I found way around intial setup screen!! AT&T Users - G1 General

Ok so my unlock code will be in tomorrow evening. I just wanted to know exactly what I need to do to the phone in order for it to work on the AT&T network.
This may also want to be in the wiki or whatever because it is just going to be asked time and time again as more and more non t-mobile users get their hands on the G1.
so what do I need to do? THANKS

i bought my phone yesterday and had it unlocked today... i stuck my at&t sim in, everything worked, 3g came up immediately..

How do you bypassed the Activation Process.

I was about to ask how the hell did 3G pop up, but then I looked at where you are from. I guess over there the 3G signal is different that over here in the US.

i didnt bypass the unlock, i called tmobile and asked for an unlock code.
I'll be travelling to germany for a week tomorrow and then to the states for a month, ill report on the 3g status. In germany ill use telestial and in the US ill use at&t. My dad already has a g1 in the us on at&t and 3g works fine for him in nashville, tn

Doesn't Tmobile use different frequencies for 3g than atnt

There is no way 3G could work on at&t. At&t uses 850mhz and 1900mhz for their 3G and tmobile uses 1700mhz on the G1. So your using it on at&t edge data.

not trying to cause drama but I call BS on this DRIZ guy.
I dont want people to be fed some crap informatino.
I have been with T-Mobile since 1998. Never missed a payment, never been late at that. I got my G1 at $179.99 and when I called tmobile about my unlock code, I was put in like like everyone else. I called saturday morning, my order was put into the system monday morning, and I should get my code some time today.
like I said, not trying to start anything. BUT t-mobile cannot give you a unlcok code for the G1 over the phone, they have to contact HTC for it.

driz has stated that he is out of the US, his method may work in the country he is in, he just makes an assumption (incorrectly) that it will work in the US as well.

but he also made a comment about his father in Tennessee with an unlocked phone woks on AT&T's 3G....Put one and one together and one would think hes in the US
i just want people to know that its not going to be an instant thing. I am still (day 5 now) waiting on my unlock code from T-Mobile and its not like I just signed up with T-mobile last week or anything...

I swore I heard him say his father has an iPhone in Tenn. and 3G works on AT&T... I can't follow anything he is saying. But he seems to call everyone a liar and says we are all idiots in a sense because we don't know what we are talking about.

I have two of mine G1's unlocked from T-mobile on 7th day after i receive them, but i had to wait 24 hours after i put the order for unlock code.
After this i used at&t sim in order to get unlock screen. Phone gets at&t EDGE network not 3G.

you guys are right, i called my dad today and he is only on edge. Apparently 3g works here, and in germany where i just arrived because the 3g freq is 2100 and not 850. In kuwait, roaming with AT&T does get 3g, but also via 2100mhz. So technically speaking, you can get 3g on at&t with a g1
Also, for unlocking with ANY provider in the US. If you send military deployment orders or orders showing you are overseas, you waive any waiting periods for unlocking (including the 14day buyer's remorse) and they usually get it pretty quick for you. I called around 8am time in the states, got an e-mail from tmobile around 4:30pm in the states and got the code around 5pm states time the following day.
Anyway, sorry for the misinformation regarding my dad getting 3g.

All is good, We understand that it is very confusing especially when you are going back and forth and traveling the world. I assume you are in the military and wish you good luck in your tour. Hope you like the new phone... and get insurance LOL

ok so i got these setting from someone over on the Android forums site to use for a new APN for AT&T users:
Name : AT&T WAP
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password(case sensitive) : CINGULAR1
he then told me to leave the rest empty, or at least he did and everything works fine for him. can anyone confirm them and/or add to them? THANKS

