htc cube viewer will not open video - Touch CDMA General

Hello. flashed my xv6900 to wm6.1 have wmp and the jade image viewer that is paired with the htc camea.
it appears the jade image viewer takes over both the image viewing and video viewing options within the cube 3 panel both open default into the My Photos directory regardless of what settings are picked.
I can surf to My Video and they thumbnail shows of the video but selecting the video products no moving image as expected in wmp.
such a bummer that I flashed to 6.1 to pick up some featues i like just lose a few others!

It's only the cube!
Change the reg values.

Opposed to being the truth?
Don't believe me, a simple search will prove it correct.

ok, time to rant...
1. If i was a complete newbie then you answer is useless. It provides no direction, no specifics and reads like a smart a$%! comment.
2. If I am not a newbie then obliviously 99% of all tweaks are handled in the registry and a more specific or useful answer would be far helpful then telling someone "go fish".
"it's the cube" has little meaning as an aswer and obviously it has something to do with the cube, as that is the program I am referring too!
So usually when one inquires about a poor or vague answers it's pretty predictable that the next one tells the inquire to learn how to use the search function or google as "it's been covered 1001 times before". Let's just hope they have tried that but either due to not knowing what key words to search, what direction to go or just far to many hits due to far to many threads...it just doesn't always work out. In my case I spent an hour researching the topic...then I asked...and this is what I get?
Hopefully as a senior member you are far more helpful in the real world then the virtual one. My guess (and I frequent my share of forums) is the people who have been around since the early days of a particular BB or technology just get so sick of the same questions or the fact many people don't have great logic or tech skills.
I could be dead wrong on every comment here but your vague answer really is not helpful. If you know something specific on this topic, then add to it. If you felt that you did write something useful then you should elaborate when the inquirer is not "getting it" which may be my case. We both could be wrong but I seriously got no help from either reply.
It's funny how much I see this on tech boards but seldom on my automotive boards.

I imagine you still haven't searched yet. You see, all the new people start new threads because they can't find their answer, then get **** because they pay no attention to a general rule. Had you searched anything remotely close to my search below, you would have found your answer in under FIVE minutes, guarenteed. Call me nuts, but I think that's a lot quicker than waiting on another smart ass comment from me, don't you think?
In fact, I tried a few other very simple searches, all with the same basic result, THE ANSWER.
The below image is page 1 of my search, some titles are quite to the point on whether or not it's what you are looking for.
So, when I say "It's only the cube", that's because it's just the cube, been discussed over and over and over again. What's that mean? There are more than enough threads to give you good search results.

Exec summary after just over a week of use...

Here's my comments after just over a week of use so far (O2 Exec Corp install with GBP Weather, IPToday, MagicButton installed)
1. Frustratingly slow when typing text messages, when using the inside keyboard there appears to be a delay between pressing the key and the letters actually appearing within the body...why?
2. The phone is frustratingly slow as well, when dialing sometimes the dialing tone isn't even made for some keypad numbers although the number is still dialed
3. Hanging up appears to take some time, around 2 seconds upon pressing the hangup button
4. Waking up the machine from it being turned off (standby) takes a few seconds before it becomes usable?
5. Answering calls when the Exec is closed with screen inwards...is this possible and if so how do you hold it to ensure the person can hear you, and likewise?
6. I need a GPS unit, am I best with wired/wireless (which had best battery length?), but don't want to spend a lot, any recommendations?
Thats about it for now but its enough to cause me issues...the things sexy, there's no doubt about that, but needs A LOT of tweaking - why did they not release it with a little more ram? 256 perhaps, is that the answer?
Appreciate your help!
Dude, you truly need to read thro this forum. All of these issues have been covered extensively, and most (all?) of us now have highly efficient, sleek, and fast machines. It's a bit unfair to ask people to post the answers again...
Spend some time then ask us for help on the couple of issues you truly cannot solve - you will then get a lot of support.
I've been through the entire forum and generally can't find a conclusive forum that solves the problems here!!! Unless I'm missing something...?
The main problem is that people don't name their subjects appropriately, and instead put 'Help me please...' or similar - doesn't help searching at all.
Could you point me in the right direction?
ashley,
if you hard reset (back/save first) your Exec and select Corporate mode (code is 0506) you Exec will have more user memory and will run faster. If you install GSPocketmagic++ it will be even faster.
I hope this helps.
Thanks dude, did the Corp install as my first measure anyway, but haven't yet tried PocketMagic, I'll give that a go and have a search on the forum to see what it does!
Can anyone direct me to a GSPocketMagic download? I don't seem to be able to find an English download?
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1276
However, I would recommend smallmenuplus; it has a freeware version, and I'd recommend paying for the full version's bells and whistles.
It's "based" on gspocketmagic (whether legally or not is still a debate I think), but it has improvements which make it a better option. Some of the boys have had a debate about whether gsp++ introduces a magic bullet that somehow speeds up the Universal. I don't think so, both are just good and efficient task managers. SmallMenu seems to provide the same and better functionality.
I'm not knocking GSP++, but SmallMenu is a more finished product.
My Smallmenu setup:

