EVERY hard or soft reset takes me to bootloader - Mogul, XV6800 General

I'm using VZW's official 6.1 rom.
This problem started two days ago when i changed the text message settings from threaded to classic. Did a soft reset, and got stuck at tri-color bootloader screen.
I am using the titan exit bootloader program to get myself out of it, but I get stuck again on every soft reset.
I was able to successfully re-flash the official rom, so I thought my problem would be fixed... but it turns out soft resets STILL put me in bootloader.
I'm not sure what the problem is. I have no third party programs installed...
Help?

I had something similar happen on my Verizon X6800, I installed Delorme mapping software and it worked and then after the first run it started going to the bootloader (gradient color screen) with only TITA100 showing. The only way I could rebooot was to remove the battery for several hours and then start it up again and it would work for a short period of time but then eventually go back to the bootloader screen with nothing functioning. I managed to get all my personal info off the phone but that was about it. My phone was within warranty and I was able to exchange it through Verizon, but they gave me a load of crap and repeatedly kept saying you cannot load third party software on the phone or it voids the warranty (I said, you're kidding me, that's why you buy this phone is to make it do tricks other phones can't). I had to take it into a Verizon store and have a "tech" look at it before they would process the exchange. The guy kept saying you can't install 3rd party software, eventually he explained it looked like I cooked the ROM trying to modify the ROM. I had no intention of doing that. I think the ROM was faulty not to mention it zapped my 4 gig SD card.

My o2 xda mini s is dead I think :(

Right i need some help, big style.
Had me phone now for nearly a couple of months and it's been fine. Then today it all went wrong. Firstly the phone just did'nt work no signal or anything. Tried everything to fix but nothing seemed to work. So hard reset. Now the phone boots up and goes thru setup etc.. (but no 02 option??) gets to my today screen but when I choose anything i get a msg saying did i want to run unknown program etc.. choose yes/no. I have chosen all the combinations to get it to work but the phone sometimes freezes so i have to soft reset to get going but then I'm back to square one. I've downloaded the backup o2 rom but when i run it i get an error saying it cannot create a folder??? So at the moment i can use the phone sometimes but sometimes it freezes up 9/10 i cant sync with comp.
Before you ask I only have tomtom installed and afew themes, and the xda worked fine before hand.
Any ideas please would be a great help. If not I'll be straight on the phone to o2 to get a replacement.
cheers
screen shot of the error msg i get
screen shot of the error msg i get
Right getting really annoyed now with my phone
managed to get it working again after downloading the o2 rom and re-flashing. Since i started this thread i have re-flashed rom about 3 times!!!! My phone just stops working. No network signal or anything!!! All the problems started after i install wisbar, phones never been the same since. stoped using wisbar and started pocket plus. phone worked fine until i soft reset cus it frooze. when it restarted nothingworked. I'm just about to flash again for the 4th time. Only gonna install tomtom and eten dialer and afew games thats it. I'll install in basic mode but wont delete any o2 files as normally do. If it goes again after this it's going back to o2.
cheers
Well, simply send it back for warranty repair, what's the problem? These things happen, I'm used to that... had to bring my Nokia 6600 back 2 times during warranty year... :?
does it damaged the phone if your constantly re-flashing the rom?
Sorry to keep posting but is there an anti-virus software or something cus i think there must be something on my xda cus even after flashing the phones still not 100%
cheers
Keep in mind, by the way, that flashing your rom with any ROM other than one provided to you by your provider is grounds for voiding your warranty
yeah I know i just thought that may fix whatever problem there is. I think i've just got a dud mini s. Worked fine for a month but now it's gone crazy. I think re-flashing with the o2 rom 5 times and still no joy means the phone will go back.
I'll ring o2 first thing in the morning.
cheers

