Optical Joystick In Opera - XPERIA X1 General

FIXED!!
Hi
I found out which settings are required to fix this. Basically, edit input.ini, find the following under [browser widget] and change it as shown below:
Change:
Left = navigate left
Right = navigate right
Up = navigate up
Down = navigate down
to:
Left = Scroll left, 1
Right = Scroll right, 1
Up = Scroll up, 10
Down = Scroll down, 10
This must be what my old Voda X1 had as its default. For me, it makes the optical joystick useful again in Opera cause you can scroll around the whole page, rather than being restricted to navigating between links.
Don't forget the huge array of Opera options available on the config page (enter opera:config into the address bar). Most of these are explained here:

Hi
Having sent back my vodafone X1, i now have an HTC X1, and am noting the differences between the two.
On the voda X1, the optical joystick could be used to scroll around a page (without highlighting any links).
On the HTC X1, the optical joystick works more like A 4 way tab button, the page moves, but the links keep getting highlighted.
The highlighting od the linka means that smooth scrolling does not happen.
Anyone know how to make opera behave like it did on the voda X1? i want my smooth scrolling back!
Nigel

My no brand italian X1 works like your "htc" x1.
In IE instead works like "vodafone" x1.

Start > settings > System > Optical Joystick > Allow scrolling iirc

nice hint! thx

Would be nice if it brought up a little mouse... it does this in Opera Mini (probably because Mini is made to have a mouse for all phones using the d-pad).

Hi
All the options under 'optical joystick' in settings are turned on. This does not enable me to pan around the page in opera like I used to be able to with my previous X1 - rather, the optical joystick just moves a highlight between the links on the page.
Previously the links on the page were ignored, and the joystick just moved the page about.
Basically it is now working like a cursor key rather than offering the ability to freely pan about the screen like before.
Must be a registry setting somewhere... either that, or the voda X1 that I had had a newer version of opera installed.
Pain in the arse whatever it is - I had gotten used to using the joystick, now I am back to flicking the screen with the stylus.
Nigel

Hi
Here ia my opera.ini can someone with a voda x1 or an x1 on which the joystick works properly in opera post theirs? you'll find it under application data.

Hi
Thanks for that, unfortunately is it not a setting in that file. I have a suspicion that the setting I want is hiding away in input.ini - would you be able to paste the contents of this file (from a voda X1)?
Cheers
Nigel

I have a HTC X1 (unbranded) and the dpad it works both ways in Opera, though I did not really figure out when it scrolls and when it is in "cursor mode".
One thing is for sure: If there is one link framed (pre-selected), than the dpad works in cursor mode, if you tab on an area without any link then the dpad works in scroll mode - sometimes.
It's really a litte bit weired.

Wanted input.ini from Vodafone X1
Hi
Can someone post the contents of their input.ini file from a (UK) Vodafone X1
Application Data\Opera9\input.ini
Pretty Please?!
Nigel

Sorted!
Worked out how to do this, see updated post on first page
Nigel

Hi bro.
With your settings works, but also normal pad works with scroll. So no metod for select links as it is.

Indeed
I cant remember if on my vodafone, the d-pad still moved the cursor around the links or not. To be honest, I tend to tap the links.
Something is still different from my voda - on that, I could pan to the right hand side of the screen, and then scroll down, while keeping to the right hand side. With what I posted, the screen view moved back towards the left as you panned down.
If I could persuade someone with a (UK) vodafone Xperia to post their input.ini file it would save me guessing!

Has the same problem, which keeps moving to left whenever moving up or down. So weird...

Thanks a lot for the tip on modifying the .ini file to make the optical pad navigate through the entire webpage rather than through the links. Makes the browsing experience a lot more pleasent. Now if only the would implement the formatting of text depending on how far in we zoom into the webpage like the Touch Pro...

Hi artesea
Cheers for posting that - its the same as in mine so it looks like the scrolling about on my old voda was not achieved by mods to input.ini performed by vodafone.
Guess I'll stick with that I have. Are you able to confirm that on your voda, like on my old one, the optical joystick lets you pan freely about the screen (w/o getting caught on links). I.e 'scrolling' rather than 'navigating' in Opera speak?
If so, when you scroll to the right hand side of a zoomed in page and then scroll down, does the view stay on the right, or does it revert back to the left as you scroll down?
Nigel

It's a UK Vodafone branded X1. When in Opera if I use to optical the page moves around in the direction I scroll. There is no panning to the left when moving down the right hand side of the page.
To move between links I can use the 4 way, although sometimes this doesn't work.

