Simply HTC Home with rlToday plugin

Hi all since I'm using WM6 I like the HTC Home Plugin but it drain a lof of resources so I draw a simple rlToday skin wich is like first one
- This skin do not need mortscript
- You need only rToday plugin and a font to be installed
(also you can update skin.xml to use system fonts)
How to install:
1) unzip the skin and copy the folder under \Program Files\rlToday
2) copy *.ttf to \Windows\Fonts
3) enable this skin in rlToday plugin via Setting\Today from start menu
Note:
* If you like to change the clock font remember to adjust XY coord
* You can choose to show current operator or cell broadcast message by updating the XML with these registry paths:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Phone\Cell Broadcast

Thanks.. I have modified the applications since most of them are different on my 6828. + added Last Incoming Call line as well. Do you have any idea whether rlToday supports Cell Broadcast Messages?

The front of the phone has a beautiful high quality metal finish, at the bottom we have the phone end and send buttons, the end button also doubles up as the home button, a Windows key which is a requirement for future devices that will support Windows Mobile 6.5 and a back button. Hi all,
i have a little Question and hope that this wasnt ask by someone else. (sorry for my bad english)
In the startmenu i can put up to 7 Programs at max. Does exist any Registry entry to stack up the Number of programs that i can put in the startmenu?

Help, I lost the "settings" shortcut on the startmenu. Is there a way to get it back without having to hard reset the device?

Maybe if you copy the shortcut files manualy to Windows\Start menu from Windows\Start menu\Programs\

thx but that not works. Also i have searched in the Registry a little bit but dont found any entry for this....can anyone help me?

You may want to take a look at this tool, one of the most valuable tools I've installed on my Polaris: 'QuickMenu' of Chinese origin. It replaces the startmenu on the windows logo, while the original windows startmenu is still available under 'Start'.

There's no installer, unzip the archive to a 'quickmenu' folder in your program files and run the exe once. If you don't like it, delete the folder. The only issue I had with it on my previous device was that the 'Settings' menu which links to WM's personal, system and connection settings didn't work correctly, possibly because it was mapped to the 'Settings' function, in stead of the dutch 'Instellingen'. The rest of the functions worked fine.
My Polaris has an english system and QM works perfectly. Great little tool.

Indeed a great tool, but can you disable the battery status on the upper right corner ? It is messing with the task manager and i cant close or select which program i want.
I tried disabling it from the settings of the program itself, and the battery status gets removed, but i still cant see the task manager icon.

Go into Settings/Task Manager/Button tag and re-check the "Enable Quick Menu on Today Screen"

SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 Beginner's How-to

Let’s sum up what we already know.
update 19-03-2008 : Icon tutorial by Luigi
update 26-03-2008 : Background mod by asefsef, some cleaning done.
*** IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING USEFUL NOT MENTIONED HERE, JUST PM ME AND I WILL UPDATE THIS POST. ***
0-Basics
.dat files need to be opened using winzip. To extract the files you will need to use a password which is:
PASSWORD = b0fm18zq
*** WARNING ***
If you plan to use WinRAR instead of WinZIP to reencrypt the files, be sure to change the radio checkbox from RAR to ZIP format before entering the password (thanks cincij for the trick).
1-Localization
Simply edit the SpbMobileShell.txt file and change the corresponding items to your needs:

Note that not all of the texts will be changed; some of them require registry hacks.
2-Customize the layouts (Quick and dirty tuto from SPBCLUB, written by met3ora ?)
(I will use brackets to indicate the XML tags, since the SPB forum doesn't like the XML tags.)
Copy qa_layouts.dat to your computer.
Using a WinZip, extract Launcher.xml, using the password b0fm18zq.
Opening up Launcher.xml in Notepad, you can see how MS reads the file. There are a few layouts that are defined, and are based on screen size and orientation. For my Kasier, 240x320 and 320x240 are the portrait and landscape layouts, respectively.
Under {Layout Name="240x320"} and more specifically under {Plugins Extends="Default"}, we find what we're looking for. The first 12 plugins (named rN) are the "pinned menu" buttons, and the next 6 (named mN) are the large buttons. Defined in each Plugin is the following line (with variation on the numbers, of course) {BoundRect X="0" Y="182" Width="39" Height="45"/}. So obviously X and Y are the X and Y positions in pixels, and Width and Height are, well, width and height also in pixels.
If you'd like to remove all the 12 pinned menu buttons, simply remove the following lines (for r0-rB):

