I'll have a play and see - I've got WaterLevel installed which gives an indication of brightness on the sensor, and I've got a Sekonic lightmeter which i can use to compare the two.
I suspect that the TD's meter is nowhere near accurate enough over the whole spectrum...

Let us know the results, would be interesting.

The water level light meter is what inspired me to ask. It seems fairly consistent, but have no real way to see if it's accurate.
If it is a light meter application that also included stuff like DOF calculators etc... would be slick.

I bought the one that WvanWaas had linked. It workes great on my Onmia i910 thanks guys

Light Meter Accuracy for Diamond
There is an app - Water Level - that I use that is reasonably accurate at measuring lumens, but very directional using the small front camera - but it works well enough for OHSE evaluations. Whether its good enough for photographic use I don't know - and then you still have to develop the translation from lumens to ISO's f-stops etc

I am writing one.
The app is called Light Meter, Vesion 1.01a is currently available on the market.

Full Screen signal strength monitor

Hi All,
I'm looking to find out if T Mobile can provide at least as good signal quality as my existing Orange network.
However when i'm driving constantly looking at the tiny icon on the top of the screen is'nt really practical.
So,
What i'm looking for is some kind of small application that can run fullscreen or almost that enlarges the signal bars so I can see the strength at a glance.
Cheers in advance for any help
Shaun
Try a custom phonealarm skin.

Hi
Thanks, but the display is too small.
What i'm looking for is something I can run or put as a tab inside SBSH Pocketbreeze, that shows a nice BIG monitor or percentage even.
Just so at a quick glance the signal strength is close if not full screen on the display not the tiny thing stuck in the taskbar along the top
Hudson Phonedashboard will give you a percentage (but not in big writing). I don't think it is officially WM5 compatible but I've definately had it on my Exec and it didn't cause any problems.

Shaunfarris: clearly the strength meter in my skin is tiny, but it's a custom meter - you can make yours 320 pixels high if you wish. It's quite easy, and PhoneAlarm comes highly recommended.

there's a program called nicetrack that will show u signal strenght full screen although not in percentage it will graph where the signal is stronger and tell you which tower ur connected to.
I've seen all of these signal-battery indicators, but I personally prefer something that resembles the good old one found in the nokia cells (like the series 40 ones 8) ) this beacause I have a pretty empty Today screen ..

topaz camera, slow focalization

using my topaz camera, focalization is really slow and this is not good when i need to take a picture quickly. any registry tweak or something else to solve this problem?
thank you in advance
I changed my ISO from Auto to 800, it helped me out. Also turned Keep Backlight to Off (although I have no idea why that helped, but it did as well).
Hope it suits you.
It's probably stating the obvious, but the TD2 camera is not for taking pictures quickly. All small digicams are slow, the TD2 is slower still. I guess all the work (focussing, exposure evaluation, colour balancing etc) is being done by the main phone processor. A proper camera is optimised for this, probably with a dedicated chip to do the work.
Using ISO 800 will give a shorter shutter speed to minimise blur in low light, but I find the quality poor, with interference lines and noise in the picture. The noise is expected, but the interference is a TD2 problem.
Sorry to not offer any help, though

I did have one more thought, though. Rather than leave ISO and colour balance on "auto", set them both manually, the camera might take pictures more quickly, because it hasn't got to calculate as much. Use ISO 100 for sunlight, 200 for cloud, 400 for indoors and 800 for emergencies!
thank you all

less camera light

is there any possibility to reduce the camera light?
if i take pictures from faces, the flash uses his full power and messes up the picture. there is an example:

On my Sony Ericsson K800i the kamera did send out a light to get the focus and took the picture with the flash light...
anyone knows good settings to take pictures at darker places?
also the hd2 has a quiet bad image stabilization. did someone experienced something diffrent?
The TMoUS camera drivers fix the LED flash overexposure problem so all you have to do is find a cooked ROM which uses them.
I used to have a k800i too, the camera is far better than hd2 due to its xenon flash (better light management) and very short shutter time (reducing blur).
If as NeoGreendawg says the US rom has a fix then its only a matter of time till its fixed officially over here.
Right now i use a program called Torchbutton which turns the led's on. Then run camera app and set flash to disabled. The torch gives enough light but without the superbright flash that kills the pic.
Look on the sticky application thread in hd2 themes & apps for torch button.
As for image stabilisation i guess we just have to hold the thing damn still

What you are looking out for is a Photoplethysmograph.
It's the term for what your phone is acting as.
Basically, your blood vessels rhythmically dilate and contract with every heart beat. This is measurable as either a change in reflectance or transmittance (depending on how the photoplethysmograph is configured. In the case of your phone, it's measuring reflectance, as the light is adjacent to the camera.
In medical instruments, it's generally done with infrared light, because blood absorbs shortwave infrared more then red or white light, and your tissue is more transparent to infrared. However, there is no reason it wouldn't work with a phone camera.
If done properly, it should as or more accurate then manual measurement. However, a phone is not a proper photoplethysmograph, so the realistic achievable accuracy is likely dependent on a number of factors, including camera performance, proximity of the illuminating LED to the camera lens, and the algorithm used to extract the pulse from the video return.
However, you need to be aware that all photoplethysmographs are very sensitive to mechanical movement. It is essential that you hold your finger as still as possible, and avoid moving the phone relative to the finger.
But for all speculations it's mostly a scam cause mobile devices ain't that good yet....

Instant screen brightness adjustment

Just wanted to say I'm really impressed with control of brightness in different environments. I had numerous amounts of devices and this one is the most instantaneous to change and accurately fix it to wether inside or outside. LG nailed it there for me. ?

I hope that's true, the phone I've been using the past 2 and a half years has worthless autobrightness. I always manually adjust it.

+1, it is quite impressive. On a screen related note, interestingly the G3 screen is viewable while using polarized sunglasses to view it where my One M8 isn't. Also, for those wondering about it, in my opinion this screen is EASILY viewable in sunny environments. I'm very impressed with how bright it cranks. [emoji106]
