what rom are u using??? uk o2 rom. i actually have a back up copy of o2 panel content but not in cab form if u using o2 rom u can simply put it back if not u need to edit registry to work with it

I'm not using an O2 branded X1i. Mine is a sim-free generic firmware version. but since I'm on O2 I would like the option of accessing their panel. Does anyone have a version I can install on a sim-free X1i?

why would u want this panel? i want to get rid of it lol

hi, i have a sim free handset but am on o2 uk. what is on the o2 panel?

Removing the O2 Panel
Installing Total Commander
* Search on google for "Total Commander"
* Download the PocketPC version for ARM processors
* Download the .cab file to your desktop
* Connect your X1 and sync it so it appears in my computer
* Drag the .cab file onto your phone
* On your X1, navigate to the folder where the .cab is located
* Click on it and install it
Unlocking the O2 panel
* On your X1 go to Start > Programs > Total Commander
* In Total Commander navigate to:
* \\plugins directory\registry\HKLM\Software\SonyEricsson\PanelManager\Panels\o2Panel
* Open the file called "Locked". The value in here should be set to 1. Change this value to 0
* Close the program
Changing your O2 panel
* Press the panel button your your X1
* Click on the bottom right hand button. It should look like a spanner with panels behind it
* Then click on the briefcase on the O2 panel
* Chose your new panel and accept

So no one has it available for install, just how to uninstall?

Thanks, worked a treat!

hey, this is the O2 Panel cab from R1 O2 UK

Screen Rotation for Dummies (SRS)

Hi,
This is seems to be the last version of our magic tool - Screen Rotation Service (or SRS). It includes Second Edition's Today Theme (menu & today scrollers support in landscape) and feature to automatically resize your today screen for Landscape Theme!
(Download it here: setup.armv4.exe)
During installation you will need to answer "Yes" to this message:
Code:
The file"\Windows\ace_ddi.dll" is hidden, read-only, or a system file. Would you like to replace the existing file?
After installation you need to go to: [Start menu] - [Settings] - [Today] and select "WMSE" theme from the list
And one more, minimize (X) your programs before switching
Thanx to abc and everyone here!
Re: SRS HE = Halloween Edition
Feel free to post your feedback/questions on this version of SRS to this thread
More recommendations that i remember about SRS:
1) Do not soft-reset your device when in landscape-mode
2) Minimize (X) your programs when switching between different modes
To install SRS-HE:
1] Download SRS-HE to your PC
2] Run it to get "setup.armv4.cab"
3] Copy this file to your PDA
4] Tap on it to install SRS-HE
5] Soft-reset your device
6] Go to [Start Menu] -> [Settings] -> [Today]
7] Select "Wmse" Theme from the list
8] Use [Start Menu]->[Settings]->[SRS] to switch the modes

No it is installable on any Himalaya device with any combinations of ROM, radio and ExtROMs
If it doesn't run at your specific system, you can always uninstall it without any damage. It really worth to try!
Yeah, I have ROM 1.60 (latest O2 UK rom) and it didn't work very well at all. Half the OS had problems, including the camera (even v2.5), the Today screen and many of the Control Panel applets.
I've seen reports on this site of people having fewer problems with ROM 1.66, but I don't think anybody has claimed that they've got it working with ROM 1.60 without problems.
Still, I'm hoping O2 UK are going to release 1.72 tomorrow!

Where did you get such ROM version? And why you are not moving to 1.72? It doesn't really matter who the supplier of the ExtRom is (imate, qtec, tmob...) it is a matter of OS rom content. So, just update your device and receive a set of 1.72 advantages (faster BT binding, greater performance, no good CT and so on)

No updates so far...
Everything seems to work fine...
But now it's very important to have phone app, calc app, WMP and cam app setted to run in landscape mode.

I got the update from my service provider: O2 in the UK. It's the latest version available, at the moment. I don't need all the hassle of messing about with ROMs from other countries and providers. I'll wait until the next ROM is released by O2 for me. (Tomorrow.)

I have a sugestion for all of ya, I have SRS instaled on my mda II, and I like it, but don't ever set an alarm in landscape mode, my MDA was playing the stupid melody for quite a long before it stoped.
The reason is that there were no snoose an dismiss button.
Even a soft-reset won't help.
Maybe the action button, but mine stoped by itself.