How do you open .ini files in X1?
I can't find any Text Editors. How about Word Mobile?

A Call To Lock/Hardware Button Experts

Hello,
Im currently working on a custom control in managed code(vb.net) and have decided to implement it in a lock application as its initial demo. I have written code which catpures the base hardware keys available to windows mobile(1-6) this captures all of the hardware buttons on my wizard except for the Phone Buttons, Volume/Vibrate Button, and power button. im not particularly worried about trapping the power button because i like the tap to standby feature but im up the creek on the phone/volume buttons.
I found the hardware buttons 1-6 in the registry under (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys) but i cant seem to find the other keys anywhere including where this person says they are
http://www.mobipocket.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2367&sid=c3b2c704a729c2d6e5a47d0ee38ecb54
basically from my understanding of what he's saying the keys for these options(at least the phone ones) should have been listed under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\"
I had one key there 112 pointng to my calendar(so that i thought confirmed him) I added a key called 114 with a path to calendar as well. but the button still directs to phone/ so im not sure what's up.
Here's some logic from the hardware button capturing... Any insight into the location of these items would be greatly appreciated
Code:
Dim hk As HardwareKeys = HardwareKeys.ApplicationKey1
Dim i As Integer = 0
While i < 6
Try
Dim hwb As HardwareButton = New HardwareButton
hwb.AssociatedControl = Me
hwb.HardwareKey = hk + i
Catch ex As Exception
Me.Label1.Text &= ex.Message
End Try
i += 1
End While
Dim regkey As RegistryKey =
Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys", True)
Me.Label1.Text = regkey.SubKeyCount
For Each skey As String In regkey.GetSubKeyNames
Me.Label1.Text &= skey.ToString & ","
Next
regkey.Close()
Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can provide

All of those I can catch and react to but i cant seem to find any info for the phone and volume buttons/ Is there a specific api call I can make thats related to button press or catching? Possibly a way of forcing an association to an app only while its running?
Thanks in advance for any help. Ill post the full app here if i can get over this hump

How to change slide Keyboard layout

Hi all,
i got an United Kingdom TyTN, but i installed the Italian official ROM from HTC with wm6.
That's works fine but layout of the slide keyboard doesn't work correctly.
Principal functions are ok, layout is QWERTY.
Only 4 caps doesn't work.
Key S with cap " return me cap -
Key D with cap : return me cap "
Key F with cap - return me cap °
Key C with cap ; return me cap :
What can I do?
Thank you all
now it's all ok, Advanced Configuration Tool was the way
Sorry for bothering
but there isnìt italian layout.... in Advanced Configuration Tool... How can I do?
I'm very sad...!!
Get a registry editing program (Often already included in custom ROM)
Here's a free one : http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
In the registry, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty
Under it, you'll find "Layout", it should have a number as data, such as "197649" or whatever else.
I dont know what your keyboard layout it, but you can try changing the data number to something else.
Here are some numbers that I know of (Only write the NUMBER)
Make sure you enter those values as DECIMAL
DECIMAL NUMBERS
THOSE ARE DECIMAL NUMBERS
NOT HEXADECIMAL
English : 132105
Chinese : 132100
German : 132103
Spanish : 132106
FROM WHAT I COULD MAKE OUT FROM A GENERAL PPC WEBPAGE (Don't hold me responsible if it doesnt work)
I got a few possible values
Italian Standard : 132112
Italian Swiss : 133136
DO NOT SOFT RESET!!!
Soft reset sometimes causes the phone to not SAVE the changes and then your phone reboots with the hold QWERTY settings.
Do this instead
TURN OFF
wait 5 seconds
TURN ON
If you want to find other keyboard values, go to the webpage link below
Example to USE the webpage: Italian Standard
1 - Find : Italian Standard
2 - Look at the LCIDHex value (first column on right side with 4 digits)
3 - Italian Standard : 0410
4 - Add 20 in front of this number ( 20 410 = 20410)
5 - Open MS calculator on your computer (start menu, run, type calc OR Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, Calculator)
6 - In calculator, click on VIEW, then select SCIENTIFIC
7 - In calculator, check mark "HEX" under the white box, left corner, just under "edit"
8 - In calculator, Type in your number ( 20410)
9 - In calculator, check mark "DEC" right next to the "HEX"
10 - In calculator, the white box should where you typed 20410 should have changed to 132112
11 - Type 132112 in the registry value from the top of this thread.
Go do those steps with the code you find in this webpage depending of the country you wish to use.

