Does anyone know how I can convert png or ico files to dll files so that it can be used with SK Shortcut Manager or PocketTweak to create shortcut icons?
I have been searching online for a method for a long time and it appears that the only way to do so is by using Visual FoxPro. However, I don't have this program and there isn't a trial version i can download. (I don't want to spend money buying a program just to make a few dll files for my shortcuts)
I have also tried some other freewares and trial softwares online but none of them are successful.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Attached here are the 3 icons i would like to turn into dll files. If anyone know where to get them as dll files, that would be great too.

Still not working...
i downloaded the program and used the IconDLL.dll file i got from PHM Tools then i changed the icons inside to the one i want. However, I still can't get it to work despit doing that.
What I did after getting the new .dll file with my icon in is use the shortcut creator program I found here. I tried to read other .dll files and i could see the icon but as soon as I use my own .dll file I made (which I put in the /Windows), it crashes the program. I then tried another program, the Strat Menu programs manager and I still could not read my icon.
I even went through all the post in this forum about shortcuts and tried some of the tricks there. I downloaded Microangelo Librarian and attempted to use IconDLL.dll by adding in my own icons (as vijay suggested in an earlier post), however, according to the advice he gave, that should be it and it should've been easy. This wasn't the case because I couldn't save the file as a .dll file since it said that the file is a read only file or is locked. I then tried save as but that only save it as a lib file.
I have been at this for a whole day now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
** oh and I even tried using SK Shortcut Manager and I still couldn't read the .dll file I made :..(

I also use Microangelo Librarian.
what we have to do is just open the program.
1. Drag any icons into blank librarian.
2. Save as *.icl
3. Just rename those *.icl to be *.dll
4. Copy to PPC
5. Enjoy

even tho i changed the name to .dll, when i dragged it into my pda, it's still a librarian file and i was unable to read it. perhaps, i'm doing something wrong if it works for other people.
i'm starting to feel this is more trouble than it's worth. Thanks for the advice tho. If anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know.

For me, I have to put .dll into \Windows; otherwise, it is not work.
In addition, you may try using icon_viewer utility to view those dll in order to ensure it is a work dll.
The attach is icon_viewer. Copy to PPC and run.

problem solved!!
just to refresh this thread and to give others some info if they're stuck with what I was stuck with. I finallt managed to create .dll files and use them in my pda as shorcut icons.
Instead of using Michelangelo Libarian which I am still confused about, I found this great freeware called "BeCyIconGrabber". It allows you to extract icons from .dll and .exe files and you can also load multiple icons there as save it as .dll.

1 unzip and put it memory
2 disable touch flo

I then disabled Touch Flo 3D through Settings -> Today, and then copied the theme into the Windows folder on the phone. The Today screen disappears, but even after switching the phone off and on again I don't get the new theme?

to answer both of you .theme files dont work on all phones, it is something to do with the manila version (i think, but then i dnt really care if im wrong as i know a solution lol)
the solution is simple, rename it to .zip, unzip it, then copy all those files to your windows folder.
many themeing products use zip's disguised as other file extensions, for example, if you download some icons from stardock for use with the iconpackager, and you dont have the iconpackager software, download the icons and rename them from ***.ip to ***.zip then extract them as a zip.
remember anything in a package is compressed, the most common form of compression is zip, if that dont work, then rar!

I really like the looks of this theme but can't get in on my Fuze.
It seems to go through the motions of installing it from TF3D config, but after the final reboot and turning touchflo back on, I get a mostly white theme with a screwy clock.
Not sure what you mean by "rename it to .theme" when it already is.
And your fix of renaming it to .zip and then unzipping just gets me 361 zip error messages and an empty unzip folder.

then you are unzipping it wrong, i have been doing this with .theme files ever since someone decided that it was a good idea to use them..
(its not a good idea BTW because you have to have an old version on manila to run the .theme)
just rename the file to .zip and extract it. it not hard:
1: Download real_black.zip
2: Extract and get real_black.theme
3: Rename real_black.theme -> real_black.zip
4: EXTRACT
(i know this works as i have just done it before typing this last sentence!!)

