a friend just got this and when it was booting i noticed it said WM 6.1, this was first boot of a new iPaq so no updates etc, straight fromthe factory.
Are all iPaq 900's using 6.1? Is this a new update from HP?
What are the chances that we may see a official 6.1 release fo rthe iPaq 600's?
my bad, did'nt realise this was actually officially annouced by HP, thought they had just started making the change.
Still nothing officail for 600's
912c wm6.1 factory rom
Dump rom and post rapidshare or similar link!

Did you get anywhere? Im looking for advice on upgrading from PocketPC 2002 on my uk O2 XDA.
I found the free upgrade from PPC2002 to Windows Mobile 2003 (AT&T services) on this site, but it updates not only the operating system, but also the radio stack:
http://www.my-siemens.com/MySiemens...2FMC%2FSX56POCKETPCPHONE%2Fdanda_DADS,00.html
Afterward, I wanted to unlock my phone and used the xda-developers special edition ROM. I guess it put the older PPC 2002 back on my XDA, but unlocked my phone AND I have fabulous reception where I had no signal before! Some of the new things from WM2003 are gone BUT I have great reception. The WM2003 nk.nbf file left on my computer is just under 32MB, and that is, I guess, the actual operating system upgrade w/o the radio stack changes the link above gave me. Trying to be brave enough to load it back onto my XDA... as I don't want to lose the fabulous reception I now have.

No such thing called XDA version Windows Mobile 2003 SE.
It doesn’t exist.
Windows Mobile Second Edition? Not until summer/fall.
Microsoft is suppose to launch the second edition of Windows Mobile aka Pocket PC 2003 towards the end of summer/beginnning of autumn. The only device they've announced to support the updated OS is the Motorola MPx200. Until it's release, Windows Mobile is the most recent OS for Wallaby devices.
WIN 2003 SE!
ah ok, so the new Windows 2003 SE has not been released yet!
I have the Microsoft Windows 2003 SE emulator images, but i guess it won't work for any device! I can only use the SE version on emulator, so thats why I was wondering if they've released it on real devices!
so what about the latest ROM version for XDA I??
I have found that 4.01.16 ENG (from http://xda.weblink.net) is the latest Windows 2003 ROM among all the kitchens!
Is there any newer version ??
I also found a ROM called A.30.09 ENG.. What does that mean?? Does this ROM works on XDA I ?
Thank you all
4.01.16 from T-Mobile or 30.09 from AT&T are the latest WM2003 ROMs available for XDA I ... however, A30.09 has a silly sound issue (clipping).
Well, I believe the SE edition has been released. Is there any way for us xda 1 users to get this thingy working on our units?
the SE is released for OEMs only ... it's a matter of time before it's commercially available especially the PE
ThAnKs dude I will install the T-mobile 4.01.16 ENG then..
FYI: I've seen WM2K3SE running on an XDA I device at the MDC last week in use by a MSFT. I was not able to inquire as to it's functionality as I'm sure it isn't optimized yet - much like the beta version I received for my hp iPAQ h2210.
Pity you didnt get a rom dump on an sd card
oh yes, good idea to take an image of the installed ROM on SD card!
I am going crazy searching the net for win2003SE!!!! I can't find any
I just have it on my emulator, its fast & i guess its well optimized more than previous versions!
About a week ago we were all getting excited about the XDA II & SE and all the new product anouncements........ and..... its all gone very quiet....
Does anyone have any updates, a confirmed release date, or screenshots to confirm its going to happen ?
The latest news has O2 not releasing the SE update for XDA II devices. (File under "ways to lose repeat business and word of mouth.")

