I am selling my Tmob MDA - great condition - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Mods - please do not erase this thread as I noticed before some of the members were interested in buying this phone but no one was selling it.
I am not affiliated with any websites of suspicious nature - I am just selling my own T-Mobile MDA (US Residents only).
My wife got me the new phone for my birthday so you have the chance to get one great T-Mobile MDA. The phone is in very very very good condition. It was never dropped; never abused; does have screen protector from the day one; non damage on the phone screen at all; keyboard is NOT loose at all - when you open it it still "clicks" like on the day one when I first bought it from T-Mobile. I was very gentle with this phone - took very good care of it ...
However it is not brand new - there is one small 1/4" scratch on the top left corner on the back of the phone (I put my keys and the phone in the same pocket and it got scratched). The scratch is not obvious and noticeable unless you look for it. Besides this scratch - you may notice on the picture "T-Mobile" branding almost went away during the 2 year period. There is only "T" - no "-" and "mobile". It was not scratched away and the phone is NOT damaged on this spot.
It is T-Mobile SIM-locked and I believe it CAN be un-locked. I do not know how to do that, so the phone is T-Mobile SIM-locked.
Being SIM-Locked you can guess that the phone is CID locked as well. However, I do not see this as a problem since you will be able to play with it and set this phone up as you wish and the way you like it.
Phone comes with:
- 1x pqi 2GB miniSD card (miniSD card adapter included)
- 1xLeather case (after market clip-on case - paid about 15-20$ excellent quality)
- Manual Guide and Microsoft WM5 CD;
- 1x stylus pen (in MDA)
- 1x Brand New USB Sync cable
- 1x AC/DC Charger
- 1x Brand New Ear-phones (2.5mm)
- 1x used (original) battery that came with MDA; used for two years; still works with no problems;
- 1x Brand NEW battery - if you prefer to have it replaced; and
- FREE 108MBps Desktop PCI WiFi Card (no driver CD included)
Transaction requires PAYPAL account with confirmed address.
I have not completed Hard Reset since device works flawless. The phone is updated with the latest ROM from T-Mobile. There are following programs installed:
- Total Commander;
- Call Firewall;
- HTC Home plug-in;
- HTC Dialer skin;
- Lode Runner 1.0 game;
- Softkey;
- PointUI;
- and some more...
Please contact me on my e-mail address: [email protected] to negotiate the price and to give you my paypal e-mail address if we agree to go with the transaction. Price I would give it up for is $150. This price does not include shipping ($15 - two day priority or $10 regular usps) and insurance ($3). Total would be $165-170.
The item is listed on eBay as well and I will go by first come first serve basis.
Thank You!
PS Mods thank you for your understanding

Is anyone interested?
There has to be someone interested?

and this needs to be moved to the accesories thread.