{BoundRect X="0" Y="182" Width="39" Height="45"/}
{/Plugin}
Just delete them, and then they're done. Now, this leaves the bigger launcher menu sitting on the bottom, looking pretty odd since there's a big void on the top. To even out the void, I moved each of those big buttons up 45 pixels. Why 45? Well, 45 was the height of one of the icons in the pinned menu, so moving it up that much would leave 45 pixels above and below the big grid.
So just simply subtract 45 from each Y coordinate of each plugin m0-m5, giving you (for m0-m2) 46 and (for the next 3) 137.
Now, I don't like the grid. Fortunately, we can just hide the grid by finding this line at the top of the XML file, under {General}, which is {Int Name="LineOpacity" Value="64"/}. Simply change the Value to 0, and that will hide the grid lines.
There you go, now the 6 button launcher is in the middle of your Launcher screen, with none of those pesky 12 pinned items. Do the same thing under {Layout Name="320x240"}, except of course change the numbers so that your 6 grid is in the middle of your screen.
Save the file.
Go back to WinZip and add Launcher.xml back into qa_layouts.dat, remembering to overwrite the old Launcher.xml and remembering to encrypt it again with the same password (which is b0fm18zq).
Now replace qa_layouts.dat in the \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell\ folder and soft reset your phone.

To get rid of the icon tab at the bottom, edit Main.xml in qa_layouts.dat:
Basically, I moved the tab below the screen's visible area.
- In every layout node you want the tab to disappear, add 47 (the tab height) to the Y-coordinate of the plugins named Tab1, Tab2, Tab3 and Tab4.
- In order to make the area where the other elements appear extend to the bottom of the screen, add 47 to the height of the Plugin named Subform.
This expands the canvas height on which to show elements like the calendar, clock, menubuttons, etc.
Now you have to go into those xml files (for example LockScreen.xml) and change those element's coordinates, heights, etc. where appropriate.
This can easily be done with the menu tab, launcher tab, speeddial tab, etc.

So far, doing this is pretty easy:
- Extract files from qp_bkg_now.dat
- Change the separator2 and its mask to 240x320.
- Make the mask all white.
- Then put whatever image you like into the separator2 bmp.
You have to save the file as a Windows - 16bit - R5 G6 B5 - .bmp file.
if u miss the separator, just photoshop the separator back into the file. (thats not cheatin! >< hehe, it IS the separator layer after all.)

You can do some pretty nice things by directly editing your registry:

I now have 9 buttons and no need for all possible submenus. Therefore I started looking to use one of the menu buttons to activate the taskmanager from the main menu tab.
in the registry HKLM>Software>Spb Software House 2>Spb Mobile Shell>Menu>Root I added the ninth menu with folowing values:
Add = 0
Image = 8
Index = 9
Text = Active Tasks
Type = TaskManager
And the most amazing is that I got it 2 work!
Looking at existing 'Type' regvalues show that the menu buttons can be used for a lot more!

I use WinRAR to repack, you just have to be sure to change the radio checkbox from RAR to ZIP format before entering the password.

There is also no option to tick in the setting/customise menu, as it is not there. Is there any registry tweak that I can do to make it show in the customise menu setting? Hope you understand. You can download ANY version you like BUT:
a. put ALL the ICON files in \Storage Card\Program Files\Manila WP Icons\
b. put the THEME files in \Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes\Manila
c. a quick note: if you want the 5 day forcast setup i have, rename the Manila.wpl to something else
and then change the file name: Manila-TL-5day.wpl to Manila.wpl
d. i also included a reg file in your \storage card\my documents folder.
incase your weatherpanel setup gets screwed and you start seeing small icons just run the reg file.
8. INSTALL nir36 ULDSetup.cab AND RESET YOUR DEVICE!

9. you will see the WRONG rlToday skin so click and hold on the rlToday skin and choose the Diamond skin
10. In the contacts page you will see 12 contact pictures. you need to switch them with 54x72 icons of your contacts
you should use Any2Icon (http://www.aha-soft.com/anytoicon/any2icon.exe) to convert pictures to .ico files to put in
\Storage Card\My Documents\Icons\ContactIcons. Make SURE these icons are named exactly as the icons in this dir.
11. now i need feedback on this.
i put some strings in the registry which are supposed to set Cal+ to show only 1 appointment for the Home Page.
if it works, you won't have to touch it. if not..click and hold the Calendar+ today item in the Home page and choose
to view 1 APPOINTMENT. please let me know if the reg file works automatically so i can delete this section.

5. REMEMBER that you will have to modify the icons and the applications according to your preference. let me know if you need help.

ultimatelaunch's setup) the phone numbers for the Contacts' Page to fit the numbers you desire).

vjtoggletoday lets you hide your softkeys.. your systray and your taskbar.
you HAVE to use it for this skin.. otherwise you won't have enough room for everything.
(you can obviously not use it and change my ini file as well).
to use the registry file you need:

in TaskMan2.9 rar file i'm posing here i included Softreset.exe and it's shortcut. both should be put in the /windows directory.

what you need to do is:
- install o2plus2.3.cab
- put the ini file in your UL directory
- extract the Diamond-NoSMSorMC.rar file into your rlToday directory and in the rlToday options choose the "daemon" skin. (there is a font ttf file included in this rar file, you're invited to put it in your /windows/fonts dir).