Fingertouch PRO 2.0 RC-6 Released!

As others suggested (oseven) I've started a new thread for checking your opinion on this release.
To clearify, I am not affiliated with Fingertouchpro.com , but I saw many other keyboards advertised in this forum, that are not so good as this one, so I think it is my responsibility to make people aware of a great product.
Quoting from the product description:
"Fingertouch Professional is by FAR the best keyboard released for the Pocket PC platform. Big, finger friendly keys, fT9 technology, UltraKeyboard technology, predictive keyboard, multiple languages, drag-and-drop configurable keyboard, gestures, skins, magnifier, are just a few to provide an insight into the thought and research that went into developing this program. Entering text on your Pocket PC has never been this fast! "
The new release 2.0.RC-6 offers WM6.1 compatibility. As a note this keyboard also works with TrueVGA modes.
It supports several languages: English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Greek. More languages can be customized by the user.

I'm looking forward to your opinion. I'm planning to do a short comparison between the available keyboards.
There also is a freeware version of FT, see:

Does it address the following issues???????????????????????

Macaby007,
Thank you for introducing us to another keyboard options. I'm constantly on a lookout for better applications, be it the task manager, file manager, or battery gauge. I don't have special allegiance to any of them. It is the same when come to software keyboard.
By now,I'd have tried both Finger Touch and Tengo for a very extensive period without any prejudice against either one,
I would like to offer my view, which happens to differ from yours. I hope you do not take offence that I have a different opinion.
For me, I look at the following issues when choosing my most favoured keyboard and I look at these issues not just for these two keyboards but all future one that come along.
Real VGA compliant
= = = = = = = = = = = = =
This should be the very first criteria for those of us using Tobias' wonderful realVGA utility.
The standard Finger Touch does not support real VGA, but the specially created version for PK ROM does. Tengo supports all threeall along. I would be generous, and consider Finger Touch realVGA compliant on all VGA devices, not just the special version on Athena.
Score Tengo vs FT: 1:1
Key sizes for ABC keys
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
This affects the ease of hitting the key. The larger the hitting area the better it will be to quicklyhit a key without missing it. Large hitting area is good whetherwe use stylus, finger,or thumb.
The Portrait mode Key size of the most likely to be used layout is measured. Size of Tengo Nano layout and layout 1 for Finger Touch are compared.
Tengo Nano key size: 108 square mm
Finger Touch key size: 56.25 square mm
Score Tengo vs FT: 2:1
Distance travelled to go from alpha key to alpha key
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Do you have to swing your stylus from coordinate 1,1 to 10,3? Does your thumb need to stretch to the centre of the keyboard, then very quickl bend unnaturally inward to reach for the z and m keys? Wouldn't it be much better if the thumb is relaxed around the TYGHVB key areas, and not having to travel to the QAZPLM areas?
Score Tengo vs FT: 3:1
The number of keys to choose from
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Typical keyboard has 26 keys to choose from when typing a alphabet character. A keyboard that groups these 26 keys into fewer keys means four things:
1) less choices means quicker choices.
2) less choices means less chances of mistakes
3) less keys means travel distan from key to key is minimised, hence faster typing speed.
4) less grouping also means we have larger hitting area, as mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
Tengo groups the keys into 6 while Finger Touchdoes not group them.
Score Tengo vs FT: 4:1
Direct access to numbers and commonly used punctuation marks
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
It is just more convenient to have these commonly required keys directly accessible.
Both the layout compared does this.
Score Tengo vs FT: 4:1
Screen real estate invaded.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Why do people want real VGA? It's because we value seeing more.
When we use a hardware keyboard, the biggest benefit is it leaves our screen completely available for the applications at all time. Software keyboard takes over some of the previous real estate. While we want large hitting area,we also at the same time want more screen space for the application, especially in landscape mode.
Can this contradiction be solved?
The most ideal keyboard would have a very low height but large hitting areas, yet having direct access to all alphas, numbers, and common punctuations.
Height of Tengo nano: 24mm - you see more
Height of Finger Touch: 37.5mm - you see less
Score Tengo vs FT: 5:1
Completeness of functions
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
The main things that I look for are:
- cut and copy, either using CTRL + XCV or special keys.
Both keyboards have CTRL keys, but Tengo also have special cut/copy/paste keys.
- delete last character or word.
Both keyboards can delete the last character, but Tengo can also delete the last word without needing to first highlight the word.
- Changing CAP for whole word or first character of word just typed.
In Finger Touch, you must decide to cap it BEFORE typing. In Tengo, you can do that, but additionally you can type first, then cap the first character or the entire word AFTER typing - I use this feature very often.
- completeness of symbols: while this may sound obvious and even taken for granted, there are keyboards out there with incomplete symbols. Happy Tapping keyboard does not have £ sign is an example.
Finger Touch has these [email protected]#$%^&*()/<>,.?`-=[]\;' ~_+{}|:"
Tengo has these symbols
@#$%^&()/<>,.?!+':"_ \` *¢ ;=[ ]{ } ~ £ ¥ € ± ^ ®© ™ |º § « » ¿¡ ¶ µ
These characters are in Tengo and not in FT:
'¢ £ ¥ € ± ^ ®© ™ º § « » ¿¡ ¶ µ
Every symbol in FT is also in Tengo.
- support for canned message,or fast keyboard. It would increase productivity a great deal to have phrases such as 'what are you up to' being inserted my choosing from an ordered pre-stored message list. This function is already available in the sms application, but having it as the keyboard function means other applications can benefit from this function too.
Both does this.
- Support for accented words such as café, and the ease of doing it.
Tengo does this. I don't see this function in Finger Touch.
- multi language support.
Tengo supports Danish,Dutch,English,Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.
Finger Touch supports English. I could not find any information on the vendor website that suggest Finger Touch has similar functionality.
That's the list of functions I've listed but you may have others. Please feel free to mention them.
So, contrary to Macaby007's view in posting 1, I give the point on comprehensiveness to Tengo rather than Finger Touch.
Score Tengo vs FT: 6:1
Ease of updating the dictionary
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Like it or not, the standard dictionary will not contain all the words you use.
Tengo lets you add and remove words easily. I can't figure out how this could be done with Finger Touch
I would give Finger Touch the benefit of doubt and consider it capable of this
Score Tengo vs FT: 7:2
In conclusion, I still think Tengo is the best software keyboard between the two.
Cheers.