Yes, but they *are* releasing SE for the XDA IIs and IIi. I doubt it'll be too hard to port the ROM accross, as they're basically the same hardware with a little added WiFi and keyboard.
WM2003SE
No any news!!!!
if manufacturer release rom for WM2003SE, it will kill the market of XDA2s & XDA2i models which will roms on WM2003SE.
let's hope WM2003SE for our device!!!.
and now !! FORGET IT about SE !!!!
thanks

Can we cook a ROM for the MDA 2 based on SE?
Hi folks:
I don't need the little keyboard and I don't need Wi-Fi. But I do need the landscape rotation on the fly (Nyditot does not quite do it). Of course, the solution is a ROM cooked with SE as its base.
Can this be done?
Thanks,
Fernando
there is no such thing as people being able to cook with a basic windows ce version
all roms ever installed on our devices have been modified versions of roms released from htc
pocketpc is not like windows where you can install it on different pc's with different hardware
all drivers are hardcoded and all devices must be present and the same
thats the reason you cant install a xda2 rom on a xda1 or a ipaq rom on any of them
and people cant install xda3 on the rest of them
so unless they as in htc (o2 tmobile ...) release 2003SE to xda2 and xda1 then i dont see it happening
I have an XDAII ROM running perfectly on my XDAI
And have every intention of trying to upgrade it to SE when somone takes the ROM off the XDAIII and it shows up in a ROM kitchen.
Yes it may invalidate my warranty and some inbuilt utils are useless(WLAN / photo / bluetooth) on the XDA I - but overall it will be an upgrade to have landscape capability and other inclusions.
Just because it's not an official upgrade does not mean that the smart folks here won't find a way to make it work ( but at your own risk)!!
which version is that ?
1.60? 1.66? 1.72 ?
i've never heard anybody doing that before
are you sure you just dont have a 2003 xda1 rom on your device ?
Good point -
I should have been clearer.
It is ROM version 4.00.05 which I had cooked from a kitchen.
I have recently cooked another ROM with base version 4.01.12!
Will this not work on the XDA1 then?
Please advise as I have not yet installed it.
Do you feel that the WM2003 SE will not be able to be ported to an XDA2 as an upgrade unofficially??
Jayman
yes it will as will all roms made in kitchens
there are no kitchens for xda2 roms because they use the extented rom to store special programs and cant have them cooked the way
xda1 roms can so you can install that rom just like the one you already have
Thanks for clearing that up.
So do you think this community will be able to find a work around to port WM2003SE to the XDA2?
As it will effect my hardware upgrade path decision.
Thanks
Jayman

Is a official release, so i think this link is legal.
Cheers.

Where can I find the new WM2005 build? Does it work on the Typoon?
wm5 will work on the typhoon, it is not worth the upgrade. too many problems if you want to go back to 2003se. I would stick with what you have until you either see a non beta official upgrade or you buy a device with it on there. wm5 has made my life a living hell. i am stuck with it, can not get back to any version of 2003se at all beause i did not back up the old rom correctly. nbftools has been a start of understanding the parts of rom and the upgrade packages but dont upgrade to wm5

I don't see any reason to downgrade from WM5 on the Typhoon. It is at least as stable as WM2K3se but quite faster.

Hey Guys,
I've got an MDA Compact V which I bought from T-Mobile (UK)
I recently learned the the WM 6.5 Rom has been released by HTC for everybody with a Diamond II. Thinking that the Compact V is the same phone with a different body kit I tried to download it but after submitting my phone serial number (required) it said that it is not available for me to download.
Has anybody got a Diamond II serial number that I can use to download the new ROM? It would really help. Thanks!!!
My understanding is, the CompactV is the same phone, but because it is rebadge it is considered a different phone by HTC with reagrds to support.
I beleive we have to wait for the official Tmobile upgrade.
Yeah, even if you get the TD2 Rom, you will not be able to flash it to you MDA Compact V, unless you hard SPL it first.
I just wish T-Mob would hurry up :-(
t-mobile are releasing a rom update for windows mobile 6.5..but dont have as yet a date for when.
what i can tell you is that if you send it for repair then they will put the windows mobile 6.5 rom on it.
but that means been without it for upto 14 days..
but as soon as i know when it will be released i will post it and the download link.
If you HardSPL 1.83 and then download from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581070&page=2
Then you can install the official 6.5 ROM. (Read to the end of the thread first) I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's fine........ apart from hating the Start Menu of course
Cheers
John
PS I just checked and there seems to be a problem with Rapidshare right now but I'm sure it'll back in a minute or two.
