My vx6800 just started locking up when using SMS . This is after 4 months of flawless operation, now every time I txt someone it locks up the phone I can't get out of sms or do anything until I pull the battery. Any ideas what might be causing this . Nothing has been changed on my phone in 2 months and this just started a week ago.
jsut asking, but have you cleared out your old messages lately? just a thought....
Deleted all but 3 or 4 . I tried that first but it didn't help at all . I start typing a message and after a few words it hangs.
Nobody else have this problem?
It looks like there is a text message that is hung up trying to send or something . I just got a message wanting to know if i wanted try and resend a message from a couple weeks ago, and before I thought I said yes. Any idea where to look for this message to delete it out and see if this solves the problem.

Hi,
I updated my ROM as soon as it came out in January.
I have been using my HTC HD2 on and off over the last two months due to its niggles but thought I would give the phone one more chance.
To my dismay again - I having issues with sending and incoming text messages.
For example
There was about a 3 hour window today where I suspect I was not receiving any text or sending any.
I noticed this because I phoned vodafone to give me an automated SMS message to tell me how many mins I got left. But after 2 attempts and left it for 90 mins, no messages came through.
I also sent out a couple of texts but noticed the delivery reports were shown as not delivered. These were two several different people.
So I thought this must be my phone then.
I switched off my phone and back on again, voila the messages I had sent were delivered 30 secs after my phone was switched back on.
I phoned up Vodafone again to get automated text message - viola the sms came within 5 seconds.
Question
What cause the cessation of incoming and outgoing messages in that 3 hour window? Could an app/update running in the background could have caused this?
Is this a common issue even with the latest official ROM update? Is there a fix?
Please help as this issue along with short battery life is making me thing whether to get rid of phone.
But I also love the other features of the phone - for that reason I want this fundamental feature of sending/receiving SMS message to be resolved.
Thanks -rant over
that sounds just like the original sms problem.
did you use backup software when you upgraded? with the wrong settings, when you restore it can cause problems by writing back some old system files.
could be as easy as a hard reset.
no I did not use any backup software. literally just installed the new ROM and then had to install all my programs manually in again. any ideas? it does seem like the old sms issue as the problem is much less frequent but annoying nonetheless lol.

Sorry to hear all your disappointing references your having with your HD2.
I not long after getting myne when had rom 1.48 and now 1.66 never have had any SMS problems(although a fix was installed by HTC straight away apon purchase)
I then installed a app to disable Sence Sms (sorry cant find where i got it from) being processed by Sence as it created a few limitations i liked in windows sms .
Any way by shifting the total responsibility back to Windows Sms functionality > i have never to today experienced a single problem with stuck sms.
I hope this helps.
but my problem is very intermittent. could a program running in the background cause this issue
I have an O2 HD2 which came with ROM V1.43 i had no issues with sms. I installed the V1.66 ROM...still no issues! It may be something to do with your network? might be worth trying a different networks sim card to prove???
I thought the same but i have no issue with my old phone. strange huH?
So, I've got an annoying issue with my DHD at the moment and am curious to see if anyone else is having it (can't find any threads yet!).
It seem's like when I restart or power-cycle my phone it starts to re-send random SMS messages from either the same day or previous day.
For example, yesterday and today I have had to restart my phone and on both occasions it re-sent SMS to 3 of my contacts. Mind you these messages were sent successfully in the first place... I could understand if it was trying to re-send SMS's which didn't make it through.
Anyone else noticing this issue?
I have experienced this once.
Sent a message on Friday 5th to my wife. On Sat 6th my phone starts lagging horribly so I restart it and on reboot it sends that text to my wife again...rebooted several times after and it didn't send it again though...
I had this issue with my Desire HD, I used the 'transfer data' app to transfer old contacts and sms messages from my blackberry 8900 curve, and a couple of days later when I restarted my phone, it started sending old messages from my new phone, complete with replies!
Turning of the phone stopped it, but then it would do it again when I restarted the phone again.
3 - 400 sms message later, I deleted all old sms message from my phone, and since then it's not done it.
I put it down to the 'transfer data' app, had anyone else used this to transfer old messages?
Nope. I started from scratch with my messages.
Are you seeing your re-sent messages on the conversations?
I only saw a message that was firstly unsuccesfully sent re-sent on reboot one time, nothing else.
For me, it took the original message and moved it further down the conversation thread to when it resent. It was not duplicated.
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but a while back, I was playing around with my Kin Twom, putting in contacts and such, and I got a message, and deleted it straight without looking at it, but when I go to the home screen, it still says I have an unread message, and has been this way for about 2 or 3 weeks now. I haven't been able to find any information on why this happened or how to fix it, and this forum seems to be the best place to find info on Kin dev and such.
If you have any ideas that might fix this (without clearing the data preferably) then I give you my thanks in advance.
Sometimes i get a simular problem: text messages do not load. Ill click a conversation but just see an empty screen when I know i have messages. In this case i reboot the phone and it fixes it
I've rebooted it several times in the past few weeks I've had it, but it still says there is an unread message.
Thats odd
That sucks, man. Have your tried doing a soft reset? I think it requires a button combination but idk what it is since i never needed to do one.
I tried searching but nothing really came up. Sometimes when I recieve a text message my phone soft resets itself immediately and I never get to read the text message, its not in my inbox.
Have asked someone to resend the same message twice now and its been happening.
Any ideas on whats going on here? I got thep hone in december, its never been updated, is it a known problem and is there a fix for it?
Its REALLY winding me up because I need my phone, I work on call and recieve my shifts via text message

try hard reset as it is the only solution,or better find a new ROM and flash it,this should help.
few days ago, i started receving one message a few times, while the person who sends it, just send it once. Two days back, the problem got worse. I can sent messages without a problem, but in every conversation i can receive the first one, i would reply, and insted of a second message, i would receive the first one again. I tryed to rebot, again, i can receive the first message, and then insted of other, the first one would repeat it self, again, again and again. Its not because of my internal memory, i have more then 140M free.
i tryed to find topic with tihs problem, but failed, so im opening this.
And sorry for my bad english, didnt use it for a while now.