EDIT: in the original version of the Diamond Clock for rlToday (which is included with the rar in this post), nothing happens when you click the clock. i edited the XML file which is supposed to go to the /program files/rltoday/daemon folder so that when you click it you can change clock settings. this is important for any of you who uses the alarms. (i use it on a daily basis).
what you need to do is switch the skin.xml file in the /program files/rltoday/daemon folder with the xml provided.

A few changes
- Moved HomePage o2plus and SMS/MMS today plugins to the middle of the screen.
- Changed the rlToday XML to open Clock when left side of clock is clicked and to open Tasks (for those of you who use it a lot like me), when the right side of the clock is clicked.
- Changed the WeatherPanel WPD WPX WPL files to show the fonts in a nicer more centered way and not to be thrown out of the screen.
- Changed one of the icons in the programs section to the calculator instead of thumbcal (which is run by an upwards gesture on the calendar screen).
- Added a margin to the Internet screen so that the icons are detached from the upper part of the screen (easily clicked).

2 more things.
1. I use HButton to QUIT applications, run iGO8, Comm Manager, iContact, Disable/Enable Bluetooth. this is why they don't appear in the skin.. they're all button controlled. if you need help with HButton let me know.
2. I'm gonna keep all previous posts with the previous files set as they are so that if anyone prefers previous settings he/she can enjoy them.

Enhancments:
i took James Kuang's (thank you james) rlToday skin (found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409370) and altered it a bit.. to look.. different (changed the XML to show different fonts, edited the clock background in photoshop to be white... yada yada)
a little lighter and fitting with my UltimateLaunch settings.
What you need to do to get that is download the rar file given here, install VJphoneshortcuts from the rar file, and put the Diamond folder in your rlToday folder in program files. then, choose Diamond as the skin in rlToday instead of the old one. (install VJphoneshortcuts on your DEVICE).
whoever took my last advice and installed o2plus - uninstall it now. i included the same setup within the rlToday skin.
also, when clicking the date on the upper right side, it brings up Thumbcal.. and the other settings are still on. clicking the left side of the clock brings up the clock setting and the right side brings up Tasks.
when clicking the number of sms's or the pic next to it, it loads "Messaging"
when clicking the number of missed calls or the pic next to it, it loads "Call History" (you must install VJphoneshortcuts for the missed calls shortcut to work).

This is my current setup (without the Contacts Page .. it is still the same and is shows on the first page of this thread):
Changes:
- removed tray so that there's more room
- HomePage: Brought back the Next Appointment Bar in rlToday skin
- HomePage: clicking on the right side of the clock brings up ThumbCal Tasks
- HomePage: clicking on the date brings up Thumbcal New Task
- Clicking on the Next Appointment bar brings up Thumbcal Today
- Added margins to some of the tabs
- Programs Page: S2P icon replaced with RegEdit since S2P runs using upwards gesture in HomePage
- Calendar+ Page: Upwards gesture brings up Thumbcal 1.0.6 Monthly/Weekly view
- Internet Page: 2 New icons - Wifi Available Networks and Bluetooth Settings. (NOTICE bluetooth button in homepage is for moBlue2.1 while in Internet Page it's for Bluetooth Settings)

updating:
1. put the Ultimatelaunch.ini file in your UL dir.
2. put the updated rlToday skin from the program files dir in the rar file to the specified dir.
3. put MSBluetooth.lnk and Network Adapters.lnk in your device's ROOT dir.
4. put vjtoggletodayalphaII in your windows/startup dir (if you haven't already done so in earlier setups) and run the vjtasknosoft....reg file.
5. you MUST install Thumbcal version 1.0.6 (supplied in rar) for the HomePage links to work, otherwise you must setup the options yourself in UL setup.
6. for the dialer, install 2G Htc Dialer.cab and poorlyduck diamond dialer.cab
7. icontact 1.01 is supplied
I must remind you again that not all applications are included in this setup. for instance, i run iGO8, iContact, Enable/Disable Bluetooth/Wifi and Quit using HButton (it is included in the first page of this thread as part of the main setup).

I checked the files, they are fine... i'm sorry but i don't know why you're getting these malware warnings.

I am trying to get this to work on my Polaris and am installing your setup a bit at a time. One question though is I have 2 soft keys at the bottom of my today screen. This causes a vertical scroll bar to appear on the right of the screen and ruins the overall effect.
Is there a particular part of your installation that removes these soft keys? I have previously tried the program dciNoBar which is supposed to do this, but it does not function correctly with my ROM.
Do you have any suggestions?

putting the file vjtoggletodayalphaII in your startup menu and applying the supplied registry file for it will remove the softkeys.