WM5 dialpad and smart dialler

I've got an XDA Mini, but installed using the corporate install - no O2 rubbish.
I used the registry hack to change the dialpad back to the original WM5 one, but now the smartdialler thing won't work. I've changed back to the O2 one and it works again.
Any suggestions to get smartdialler working with the WM5 dialpad?
Cheers.
The extended Rom contains additional configuration and registry settings as a CAB. I reset mine without the O2 stuff then ran Smartdialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB from the extended rom directory. Restart the device after that and you've got the smart dialler back (well thats how it worked for me anyway!).
Does not work. It is possible more in detail?
I think will not work!
I Have a T-Mobile MDA Vario, chnge registry too because don't like T-Mobile Dialer skin, and smartdialer not work anymore... same as bsterngillet.
Now I change ROM to Qtek and work dialer and smartdialer WM5 default... and is much light = speed!

When you say not working, do you mean the .CAB file is not there or that nothing happens when you run it?
If it isn't there I could post my copy to the internet but other than that I am only going on my experiences with UK ROM's I'm afraid! On another thread, user 'Plantagoo' has cleared up what the CAB files do more so it may be that your device does not have the smartdialler program (I'm just guessing here!).
Where to take Smart Dialing for Pocket PC ver. 2.2?

Universal Silver / Black Phone Skin + Carrier's

I made silver phone skin for Universal.
The screenshot shows Japanese, but you will see English if you use English ROM.
Enjoy!!
Jun-03, 2006
Added Black one.
Again, the letters depends on your ROM or mui setting except for "Video".
Jun-08, 2006
I found some people wants carrier's.
You will see them on FTP/Upload/Universal/Phone Skins
You can the following phone skins:
Qtek 9000/i-Mate JasJar/Dopod 900: Qtek_Phone_Skin.cab
O2 Xda Exec: O2_Phone_Skin.cab
T-Mobile MDA Pro: T-Mobile_Phone_Skin.cab
Vodafone v1640: Vodafone_Phone_Skin.cab
Orange SPV M5000: Orange_Phone_Skin.cab
Again, the characters on buttons depand on your mui setting.
Enjoy!!
June-21
Uoloaded carrier's on this thread.
Very nice, but this has to be installed in the main memory to work, thus taking up our precious memory.
very nice , can you pm me how to make it
thanks
cktlcmd:
Yes, this cab file is too big just to change phone skin. It would be possible to use skin files in storage after changing registry.
I recommend cooking your own ROM with your own skin (or mine). (Of course, you cannot use carrier's in this case.
mwang:
There are many *.bmp files used for phone skin. I haven't perfectly found which bmp file is related to each button.
Only with this change, you cannot change "Video" button. The *.dll files (phcanlrc.dll & phcanprc.dll) have resources for "Video" button. You have to change it if you want to change "Video" button.
You will need to change resources of "phcanOverbmp.dll" if necessary.
As for registry, you will find many keys under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]

I have tryed to run one of the files on an Emulator and the Emulator HArd resetted itself. Have you got any idea ??? will that happen with the device also ? PLus does it really mean that you can get rid of the ugly t-mobile phone skin but keep the Video button ??
Churchill:
I've never run these skin files on emulator, but these worked fine on my Qtek-9000. I also can swich skins with these cab files. I have no idea why these skins shut off your emulator.
Regarding "Video" button, these are included in dll files in my cab file. You can modify or replace it to another one. It would be possible to use T-Mobile "Video" button only. (i.e. use Vodafone skin and replace dll to T-Mobile)
P.S. I don't think T-Mobile's is ugly but this is only a taste.
hard reset problem <Emulator
i guess OS on emulator didnt have 3G function.
so relative files of 3G function, such like follows confilict with its owns.
phcanprc.dll
phcanOverbmp.dll
phcanlrc.dll
phcanhtc.dll
phcanrc.dll
anyway, shugo's sikins are for the Phone with 3G,
should not use on Non-3G phone.
You might be right abou that Asukal
Thanx
Best phone skin so far??
I've seen this phone skin...I love it...
And I've used the search function on this site, but can only find it available for smaller screen HTC devices... ie; KJam :x It does not work on the Universal.
I'm no expert, but can someone explain to me how (in idiot's language please) I can recreate this skin for the Universal?
I can use Photoshop easy, so once I figure out how to extract the relevant gif files, I can alter the buttons quite easily....
If someone can explain it to me, I am willing to email / post the results back here...
Here's what the skin looks like...
try spb dialer skin
hi all..
for those who is really bored with the original dialer skin,..
y dont u check the spb software house site..
they give a few free skin (it's made for their spb software actually)..
but the they still give the free dialer skin..
me myself use one of their dialer skin, quite ok though..
dunno if it's works with ur machine, but mine (xda IIs), not a single problem...
eventhough the site said it's not working on wm2003se..
okie...
Which of the 3 looks better?
I placed the *.BMPs into unlocked ExtendedROM