What is difference btwn Imate Jam & 02 Xda 2 mini in Aus

I doing some research before purchasing a new PDA and am favouring the O2 XDA mini being released thru Optus retail network.
but am javascript:emoticon(':?')
Confused (easily done I hear you say)
What is the difference between an IMate Jam and 02 XDA 2 Mini as offered to the Australian Market?
If there is a difference, would appreciate some feedback about which is better in this market (ie; features, value, support) and why.
I bought the o2 XDA II Mini on eBay (no contract, outright for AU$945) and the only real difference between it and the JAM that I can tell is the SD card in the box. But, the XDA II Mini costs more than the JAM (JAM appeared on ebay a few days after I bought the Mini for AU$889). If I had the choice, I would have bought the JAM because of the lower price (I have 2x 1Gb SD cards, no need for a $60 256Mb), but they are essencially the same device.
I also purchased a Sandisk SD WiFi (Harris Tech AU$130) and am EXTREMELY pleased with it. My last pda (iPAQ h4350) has builtin wifi/bluetooth and this makes up for it. The XDA II Mini is so small the extra SD card is not a bother (would prefer builtin, but no complaints). If you have WiFi, i recommend you get one.
I am very happy with mine, and it runs great on both Telstra (my plan for calls/sms) and on Optus (prepaid for GPRS only). Optus has better signal though, Telstra sucks. What is the plan (the upfront and monthly costs)?
All I can say is GO FOR IT!!!
I forgot to add, the XDA Mini i received had a dead pixel. I managed to get them to replace it for nothing. I am very happy with the service as well as the device.
G'day,
I'm making the same comparison, and these are the differences I've noticed at the respective product websites ( http://myxda.com/product/XdaIImini/template/Product.vm and http://www.imate.com/index.asp?PageAction=DETAILS_JAM )
O2 Mini bundle list mentions 2 stylii plus the 256MB SD card. Otherwise the bundles for each product are the same.
O2 software:
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 standard applications: Pocket Outlook, Pocket Excel, Pocket Word, Pocket Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger, ActiveSync, Windows Media Player, Calculator, Terminal Services Clients, Games (Jawbreaker, Solitraire)
Multimedia Album
Picture Editor
Camera (phone and video capture)
ClearVue PDF and PPT
Integrated MMS
Java MIDlet Manager (J2ME)
Photo Contacts
SIM Manager
Wireless Modem
xBackup
Imate software:
MMS
Photo Contact / Caller Id
Photo album
Camera capture utility
Camcorder
40 chords polyphonic ring tones
Support standard MIDI format 0 and 1
Audio format WMA/AMR/MP3 (AAC optional)
SIM Manager
Wireless Modem
xBackup
Whether these two lists are just different ways of saying exactly the same thing I'm not really sure. Perhaps the O2 software list is just more accurate and better written...
Prices etc and a question
Thanks guys for feedback.
Mitchello - Further to your post. From the Optus shop direct - Business Edge One Plan
Price of the phone is $AUD749.00 paid over the contract period of 24 mths at $AUD31.20 per month on top of any plan taken. ie. BEO 33 access fee $33,
flagfall 18.7c, other calls 30.8c.
On data 0.0055c per kilobyte. - No flagfall.
Hope that helps. The cost of the phone is much cheaper than online prices so I guess they must be making money thru the call charges, but these plans are the same for any phone paid off over the contract period..
But why do you have Telstra and optus accounts, one for calls and one for data. Is the price difference worth the drama of two sim cards ??
I dont trust either of them, but we will see.
The only difference between the O2 and the IMATE models is the bundled software on the device. O2 have some extra software included on the Device then IMATE does, but IMATE seem to have a better support base then O2. IMATE tend to release Updates more frequently then O2. But the O2 does come with the 256MB Card aswell.
I have brought the XDA mini and Imate Jam. The only difference is see is the Jam has some Telstra crap and the leather case is different. The O2 case is better if you want to use it.
Otherwise no difference - Jam is cheaper.
Note I believe the Jam has a brighter screen than my O2 mini if that is possible?
Yep when I purchased my O2 mini the chap in the shop said the only real defference was some of the preloaded software/programs. He said the mini had more stuff pre setup for Oz.
I've had mine for a couple of months and just can't get over the potential this thing has...awesome.
So much to learn which is why finding forums like this has been great.
8) marto
get the imate jam (black), that's with 128Mb internal memory, 64 more than the original version of jam or o2 XDA2 mini. do not get optus bundle, get the phone, and get the $30 recharge with $120 credit.
if you average it out, it's only AUD0.001375 per kbyte (40K SLOT)
That's 87Mb for 30 days since credit expire in 30 days.
or just wait for the O2 atom? but it's not a HTC product...
Arrh just looked at the "atom" specs on the O2 site.... if you can wait, then do so... looks sweet.
Wonder what the price will be?
hmm was hard enough talking the wife into the mini so think the Atom is gonna be out of the question for some time

HELP! Dash or MDA? Pocket Office on Dash? (for editing capabilities) Hack or Downloa