I found way around intial setup screen!!
I dont think anyone has figured this out yet. But if you have no access to a T-Mobile SIM card and need to setup your Gmail account but cant. Well here is how.
First I bought my Unlock Code and Inserted my AT&T SIM. It asked for the code and I typed it in.
Then I needed to setup a gmail account to continue but it would not let me cause all the APN settings are setup for T-Mobile not AT&T.
So what you do is where it shows the android and says tap android to continue you hit the Menu button. At the bottom APN Settings will pop up.
You go into it and change the T-Mobile US to the AT&T Settings Which are:
name: AT&T
apn: wap.cingular
proxy blank
port blank
username:[email protected]
password:CINGULAR1
server blank
mmsc: http://mmsc.cingular.com
mms proxy: wireless.cingular.com
mms port: 80
mcc:310
mnc:410
apn type blank
You then back out and setup a new Gmail account and everything will go through just fine and you will end on the main home page. I hope this helps alot of people out cause I was about to go buy a T-Mobile pay as you go kit!!! Let me know if it works for you!!

yeah it worked but i booted into safe mode and then added the at&t apn, seems both methods will work though

The Topic title is deceiving. Needs to be renamed to "HOW do I bypass initial setup screen".
So far the only way is to POP in a working T-Mobile SIM card, enter in your gmail account, then when it goes to the home screen, you can turn off the phone, put in the foreign SIM card, and the unlock screen will come up, enter your unlock code, and you're good to go.

No, apprantly you didnt read my last post. I got past the screen with NO T-Mobile Card. Used AT&T SIM Read my previou post. It tells you how to do it.

T-Mobile SIM Lock

Hi,
I just bought a T-Mobile Pocket PC. It is locked onto T-Mobile and I want to use it on Cingular Wireless for a couple of days till my number is ported to T-Mobile in the next 5-6 days as I have been told.
Any solutions will be most appreciated but please understand it is a brand new unit I have bought after cooking the ROM on the old Siemens SX-56 still lying with me; and I really really don't want to mess this one up. It has Windows Mobile 2003 edition on it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Before trying to unlock it, I would check that Cingular are NOT operating on the 850Mhz band in your area as they are in mine (Atlanta) As the XDA is only tri band, it will not work on Cingular's 850 network. Even if there are roaming options in your area, I have found that the Cingular SIM prevents roaming on 1900Mhz, when a native Cingular 850Mhz band is present.
Thanks for the reply. Yups, u're right but I wanted to use the phone in London and its ok since they have a 900Mhz bank there. Also, I spoke to T-Mobile and they will be sending me the unlocking code in 4-5 days, they are more helpful than Cingular in that way.
Ah, London!, my home town!! You may know this already, but in case not, here goes...
Before you go, make sure that T-Mobile USA have your account set up to make international calls. When you get there, you will have to manually change the band on your phone to pick up the 900Mhz band. Once you do that, the phone will probably connect to either the O2 or the Vodaphone network, as T-Mobile operates only on the 800 band over there.... You will of course be hit for some pretty hefty call charges, as all your calls (even to UK numbers) will be treated as international calls. It took me a couple of trips and a couple of $400 - $500 monthly invoices to get wise to what was going on. Then, once I had the phone unlocked, I switched to using an O2 Pay and Go SIM card whenever I am in the UK, leaving a message on my US TMO voice mail with the UK number if someone wanted to reach me. It saved me a lot of money when I finally figured it out.
Re:
Well my friend you saved me the trouble of figuring it out on myself and of course the huge amounts of un-justified spend dollars!!!
Thanks a bundle! I will take your advice and use the pay-to-go cards instead of my T-Mobile service, and leave the voice mail and I can as it is extract the voicemail from anywhere, unlike the Cingular voicemail which you cannot except just from your phone.
Great! glad to help A couple of other things spring to mind...
When you go into the O2 store to get the 'Pay and Go', see if they can also set you up for international calls. Its about a $3.00 one time activation fee. That way you will be able to dial back to the US with the Pay and Go SIM. Rates are about $1.50c a minute. You may have to phone O2 custmer service to activate it, buts its worth the trouble.
O2 will also give you a top up card that you can use at pretty much any gas, sorry, petrol station to top up your pay and go account. Just give the attendant the top up card, a credit card and tell them how much you want to add to your pay and go account. Its pretty slick!
Also, if you need to pull e-mail down from your US e-mail account, you can always just put the T-Mobile SIM back in and connect via GPRS through O2. I believe that there is a data option available with O2 Pay and Go as what they call one of their "bolt ons", but I never managed to get that done on my last trip. Anyway, have a good trip!!