I read through this thread and followed how to install but it didn't work out for me. I even tried the TF3D config. Can someone help me out a more step by step little new at this stuff. Would really appreciate the help.

I have a Vodafone branded device, and I installed this theme. But in every page I have a white background (because it's branded). Does anybody know how I can make every page black?

It seems to be a very cool site for customization, but i've been wondering where should i start if i want to make my own themes? I got CFC and Manila editor. Are there tutorials or manuals on using those programs? And is there a way to extract the preinstalled theme that came with my phone so i can modify it? Thanks for any help.

To extract your phone's TF3D files
To extract your phone's TF3D theme, connect it to your computer using Activesync (XP) or WMDC (Vista) and click on "Explore Files". While exploring your devices files, navigate to the Windows folder of your cell phone then sort the files by type. Look for a collection of files that end in "manila" (there should be ALOT). Copy EVERY file that ends with .manila from your device to a folder on your computer (give it a couple minute as there are many files to copy).
To copy manila files to a manila editor
Using either Manila Editor of CFC GUI (i personally think CFC GUI is much easier to use because it gives me less errors), click on "File" and "Select Folder" to navigate to the folder where you copied the manila files on your computer. Select the folder and the files will be loaded into the program
To make your own theme
Once you have copied the manila files and loaded them into either Manila Editor or CFC GUI, the next step is to replace some of the icons with the ones you want for your theme. In CFC GUI (I havent used Manila Editor and dont remember the buttons for this so I cant instruct how to use it), click on any of the files and you will get a preview of it. If you would like to SAVE that icon in a png format to edit (with Photoshop/Gimp etc.) click on "SAVE AS" and choose the directory in which you would like to save it. To replace a manila file with your own, click on the file then select "REPLACE WITH" and choose your file (NOTE: The file you choose absolutely MUST be the same size as the original. If the original file is 128x128, the file you replace it with must also be 128x128).

There are multiple ways to install a theme to your device but ill go through the easiest and quickest method using Total Commander
1) Copy the manila files that you changed to a new folder on your phone (Give this folder the name of your theme). Turn off the TF3D plugin (Settings/Today/Items/ Uncheck Tf3d). Then use Total Commander to find the new folder and copy all of the files in the folder to the Windows directoty of your device. If you get a prompt, select "Overwrite All" and give it a minute to replace the files. Soft reset your device and youre done

how do i install files in a folder and out of the folder is registry file?
when i down load a file. some of them come not as a cab file but it comes it contains a folder and a registry file out of the folder. i believe folder contains program file. where do i put which and where? can u help.

What are you trying to install?...and where? I am sorry if I am miss understanding you but it sounds like you have a file with a reg file and another folder named files? is this right?
something like that. when i down load a file its not a cab file.it is a zip file. when i unzip. it has a folder with program with some files in the folder, but out of the folder or root directory there is 2to 3 files look like reg file. i do not know where to place these file.

Could you link me to the file so I can see it?
im tryin to install it in to my htc hd2 phone. its a program i downloaded. from xda. like camara hack. ther is a folder and files on the root directory. in the folder though there is a camara icon or program.

Post the file or link me to where you got it please. I want to make sure I give you good info so it works.
sounds like a cracked app, where you get the prog folder and a reg file to crack it.

The cab files can be opened with winzip on your PC. The contents of a cab file is usually an xml file, icon file and other files for installation. Are you sure you are not opening a cab file in winzip?