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HELP! Dash or MDA? Pocket Office on Dash? (for editing capabilities) Hack or Download (or Doea the Hermes also work with T-Mobile???)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've talked to everyone when considering choosing between the MDA and the newer Dash?
Is it possible to get a free version of Pocket Office to put on the Dash so I can have the editing option for Microsoft Documents?
MDA or Dash? Which is more versitile, faster, and good for work & networking on the fly?
Does the MDA have WiFi like the Dash? for free wifi connections.
After too many T-Mobile reps, HTC reps, and other users...I'm exhausted with beating around the bush form the simple, and exact answers I'm looking for. You advice and expertise would truly be appreciated. Help! Thanks.
Ryan
Tough call, Ryan... both are great devices in their own rights. However, Dash is Smartphone platform and MDA is Pocket PC platform. Pocket PC is going to give you more functionality and customization. Smartphone is going to give you more convenience and smoother performance (assuming the ROM is stable and current).
Both MDA and Dash have Wi-Fi.
Based on your other questions and desires, I think Pocket PC platform is probably more what you're looking for.
Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback.
I have been leaning towards the MDA, but didn't want to take a step back in technology advantage, given that I'll have this phone for a while and I'll want to get the most from the device. OR Should I go with DASH in hope of getting an app to edit documents? Is there anytihng coming out soon, or where should i go to find out where to get it? Can I use either device with google's new word and excel editting, without being connected to a free wifi?
Are both devices able to use Skype?
The MDA glitches and complaints do worry me about dependability. Do you believe the MDA is stable, and is the HTC Hermes able to be used with T-Mobile?
The phone I have (Nokia 3660) just died (only shows Nokia when booting up, in a continuous loop). Therefore i have just lost 600 numbers which weren't sync to the new laptop i had ot buy because my old one was stolen 2 months ago. If you have any advice on retreaving these numbers let me know.
Also, do you recommend getting the MDA from T-Mobile for $250 or from eBay? or other cell phone sites you recommend for purchases?
Ryan
I am unsure of the Dash's abilities to edit documents. I believe that there are apps out there for the Smartphone platform that allow you to do it.
As far as Skype goes... minimum requirements to run Skype on a mobile device are 400mhz or higher processor and Wifi or 3G network. That pretty much leaves you with Hermes if you are wanting to go the route of the MDA line of devices. Yes the HTC Hermes can be used on T-Mobile.
The only advice I could offer for extracting your contacts from your old phone is to get it to an authorized Nokia repairman and have them get it out. If your phone can go into bootloader mode, you should be able to rescue the data.
I can't recommend one way or the other on where to buy your phone from other than saying that if you don't buy it from T-Mobile, check around on Ebay.
Savior Pete
Thanks again.
I'm glad your active on here today.
So are you saying the Dash is the only T-mobile provided phone that will work with Skype? I don't believe you can buy the Hermes from T-mobile (just the wizard) Unless you know otherwise.
I don't see a tremendous savings on eBay (maybe $50) which leads me to buy from T-mobile simply for the support and warrantees.
I will be checking back frequently. [email protected] if you like Thanks again.
No the Dash will NOT work with Skype, and neither will the MDA II aka Wizard. Sorry, I was thinking before that maybe you were in the UK where the MDA Vario II is available on T-Mobile... that is the Hermes. I think your only choice if you are definitely wanting to run Skype is to get a Hermes, probably off of E-bay. Just make sure you get it unlocked... most of them will be. Do searches for Tytn and Jasjam. The Jasjam will on average run you $100-200 more than the Tytn.

TyTN vs Cingular 8525

Hi I'm new in this field so sorry if I will ask stupid questions
I want to bay Cingular 8525 and use it in Orange (Israel). I want to Know what I have to do to make it happened????
Also what is different between TyTN and 8525? (hardware, software...)
What is better?
I saw in ebay sellers write about 8525 that it has GPS is that right?
A quote from: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/Cingular-8525.htm
"What's different between the Cingular 8525 and the HTC TyTN? The Cingular 8525 is a HERM100 and the TyTN is a HERM200 (there is also a HERM300 variant). The 8525 has a darker finish, slightly different button arrangement around the d-pad and lacks the TyTN's front-facing VGA camera for video calls since Cingular doesn't currently promote that feature. The excellent keyboards on each are identical. Of course, the TyTN lacks any carrier customizations and is unlocked. Cingular hasn't gone overboard customizing the phone's software however, and you'll note their splash screen on boot, the usual bright blue Cingular Today Screen theme, XPress Mail software, MobiTV (added since the 8525 doesn't support Cingular Video) and a shortcut to get TeleNav (a subscription mapping service that requires a separately purchased GPS)."

You should read the whole article.
Also 8525 has one of the buttons reserved for PTT and is not available for remapping .. you need to get Sleuth255's hack for unlocking that ..
Also, whatever Cingular puts in can probably be installed from the 1.35 ExtROM ..
The key differences I wud say are listed well above .. and then how much would it cost .. locked 8525 is around 400$ with 2 yr contract, unlocked TyTN would come around 700$ ..
Glad I found this post!
So, the 8525 is 549.99 [without contract] and the TyTN is ~ 700.00 [unlocked]. I see that the TyTN has a Web camera and the 8525 does not [I also think the TyTN looks nicer]. I have also seen posts about Cingular Video not working [not sure what that is about].
Some questions:
Is it better to play the extra $150.00 for the TyTN? Since the TyTN is unlocked - is it also SuperCID too? While with a little work I believe the 8525 can be unlocked/SuperCID but there also may be issues [I guess pending on the ROM/Radio installed]. I guess also working for buying a TyTN is I rather not give Cingular any $$$, since they never been helpful with my Siemens SX 56/66.
I am guessing this will be a hard question to answer, unless someone has had both.
TyTN is not SuperCID, but it is unlocked allright..
So, last week I dropped my SX66 and broke the screen [damn it to hell] so this week I'll need to buy the Hermes.
Any additional input on why I should get the Cingular [~648 with tax] instead of a HTC TyTN[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][/FONT] [~694 with shipping]?
I'll end of flashing either one once I get the unit....
Why wouldn't you just get one off ebay for 350-400? (for the 8525)
I mean, just asking... I knew in my case that I was going to mod the heck out of it and likely void the warranty... besides I've dealt with Cingular in the past on warranty issues, and the service is slow if they fix the phone at all. Next day there and next day back (on my dime of course) and I never got a phone back in under 2 weeks.
Heh, i got the 8525 off ebay for $350 US (shipping included), arriving tomorrow.
Also, you can do all the unlocking and SuperCID work using free software available in these forums. I would not pay extra for unlock/SuperCID. Check out the Hermes Upgrading forum, the Hermes WM6 Forum and the Hermes Wiki and you will get everything you need to do this all yourself.
Ya, I know all about MOD'ing your phone, it just you are never to sure what you may get on Ebay.
But I'll take a look to see whats currently on the site. Thank you guys for your replies.

