Bliss Dialer skin

I've created a dialer skin with windows XP's bliss as the background...
There are two version i've created, one with the less used hold button, one without it (u can still click on that area for hold function).. i think it looks nice, so i've decided to share it .
to install, unzip the files, and copy them to the windows folder, when prompted for overwrite, click yes.. please backup your old dialer skin before installing this one.

I am currently looking for nice background for my next skin.
Anyone having a nice background that suits to be on the dialer page, please post it here ( and also any nice icons for the dial/end button ). I will try to come out with as many skins as possible...

I have added the white stripe to make it a bit shorter than the normal ones so that when we use intellidial, the intellidial dialog do not block the background and make it loook bad...

I use Adobe photoshop to edit the original ones... ( using layers command makes it very easy)

Tired of your ugly Dialer Skin?

I finally got tired of the ugly dialer skin that comes with t-mobile roms. I know there is a cingular one out there and I have found a few other sites with limited skins. Well I thought I would give it a try and make my own Photoshoping part came easy, but I don't really have a clue on creating .cab files at all.
I created a test run skin of the oh so fine, Scarlett Johansen. Please feel free to download and give feedback. I will be creating some more in the future.
Also, if anyone out there is a wiz on creating cab files, any help you could give...
And one last thing... anyone know where to find TRUE windows mobile 5 themes?!

Thanks - is it possible to give screen shots please. WM5 true themes are rare - i've not found a site that does them. Look in 'My today screen' thread in this forum - i've posted a few including one recent.
Use Ben Thon's themegen ce to create true wm5 themes and look at microsoft's guava bubbles.tsk to see how its done properly.

As you are into photo manip, use Pocket Xnview, also has a screen capture facility. http://www.xnviewpocket.org/

A complete theme package
I have found how windows mobile 5 themes are created now after examining some files. therefore I think imma build a total theme package. today theme, dialer skin, and ringtones. If I'm feeling really adventurous, maybe media player skins as well??
so I was thinking a superman theme or starwars, etc.
Any ideas anyone?
I figured it as time I gave some back to the wizard community!

Well put together jess - good job! (not sure my wife will like it though lol!)
btw how did you create the wooden dialer buttons? - i tried to for a wooden dialer i was putting together and just could not get them right. Yours look good might pinch them for my own! lol One comment though - i feel the talk button should be in green not red :wink:

Looks good so far. I have poked around with some of the same stuff you are now. I did it all when I had WM2003SE because that is all that was out then. I found that the OS didn't always want to display the images correctly. and would bounce back to the system default for some of the buttons, mostly when you pushed them down and while you were in a call.
I hope for your sake you can over come the issues I fought then and begin making your own dialer skins.
You also may want to take a look at http://paulya.com/etenskins.htm He has created some skins for the Nice looking E-Ten dialer. It works seamlessly with my 8125 and I loooovvvveeee the way that the skins handle much better than the defaults. I'm pretty sure that the images work very simillarly. Give it a look.

A leopard print skin... sure thing! I am finishing finals so it will be a few days, but hopefully this next week or two I can get a website up for posting theme files.
Post an example jpg of a leopard print if you like.
BTW, still wondering if anyone out there is a savvy cab file creator, Im using a GUI right now that works ok, but for test purposes only and expires soon.

I'm in the process of creating a leopard skin total theme (dialer, smart dialer, today theme, ringtones) for those of you who asked. After that I am gonna have to build a more manly one lol. It will be available shortly ( like I said, finishing finals for summer term! )
Guys, gimme any ideas for a complete theme!
For those of you who enquired about how to do this yourself... keep in mind, im not using some little app that makes this simple, like a theme generator or anything. There are files and registry values associated with the dialer skin and the smart dialer. Just replacing these these will work, but it's difinately better to create a new directory with new files names and then reference them with new registry values. This way if you goof up or wanna change anything back, you can do so without a hard reset.
I started this lil project because I have searched and searched for true mobile 5 themes and dialer skins with little or no luck. I am very glad to see so many interested. I will certainly share the information to anyone that likes, I just wanna make sure you know what you are getting yourself into

Green WM theme?
Hi Jess.
My suggestion for another "complete" theme (Dialer skin, Today themes, etc etc) would of course be an all WM5 Greenish style theme.... I already have the "HTC_default" green today theme, but it seems kind of lame to have the blue background on everything else...
If my wish could be taken under consideration, I'd be a happier man. :lol:

I am working on a few at the moment...
One a leopard print style another windows vista style.
I am however having set backs, since I just installed vista RC1 and am working out some kinks.

is there a patch for the cingular 8525 to make it look like vista? i've seen the skinning stuff, looks to involved ( to many programs ). thanks LuXx

I am running wisbar advanced, and I have a great vista theme that I would be happy to upload, or I can try and find where I originally found it. doesn't take up too many resources, and it has a _ton_ of customization

I have one that I'm using that doesn't require installing another app that hogs up memory. This is a simple Vista "aero" type theme and a nice dialer to match. I'm using them now and I like 'em. I think I might have even gotten them from the forum, or maybe not. Anyhow, enjoy!

