Okay, I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I'm hoping someone can troubleshoot this for me. I feel like it's something really simple and obvious that I'm doing wrong.
I just flashed (well, re-flashed) Just2Clean over the weekend. I was bored and wanted a fresh install of the ROM that has treated me so well since I've had my Wing. No problems with the flash, everything runs fast and great. However, I was going through and reinstalling CABs and I can't get rid of the tabs I don't want in HTC Home.
I'm using HTC Home Plugin 0409 6-tab, which I've never gotten to work with HTC Home Customizer. I feel like in past installs I have added a String to HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCHome or HTCHomePlug that was called TabSetting, and that the value was 1,3,4 (for the three tabs I want). However, no matter what values I put in for that String, all 6 tabs remain. What am I missing? I have tried unloading and reloading HTC Home in Settings/Today, renaming the String to Tabsettings, putting the String in HTCHome AND HTCHomePlug, nothing seems to get rid of the tabs I don't want. Should I try a different version of the HTC Home Plugin maybe? This is the only one I've ever had, and I got the tabs to go away in the past. It's just been so long since my last flash that I can't remember exactly what I did to get rid of them. I know it wasn't HHC though.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome]
"TabSetting"="1,2,3,4,6"
You're doing it right. Are you disabling HTCHome Prior to doing this? Are you softreseting it after or powercycling? (Pressing the power button and not the reset button to save the settings. Reseting doesn't save the settings.)
On a side note, I'm glad to see people still using my ROMs. ^_^
I just tried it both ways, softresetting and powercycling, with HTC Home disabled prior to making the change, and enabling it after the change. Each time I deleted the key and then added it again before each try. All 6 tabs are still there. Grr!
Thanks for your reply, and for your awesome ROMs!