Thanks a million!

[Q] Focus on T-mobile?

would the samsung focus work on tmobile network if i had the unlock code?
3G and all?
thanks i've searched online and didnt really find anything helpful
if you get the focus unlocked, it will work on tmobile, but you wont get the 3G speeds. Only EDGE, since the focus does not have the required HSPA frequencys used by tmobile.
thanks a lot, thats all i needed to know, Disappointed tho
Reviving this thread. So I have a Samsung Focus unlocked on Tmobile and I cannot get data to work. Any ideas on what could help? i have already added my apn of internet2.voicestream.com
Have you tried epc.tmobile.com
yes I have with no luck but thanks
in the usa depending where you are they either use epc.tmobile.com or wap.voicestream.com might try the network profile app too... i know samsung has addressed this issue and is in the process of fixing it to where when the unit is unlocked the settings from any gsm carrier will work... there is also a homebrew app somewhere that has worked with mixed results too...
ive tried those apns as well. thanks. and i tried the network profile app too any idea where i can get these homebrew apps?
probably in this forum or the wp dev forum here.....

Samsung Focus Unlock Code
I hope this isn't an issue, as I just ordered a Focus to replace my wife's v1 iPhone on T-mobile USA.
Anyone know a good place to get an unlock code?
The one on unlockcellphonecode.com/ is $45.00 which seems really high to me.

Post of the year! When you figure this **** out let the reddit cloud know.
As far as the frequency concerned, AWS spectrum used by T-Mo is 1700 and 2100 MHz.
Sent from my Bionix powered Vibrant
ATT Samsung Focus on Tmobile
To anyoe else thinking about getting a Focus to use on Tmobile USA network....
I can confirm everything is working and this is how I got it to work.
Everything works except obviously 3G because att and tmobile use different frequencies for 3G (until the merger at least) 2G works great though.
First thing you need to do is either get an unlock code from ATT (unlikey) or go to FastGSM.com and for 19.00 you can get your phone sim unlocked, so that your tmobile sim will work.
Now your phone works and my data was working out of the box as well.
However, you will not be able to send or recieve MMS messages.
To fix this, go to the market and clck on Samsung Apps, then install their Network Configuation app. Open the app and change network from ATT to Tmobile USA and now MMS will work perfectly.
Hope this info helps someone else.

WOWWWW I was searching to see if an unlocked ATT Focus with be able to MMS on T-Mobile US network. Thanks for the information.
I have a Focus and called ATT for unlock code. They said the unlock code will be provided after May 8th. So waiting for a month before I can use it on T-Mobile US.
My only concern was whether I would be able to send and receive picture messages. I hope your solution works next month!!