Sorry, no screen shots handy right now, but all you have to do with the .tsk file is copy it to your \Windows directory. Then, go ahead and change your theme like you normally would. (Start --> Settings --> Today)

I see from your Avatar that your sporting the new Hermes headset. It's nice 'cos it doesn't require the Bluetooth connection - you just tuck the Hermes inside next to your ear and away you go; and with Wifi on it keeps your ear warm as well. I've heard a rumour that there's a dual core Hermes with twin hand-sets that keeps both ears warm. Bit itchy though??

Oh yes. You hit the nail on the head there. It's almost a full body headset, as you can see. Quite cozy in the winter... and very stylish to boot.

am i the only one who cant get the cab out if the zip file? the tsk is ok, but i get an error trying to extract the cab...

Not sure what the problem is, Zgembo was able to get it extracted and working. Are you just extracting the whole folder onto your desktop (or somewhere) and then moving it over to the phone?

Exactly, simple as cake... Just copy two file to any folder of your phone, and run it... Dialer (bigger .cab file) is just an option, instals as standard application... Skin (.tsk file) is very compact, and just double click it to add it to phone's themes... You can delete these files after installation...

on this one you also loose smart dial... but its a kick a$$ looking dialer skin

Maybe someone with some skills (definitely not me) can put the smart dial and video option into this dialer skin. I think this was originally created for the 8125. Shogunmark... I know you're a pro. Whatcha think?

i can build wizard roms and cabs, etc.. but when it comes to *.tsk and dialer skins, i will admit defeat.. i have tried at those and failed so many times.. its not that i couldnt create them, its that they looked horrible.. i am seriously lacking in artistic skills.. i might look into anyway since i am dying to start cooking roms but the bootloaders on these phones right now is a major roadblock.. we will see what time has in store for me

Anyone know how to fix the AeroMobile.tsk theme to support the Portrait mode? When I slide out my keyboard, the skin should strech but doesn't. I tried to fix it with MS Theme Generator, but no luck... Any suggestions? I'm using Pocket PC 2002 Theme Generator V2, as that seems to be the last release from MS.

Cal-El's Clocks for new Hero style Manila 2.5

Here are some Clock cabs I made for the new Hero style Manila 2.5! One will give you clear flip panels and a blue tinted background with white letters! The other black flip pannels with white letters and a green tinted background! I noticed there are not many mods for the new Manila 2.5 so I wanted to get some started! Enjoy friends!

Hi VETTE, sorry for the late answer...
I'll provide the clock for sure and try to explain for you, it's no big deal.
First I gathered the two cabs, then extract them with WinCE cab manager and then used manila editor to see wich files belonged to wich part of the clock.
So I wanted the blue background (there is a file just for that) and all the rest, black number background and everything else, from the green one. I just copied the files from the green clock and the file for the blue background to windows directory and it's done.
Never forget to disable HTC Sense before doing anything, also make sure the attribute files checked in the properties are "archive", "read only" and "system" before copying them to windows dir. And last but the most important, make backups of the files, we never know what can go wrong.

This is slightly off topic, but how do you get the calendar part under the clock to actually give upcoming appointments instead of saying the word "calendar"? Also, is there a way to add tasks to the home tab?

Update Theme New Blue focus Blue volume, Black Dialer Cab

Everything has been made a comfortable blue. This takes an extraordinary amount of time, since there are manila files, png files, bmp files and dll files that needed to be fixed. I think it is done-please give me some feedback if I have missed anything.
The cab is over 37mb so it is hosted on my web site. It is manila 2.5 2013.

The will lead you to page giving you the option to delete the link so any one can delete it which was happened with the CAB link so change the link immediately.

this looks great and would love to use this but have a few questions..I have tried Mighty (awesome ROM), I have used 7PPC (Dave Morley--very awesome) and now I am using Mr X's latest ROM..I wanted to know first how is this dialer reacting with Mighty ROM as I simply cant get this custom thing right when it comes to the dialer funtionality..I seem to get hung up trying to slide the dialer ( nearly an every day issue and when it occures I cant even answer the call)..I am guessing it could be my custom taskbar--tried to use the purian/tsowen one on the Mighty link as well the CDMA bilbo-mighty taskbar with not much luck as well..I really like the tasbar you have as well but not sure of the process (do you need sdk, nue battery etc or can you just download the cab?)--are you having any issues with this one? sorry for the long note..Your work looks great and figured I would ask..thanks again

I have no issues. And for the dialer I just flipped the pressed and normal dialers. It is a BMP file and just changed the names so that the black dialer is normal. If you want just the dialer I can cab that for you.

Ah this would be so awesome and would complete my blue theme on my phone!!!
But these aren't for Sense 2.1 are they... . I installed the dialer a few days back and the numbers were off-centered so had to uninstall it.

Would you consider an upgrade of your rom. It is easy and sense 2.5 has a lot more to offer.
But if you are sticking with the 2.1-I am sorry because I just deleted the cab I made for 2.1 when I finshed the 2.5 cab-just because it was hosted off XDA and taking up space.
I still have the 2.1 black dialer though. Install and soft reset.

You may be right. I guess the drive to be more iphone like motivates htc. But I like the weather on the home and the program links with finger scrolling. I gave up 2.1 a while ago but I can see why you might want to keep it.
I also upgraded to vista.