Hi,
New here. I have been learning a lot from everyone here, Thanks!
I seem to have a problem though.... Every Hack so far that I try to implement won't work. Here are 2 examples:
Change Reg Keys for Left Soft button. I want it to point to my Agenda Fussion Calender instead of the Windows calender. So I change the Key to point to the AF exe location, being very careful to leave "" and to type path in precisely. I save the change and soft reset the device to see if it works...NOPE....When I go back into the registry to see what happened, the registry key is changed back to point to the microsoft calender. I have even closed the reg editor and reopend to check the change before the soft reset. Before the re-set my change is still there, but not after....
I have tried both PHMRegedit and TascalRegedit.
I have a US version of the MDA with ROM version# 2.26.10.2 WWE
Next problem I wanted to stop the system tray from showing up. So I removed the shortcut for Init_Tray from the startup menu....Well the tray still shows up. Now looking in the startup menu the shortcut is no longer there, but it still launches the tray!
What Am I doing wrong here? I see people making these same hacks and they work for them.
A little background on me. I have been entrenched in computers since 1983. Doing my share of programming (though nothing since I was kid...). I have been using pocket pcs for the last 2 years. With Toshiba 740's and e800's. So I am capable of doing this stuff. But for some reason I can't get these things to work...
Any help? Sorry for being so long winded
on your registry problem.. after changing the value manually, let the phone sleep or just sit there for a few minutes before soft resetting.. There is a delay write to the registry...
Thanks ShogunMark
I need to be more patient. I did this just before I read your reply...The hack for the soft button is now working the way I want. Now to get rid of the bottom system tray.
Thanks again!!
im not sure if you can exactly get rid of the system try completely in WM5.. however i could be wrong... i think at most you can only get rid of the icons in it.. but it does prove very useful for placing shortcuts..
So, i've tried a whole bunch of them, but none of them works quite the way i want them. What's most important for me is the ability turn on/off WiFi and BT with one click, and device locking, all of that on the home screen. Instead of just piling up links to programs, i'm much more interested in launchers that allow me easy access to settings.
TF3D - don't like it at all.
SPB Mobile shell - i can turn BT and WiFi on/off with two clicks, but device locking is buried somewhere in the menus and it's a pain using it, cause i'm always locking it. Also the problem is that that half of the menus were empty, for instance "Games" menu - nothing inside, even though plenty of games were installed.
PointUI - doesn't have the two most important things, and also doesn't support croatian characters, so all my contacts look screwed up. Aside from that, i like it a lot.
FingerPoint - also missing the key ingredients and is quite buggy.
From what i've tried, i definitely like SPB best, but would love to know if there was a way to get the "lock device" button somewhere on it's first screen and to fix the empty menus.
Oh yeah, another thing - analog clock is a must.
Thanx
why dont you try spb phonesuite. Its Today plugin got everything you want.
(if you using TF3D then you need to host it outside of Today screen with TouchFlo Detacher)
Thanx for the suggestion. Works great. I also found this - Quickmenu. amazing start replacement, has everything i need.
hi everyone im trying to uninstall cookies 1.8.5 due to the menu on the home page not workin at all. it highlights when i press it but nothing happens. i cant edit home layout or wallpapers or chteditor itself. it does work from the windows menu but not the the menu tab located at the bottom right of the screen. i was messing with the home layout personalizing it as ive had it since it came out (1.8.5). i had the previous cookies version before and never had a problem (1.7.1, 1.8.0). ive installed a quite a few apps including notification colors and colors for toggle and switches made by dinik that come in the 1.8.5 version of cookies. dont think theres any issues there as ive had them for a while now. i was going to uninstall cookies and reinstall it as im sure it everything would go back to normal again, but i try to and it say "not all of the program could be deleted do you want to remove from programs list?" i press yes but doesnt even erase it from the installed programs list. im stuck dont want to hard reset unless i really have to any advice? also i uninstalled the toggle and switches colors cab and the icons themselves have dissapeared except for the text under it but they do work when i click on them. i have the tmous hd2 with stock rom 2.10.531. thank for any help
I think this was a bug in 1.8.5, for some ROM's , I think there is an updated version, maybe just install over the top both the CHT and the Editor ...
I am not sure of this but I think I read it somewhere if I see it I will post it ...
this is something else i reinstalled cht on top of it and now seems like cht is completely removed besides the editor? that was kind of weird! im goin to reinstall it one more time to see what happens!!
Hi parmakr,
Have you tryed closing HTC Sense before you uninstall Cookie.
Had a problem removing a previous version of Cookie but closed Sense and then went to remove applications and it removed ok. Then just restarted Sense and everything was ok.
Hope this helps.
thanks guys for your help. what i did was reinstalled over the existing cookies 1.8.5 that was already there. i restarted the phone and all of cht was completely removed, how, i have no idea! so i installed it a second time and now everything is the way it should. sounds odd but whatever works i guess. so anyone that cant uninstall cht using the remove programs feature just install cht over the existing one and it should remove it completely, atleast for me it did! install it a second time and you should have it working fine. or take "rutster" advice wich seems the more reasonable way of doing it. would of tried that first but couldnt wait for people to post their advice! thanks though as i will try that next time i have an issue like this one!
Glad
Hey

I have the same problem...

