[Dev]BMP3 - B is for Background [Alpha, October 12.] - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi all, and thank you for checking out mine newest creation. The other day I was reading XDA-Developers and some guy sad, that he would like to have his MP3 playing while he is doing something else. So I made this piece of software.
So what it exactly does?
It plays mp3 in background and when playing a new song it will send a notification to you with the song name, cool eh.
So, how do I use it?
Very easy, Create your playlist, and press play. As simple as that. After that you can either press X button or just Start->Today.
Is it fmodce?
Yes it is.
How can I stop the music?
Access the program via your favorite Task Manager. In the future i will bind it to HW key.
Is this free?
Ofcourse. Download link is below.
In the file I downloaded there are some pictures, what is that?
Thing is guys, my rapidshare premium account is dying and I don't have money to extend it. So I added 3 PPC VGA wallpapers and 1 PC wallpaper to archive so it is 1MB now and you by downloading help my account stay alive.
How do I install?
Extract it and run BMP3.exe
Will it work with...?
It is compatible with WM2003SE, WM5, WM6. You need .net cf 2
It's not working, what should I do?
Post your problems here, or PM me and I will fix it ASAP. This is Alpha version after all.

Hello ,
I have not tried it as i am waiting for my replacement phone, but i am wondering, when you say notification of what song is about to play will it play an audible notification or just text? And if just text will you plan on making it audible anytime soon in future development?
And do you think you will have any plans on integrating it somehow with A_C's S2P?
I think a nice audible "about to play song" that does not cause your phone to wake up screen and drain battery compatible on Window mobile devices and work not only as a stand alone but also with S2P, and other player like Mort player? Coreplayer, And Windows Media player maybe?
Just throwing ideas out at you.
Thanks for the program
Kicken

The bubble is nice, but most programs we have now does play music in the background. If you could intergrate the bubble with the following applications:
S2P
Windows Media Player
or
HTC Audio Manager
it would work much better.

I like what you've done, this app seems really neat and lightweight!
Will the music continue to play when the phone is place in standby? That's my one and only need apart from what you've developed

I will try to integrade it with WMP.

how to add the MP3 files in sub-folder?
I just sync the media files with wmp, it's so many sub-folder in \SD card\Music...

htc touch -like media player skin

Hey All:
Thought I would cross post here since this works fine with our devices but is on the Wizard forum. I have a 6800 and was looking for a good skin to replace the WMP default - but liked the look of the HTC Audio Manager (which I would use except it doesn't play albums in order).
So, I found this skin for WMP which was darn close to what I wanted. Tonite I modified the graphics a little to make it more like the HTC player.
Check it out...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315941
The images I modified are below. Just download the zip from post one, then throw my stuff in there to complete the look! Props to monoberlin for a great looking base skin!

Hey, that's pretty good. I think I'm gonna load that one up. Thanks!
Really nice.
By the way how did you get the album picture to show?
In the link your screen capture shows a picture in the center, I assumed that was an album pix.
Anyone knows how to show the picture saved in the tags?
Thanks,

Well, I would assume that if it were in the IDv3 tags that it would show, but going through my music it looks like it only works when you have the WMP style album art files in the same folder. Just use WMP on your computer to get the album art and make sure you copy over the (hidden I believe) picture files that are in the same folder.
I started using this theme and it works wonders in the car with the larger buttons. Thanks for everyones hard work in making my phone such an amazing device.
That looks very hot... but who uses WMP? =/ It sucks - can't even play with the screen turned off and theres no plugin support
How about skins for TCPMP that show you the song title of internet radio

There is no skin definition in TCPMP. Coreplayer has an XML skin reference, have fun reading their -->31<-- page Universal Skins Guide

Nice!
A pause icon (instead of just play the whole time) would be nice.
Also, I don't know what all is involved, but album art support would be cool.
Great skin.