Dont talk utter **** you lying imbecile.
You have been a member for 11 months and out of 79 posts 78 of them are promoting, advertising your amazing!, unbeatable!, better than any other! keyboard.
by all means advertise or ,promote a (your) product but dont try an take the piss ey m8?
fool
Fex, I'm sure this kind of language is not tolerated here, and may I suggest you get a check for anger control...
As I already said, I only posted about FTPRO were I've seen ads to other keyboards.
You can see that all my posts are following some other keyboard crap (TP).
So if you're talking about advertising, you should discuss with those that started those initial threads.
I did this, because I need to show others that there are better alternatives, not to let themselves fooled by some cheap apps promovated on this forum.

People have, do, and will always make their own decisions. People have posted their comments about TouchPal, and they are just that - comments, not advertisements! This is a forum where discussion of opinion takes place, not advertising..find a billboard or something for that. You're just using this forum as a free way of promoting your keyboard as much as you can, and I for one am sick of it.
You've said your piece, why can't you drop it now?
PS: Don't pick up on Fex's language and then use it yourself.

This should be the very first criteria for those of us using Tobias' wonderful realVGA utility.

FTPRO and also the free version, are both compatible with RealVGA modes, and several DPI values. See this snapshot: http://teksoftco.com/products/fingertouchpro/large/33.jpg

Key sizes for ABC keys

This affects the ease of hitting the key. The larger the hitting area the better it will be to quicklyhit a key without missing it. Large hitting area is good whetherwe use stylus, finger,or thumb.
The Portrait mode Key size of the most likely to be used layout is measured.