Thanks guys - I've just installed PocketMechanic and having run the Registry Cleaner my system is ALREADY running faster (half the time to execute apps now!)...so for anyone with similar problems, I suggest you start there!
Will get PocketMagic++ on there a little later tonight, and thanks again!
Vijay555,
So does SmallMenu also speeds up the HTC Universal without GSPocket Magic installed?

iPhone theme -very easy to install/use and most important download :)

I don't know if I am breaking any laws of this forum - if so, I would ask moderators and admins to delete this post ASAP.
I am not inventor or maker of this - I just found it somewhere on the internet and figured to share with my Wizard family here.
It shows very good iPhone look a like skin...
Try it out for yourself and let us know what was your experience.

First scrshot is main screen - then I have installed iPhone dialpad and PocketCM contact manager - I have included all three. I couldn't get scrshot of Slide unlock thing but you know how it looks on iPhone.

Not sure I understand what this thread is all about? It seems to have been posted today (or have I got this wrong?) but points to software which has been being used for months and referred to in various threads?
Is there something I am missing here or have you actually published an .ini file somewhere which lets users use all those icons (by pointing the iTunes icon to windows media player etc)? Or have you managed to get the sking to run on start up or have you managed to get the slider to hog less memory?
Please tell us what is going on in this thread!

Wheel-2-Unlock is UNDER DEVELOPEMENT!!!

EDIT: UNDER DEVELOPEMENT AND WILL BE RELEASED WHEN READY! KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD!!!!
Here's an idea... when you turn your phone off, it locks... when you turn it on, you must roll your thumb/finger to the right around the wheel of the diamond to unlock it...
as you wheel around, the white line around the circle begins to fill from the top, moving rightward around...
sorry for the poor image quality, i just threw it together as a thought.
I hope a developer can throw this together, prolly isn't hard at all and would really be cool for the diamond. Better graphics and glowing line ofcourse.
its simple and utilizes the unique hardware of the diamond, and also the pro.

anyone like?
anyone down to try and create it?
Wish i could, but i have no idea where to start. i'm in the dark here.
to clear up any confusion that may come up, the lights on the wheel itself don't need to light up as you wheel around... only the circle on the screen.
as you would pass a point on the wheel, another section of the ring on the screen would fill in.
Sounds like a good idea. Hope someone have the time to make it.
im sure that 'wheel-2-unlock' is one of the features of the TouchXperience ROM but it would take a long time for this rom to be released i guess.
TouchXperience is a ROM? Not just a cab installation?

sounds good, i hope someone can do it
Ok guys, i got a good man to try and put this together... he's farther along than he thought and will be releasing something when he feels its ready to meet the world!
Sounds like a good idea - I posted something very like it in the AnswerKeys Disabler thread a few weeks ago!
Glad someone has the skills to make it happen!

CapacitiveFingerLock
I am working on such an idea already for a week or so:
CapacitiveFingerLock.
It will have another locking/unlocking mechanism on top of StylusLock, as described in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2681112&postcount=62
Because I am now on a business trip in America, I had not much time to work on the program. But I haven proven already that it works. I have to remove some stuff from the proven program, and integrate it with my already existing StylusLock. The goal is that it does NOT cost extra battery power and CPU and is really simple to use.
The reason to add this, is to have it possible to lock and unlock "one handed". The StylusLock approach cannot be done "one handed", e.g. on a bike. Also some people do not like to operate with the StylusLock. The combination with this new CapacitiveFingerLock and existing StylusLock will suit more people. And sometimes people will use the Stylus, so they will get the right behaviour depended on the usage.
Good idea, as I do not use any locks or such applications, but this one sounds nice. Just remember that this app should not conflict with, or somehow overcover and incomming call

Woohoo, I've been asking for such a thing for weeks now. Do you have a working version already?
That would be awesome.
Definitely MUCH MUCH better than SensorLock and all the - no need to mention - rest!
Especially because SensorLock is still buggy as hell!