Cingular 8125 Frozen

I've got a Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) that is stuck on the first splash screen - the one with the Cingular image on the background displaying the IPL/SPL/GSM/OS information (image here)
I've flashed with the "button rom", the "wizard love rom", and tried the method to flash with a different rom to a CID locked device. The "button rom" and "wizard love rom" flashed fine, but it still hangs on that splash screen after the flash. I've reverted back to the "official" HTC rom, and it still does this.
The device is NOT CID/SIM unlocked.
This device is NOT under warranty. (A few months out actually, but it was purchased at full retail price without renewing a contract and Cingular seems unwilling to move on any sort of warranty replacement/repair -- big shock huh?)
Is there any hope?
Take out any sdcard/ mini sdcard in the phone and do a Hard Reset.
Button's and wizard are patched Roms, they can be safely flashed to a CID locked phone just like official rom,but no other custom Rom like wm6 will work or flash to a CID locked phone.
Secondly, when you flash, take out the sdcard,it sometimes creates problem in flashing if it needs formatting, and also close/disable any anti virus or firewall and don't surf the net or run any other program, rather try to close down any programs running at the background.
There is no SD Card in the phone, and the SIM card was out when it was flashed.
There have been so many hard resets done to it that it's not even funny.
All unneeded tasks were killed before performing the flash.
I'll try it again tonight (I left the phone at work to give me something to piddle with) just to make sure there wasn't some sort of fluke.
Does anyone think it would be a good idea to just buy an 8125 that has a broken screen or something and replace the innards of my frozen one with the innards of the one with the broken screen?
It isn't crucial that this phone be fixed - it's more of just something for me to fool around with to see if I can get it working. It was actually given to me for that purpose, but if I can get a cheap PDA phone on the cheap, then I'm all for it (even though I'd have to switch carriers - cause I'm pretty sure it won't work with Verizon.)
[EDIT]
I'm gonna try replacing the motherboard battery (I've successfully taken it apart and put it all back together without breaking more than it already is) and I'll report back once I get that replaced. Perhaps this is the problem?

Clockwork like problems with Services.exe

Recently my HD has developed an annoying little fault. I'v done a search and a few people had this fault but there were no real replys.
After i power on my HD or do a soft reset, within 15 minutes without fail, services.exe will crash. No matter what i do with the phone, even if i switch it on and let it idle.
I'v removed just about every program on the phone and been through HD tweak and no joy...
The crash doesn't seem to affect how the phone runs, i just wanted to see if there was a known solution i'd missed or at least know if i should be worrying about this process crash if it performs a useful function to the phone.
Many thanks guys!
Have you tried hardresetting your phone? To me it seems that you have installed something that runs as a service and that software crashes. Also you may try to remember when the crashes began and uninstall anything that could be responsible for them.

I wanted to try to avoid hard resetting. I have un-installed just about every program on there, certainly anything that could cause this that i can think of.
Ok i just did a hard reset, within 5 minutes of the phone being on services.exe crashed again. This is without the storage card in as well...
I have the same problem on my Orange HTC Touch HD from day one (11/05/09) and so fair been unable to find any info on it in connection to Windows Mobile platform. I am already on my second phone, sim card and I only had the contract two weeks. The phone will not run Orange maps as it refuses to complete install on the 1st start. Wish i never got it now to be honest, but what phone to have instead as I hate the iPhone

From browsing on here there are a few people with this issue with services.exe so we are not alone.
I've just done about 4 hard resets trying differeny suggestions from previous threads and nothing worked. Really annoying as surely since im using stock ROM and even after a hard reset it's doing it, it has to mean there is a glitch with the core software.
As for orange maps... my HD from Orange didn't come with any mapping software i i just downloaded a googlemaps cab.
Are U on an orange ROM??
If so try setting date and time to a month earlier after hard reset at setup - just for testing for a day.. Mostly they (orange) have used some trialware software/extension which is expiring of it's free trial and sending the device to Reset. I know some one who flashed a custom ROM later due to this..

