contact number style - G1 General

I've imported contact from sim to the phone and the numbers are written in the correct way dor me(europe stile) +39333123456 like this.
But i add new contact i can only write in us style 012-0123-3256.
There's no solution for now?
There's a possibility to manage all the numbers on the pc and the syncronize with G1?

You should be able to log into your gmail account and look for the link that says "all contacts" from there you are able to edit all your contacts. The next time you sync the phone to the Gmail account it should fix the issue. It sucks having to go crazy like that but there is the way I would try it.
I'm unfortunately having issues right now. My phone hasn't been able to sync to my Gmail contacts for 4 days now.

If you flash your G1 to the UK firmware, you will get your phone numbers in the correct europe format.
I will do this as soon as I get mine
Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow

If you succeed, please tell me how to flash the uk version on a us phone. I suppose you 'll need root access for that? (I hope someone jailbreaks RC30 OTA).

Global Address List (GAL) on the Nexus one?

Hi All
I tried searching everywhere, no one could give me an answer to this. I am yet to receive my Nexus one and I had 2 major concerns.
1. I would like to be able to search the Global Address List (GAL) for a phone number to make a phone call.
2. To search and input email addresses from the Global Address List (GAL) when composing a mail.
Can some one please clarify if it is currently possible, if not as usual please tell us a way forward.
Thanks in advance and sorry if I am naive.
i tried the one off the droid, installs but doesn't work says requires other droid peices, calendar sync from droid fails install all together
I saw just this solution for GAL now..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5315002&postcount=36
Is there anyway the calendar and the GAL can be incorporated without rooting the phone. I am a big time n00b and dont want to risk screwing the warranty on a new $600 phone, especially when i live on the other side of the earth
This solution does not work on Nexus One
Does any one have a solution for N1 with the original ROM
I was trying to figure this out a long while ago for the Magic when we were still using Exchange at work. The only way I could find then was syncing to Google Contacts and get those on the phone. There are a number of solutions for getting contacts from Exchange -> Google, but I can't remember much about it anymore.

sim contacts editing

Is there an easy way to edit all the contacts on my SIM card? ive got some bogus names or like first name with a last initial or "Mike Cell" (i know vague right?)? While I have my SIM contacts imported into my phone and I can change the info on my phone but it doesnt change it on the SIM card itself and I really dont wanna go through this **** again when I get bored and root my phone...
any suggestions, looks like there is an app that i could pay for (contact2sim pro?) but im looking for something simpler...
by the way, this is my first android phone (just got it today) so i am not all that savvy with everything (yet)
When I first got my G1, it automatically imported the contacts off my SIM into the phone, which then synched with my Gmail contacts. I then edited the contacts through Gmail and it automatically updated on the phone on the next sync. I also found another app later that you could use to format every number on my phone the same way. So before, some numbers were formatted differently, and after they all were formatted as +1.XXX.XXX.XXXX. Can't remember the name of that app, but anyway I think you're looking for the first part of my answer.
Edit: The app I mentioned, which you may or may not need, is Contacts Cleanup by Peter Baldwin.

you sir win the prize but have no paypal link for me to buy you a beer
this bit of information just made sim contacts obsolete as long as i continue to use an android phone and for 530 bux im not going anywhere soon other than to maybe file bankruptcy lol
a method to edit the sim card would still be nice, if all else i can pull my htc excalibur out of the shoebox and do it on there
No need to send me donations... but if you want, feel free to donate a couple bucks to a charity. We in the Android community do what we can.

[Q] Problems with Galaxy 3

Hello everyone,
I have a new Galaxy 3 and i have some serious (for me) problems with it.
1) I copyed my contacts from my SIM to the phone and then after i entered
my gmail account it didnt sync the contacts with the gmail.
I go to account pressed sync, it did sync but my gmail account still aint have contacts.
Is there any special way to do it? cause from my experience android do it
automaticly.
2) Im from Greece and i need greek and english keyboard for different use.
I go to the setting of the keyboard and trying to select 2 languages but
it let me select only one. And in the keyboard there is no option to change language.
So every time i need to go into setting and change it.
Is there a way to fix this?
3) I go to mobile network setting and i dont see a setting that turns off the data.
I want to be able to turn on and off the data because some times i connect to
wifi networks with low signal and when i loose the signal it start automaticaly
to use my 3g.
is there a way to turn on and off the 3g data?
Thanx in advance.

ok, if you had an android before than maybe its just not displaying any contacts:
eclair: contacts->menu button (left one) display options, find google/gmail account and select to show
froyo: contacts->menu button->more->display options same as^
if you didnt have android before, and you want to have phone numbers in your account gmail account you have to copy them to it like you copied the sim contacts to ur phone.
if what you want to show email addresses and it is not showing then you go to display options (mentioned above) and deselect only with phone

if you are using swype (which i recommend if you are using samsung keyboard) you can change language by long pressing the letter q.
you can switch between input methods by long pressing a text box->input method.
another possibility is having one language on one keyboard and one on the other and switching between them, which could be useful (if your swype doesnt have greek and sam keyboard does)

If i remember correctly thats:
settings->wireless and networks->mobile networks-> deselect use packet data(or an option with a similar name)
I had before android phone but its irelavant.
I dont have contacts now in my email in gmail for my own reasons.
I go settings/ more / copy contacts / copy from sim to phone.
and this copies my contacts from sim to the phone.
Normally it should sync those contacts with my google account
but it doesnt.
Also there is no option to do it manualy.
As for third issue for the data. This phone dont have this option.
As i said i know where to go and look. Im familiar with android but
where you say this option is not there.
My other android phone (wildfire) has it.
more info on your phone please? like is it i5800 or i5801? what firware do you have (eclair or froyo).
im still a bit uncertain about what you want, you want phone numbers to be copied to gmail? preexisting phone numbers to be included? what?
if i find something in the meantime ill edit this post

Download APNDroid. It disables whole mobile network.
I had the same problem as you, had to check every second if the wireless connection had been lost, but not anymore
firmware 2.1 update 1
model GT-I5800
As for what i want to do i guess you are refering in problem no1.
So i put my SIM card on the phone. I copyed my SIM card contacts in my phone.
then i put my gmail email account in my phone.
I synced the phone with the email account.
From what i know my contact list in my email should get all the contacts i have in the phone.
So my contact list in my email is still empty while my phone has all my contacts.

