Hi all,
does anyone know how the size of the keys (squares) in the standart WM5 keyboard (that pops up when you use word) can altered ? Somewhere in registry maybe ?
I know there is a bunch of keypad software out there, by either too small, full screen or T9. Doesnt work for me. Just need the key squares slightly bigger and still see most of the doc.
Cheers

they can't be altered with, say, registry hacks because what you see is a bitmap. use an alternate keyboard; there are several software add-on SIP's
Hi I'm a little disappointed with the keyboard on the HD even with Gsen the keys are quite small and I find myself having to use my nails.
I did a little googling and found PCM Keyboard which does what the iPhone does and highlights the key before you press it.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on the HD - I was wondering if anyone has got this to work or found a similar program?
Probably you just need the correct skin, try there http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?14,10615
Try this SPB Full Screen Keyboard.

This works perfectly and increases the keyboard size to fit the whole screen and give iphone like feedback on which key you are hitting - you are a legend!

Has anyone managed to get the Greek layout to work properly. I cannot get Greek letters to show on the keyboard.
@stt57
Can you please post a picture of the HD while writing in landscape with the PCM Keyboard to see what is left of the screen?

Of course it works but you need a WVGA skin

Just wanted to let you know that the new .23 version has a lot more, much nicer features that you can use.
I have also developed a theme for .23 for the HD. It can be found in the blackstone themes subforum, as well as on pocketcm.com
Hi,
I read so many reviews but I still have one important question before I buy this device. I currently have a Kaiser and I am very happy with the Keyboard. However, when I tried the Touch Pro, I was less satisfied with the keyboard compared to the Kaiser. I do not have an Xperia to test. My question is, how does the keyboard compare to the keyboard on the Kaiser? I know the keys are spaced out a bit, but what about the feel and tactile feedback? Does it feel comfortable typing on it?
Thanks for any advice.
Very nice keyboard once you get used to it.
My favorite keyboard so far is Eten M700, then Xperia, then Kaiser tied with hermes.
I hate ipaq 910, ipaq hw6945 and those similar.
ps. eten m700 is a bad phone compared to the others listed, but it's keyboard was great.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think it is better than the Touch Pro?
I have to disagree the comments the Sony has the worst keyboard out of the three phones. I would suggest going into a shop if you can and testing the keyboard first. I found it easier to use the onscreen keyboard from the diamond) than sliding the keyboard out which defeats the object of having a keyboard on the device. It does get easier as you use it more but if you have used a kaiser for so long when you get the x1 you will be disappointed about the keyboard.

I would prefer that SE will comes out a Phone Keypad like the one used in Touch Pro so that you can sms using the normal phone keypad.
I am using the Touch Pro Phone Keypad by default with the Touch Pro Volume Control and it works great!
The main problem with the keypad is that there are no cursor keys, you have to move your hand on to the X Panel or touch the screen. It's a pain at first, but once you get used to it it's fine.
The only other thing is that the back lighting can make the keys difficult to read in some lighting conditions.
It's not as good as the Touch Pro keypad, but the bigger screen made up for it and that's what swung my decision.
I previously owned a HTC Wizard, and I liked the keyboard on it better than the X1's, but I'm still getting used to the feel of the new phone, and I expect this feeling to pass. The keys are smaller than I'm accustomed to, which takes some getting used to. Other than that, I think the keyboard is great.
I used the d-pad on my Wizard at least as much as the directional keys on the keyboard, and often wondered about the redundancy. I think the choice to leave them out was a good one.
The backlight sometimes makes the symbol keys (and numbers) a bit hard to see in dim light (the lighting is very good when it's a bit darker, or bright), but still it's a lot better than in the Wizard.
And this time I have a Scandinavian keyboard layout.
Yay \o/
Having used both the Touch Pro and Xperia, if you're just talking about the feel of the keyboard then my vote goes to the Touch Pro without hesitation. In my opinion the Touch Pro has a better feel, and if autocomplete and autocorrect is important to you, then the Touch Pro is a lot better than the Xperia. Having said that however, I'm typing this message on a Xperia cos I've fallen in love with the screen and optical mouse pad.
Hi All,
I am sure I am not the only one to find that the keyboard SIP on the X1 is too small.
Can anyone recommend a larger keyboard to work in verticle mode ? I am hopping to be able to use my fingers to do the typing instead of pulling the stylus out everytime. Something like the size of the Iphone keyboard or the Samsung Omnia keyboard would be perfect. I also like the short "vibrate" feedback feel when you type. Anyone feeling the same ?

Additionally to the probably not quite legal copy of the HD's keyboard, there'd be also solutions like PCM keyboard (VGA skin required!), TouchPal, SPB Keyboard, and so on...

If you try PCM Keyboard then you must not choose VGA but WVGA skin
FingerKeyboard2. It's amazing and should probably be on every touchscreen phone in the world.

The letters on the diamond keyboard i installed used to be in bold, now they look thin and ugly after a soft reset for some reason, how to change it back?

I agree. Better than the new SE keyboard if you don't use XT9.
I second that. FingerKeyboard is the best by far. Lots of different layout are already available, but it takes you a few minutes to customize it the way you like it.

I am looking for keyboard with normal phone keypad instead of the QWERTY or Full QWERTY keyboard?
Any besides the Touch HD Keyboard and original X1 ROM R3A keyboard?
Any reason this 5-month old thread got ressurrected?
is there anyway to change the keyboard to old/latest WM keyboard (the one with small buttons)?
the default keyboard is too big, taking about 2/3 of the screen @[email protected]
my touch2 came with different keyboard installed, default is the wm6 but I'm able to use this second and it's smaller. search for Sonnysoft InterWrite