Mmm interesting, I am on a stock 1.19.61.1 WWE (11/25/08) Orange ROM yes. If this is true then i guess it gives me a good excuse to flash a cooked ROM. Been toying with the idea...
I take it after your mate flashed a new ROM the problem disappeared?
Yes, but he was not tied to Orange network..
Some ppl have reported connectivity probs with orange with custom ROM and some have not. Your mileage might vary.
If doesn't work you can always go back to Stock Orange ROM.
BTW I heard this is one of the s'kiest ROM
If you want Orange Maps you can have it free for normal version, just make sure you have a data package and just text:
Orange Maps to 247
I am also with Orange device but it is unlocked. However I flashed the ROM on the first day because it is my second HD after an unfortunate incident involving a set of keys thrown at me in the dark an my first HD in my hand... my point is - you should definitely try a new ROM, however I suggest using USPL and flashing an older cooked ROM (not 1.56 based), so you don't have to update the SPL and make reverting back to stock much easier, should you decide to make use of the warranty, because many people here are complaining about HTC returning their devices because of 'illegal firmware'.

As long as the returning isn't involved with lack of screen or input to the screen (touch pad not working) then you are alright? My personal dread would be flashing the phone have it working great for months then something goes wrong only to find out you cannot revert it then you have no come back at all.
Well - with your screen not working you can still flash a new ROM if you know the procedure. There is no touch input involved in the procedure, so you should be fine with it and you can alway claim that you had to hard reset (the phone after flashing will appear like after hard reset - time/date not set etc.) before returning for repair because of the corporate information stored in it.
Still everyone should be aware that flashing the ROM and/or SPL can void the warranty and decide for themselves.
So what is the deal with returns?
I have Orange care insurance on my contract and in the past with other handsets if i've had a problem i've just sent it off and had a new handset the following day by courrier.
If i was to flash a cooked rom and then have the screen smashed. It would be a replacement under insurance, not warranty so i would still be sent a replacement handset and i guess that would be the end of it ?

Did i brick my leo?

So I installed this rom > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797546 this morning and everything was working fine. Texted, talked, got voicemail, email worked, everything. No problems. Restored my messages/contacts/etc. after I did the flash as well. All this was about 7am.
At 9am, I got a random pop up while trying to read a text and I can't remember exactly what it said, but was something to the effect of "blah blah blah could'nt be opened and will now be closed". But when I clicked ok, it was flicker once really fast and still be there. So I pressed the windows key and went to open task manager and another pop up appeared and said the same about task manager. So I went to restart it (pressing and holding the end key and selecting appropriate action) and it just went black. Went to turn it back on and nothing. I plug it into a charger or computer and nothing, at all. No lights, nothing. Removed battery, nothing. Only hint of fate I got was when i removed the memory card, and sim card, and tried again, it continuously vibrated, but still nothing on the screen or any lights, just vibration. Is this a brick? I can't even get into the bootloader, so can't reflash another rom.... Help?
It's hard to try and guess what the problem that you are encountering is. My 1st question would be if which version of the HD2 do you own? Is it the Tmobile version or the international version. There are roms that are specific to each device and it's crucial to know which one you are installing. Based on your signature, it seems like you may be on a CDMA network whereas Tmobile is GSM. But that doesn't quite explain why you were able to text and call for sometime before the crash. I suggest you retrace your steps following the flash guide found here--->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614 Specially if this is your first flash. Try to provide some more information, (HSPL used, rom you were running before, etc...) So that we can help you better.
Best of luck.
Using tmobile hd2, thats why I posted in the tmo section.
Disregard my siggy, no longer even own that phone. This is probably my 10th+ flash on this phone alone, and I didn't do anything differently when I flashed this time around. I don't even look for roms in the non-tmo forum. Been on tmobile for about 5 months now using this phone and only this phone. All the roms I have used in the passed were perfectly fine. Last rom I was using before the one that messed up my phone was AthineOS. Also ran fine, just didn't like the battery drainage and the mms pics being super small when I recieved them. Plus didn't like the interface too much.
I think what he meant was if your phone was bought from T-Mobile USA or overseas.
It's not the radio, so the term bricked doesn't really apply. It sounds to me like it just kicked the bucket. The good news is if you can't get into bootloader mode tmo/htc will never know you installed hspl. Which means you can call T-Mobile and get it replaced under your insurance. Just make sure you can't get into bootloader to avoid the $100 software change fine.