By "It disables whole mobile network" you mean also the signal for call etc?
If so it wont help me
Nah, it just has an option to disable\enable internet access. Sorry for being a bit misleading
Another light weight option for switching on/off GPRS/3G is 'APN on/off widget' available in Android market..works very well for my G3.
the phone has different contact database for
1. sim
2. phone
3. google account
your phone will show all or one depending on your choice
you must copy from your phone contact to your google contacts
then when you sync it will be copied to google's servers

T-mobile contact sync

Can someone let me know what/where t-mobile's contact sync .apk can be found in a rom (like ice), or maybe post it if it is handy? Loaded up evil's z rom the other day, went into contacts and unchecked sim card contacts from view and only 4 contacts showed up, one of them being myself. Haven't ever gotten around to loading contacts into google yet, this is an obvious reason to do so...would just like to get my contacts back on my phone. Tried to search in the market for it, but the only one I found apparently only works for 1 type of phone. Thanks in advance

I am not sure that will even work as it may rely on Sense and most rom don't have Sense framework only those that has Sense supported so if you even pull the .apk it may not work. But I see you don't trust google I use to be like that and at this point honestly I don't care if they want you they will find you so make your life easy and import it to Google. Now I know TMobile does not have export if you logon line and access it so what you need to do is have rom like stock rom or IG which has it and export it to CSV file and then import it to Google contact under Android.
Yeah, been meaning to clean up my contacts and import it all just hate getting caught with my pants down...so are you talking about the my sense framework or just sense in general? Do you think this is worth posting under evils rom since he ported it and would know the ins and outs and to see what he thinks or do I just need to bite the bullet? Thanks again...
why didnt you just do a contact sync with your gmail? thats what i always do. and it loads on every rom i link my gmail to super quick.

I did have it set up but believe that it only pulls contacts to your phone and doesn't push new ones back-correct me of I am wrong-just wouldn't be syncing my contacts to 2 different places if they both did the same thing...and haven't fully set up contacts in google yet other than emails...it is definitely the way to go...
So after a lot of searching on-line, bt syncing with my old phone, etc., etc.,...finally came upon this
http://yincrash.livejournal.com/188605.html
and it worked as far as Name, Home Mobile Phone, Home Phone, Home Email, Work Mobile Phone, Work Phone...just saved as a csv file and imported to my gmail...am now official thanks for the help
I've been using Ubuntu One Mobile as a back up plan. It has a small monthly fee though.

How the heck do I change my windows live ID country?!

Ive had this hotmal account for over 9 years now, and I did not realise it has been set to USA (it was on that by default I think). Everything is linked to this account - my xbox account, my msn, my windows phone account, my zune hd account, my emails, my contacts etc... and its never been a problem.
My problem is when I was trying to buy an item in the Zune marketplace, it wouldn't let me put my credit card in because it can only be from USA, not Australia, which is where I live. Making a new account would absolutely be the worst thing I can think of and is an unacceptable solution from my point of view, this account has too much.
So how do I go about changing the account country from USA to Australia? Any help on this matter will be highly appreciated! Or am I screwed, or is there some workaround I can go with for the time being apart from hard resetting my phone. Would buying xbox live credit points from someone in the usa allow me to do the work around? I presume since I'm with an American account if I can fix that up, I can actually purchase music as well in Australia as well as games?
Thanks!
try http://account.live.com, changing your country
Yes, that's already set to Australia, but the billing account is set to usa. And stuck on.
Have you had your Nodo update? I thought I saw something in the changelist that applied to this?
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
You can't change it. This has always been a point of contention with passport services. Once your billing region is set on account creation it can never be changed again. Ever.
I have the exact same problem, Have had for years now with my xbox. You're only option is to create a new account.
I've contacted Microsoft before about this and you get spun some nonsense about it being "impossible" to change.
No no-do update for my omnia 7 yet.
And if I do have to create a new account, how the heck do I even sign out. If only there was a way to *fake* an American card via paypal or something. You know.. anything.
Unfortunately to remove the "Primary" account you have to factory reset the phone. As far as I know. It's because everything (xbox, zune, market place) is tied to it.
I don't think the country information is encoded in the card number http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card_numbers as credit cards like Visa and MasterCard are not a national card. My guess is they query a central database which has the country of issue. As such I think it's hard if not impossible to fake.
Hello,
Let me suggest you a little trick...
1. Go to support.xbox.com
2. Log in
3. Click on My Account (top right)
4. Right down, the very last option - Manage Account Region
5. There you can change your country to your desired one
I did work for me and I hope it will help you...
Best regards,
Arnie
Did you sort out the problem in some way??? I am interested because I didn't put CC information yet for the marketplace and my main hotmail account is a .com registered in 1998 and i'm in Italy I have another one (.it) but I did it just for paypal
I'm lucky - my Dutch credit card (Master) just worked