Unlocking using Rebel SIM card II - mixed results :(

New information:
It turns out that my initial enthusiasm was unfounded.
I can confirm that Rebel firmware versions 1.1 and 1.2 produce an "invalid SIM" error. Version 1.3 beta and 1.0 work initially on 2G, but further testing reveals the following problems:
- incoming calls not always received, sometimes they go straight to voicemail
- call display shows "Unknown" for certain out-of-network callers
- phone will be connected to network for several hours, anywhere from 2 to 18, but once it loses signal it can't get back on until you pop out the SIM, put it in another phone WITHOUT the Rebel SIM, make a call, send a text, leave it for 15 minutes, and then try all over again
- based on my limited testing, you can't connect AT ALL to a 3G-only network (that is, Wind and Mobilicity in Canada)... this is consistent with reports about the Rebel SIM on Android devices having issues with 3G and needing to connect on 2G first
I am sorry to anyone who jumped at any purchases as a result of my previous test results. Personally, it is with great disappointment that I'm returning my Venue Pro to Dell.
I can now confirm the only method for SIM unlock of the Dell Venue Pro (locked to T-mobile US): buy the Rebel SIM II. You can use it with your non-Tmobile SIM to send and receive calls, SMS and data! But no MMS
You will need:
Rebel SIM II (http://rebelsimcard.com/virtu/index...s&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=445&Itemid=1)
Rebel Compact Programmer (http://rebelsimcard.com/virtu/index...ategory_id=243&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1)
You may also want to get the SIM cutter, which is just a fancy hole puncher - and if you're getting that, maybe one of the bundled options is best. But I used an exacto-knife to cut a notch in my SIM card.
Buy these and get them shipped to your house. (Mine took exactly one week to arrive from UK to Canada using Royal Mail, but I'm pretty close to a customs point of entry.) DHL and FedEx shipping options will be faster but more expensive.
The Rebel SIM II comes preloaded with firmware v1.2 - you will need to downgrade the firmware to v1 (http://rebelsimcard.com/virtu/images/downloads/rebel-II_v1.cardfm) using the USB compact programmer. Follow the instructions on Rebel SIM's site.
Go to cellular settings and manually select your network - it will take time to find it. Once that is connected, test out the calling and texting with a friend.
Now go back into cellular settings and click Add APN, filling in the data APN address, username and password for your carrier. After that, enable data roaming, and then enable the data connection.
EDIT: if you get booted off the network after a while, try reprogramming the Rebel SIM with firmware beta v1.3 - it worked for me after making one outgoing call and sending one text message
My experience
I'm on Rogers Canada - a network with 850/1900 MHz EDGE, and 850/1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA. Obviously I am stuck on 2G with the Venue Pro, but that's okay for now.
I ordered the above-listed products from Rebel SIM last week. I used an exacto-knife to cut a notch in the plastic end of my SIM card where the Rebel chip sticks up. Then I tried the whole thing with firmware v1.2 which comes pre-programmed on the phone, but I got an "Invalid SIM" message.
I programmed the Rebel SIM with firmware v1, and it has unlocked my Venue Pro. Now I can send/receive calls, texts, and data. I used the APN settings APN: internet.com , username: wapuser1 , password: wap . As soon as I enabled data roaming, a little "E" popped up beside my signal bars. Now I have cellular data. (EDIT: I had to switch the Rebel to beta firmware v1.3 after getting kicked off the network 18 hours later)
I'm not going to bother bugging T-mobile and Dell for an unlock code, like so many others have. Do you know why? Just look at the Dell Streak for AT&T - there are no unlock codes, and only one user (ONE!) was able to get it by talking to a string of different managers and escalating the problem through a lucky combination of people. Dell went on to sell the Streak through other global carriers and those people have been able to get unlock codes... but as far as I can tell, the only solution available for the AT&T-locked Dell Streak is Rebel SIM II. That, plus a mail-in service the same company has just started... basically they've found a way to crack the unlock code over USB.
I predict the same thing will happen with the Venue Pro. The European devices will eventually get unlock codes, either through their carriers or through third-party sites. But those of us who bought the first batch from Dell.com will be stuck with the Rebel SIM... until somebody finds a way to hack the Venue Pro into giving up its own unlock code directly.
Meantime, we can hope that the Euro-made DVP comes with some useful new software bits that we can extract as XAP files and sideload onto our devices... like an Auto Device Config (ADC) and/or MMS settings app. I can live without MMS until then.
Don't get me wrong - I think Dell's behaviour is totally wrong here. But they're a tough nut to crack, and plenty of Dell Streak users have come before us and faced the same disappointments. We're lucky the Rebel SIM works.
I am using a sim hack similar to RebelSim from my previous phone, (Sharp 904sh), and it works fine with Fido sim card. I'm able to make calls and all that on DVP. However, once I put the sim hack on Mobilicity's Sim card, it won't find the network. Under Network Selection, I can manually choose Mobilicity and CDN Roaming, but the Active Network always shows No Network no matter what I do, I am wondering if RebelSim works with Mobilicity Sim, or my Sim hack is not good enough
Thanks a lot dude
I'm ordering my Rebel SIM II right now

I can confirm it works on ATT. For some reason my data isn't working properly, but it might just be my shoddy coverage right now. I will test it in other areas (non-residential) where the signal is better. APN settings are correct.