Well you can change the keyboard's size, so by doing this you can increase/decrease the size of keys to the desired value. Alternatively one can use the various layouts included (they are 5 in the last version, each layout looks and performs differently so I'd say there are lots of options here)

The keys can be moved wherever you like. You need to go to settings and enable option "Allow dragable keys" in the Layout tab. With this option enabled, you can move the keys arround with a simple drag and drop. The new configuration remains even after a reset. Here is a snapshot showing where this option is located:

The number of keys to choose from
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Typical keyboard has 26 keys to choose from when typing a alphabet character. A keyboard that groups these 26 keys into fewer keys means four things:
1) less choices means quicker choices.
2) less choices means less chances of mistakes
3) less keys means travel distan from key to key is minimised, hence faster typing speed.
4) less grouping also means we have larger hitting area, as mentioned in the preceding paragraph.

The phone layout groups 3/4 characters on a key. The last layout groups 2 chars on a key. So if you disable fT9, you can type quickly using only a few keys. Or you can keep fT9 to type fast, see:

It is just more convenient to have these commonly required keys directly accessible.
Both the layout compared does this.

Here is a nice features: You can drag and drop the keyboard, on the left or right side, to change it's height. Basically you get as much screen space as you like. Or vice versa you can have a full screen keyboard.
There's a tutorial for this here:

Click to collapse
In FTPRO I found all the symbols I needed. Also, regarding special functions, you can do COPY (Control + C), CUT (Control + X), Paste (Control + V), but with FTPRO you can have even more:
- Select All (Control + A ) , I'm using this a lot
- UltraKeyboard. Now this is something not many people know about. Basically it's a macroing function, you can define short words, that can be used as triggers. Eg. typing the default !cap will do a screen capture. Or you can replace short words with phrases, eg: http1 with a web address, by doing so you won't have to remember address or even phone numbers, you can use these triggers to organize them all.

FTPRO supports English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Greek, and not only the accents/ special chars (cyrillic for russian) but also dicitionaries that allow you to use the fT9 in those languages.
Several languages can be customized , but I didn't find instructions on how to do that yet. I believe there should be a tutorial for that. Looking on the installed files, there is a folder called Layout with codes for Unicode characters. I think those can be changed to obtain different layouts.

No anger here m8 just stating that your attempt at denial of affiliation is hardly believable.
As for tolerating my language im sure that others can see your attempt to take the "piss" and the your subsequent denial (that i still believe is full of "****") is worthy of dissing with a few minor curses.

[Request] Programmer to convert this calvin-n-hobbes VBA to run on TP2

I am hoping/asking for someone who is familiar with the ppc code to convert this VBA code. I use it to retrieve the daily calvin and hobbes comic on my desktop, but it would be GREAT if something like this could save an image file on my Touch Pro2!
I've never used mortscript, but I don't think it can do this type of thing.
What I'd like to have happen is a little app on my touch pro2 that I could run that would retrieve the daily calvin comic, and save it in a folder, My Documents/My Pictures/Calvin/
...which in turn I could set as the default folder on the Photo & Video Manila Tab. Presto, I now have a Manila tab that gives me my daily dose of Calvin!
...It could save the image as the same filename time it's run, so as to delete yesterdays image, or it could have options, ...Or something else? I'd be happy for anything that would help this little project!

1. Pressing and holding the menu key brings up google search... it also it toggles the keyboard in the browser, even when a text input box isn't selected... (Jade Eyed Wolf)
2. Certain widgets from Samsung are resizable: Bookmarks, Weather, and S-memo. These are again only seen in galaxy note i guess.. Link2Post (galaxytab1)
Hold the widget until it gets big and the desktop gets small, indicating it's able to be moved. Then let go and it'll drop back down and the resizing lines will appear. Touch and hold the grey triangle on the lower right corner, and drag to resize the widget. (maxh)
3. The new browser in 2.3.6 upgrade has this new brightness option in the settings tab. (galaxytab1)
4. There is the ability to tag your music for easier searching. (galaxytab1)
5. You can also do live recording using the built in FM Radio. (galaxytab1)
6. Long pressing on the status bar then sliding your finger left and right adjusts the screen brightness but only when NOT using auto-brightness. (djowett)
7. Three ways to take a screen shot:
I: Using the S-Pen hold in the button then press on the screen until the shot is taken.