Hi somebody
I have more or less the same problem: can't remove cookies home tab 1.85 from my HTC Pro 2, 6.5 device. I've read all the posts but nothing is exact the same.
I'have installed CHT 1.85 but it didn't work at all, later I tried to install CHT 2.00, the installation was not succesful because Pro 2 tries to remove CHT 1.85 first which appeared to be impossible. (Senze of, erarse RAM fully). Looks like system got froozen while undeleting. Please help because CHT looks great and very useful. Thanks
A very happy HD2 - running CHT with one "app screen" might makes yours faster too
As some of you know, I've had my HD2 3-4 weeks - and I've had my fair share of bugs, issues, etc. After being unable to fix my latest issues last week, I did a factory reset (on Thursday night) and spent an hour or so setting it up to the spec I wanted.
Since then, I've had no issues with speed or lag whatsoever. IMO this is down to me running CHT 1.8.5.1 with only one screen of apps (5x5), not two or three. Maybe only Cookie knows how much impact this might (or might not have) on your average phone, but for me it's made the whole thing as it should be. Previous to this, I was running 1.8.5.1 with two and three screens, and also the same with 1.7. But I had too many issues.
So I thought I'd publish here in case anyone (with CHT) is also getting fed up with these issues and wants to give this a try.
There's nothing else on the phone I'm running or doing differently.
BTW, I still have a couple of bugs:
1) On reboot (Sense restart etc) I get this error just after Today screen appears:
An unexpected error has occurred in CHT_Wall.exe ... select Quit and the restarted ... blah blah"
Haven't found a fix yet, but will keeping looking.
2) I can't stop the weather animations even though I've disabled it in B2BTweaks.
Not the end of the world though ...
CHT Wallpaer.exe error
> Press Menu>Select Wallpaper>Choose one of the wallpaper under Potrait
>Restart Sense which you must Edit in your Quicklink.
The Bug will occasionally be there once you unlock your phone unless the Cookie creator can fix it.
Try Soft Restart if still not working. This will help to generate the ability to move your finger to always touch your Htc Hd2..cheers!

Don't bother with BSB, it just doesn't work. Use CHT, there is a menu within John Molyneuxs CHTEditor to display switches on the home screen put one down, and use that.

Hello,
I'm not sure what is the best forum for this question, but I'll try here. I have the T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 (latest stock ROM), but I'm sure this would be applicable to all HD2s.
In fact it would be applicable probably to any phones using the HTC Sense UI, which I believe is used on many phones, both WM and Android. (And that is related to something called Manila, I don't exactly understand the relationship of the two.) In any case, I don't see a forum specifically devoted to Sense or Manila (let me know if there is one), so I'll put it in the HD2 forum.
I should mention that I use Co0kie's Home Tab, and CHT Editor, in case that is relevant.
It is a minor problem, but it is bugging me, since I can't figure it out.
I changed the icon for an app shortcut, using the icon changer app CSMI, to an icon I from one of several icon sets I downloaded here at XDA.
It worked. Both in the start menu, and in the Quick Link, I saw the new icon.
Later though, I tried to change the icon for that app to a different one from those collections, also using CSMI. Seemed to work. The Start Menu now shows the icon that I just changed to.
But the Quick Link on my home screen still shows the first icon I changed to, not the recent change.
I deleted the Quick Link, and re-created it, still the first icon, not the new one. I rebooted the phone, still the first icon I had set with CSMI, not the new one. (Again though, the new one shows in the Start Menu, but the Quick Link always shows the first one.)
Next, I even moved the icon file of the first icon (the one that sticks on the QL) to a different location, thinking the system won't find it, and perhaps use the new one I set.
Even after rebooting again, deleting the Quick Link and recreating it, it sticks with the old (first one set with CSMI) icon, which now is not even in its original location, while the Start Menu still shows the new one.
What is going on???? Very strange behavior. This has vexed me for hours now. (I really shouldn't be wasting my time on it, but I'm determined to figure it out.)
Does Sense (Manila) have its own Icon cache somewhere (for use in Quick Links), which somehow is very stubborn in sticking with the previous icon for that app in its Quick Links, and not reading the new one?
If so, is there a way to reset it, rebuild it, so it will see the current Start Menu icons?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I know that jwmd icon changer has a sense icon cache clearance option. I'm not sure about the app you are using.
Go with file explorer or Total Commander on your HD2 to Application Data/ HTC/ ProgLauncher and delete the bmg file of your program. After a restart of the HD2 you will have got the new pic.
Also you can delete all files inside this folder and refresh all pictures. Don´t worry...nothing will be deleted, the folder reloads the actual designs of your program starters after reset.
I would advise switching to jwmd icon changer, then you can clear the ca cache from within the app as soon as you change the icons....

This IS the solution.