X01HT Help needed

Could some nice X01HT owners help answer some questions about the limits of Softbank’s Flat Rate package? (PC Site Direct)
Bought a XDA Exec before and would like to look BEFORE I leap ;-)
Can I use IM with it? (thinking live messager or IM+ )
POP3 Mail is ok?
Is Skype ok with the flat rate?
MMS Mail?
Are any sites blocked?
Using the X01HT has a Bluetooth modem?
What am I looking at for a total bill? – Without calls
( I seem to get lots of different answers from the 2 softbank shop and they didn’t seem to know about the Flat rate package too )
(I see that they have extended the price cut for the package Max 5,700 instead of 9,800)
If any X01HT owners can help me out that would be great. I have been undecided about getting the phone since I cancelled my old Softbank contract and the staff couldn’t seem to answer my question even about pricing
What I`v heard for a Softbank foreing staff is that the 5,700 yen package is for G3 or regular phones and 9,800 for the xo 1HT. Of course in order to check our email WE MUST log on into internet so ....
As for the above mentioned programs
Can I use IM with it? (thinking live messager or IM+ ) YES
POP3 Mail is ok? YES
Is Skype ok with the flat rate? Check the per bite rates one softbank packet is 128 Bites to log on to Skype is maybe 50 kb..? so it is 30 yen only to log on!
MMS Mail? Do not know
Are any sites blocked? Not that I know
Using the X01HT has a Bluetooth modem? Bluetooth
All in all is very good looking device but I will not recomended for the faint of hart or for people who do not like to install unistall sofreset hardreset too buggy and ustable if you ask me.
i`v had experience with ppc foe 5 years (soory guys if is not that much) and never had to hard reset my device more than once a year!
After one month with this ..tytn.. I soft reset it maybe 10 times a day an Hard reset it every 2 days becose I cannot find the right programs configuration YET! It freezes all the time!
There a a lot of users saying this is a great device..I think they are just trying to justify the price the payed!
Another point is that as of January 25 2007 a 2 year contract with softbank will cost you 2980 yen a month (for the device only).
Before that (and thats what I pay) was 690 yen a month.
WHY?
I think they want to discurage people in buying this device since they receive complaints everyday!
Sorry for the not so good review but thats my point of view.
Yes it’s sad to say that most of the Softbank staff doesn’t know what the packages are or the costs for that matter
So Skype is a no-go for flat rate then?
I have a M3100 but it was always stable for me I’m really a PDA junkie just looking for the prefect product so far I have tried Hx4700 /MDA Exec/M3100/Sharp Zauaris
Still using my old Hx4700 and thumbpad with PDA card works great just a little slow
Hoping that someone can find the open access password so I can keep using my MDA exec and X01HT with the same Simm

Looking into getting a Wizard

Right now I have a T-Mobile dash, known as HTC Excalibur. I do llike the phone, however I have had it for three years and I just found out that the USB port on the phone looses contact and makes the phone difficult to charge.
I want to get another HTC smartphone running Windows Mobile, with Querty Keyboard. The phone must be able to sync to ms Outlook, and read/edit ms Word & Excel files. Also the phone MUST run off a SIM card.
I was looking around and I can get HTC Wizard for $140 on ebay. Is the wizard a good phone or should I look elsewhere? I dont want to spend more than $150...
The Wizard seems like a good deal for $140 new... Here is the link to the ebay auction; LINK --> http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-HTC-MDA-UNL...UFI%2BIIUM%2BP%2BUA%2BUCI&otn=11&po=LVI&ps=54
I am also in the same situation, I was offered a Wizard for US$80 2nd hand but in perfect order with no scratches (from a standard fone user, not a gadgt-freak ).
I asked here if it was a good deal, i had to hurry.. so I bought it anyway.
I would buy this phone for sure, I think it is very cheap for a new phone.
oops, wrote that twice.. sorry