[Q] New dev'r need's a push :)

Hi Everyone,
I am a wicked 3D modeler, wish I could say the same about being an Android developer.
I have a question...is it hard to show me a working example (a 2D object roaming a map that has a background image as the map) that I can load in Eclipse that will run in the AVD 2.2 so I can read the source and get my head to wrap around it?
The only code I have gotten a good grip on is PHP/MySQL/B3D , so new code is something I can easily (hopefully) adapt to.
So, a step 1 from loading it into Eclipse, all the way to seeing it in the emulator would be greatly appreciated.
If this is a tall order I appologize. Rememeber, I am new to Android, but so far loving the heck out of it!!!
Best Wishes
Check out developer.android.com and start with the hello world tutorial. After that I'd check out the lunar lander and/or jet boy demos
If you want to do only 2d games, head to http://www.andengine.org/
It's a free, really easy to use and fast (hardware opengl) 2D game engine.
Scan the barcode on the project's website to grab a example app showing off the engine's capabilities.
The engine doesn't have much of a documentation, but it's open-source and you can download the source code for demo application where each feature is demonstrated in a separate file with comments, so you can figure out how most things work just by reading through this code.
There are some tutorials around the project's forum including setting up the ecplipse for the first time. And in case you can't figure out something from the source code and tutorials, there are a lot of really helpful people over there so you can ask away.
The cool thing it that the engine takes care of most android-specific tasks for you, and you can just concentrate on programming your game/demo After you get a feel for it, you can try moving on to generic android examples and tutorials to implement more features and learn more about inner workings of an android application.
Most people would probably suggest doing it the other way around, but in my opinion it's much easier to get into coding if you can actually see some cool results, like animations, particle effects, physics-enabled games/demos instead of just a boring notepad app
I have done the "Hello World" from the web, it worked great.
The reason I asked for what I did is because I noticed that alot of examples have things missing to keep people from taking thier hard work. So I need something intact/working to learn from.
I looked at the andEngine and first thing I ask is what is the scan thing?
I appreciate the responses guys, thank you.

Oh, sorry, i forgot you're new to android and might not have used the barcode scanner
There's a 2d barcode on the andengine website:

}
Just download an app called "barcode scanner" from the market, launch it and point your phone at this barcode. This is usually easier than typing an url manually on the phone
Or just search for "andengine examples" in the market and install it to see what andengine has to offer.
I do not own an Android phone, I am basically hoping the SDK and Eclipse will be all I need for a working title.
I did the Snake and Jetboy examples. The Jetboy booted but did not play well, and the snake one loads into the AVD but the snake does nothing.
Both examples tell me I have an error in my R.java file (this line- setContentView(R.layout.main); ) it fails and keeps me from running it anymore.
And below in the text box it said this in red "DeviceMonitor]Sending jdwp tracking request failed!"
Any ideas?
Well, it looks like my Norton Firewall was blocking it or something, when I turned it off then the error went away.
I have been running the snake demo all day and wow, this is going to be fun working on the Android dev side.
I noticed something I do not understand. I was assuming (I know my fault) that the collision on the border sprites were based on "this box hit that one" but it's not, it's based on the borders of the screen via math as I'm sure you all know already.
How do I add like a small island (the little sprite boxes) to it for fun and tell the game to read coll based on one image hitting another one?
thanx in advance for anyone willing to ponder this for me many thanks.

Any Ideas Please?

This is the screen on my junsun v1 pro when I go into the trip computer on my Peugeot 208 1.4HDi. The gear icon (ringed in red) asks for a code when I tap on it and I cannot find a code for this anywhere. I have no idea what it's for since the other 2 screens just have a clear button to reset the trip memory. I assume there are some settings but since I can't find the code, I have no idea. If anyone knows what this code is I would be grateful!!
[edit] I have tried all the obvious ones: 8888 8878 1234 5678 etc etc etc

I assume this means that no-one here knows, or can hazard a guess. I posted the question in the wild hope that someone might have the same setup and know what the code is. To be honest, if you don't know what the code could be then I doubt that the system info and Mcu version will make any difference unless you have a magic key to extract it.
I don't have access to the car just now but, if it will make any difference I'll get the info when I do...

Usually it's better to post your question in a thread related to your head unit because many users will get an email with your question.
Most users will not read a thread with the generic title "any ideas please?" because in most cases it only contains a thrown down question asked by a lazy user.

Oh dear.
It would have been useful if someone with the same setup had happpened upon the question and know the answer. Every other feature works fine so I didn't expected someone to put in days of work to solve the issue and, honestly, I'm not that worried about it.
FWIW I have not had access to the car since last I posted the original question, so have not been able to get more info. I realise it was probably very rude of me not to say that before but the post had dropped down so many pages I assumed it would fade into obscurity, like an 80s rock group.
I don't really want to get into an argument here, TorstenH, but are you a little bitter? Do you feel the world is treating you unfairly? It's the only reason I can see for that last post from you. I don't spend a lot of time on this forum and when i went looking for my post it was, something like, ten plus pages down so, as i said, I assumed it would be forgotten. Lighten up.