I have no idea - I'm no psychic and I don't work for Rebel SIM! If you follow all instructions correctly (especially those on YouTube regarding the use of the USB SIM programmer; don't try to reprogram your AT&T SIM card) I don't see how anything bad could happen.
The whole point of the Rebel SIM is that it does absolutely nothing permanent or destructive to your phone or your SIM - it just interferes with the communication between the two of them.
benjaminries: Do you think you'll be able to test your RebelSim with Mobilicity Sim card?
EDGE works on ATT, no 3g obviously due to band differences.

If somebody in Toronto gives me a Mobilicy SIM and lets me cut a hole in the plastic part, sure.
Just to let everyone know: after about 18 hours working with the new Rebel SIM, my phone all of a sudden wouldn't connect to the network. Apparently this is a problem with the STK-based firmware.
So I troubleshooted for a while, and eventually decided to try the v1.3 beta firmware. It works for me - after I make an outgoing call and outgoing text, I can get incoming calls/texts... and data works too.
Go figure.
I've had continued problems with both v1 and v1.3 - and I tried out a Wind SIM card in-store, with utterly disasterous results (no connection). See first post for details.
Sucks to hear that I'll still be keeping mine if anything just for dev purposes and then getting an android phone with WIND if I have to.
No 3G even with Rogers?

There wouldn't be 3G with Rogers because Rogers uses 850/1900 for UMTS/HSPA. I think the underlying issue is that the Rebel SIM can't just jump straight onto a 3G network - it needs to try underlying 2G first.
I've still got a contract with Rogers that is up in December of this year, at which point I'd probably switch to Wind regardless. Dell tried to convince me that T-mobile would give me an unlock code after 90 days of service with them, but... I don't believe it enough to risk it. It is hard to even really get excited about the other WP7 devices... the HD7 is the only other AWS option, and the Samsung Focus seems like the only other half-decent WP7 available in North America.
Well I just got back to Canuckistan with mine, if anything I'm more pissed about the blurry camera/broken autofocus since it's ruined most of my shots while I was down in NYC.
If I didn't need it for dev purposes as well I'd be about as pissed as you are. No dice for me with the unlock code at Tmo for me either, although the staff were quite impressed by it and had never seen one before. Contrary to the many negative store clerk stories towards WP7 I've read elsewhere.
What is this 90 days of service thing, 90 days of a monthly plan? or just after 90 days if you've activated a TMo SIM, because I did do that while I was in NYC. Even my lowly $10 of credit went a lot further than any paygo plan in Canada, espec by Rogers' standards
Yeah it's a sad thing about the other WP7's as well, I'd have gotten a Focus if it was AWS compatible, at least the camera would work
So does the Rebel SIM work that way for all phones? it has to try 2G first? sadly the order for mine has just gone through

I dunno. I was only able to test the WIND SIM in-store with the Rebel loaded up on v1.3 - it may have worked with v1 in one of the 12 STK modes, but even then, the whole thing doesn't inspire much confidence. Even "working" meant that some people's calls to me didn't go through, some of the call display stuff didn't work, and getting booted off the cellular network after 12-18 hours was something I wasn't going to be able to test in-store either. In the end, I'm not willing to keep a phone with such problems.
If I hear of a way to properly unlock the Venue Pro, I will buy it back in a heartbeat. No other phone delivers what I grew to love about the DVP: portrait keyboard, gorilla glass screen, and WP7.
I've had Tmobile unlock 2 phones for me in the past without issue. As others have mentioned all that is required is that the phone remain active for at least 90 days. After the 90 days, they'll unlock the phone for you.
Now who knows if they have access to unlock codes for Dell phones.