"Wisbar Advance 2", you have to download from Wisbar website.
But you need to download the Theme from the web (done by somebody) it is call Pocket OsX.
http://members.chello.nl/ddelug/skin.htm
Be warn that Wisbar will slowdown the PPC a little bit.
I think the new dial pad from CrossBow Theme looks better.
how on earth do you change the keypad skin on a universal without going to registry all the time i thought its meant to chnage with the theme.
regards
I actually did registry edit almost manually.
First I copy the keypad related registry out into *.REG files. Keep this as a backup and make another copy to do a text edit and modified it manually. Basically the filenames are the same, I put the new skin in the extended rom, so I need only to change the texts "\Windows\" to "\ExtendedRom\Windows\". Afterwhich I copy the new *.REG back into the registry. Soft reset and NEW DIALPAD SKIN.

O2 and Orange settings ?

Hi Guys,
I got my Universal [O2 XDA Exec] today, its a replacement for my old Ipaq H5550. So far i'm very impressed with the PPC side of it. But totally lost with the phone side
One of the things i've already discovered is its not locked to O2, and i've already tested it with my Orange PAYG sim. Which is the reason for this post.
Is there a way to use the O2 settings/servers to daytime [work] use, and the Orange settings/servers for night [playtime] ?
I don't need a one button solution, i don't mind getting a little messy.
if you can extract the cab files for operator settings fro the orange and o2 extended rom and save them as read only on your device you could just run the one you want to use and soft reset.
Hi Midget_1990,
Damn, that was quick.
I'll over to the FTP site and have a play.
Thanks.
OK, had a look in the Ext ROM folders, but theres no clues in their names, and I don't know enough about CAB's to pull them apart.
I did find a thread explaining what the CAB's in the O2 Ext ROM do, and a modified CAB with just the O2 settings, [Thanks Dingo].
Can anyone tell me if someone has made a simular CAB for the Orange settings, or which CAB's in the Orange Ext ROM the settings are in ?
Thanks Guys.

Pocket MSN disabled on p3600 TIM branded!! looking for an hack to fix this

Hi all,
I've a p3600 tim branded and the problem is that if i do an hard reset and let customize the device via the files present in the extended rom, then pocke msn is disabled...if I do a hard reset and then a soft reset to stop customization when it starts, then the pocket msn is enabled.
is there a way to re-enable the pocket msn without this workaround cause i'd like to have the tim customization or at least the others customizations present in the extended rom?
Thank you in advance and excuse me for my bad english.
P.s.1
in the extended rom i have only 3 files .cab and a .txt, but when the customization starts it install more files .cab?!
P.s.2
I know that if i want i can crate a shortcut from \windows\instmsgr.exe to \windows\start menu and enable messenger, but what i need is to enable pocket msn and the today plugin
You can find under /windows the instmsgr.exe program that is ONLY the MSN messenger and not all the Pocket MSN suite.
Create a shortcut under \windows\start menu\ and it's all right!

Hi alexbard,
many thanks for your reply, but look at Ps2 point of my post, I already know what you suggest, my question is how to enable the entire suite of pocket msn with the today plugin....
any news from the board?
[email protected]
You may try Windows Live for WM5, though it is still a beta version, but it has both msn & messenger.
Hi,
Where can we find windows live messenger 2005?
Windows Live works not so well..... especially under wifi.
I found it looking at emu***le, browsing for live_messenger_wm.
No news until the new rom release, htc confirmed a few bugs in the TIM release.
This is the bad cab file!!
Hi there,
I'm playing with some registry entry trying to solve the problem...I'll post any news...
Here attached is the cab file that makes the TIM customizazions and disable Pocket MSN (be carefull to launch it on your non TIM branded device if you dont want to hard reset to re-enable pocket MSN), if someone can examine the cab to understand where this file makes the changes that disable PMSN is welcome, I'm not so smart :-(
The file is not present in the extended rom but in the \windows dir, probably is recalled by another file of the extended rom.
hope this help our needs..

Had a look at that cab file, but there are not registry entries.
Maybe the MSN is disabled in another cab, or it's done from an executable.
I have a TIM branded P3600 and done a hard reset without letting the device install the extra software. Works fine and I don't miss any of the added features from TIM software customization...

Hi vbi,
it's sure that PMSN is disabled by the cab I'have attached before...I made the following:
Hard reset
Reset before customizations starts...PMSN is enabled!! Then...
Under \windows tap on that cab and.... PMSN is disabled so, if there are not registry entry probably PMSN is disabled by an exe present on that cab like you say, also not all but some customizations like Alice mail and the settings for MMS and server exchange are miss..