Does not work on the newest builds cant get the softkeys hidden.
EDIT:: after replacing some system files got it working really nice ground work got some more editing to do but major props nir would u mind if I used it in a couple roms?

I have it working after a fashion, but there is a wasted black bar of space that I can't seem to use above and below what ever is on the Today page. The softkeys have gone though

LNK files: SPB shell actions from SPB Menu (folders & applications)...
Hello all,
I was playing around with Shell and found something that some people might like... Linking directly to the folders that SPB Mobile Shell uses.
Example:
I'm using Ultimate Launch, now with one touch off a button from the today-screen i can see active tasks, see the phone profiles and even deeper in the folders and start directly programs that normaly only can be accesed by opening spb menu (create ink/text note instantly, set phone profile instanly).
Opening a shortcut [Organizer].lnk with notepad did show me:
130#"\Program files\Spb Mobile Shell\MenuLauncher.exe" -cmd:"\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\Menu\Root\Organizer\"
Example off a created .LNK file:
128#"\Program files\Spb Mobile Shell\MenuLauncher.exe" -cmd:"\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\Menu\Root\Messaging"
If you save this as a .LNK file, you can acces the Messaging menu from spb mobile shell.
I'm using:
SpbMobileSHell2.1.1 NL arm (but it should work with any SPB Shell 2.* version)
Looked in the register how to "code" the file and it worked
Making *.LNK files is pretty easy:
Open the files attached on your device to see the effect.
Open the files attached on your desktop PC in notepad to see the "code".
I did not test this on other devices or with other versions. I've putted all the files in one ZIP file. Personaly i like the phone profiles & Mediaplayer links allot
* the dutch version (i personal use) has the link "Programmabestanden" instead of "Program files"

Also delete everything except the first line and save it with LNK extension.

You can place the files on your storage card and run them.
They are very small files and some off them can be usefull to place in Windows\Start menu
Use them for sorting your today plugin like Ultimate Launch (place links directly into a "deep" spb menu).
Please reply how it's working an what the "wishes" are.

Adding extra is in my opinion simple:
1: copy the files to your device.
2: import the *.reg files (i use sk-tools, but there are many more).
3: look under customize menu to see (activate and change) the new menu.
4: open the *.lnk file to go directly to the menu you just added.

Games.reg is a file you can find all over XDA and adds a new menu that you can customize to the spb menu.
An LNK file that links directly to the menu Games wasn't.
They are both in the attachmend Games.zip

But why only add 1 menu if we can use more off them?
I've created a *.REG file that adds 10 menus.
Don't worry about "to much", because they're all under 1 created menu.
The Custom.reg file will add the following menus:
Under the root a menu Custom and in that menu 9 submenus (named 1-9).
Also in the zip file there are 10 *.LNK files included to link directly to the menus.

Use them to sort your favorite programs like:
1 - Office applications
2 - Navigation applications
3 - Create new... "menu"
4 - messenger applications
5 - and so on...
After you've done that you can link directly to your own created menus with the *.LNK files included in the attached file.

Sorry for the "mess" in the first 2 post. I'll make them better in the future (now trying to create som CAB files).
Step 1: Copy all the files (unzipped from Custom.zip) to your device.
Step 2: Import the custom.reg file to your registry
Step 3: Go to customize menu (in SPB Mobile Shell) and see & customize the new custom menus.
Step 4: Open the *.LNK files from anywhere on your deveice to go directly to the menus.
There will come 1 new folder (named Custom) in the root of mobile shell.
In that folder there will come 9 folders (named 1 to 9).

You can also try and play with your register:

and an LNK file with something like:

It's not you, but my bad english...
I was creating them, discovered more options while writing the big post (so it got messy).
I'm working on more and will clean up the posts when releasing a "big update".
I guess all the files are working correctly on your device?

In the attachment is the file Adding Items.reg
Import it with your register explorer and you'll be able to customize SPB Menu more. The effect is visible under customize menu from mobile shell.
The strings under here are added:

No, cannot do that. There are links inside the ZIP file in Post one to the dial-tab & to SPB contacts. Changing the layout is not what i want to do...

Is anyone able to find a way to add the "Camera Album" (Not 'Pictures & Videos', the HTC Camera Album) to the Multimedia--> Pictures menu? I've tried my best but to no avail.

It's a long time i used this files...
I don't use them anymore (also not using SPB Mobile Shell anymore, maybe version? 3)
Anyway:
Not sure what you mean, the exe files i suppose.
Create a shortcut to the files in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\"
If you do that you can link them up to SPB Shell and Buttons.