Thats an OEM package for use in kitchens when cooking ROMS. You cant install it to a running system. (Well, not in that form anyway)

From the look of the reg it enables one of the hidden functions in the camera. I thought most cooks enabled all the functions when they cooked up the rom but could be wrong. I know I do

icons
can u help me with one more thing. i downloaded some icons. it does not have any other files but icons and album file. when i place the file into the windows directory. gives me an message that it can not be overitten due to not enough space and file is being used. how do i change go around it.

most cab files/apps i download and install are very straight forward and I save to storage card and there are right there on my "start" screen. others I download and I cant find them? I look through the file explorer but either cant find them or dont know what to do if I do find the file.
example, egg timer 1.0 -I can find it listed on "remove programs" page page so I know I got it. but how do I get it to a more 'usable' location.
another example. I want to get the Bluetooth toggle (BTtoggle) from pocketnow site. I downloaded the app, then it says I need to edit my registry (I understand the dangers of this) at
"HKLM\software\HTC\Manilla" and change the value of HomeLSKPath to the path to your BTtoggle.exe .....etc.....
First time editing registry, so sounds like I need to get a registry editor. I looked for a free one. CeRegEdit version 5.2.exe file. looks like it downloaded ok but I cant find on device??
LASTLY, I use CoOkies home editor and I really like it, but does that mean I cant do other changes/app installs to any HTC sense items/lock screen/home screen/etc? thanks for reading this far....steve

Aloha, and just because you're in civil service like that, I'll give you a hand with this one here...but it's usually best to open a new thread with a bunch of questions like that. You can just edit your post above to just say "moved to new thread", and then copy all that you wrote into a new thread you start...you'll probably get more views/responses that way too
These cabs will give you a toggle for bluetooth, wifi, and a reset button. Once you run the cab, you can find them in your start menu, but they're most useful when you assign them to one of the quicklink spots (on your home tab), just like you would any other program.
P.S. you'll find a lot more useful stuff for your new phone right here in these forums, and 99% of it is free, and known to work on the HD2 (unless stated otherwise). Start HERE and HERE

i ripped the newest leo rom out and i want to edit the file in manilla core to exclude footprints
i know i have to edit 26948339_manilla but with wich program do you have to that?
i tried it with notepad but then it gets saved as a text file and not a system file
couldnt find a program either in the software department in the stickies wich could do it(or atleast is described to be able to)
the second question is wich package arranges the file explorer
hope some oen can help me out

Simply Notepad will do, remove the Read-Only and you can save, don't know what you mean about the File Explorer thing.
I think I used notepad to save the file..
What do you mean with the file that arranges file explorer? The file that place file explorer in the start menu? Thats initflashfile..

and now i have rebuilded it(i know stupid i didnt have a backup)
with the previous kitchen when i reachd the end of the list it would give a bounce effect
i lost this in file explorer while i still have it in contacts(for example)
so i think there is a reg wrong in file explorer package but i dont knwo wich package it is
is it a sys package or a ext package
i run a search treu the kitchen with for ''fileexplorer'' but without results

Don't think its needed to put it back to read-only. I never do that anyway.
The bounce in file explorer and start menu etc is done by physicsengine from WM6.5

do know the package i whas looking for is fexplore.exe but its only a dll and no reg
wonder what could cause the problem as i have it everywhere except file explorer:S

u can use notepad2 ...it will be easy to edit the tabs with notepad2

i am using 21907 so it should work by its own
also it a boumce thingie i have it in contacts and everywhere else i try but not in file explorer
i also tried the one from 21901 and im sure the rom i cooked with that build a couple of roms back it had the bounce thingie at the end of file explorer:-o
could it be 21907sys included a 6.5.x fexplorer? will try that later and wil lalso report if the physicsengine appelflap posted wroks or not
flashing the rom with appelflaps now is at 50%

Don't re-cook and flash just to test out a .dll. You can over-write the rom module with a filed .dll using total commander,and after a soft reset see if things are working.

edit: well copyd it over to my windows folder but nothing gets overwritten
any idea where i could find that file on the phone
anyway with the file placed in windows folder i still dont have the bounce in file explorer but i do have it in the contacs list again:S
isnt there any reg for the bouncing cause when i hold till the loadingcircle for menu comes and i start scrolling before the menu pops up i can get the bounce in file explorer:-o

i dont know if there is a REG for bounce.... i dont know why you dont have nothing to overwrite... seems that you dont have the physics engine before so weird.
i know the physics engine is a module in my sys(got it this way from a few topics above)
kinda weird as it is working in startmenu, twittertab, contacts, settingstab and everywhere else you can think of having the bounce