27. S-memo syncs with Google Docs, just go to S-Memo/Menu/Sync. (Galaxytab1)
28. Tips on S-memo sync with Google Docs:
I. Search option in Docs searches the whole of your document and not just the title. So, of you type something in the notes, it is searchable.
II. Title can be entered at the top, however, any text that you enter on the notes becomes the title.
III. S-Memo also has a tag system (Edit Tag) which neatly arranges your memos together, go to S-Memo/Menu/Sort by tag. (Galaxytab1)
IV. If you are syncing with google docs, deleting a memo doesn't delete the memo on google cloud. So any memo you deleted will be back next time you sync unless you login in at docs and delete the memo.
29. In the stock browser if u pinch to zoom out while fully zoomed out it brings up the new and choose window feature. (jamieross)

Crop a photo and paste into another/The cropped image colour scheme will adjust to the new background. Link2Post (galaxytab1)
36. 3rd party launchers don't support widgets from s-memo, s-planner etc (galaxytab1)
37. Here is one more use of the pen:
Install Handwriting Recognition Calculator from Samsung Apps (not in Market). It works most of the time and even if recognition is not good, there is an edit option to reenter the figures. Kinda cool with the pen! Link2Post (galaxytab1)
Tips and tricks that help better use of your Note
1. To read at night, display brightness can be dimmed using the app 'screen filter' at http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.haxor . (Galaxytab1)
2. ezPdf has this 'freehand' annotation, pen can write on the pdf file and saved there itself, visible on any platform as comments within the pdf.
https://market.android.com/details?id=udk.android.reader&hl=en (Galaxytab1)
3. Use this app to get to camcorder directly, bypassing camera.
http://market.android.com/search?q=p...wens.Camcorder (Galaxytab1)
4. You can connect any mouse and keyboard plus any samsung printer to galaxy note just using on-the-go cable. (bdodge1989)
5. It is not something exclusive to galaxy note, butI discovered these Swype keypad shortcuts on my note: (galaxytab1)
I. Swype key to '123' key swipe: edit options
II. Swype key to 'a'key swipe: select all
III. Swype key to 'x', 'c', 'v'key swipe: cut, copy, paste respectively.
IV. Swype key to 'r' or 't' or 'y' key swipe: numeric keyboard. (este548)
6. One of the best features I like on the GNote is the Clipboard,I havn't noticed this in any other Android device.
one can select the text in almost any application and it will be copied to the Clipboard,I have downloaded an App called AndClip from the Market(free),with it I can View, copy,Delete etc. all the texts which are copied to the Clipboard.
Very usefull feature. (hagba)
7. The notification bar is tough to draw on such a large screen with single hand use, which is why I am using this app:
https://market.android.com/details?i...tusbarexpander Place it on swipepad or other launchers or home screen. (galaxytab1)
8. In the Note, you can set your physical buttons to both answer and end calls.
Go to settings-> accessibility-> Call answering and ending and enable these options
9. In S Planner, letting go after a held tap on a date box in Month view, or [the small space under the date]* in Week/3Days/Days view, will bring out S Memo Lite and what you scribble will be saved to the day where you entered it.
10. Just like in contacts, while in messaging, the swiping to the left to send a text (why?) and swiping to the right to call are still functional.

I have seen this clipboard only on galaxy note so far, no other Android device. I guess it is a Samsung addition
Pressing and holding the menu key brings up google search
Also it toggles the keyboard in the browser, even when a text input box isn't selected ^_^
I tried a thread back in nov but some members started saying just read the manual. A thread like this should exist

Certain widgets from Samsung are resizable:
1. Bookmarks
2. Weather
3. s-memo
These are again only seen in galaxy note i guess

Does music player tags in other Android devices? It does so well in galaxy note here.
Also, the radio has a record button (didn't test)
To read at night, display brightness can be dimmed using the app 'screen filter' at http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.haxor

3 way to take screenshot
1. with S pen
2.swype palm over screen

ezPdf has this 'freehand' annotation, pen can write on the pdf file and saved there itself, visible on any platform as comments within the pdf.

Outside of forums, i guess this doesn't find mention anywhere.
There is a toggle for the noise reduction during calls. Press menu after call is connected to invoke the option. Check screenshot.