The album art is working fine on mine. Although, for some reason, when I slide the keyboard out it reverts back to the standard WMP skin. I put all the files into the \Program Files\Windows Media Player, but it only works when the keyboard is closed. Still sweet looking though!

Actually, it already looks good on WQVGA. So I will port to the Neo theme.
I've been waiting for this! Thanks!
However, so far there is no functionality that the default cMusic doesn't provide. cMusic even allows you to flip through the music list too. Just something to consider, keep up the good work.
OK. Here is CNitrogen for the Neo theme. Right now it is WQVGA only. I will work on QVGA soon.

Sure it does. It uses a much better player than WMP. Besides, it is the first version.
what i like about Nitrogen player is the small footprint it has compared to WMP.
WMP = 2.41MB
S2P = 4.93MB
Nitrogen = 832KB
that's why i stuck with Nitrogen and made a titanium plugin for it. i only need the basics for the plugin (play/pause/forward/close). cMusic doesn't even allow you to close WMP
can't be installed on my omnia :|
Great Titanium plugin !!!
But any song selection performed with Nitrogen is not reflected onto the Titanium plugin.
If I currently play song A from the plugin and then display the Nitrogen app to change the current song to B, the Nitrogen plugin still display the song A as played.

yup, you have to pause then play it again using the plugin to reflect the new song. i didn't include any background running script to monitor the Nitrogen Player.

Thanks for this plugin.
What do we need to change to get it to work with our Nitrogen player installed on the storage card? Is it as simple as changing the addresses on the MSCR files?
Edit: Not to worry. I changed.. Run(SystemPath("ProgramFiles")\"Nitrogen\Nitrogen.exe") to.. Run("Storage Card\Program Files\Nitrogen\Nitrogen.exe")
as per this thread.
Very useful, thanks !
I wish you continue developping this plugin !!
For some reason I'm getting a circular red x where the album art is supposed to show as well as not having any song information present. I have Nitrogen installed to the main memory and can't think of anythiing else that would cause this. Thanks!
edit: I thought it was the skin I had installed so I changed to the default and all that did was restore the cd in a case icon however when music begins to play the circular red x returns where the album art should be. The plugin works great besides this little hiccup. Thanks for your hard work.

Looking for a simple Music Player App

I want a good old music player, something like WinAmp or alikes
I just want to click on a folder and play everything on the folder, instead of having to annoyingly having to go manually pick from Artist list, or Genre list, or Album list
so far all the Player software i've tested are like that "fancy wannabe"
Build in Samsung musci player = good player but lacks the most basic feature
Astro Player = it doesn't do it
bTunes = it doesn't do it
Rock Player = it doesn't do it
DAAP Media Player = it doesn't do it
Zimly Media Player = fancy but it doesn't do it
Vanilla Music Player = not as vanilla as it claims, it doesn't do it
MixIng = horrible junk
Kiss = it doesn't do it
.... (many hours later)
Player = woooooohoooooooo finally this one works the way i like, best thing is it also lets you set which ever tune you are listening to as the default ring tone, YES!
it can get lyrics too!

There are a lot of windows utils out there that automatically create a playlist in every music folder you have.... So, you can still use your favorite player and click a "folder", but this time as a playlist (with the folder name as its name)
have you tried double twist?

There are tools that will automatically create playlists for all your folders at once, with one click on a button so to speak. For example: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Other-AUDIO-Tools/Winamp-Playlist-Creator.shtml
But i know that there are many others out there.

Hey mate
I must admit, that i didnt test a lot of music-player-apps, but since years I miss a feature (or didnt find it) and perhaps, it could become one of your unique features:
-Jump to Time
There are a lot of 1hour+ mixtapes, and its hardly possible to jump to the right position with the seek-bar-slider, because 1mm slide could skip 2-10 min...
Going to test you app now
Definitely better than jetaudio...love it.
But my song not showing on BBM feeds when I enable Show What I'm Listening To on BBM setting. Or maybe i missed some setting on blackplayer?

Yes..i missed it. There is broadcast now playing on settings...love it