Unlock Verizon HTC Trophy?

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone could please help me with an issue I am having with my HTC Trophy (locked for Verizon)
I am looking to unlock it to use with a Trinidadian SIM card for when I return home, but it is prompting me for an unlock code when I put the phone into GSM mode. It says "This SIM card can only be used on specific networks. Contact your customer service center for the unlock code"
On Global Mode it also says locked/PIN required, on CDMA it does not show a carrier but will prompt me over to Verizon customer support to activate the phone (which I do not want to do)
I called Verizon; they won't give me an unlock code and the Unlock-code eBay the sellers I have contacted said it MUST have a 14 digit code; but I only have 13...
I am attaching a photo of the information of my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the inside of the phone, under the battery to see if there is another digit to your IMEI.. it has 14 digits in your photo.. so I don't know why you'd think there was only 13 .. that's the number you need.
I wonder if anyone knows a good service for doing this on Trophy 7 for Verizon. I know mwang has his security unlocked to use his on T-Mobile., I wonder if he used a service?
Verizon will normally provide you with an unlock code if you have service with them, and you tell them you are traveling internationally.
Ah sorry I meant the eBay unlock code sellers told me I would need a 15 digit, not a 14 digit IMEI to unlock this dual CDMA/GSM device. However I found a seller that was able to do it; r.ebay.com/FYDQfX
and now; SUCCESS img: e1205.hizliresim.com/x/f/5tm57.jpg
Also to clarify; what was causing me grief was that by dialing *#06# gives you the MEID, which starts with 'A' and to my knowledge is not used to unlock a dual CDMA/GSM device.
IF you press *#06# you should be getting 17 digits.
You can also check the Settings sections in mobile, that will also show you the IMEI number, or remove battery from the phone, it should be printed on white sticker.
Thanks
Just used an unlock code from the eBay seller mentioned in the above post; worked perfectly! The only issue I'm having now is that I'm only getting Edge wireless. I set it to use 3g and GSM on my HTC Trophy using a Straight Talk sim, but it just connects to the Edge network instead. The APN I'm using is att.mvno
Any suggestions? I know the Verizon Trophy supports HSPA+ 2100MHz
Did you ever get 3g on your phone Fad?
Yeah, try this. Go to the market, HTC.. then download/install "Connection Setup." Run that app and set it to whatever carrier you are using. That should get everything up and running for you.
If you still aren't getting 3G data speeds, check Straight Talk's coverage map and see if 3G is offered in your area. Straight Talk uses AT&T towers in many areas, and I know in my area... 3G is a no go.
Thank you so much for the response!
I did a lot of reading on the HTC Connection Setup app, and it should help those that are using T-mobile or AT&T, however, it does not have a Straight Talk profile, which is the carrier I'm using; apparently it doesn't work with .mvno APNs very well.
However, they have been bombarded with Straight Talk customers asking for support, and it's only a matter of time before they add one, supposedly.
I've spoken with a few other HTC Trophy users and all of them were also able to get their phones unlocked, but they could only get Edge data as well. Hopefully the connection setup app will help them!
Try contacting Stiaght Talk for the apns. They should be able to provide them to you... Then post them here. ;-)
Well, unfortunately the HTC Connection Setup app does not allow you to manually edit the APN. It only allows you to select a preset one and as I said before, they do not have a Straight Talk profile as of now.
The only editing you can do on a Windows Phone without an app, is just the actual APN, Proxy, Port, Username, and Password. You cannot edit the MMS APN settings sadly enough.
The APN settings for Straight Talk are the following:
APN: att.mvno
MMS APN: att.mvno
MMSC: I'll have to edit when I have permission to post an http link
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33:80
Max Size: 600
Leave the rest of the settings blank, this has worked on other smartphones for full data speeds and MMS compatibility.
I have since factory reset my HTC Trophy and tried connecting to Straight Talk and AT&T with data above Edge, this was unsuccessful; a reset will not fix the radio. The only thing I can think of is that when HTC and Verizon pushed the Mango update on the Trophy, it changed the radio since it is suppose to support AT&T's spectrum. I purchased an HTC Titan on eBay and am now using that as my phone; I'm getting full HSPA+ speeds. The only issue with Straight Talk on Windows Phone is the MMS APN settings, I cannot receive picture or video text messages since it cannot be edited.
Hopefully HTC will add a Straight Talk profile, or allow its customers to change the settings Manually within the App.
Good luck to anyone with an unlocked Trophy, I cannot get above edge data or MMS working on Straight Talk.
Oh, you don't need an app! As long as you have Mango or above rom installed, you can edit/add the apn by going to Settings=>Cellular=>add APN button at bottom of screen.
You cannot edit the MMS APN, only the data APN by doing that. As I said, this will enable you to get full data, but you cannot get picture or video text messages until we can fully edit the MMS APN.
Oh, hrm. I wonder if there is a way in the registry? Let me look at the Verizon packages and see if I can find the registry settings. There must be a way.

