hey there.
i do have a strange prob after the regular update (phone tells me, there is an update available... clicking YES i WANT it... downloading, restart, etc.) of my sapphire:
if i want to call someone i just get a busy sound (beep beep beep... so on. u know ). it doesnt matter what number i call or what programm i use for it.
i can recieve calls like before, no prob there.
the same with SMS sending: doesnt matter what program i use (handcent, build in): after clicking the send button it takes a while and i get the message: sending not possible.
recieving SMS works fine.
i DO have a good cell connection and i CAN use 2G or 3G internet browsing. WLAN works, etc.
everything is working like before.
Anyone experienced similar "behavior"?
Any ideas, what that can be?
If there is nothing coming up here i think a wipe and reinstall is the best try?!
thx a lot.

SOLUTION...
In a German Forum (http://www.android-hilfe.de/vodafone-htc-magic-forum/8772-kann-keine-sms-mehr-schicken.html) i found some useful hints.
My solution was:
putting another SIM card (mine was SIMYO (german), change card was debitel (german)) in the phone. with this card everything worked fine.
so i put my card back in... and: voila! it worked as well.
VERY STRANGE.
dont even now if my action was part of the solution, but it works now.
no restart, etc. helped before.

Are you using google voice as your default dialer? If so, toggle or disable and try again.
Problem back
Hi again,
mysteriously the problem came back, and today i cant fone or send sms again.
the only "work around" solution at the moment is using APNdroid to kill the internet connection, and then the fon will work again.
but this is really annoying....
any ideas?
btw: i´m not usin google voice at all (i think)
using starcontact or the "standard" dialer that comes with android....

i Have a HTC HD2 from mobilephonedirect on t-mobile combie 30 plus web and walk. i can access my voice mail by either dialing 222 or by dialing 1 and all these work fine, but i cannot activate call forwarding to voicemail! when i go into setting>all settings>personal>phone>GSM/UMTS services i select call forwarding and tap get settings. i then want to enable all the options under 'forward calls only if:' (no answer, unavalible, busy) but when i try to enable any of the options i get the following error:
'cannot save your changes to the network. Try changing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again'
i have tried with all data connections disabled (including bluetooth and wifi) but this makes no difference. i have also tried 'later'. when i call voicemail it says my access code has been sent to my phone, but i havent recieved it. as far as i know mobilephonesdirect supply generic HTC handsets (my handset has no branding anywhere) i have ROM version 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE
just spoken to t-mobile, and the guy said it seems to be a reccuring issue with some suppliers who use generic handsets. he explained that while the internet and mms settings can be obtained automatically, sms service numbers and voie mail settings are usually set by the operator. after about 20 mins of trying various options, it picked up the settings and sorted its self out. makes me wonder if the sms problems some people are experiencing are also down to the same issue of generic handsets not being set up properly
So I am attempting to set up a VOIP calling solution to replace skype/fring after their spat. I'm using the google voice --> SIPGate/Gizmo --> Fring method with the iDailer/iContact app as detailed on lifehacker and other places (can't post external links yet).
Everything is set up correctly, as when I have SIPGate forward calls to my mobile number (using Verizon minutes) it works like a charm. However, despite the fact that the SIPGate control panel shows fring as a connected VOIP phone (fring is subscribed to SIP account properly) and fring rings correctly, when i attempt to pick up I get the following error dialog
"Unable to make a call. Please correct the date on your device and restart fring"
Any help would be appreciated. My device date is obviously correct. Fring is connected over 3G cellular broadband, and seems to do other things (like call fring-to-fring and AIM correctly).
I'm having exactly the same problem on an HTC Tilt 2. Quite frustrating and I'd love to know if there's a solution.
When fring is booting...read the fine print and read its manufacturer date... i.e. mine said 2006-2008.
Then set your device date year in that range. Try that. That way i don't get that error message, however my phone freezes up as soon as i make a call. Working on that issue.
I've just bought a second hand omnia 7, i put my sim card in and went straight on facebook so i assumed it was fine.. i then realised i couldnt make calls or send texts, and none of my calls went through. i tried it on a different sim and had the same problem.. HELP
I also have this problem any help? I cant make/send calls or texts but can get on G and browse the internet, could this be a problem with the setting on the phone? APN's maby? done 2 factory resets and recieved a text from windows phone saying welcome but thats all it will do....
I have the same problem, after some time. Messaging and calls stop working...
Has anyone come up with a fix for this?
I have full signal on an unlocked Omnia 7 but it is a simple case of not being able to make any calls or texts (or receive them for that matter).
Maybe they tamperd in Diagnostic Tools. I messed aroun and had a hard time restoring the radio settings. Look for diagnostic codes here you find a toon if codes to use. Hit this in your dial pad and you install and start the diagnostic tools.
##634#
You need to find the codes (cant remember em im afraid) that gives access to gsm/3G section.
Just had to look =P
- Hit *#32489# and you get to Cyphering. Mine is on
- Hit back once and you can press [5] RRC (HSPA). Mine is set to REL6
- If you back to the side where we could find the above [5]RRC option, you have below a Dual Mode setting. Mine says "Not ACT"
- When you type in *#32489# you can press back 2 times. There you can select option [7] Network settings. In there you can look if stuff is in automatic modes. Like...
[2] Band selection, mine is in automatic.
Well, there you have it. Something to compare to a working device. A hard reset won't put these values to default so you will have to look for your self. Now be carfull in there, you can do more damage if you dont acctully read what the pages says. If you understand what im saying, there should be no problems. Check out your settings and compare to mine. Se any diff just set it like i given advice on. Hope this helps..
Cheers for the advice but it hasn't helped as I have the same settings as you, another thing to add whenever I do try to make a call it comes up "00:00 Call Ended". I hope that may help someone in diagnosing the problem.
Have you tried downloading the Samsung Network Profile tool from Marketplace and then changing the Active profile to your SIM card?
Hvae you tried putting an unbranded ROM on? (even an old one as Zune will update with the unbranded ROM!!)
Same problem tried different ROMS but still have "Emergency Only".
The SIM is OK.
anybody found a fix for this problem ? im also suffering but the phone will receive texts and voice-mail on the orange network, it was on orange before i got it unlocked.
thanks hope there is help out there
For several days I have a problem in the sense that one of the people can not connect to my phone. After dialing you receive a message that the connection can not be realized.
I do not use any program from the "black list ". After inserting the card into another phone it works. As you can see the problem is in the X5. I tried to upload other dialers, removed and re-entered the contact, however, is still on the phone the caller's message appears. Does anyone know what could cause this situation?
What connection? data? calls? computer?
You mention sdcard and a bunch of stuff but you need to let us know WHAT connection you cant initialize.
Problem solved. In the menu / connection settings tab, however, is the black list (I did not know). I do not know how it happened, but one of the contacts on it went.