[Q] Touchscreen locked out permanently

OK, posted a few days ago about this foolishly thinking it was solved. However, here's the problem. My touchscreen is completely unresponsive. This isn't the lag problem, which I've had before, but the phone acts as if it hasn't been touched at all. In other words, the only input accepted comes from the buttons.
This happens when I'm running android. Waiting overnight doesn't help. Pulling the battery doesn't help. I cannot even use the touchscreen in WM when this happens! Moreoever, if I do a hard reset, I still cant use the touchscreen when the setup pages show in WM. The touchscreen is completely gone.
The ONLY thing that has worked (once) to restore function is to pull the battery overnight.
The only pattern to this seems to be that it happens when I have a message waiting while running android (no, not every time). The screen will be locked, and I can't get the lockscreen to clear. Eventually I pull the battery and reboot in windows, same problem. Hard reset, same problem. Last night, had the problem so I landlined in and cleared the voicemails. Then did a hard reset, but the phone during the setup still indicated I had a message (!) and the touchscreen was locked. It is as if the notification was 1) stored in a different memory than the phone (does the radio keep this information) and 2) that until the phone is reconnected properly it can't clear the notification and won't let me access the touchscreen. Perhaps the overnight battery pull allowed the notification to clear from the phone somehow?
I'm looking for any help on this. Is there an aggressive way to clear notifications? Would a task 29 solve this? Button combo I"m unaware of?
Thanks in advance
yoiur unit may need to be send in for repair. sounds more like a hardware fault. You may be able to get a digitizer from ebay and replace it, though they are a bit tricky to replace. Ive only ever done it on an mda varia and that was a paid
This is actually not uncommon... i have a friend who purchased an HD2 and used it for a week or 2 and the touchscreen stopped. You can try and do the task 29 however it didn't help hers... has your phone ever come in contact with static electricity? This seems to be the #1 killer of the touch screen functions with the HD2's... (so far i've seen 4 of them die like this)... i would try task 29... then if that doesn't work call HTC and ask if you can send it in for a repair, most of the time if its repairable, they'll fix it and charge you a fee of usually $100.00... if its not repairable due to faulty hardware, they will send you a new one (usually re manufactured) another option is, if you have tmous take it back to a store and show them... they should be able to swap it out for free if you have insurance on it
I was concerned about hardware, and it may still be the issue, but it seems intermittent, in that sometimes I can get the phone working again for a couple of days. However, this symptom has only come in the last week or so, so it does seem as if something has changed. I'm constantly tweaking my Android setup, but I can't imagine this could have an effect that would go over to WM, especially after a HARD reset...
Possible solution
OK, if you've read the thread above, you know that hard resets didn't seem to solve the problem. However, I just did a hard reset without a sim card installed, hoping to clear whatever notification was stored on the phone. While the touchscreen was still locked without a sim, I re-inserted the sim and did another hard reset and it worked! Time will tell if this is a real solution. Luckily, my android system is just on the sd card and easily booted up or I would spend all my time rebuilding my phone!
Again, does anyone know if this might be related to the radio rom? I've tried a couple radios since this started 2.14 and 2.15.
OK, one more update. I notice now that when I long-press the hangup key, to get the context menu for such items as shut down or turn radio off, the touchscreen becomes inactive. Several minutes later it seems to come back, but my conclusion is that the connection to the touchscreen must be near or under that button and I'm affecting an intermittent connection.
This is the last post I have on the issue because I got a refurbished phone sporting ROM 3.14 and Radio 2.15 less than 24 hours after asking TMOUS to replace my phone. Now I have to clean the custom rom off the old phone and send it back, so I'll never know for sure if it was software or hardware, unless the problem recurs on the new (refurbed) phone. However, the symptom above with the long press hangup does NOT happen so it seems that was the issue.