Okay, I think I might have found a way to make MMS work on Straight Talk using manual editing. You will need a fully unlocked phone with registry edit to do this.
First, download and install Connections setup. Apply AT&T settings (I'm hoping this will give you the full set of values you need to edit).
Now, open up register editor and navigate to: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ShortMsg\MMS\Profiles\ATT
I'm not sure what values to edit to what. If you find the equivalent AT&T settings vs Straight Talk, you should be able to figure it out.
I'm wondering if we can edit Connection Setup similar to how it was edited for Interop unlock for HTC to add additional carriers to the list. The new version of Connection Setup (1.15) seems like it has selection for carriers then 1.14A (the version that worked with Interop) and 1.14B (the secret rerelease that was released after interop unlock). You'd still need an unlocked phone before hand, but it'd be much better then nothing at all.
If I knew anything about making xaps, we could make a xap to apply the settings once we confirm what works.
As for Verizon radios possibly being the issue, if you have an HSPLed phone, I have a radio thread and anyone can try EVERY radio to find one that works (I'd start at the newest and work your way back).
Trophy supports only 2100MHz UMTS. You will never get above Edge speeds anywhere in North America.
I unlocked my HTC Trophy for use with AT&T. Works fine but if using the phone to call someone, it shows up on their caller ID as "Private Number". Have you managed to get it to show the real number? If so, could you email me how you managed to do it? Many thanks.

SIM unlock code
It appears that ebay link in this post is not valid anymore. Can someone recommend me reliable online service for unlocking my verizon SparkW. I am confused a little, because it seems that according to experiences of other people, unlocking phone this way is not successful every time. Is there another way for SIM unlock (except asking verizon for code...)

[Q] Verizon to MetroPCS

I have the phone from a seller on eBay, got it for $250 on an auction.
Everything is working fine, exept the fact that it is unlocked, (the seller said so) so I went to the MetroPCS store to get a sim card for it.
The dude tried to make it work, but the phone only detected an unknown sim card and didnt get service at all. Any way to make the phone work on MetroPCS?

Most likely needs MetroPCS APN settings.
re: verizon to metropcs
hi there,
I have a verizon galaxy note 3 -- factory unlocked.
Yes, you will need metropcs apn settings, although you will be using tmobile's towers (I'm sure you are aware of this)
here it goes:
Name: T-Mobile US
apn: fast.t-mobile.com
mmsc: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Remember to press the menu key (left button next to center button) and press save. For good measure, reboot your phone and you're good to go.
NOTE: Due to the fact that Verizon is, in fact, a CDMA carrier and this a factory unlocked phone, you will receive up to HSDPA+ speeds; no LTE. This is hardware limitation, not software limitation.. I really don't see a huge speed difference though.
Play on. =)
