOOKUP(A6;$J$4:$JD$5;2;FALSE));D5;HLOOKUP(A6;$J$4:$JD$5;2;FALSE))
Maybe it's best to d/l xlsm from here so I don't have to explain a lot...
The rest is easy. Create the string needed for correct xml format,
Code:
=CONCATENATE("<w f=";CHAR(34);D2;CHAR(34);">";F2;"</w>")
close the word list with "<wordlist>" in first and "</wordlist>" in last row and add "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>" at the top and finally compile the .dict file:
Code:
makedict_Windows.bat from.xml > main.dict
Phew! A lot of typing.
And here is the LatinIME.apk with croatian layout and dictionary that I got this way:
HR_Gingerbread_keyboard-1.0.apk
I used mobilix's layout (thank you!) with just few my own corrections (corrected &amp glitches in symbolic keyboard).
And hera are resources where I got inspiration from (thanks Gert Schepens):
http://www.gertschepens.be/android-dictionary-files
http://blog.cone.be/2010/08/19/android-keyboard-dictionaries/
So much for now. Enjoy.
Now, the next step would be to try to include my work in official AOSP or maybe Cyanogen source. I could use few pointers on how to do that. I would prefer to do it simple. I registered on github, but that's where I got for now. I have to do some more reading about it...
Thanks for your guide!
I successfully created a danish dictionary, but how do i implement the main.dict file i just created into the LatinIME.apk?
In the LatinIME.apk file, i tried creating the folder /res/raw-da, and putting the main.dict file there. But it didn't work.
I'm glad you made it!
Be sure to create nice, clean main.dict which we will add to AOSP hopefully.
I used APK Manager to decompile, add 'raw-hr' with my main.dict, recompile and sign the .apk that already had Croatian layout. There was a bug in .apk I used that was preventing language switching and I noticed that the bug was widespread in many LatinIME.apk versions floating around. I don't know where this bug comes from but the problem was in default main.dict file in 'raw' folder which had to be replaced with proper one (I took from Cyanogenmod version of LatinIME, but you can use my .apk).
Can you, please, send me somehow this, already produced Croatian dictionary file in order to incorporate it into mine Gingerbread keyboard?
Thanks.
I presume you're after main.dict...
Use APK Manager, decompile my apk and you'll find it in 'raw-hr' folder.
Sent from my HTC Desire
hi there, i was so grateful to have found this thread after googling for almost 7hours for a tagalog dictionary
although your method of bytestreaming a forum could not work for for me who has no fast internet connection.
so i would like to verify if, upon continuous usage, will the Gingerbread keyboard modify the word frequency over time?
i mean i could modify a script to just assign 0 as frequency value for all words and use make_dict, (or to avoid problems, just assign any random value from 0 - 255)
and as i use my keyboard, will it edit those frequency scores eventually?
anyway, im trying it out right now and would post my results here too.

hi there, i was so grateful to have found this thread after googling for almost 7hours for a tagalog dictionary
although your method of bytestreaming a forum could not work for for me who has no fast internet connection.
so i would like to verify if, upon continuous usage, will the Gingerbread keyboard modify the word frequency over time?
i mean i could modify a script to just assign 0 as frequency value for all words and use make_dict, (or to avoid problems, just assign any random value from 0 - 255)
and as i use my keyboard, will it edit those frequency scores eventually?
anyway, im trying it out right now and would post my results here too.

I'm very much looking forward to your results..
it's driving me crazy everytime i reflash my ROM that i need to rebuild my Tagalog user dictionary.
@ytsejam_
Hey there, i was done with the dictionary although i have yet to test it with a compatible rom, and to further complicate thngs, its too tedious to populate the dictionary with tagalog text-speak (e.g.: cnu, sno)
As there are so much variations for a single word, hehe although im still building it up so hehe, i hope other pinoy's can wait for it,
As far as i know this approach on creating dictionaries only work on Samsung devices and not necessarily android so i hope by then they still own their galaxy hehe

Copy kbd_qwerty.xml and kbd_qwerty_black.xml to appropriate xml-xx subfolder and edit it in unicode. You should figure it out. It's pretty easy.
Hi, I tried installing it on CM7 Wildfire, but I keep getting App not installed. Do you know the cause maybe?

If it's just signed with the test-keys it will not install like a normal app. You would have to resign it with your own key.

Hi,
Did you need to change anything else except adding dictionary in raw-hr folder? I'm trying to add croatian dict to ICS keyboard but it looks like I cannot get system to recognise that dictionary is available.
Maybe some xml files should be updated?

Not sure why it does not work. Try to compile it from source. If you succeeded, share with the rest of us what you did to make it work.

Has anyone managed to find a solution for this? I'm also looking to add a portuguese dictionary to the keyboard, though after adding the dictionary to latinime.apk it wasn't recognized.

Hi, I'm trying to make montenegrin input language, it is similar to croatioan just two letters more Ś, ś, Ź, ź.
Opening with unicode notepad++ can't edit kbd_qwerty.xml and kbd_qwerty_black.xml

[APP] fortune-mod-1.99.1 for Android (native)

Introduction
I've compiled a native version of the famous fortune (fortune-mod)!
This is the command line fortune that some seasoned *nix programmers / admins might remember from the past (when you log into and a small text message appeared on the console).
You need root and bash installed on the phone (bash is not mandatory, but is easy to add a line to the bash_profile and have the fortune display each time you login via PuTTY).
How it looks
Using droidsshd, this is how the UI looks when you connect with PuTTY:
Code:
login as: root
[email protected]'s password:
Hug me now, you mad, impetuous fool!!
Oh wait...
I'm a computer, and you're a person. It would never work out.
Never mind.
[[email protected]]/sdcard#
It also works with the terminal emulator
Download
fortune-mod-1.99.1.tar.gz
It contains also the offensive fortunes!
Install
To install it, you need to be root of course. The archive contains the structure that has to be copied as is to the phone:
Code:
/system/bin/fortune <- main executable
/system/usr/share/games/fortunes/ <- folder where fortune files have to be unpacked
After you copy everything to the correct location, two more things to be done:
Code:
chmod 755 /system/bin/fortune
vi /sdcard/bash_profile
// add the line below as the last line of the file
/system/bin/fortune
If you want the offensive fortunes, give "-o" as argument to fortune, in the last line.
Observations
a) It works with English only I believe, since I had to disable internationalization to get it to compile (no support in NDK for this).
b) I've only tested it on my X10, but I'm very curious if it works on other phones too so please let me know!
For geeks only!
