For the 70% of our readership who still care about this device, we have a small tidbit of news. In line with its new full-screen button-minimalist design, the HTC Touch HD eschews the usual phone answer and end call buttons (though vestigial versions still exist on the device) for a new on screen phone call answering system using two adjacent sliders.
The system is similar to the iPhone, but goes one further. To answer a phone call you slide to the left, to ignore it one simply slides to the right. The interface will be present on HTC’s other new Touch series devices too, like the HTC Touch Viva for example.

Do you have a link for the OpalCanvas dialer? I have searched the forums and I am unable to find one...

hum I tought this was already in the diamond and pro because the first version I used was a mixture of the opal images and the pro regs.
I feel this design is ergonomically incorrect for 90% of people. I am right handed, i usually pick up the phone with my right hand and thus would be easier for me to slide my thumb to the right to answer, left to ignore since i ignore very few calls. (See the slide to answer feature of S2U2) no?

I'm totally agree with you, I use Pointui and all the interface is made for finger navigation, but when there's an incoming call it looks ugly like you said, it doesn't fit with Pointui. Surprising that nobody thought about It.
Use S2U2
doesn't work ... already posted in the thread...
I would also really like to be able to change the incoming call notification. A big nice answer / reject screen that covers the whole of the screen would have been really nice.
When you think about it - it's quite a basic skinning request.
Then again - [email protected]#$soft is real rubbish and they can miss the most obvious things in everything they do.
no one skins that because everone uses s2u2 !

that is a good concept, can any developer design that caller notification for qvga devices????
Is there a solution that doesn't require me to change anything else, only the incoming call screen?
S2U2 is nice, but I don't want the app to be my main page, I don't need the lock feature, want to keep my device as it is, only have a nicer and bigger incoming call screen.
InesoftAddressBook: same problem. I don't want to change my contacts manager...
You can disable the Lock part of S2U2, and leave it as just a CID program...
i made this one for the inesoft caller id.
If anyone can work out how to disable the default CID screen, I can make a replacement. (In fact, I have a replacement, it just gets interupted...)

+1 With inesoft AdressBook, you'll change your incoming call interface.
Try it and you'll keep it.
Inesoft Address Book skins the dialer with an easy to use finger-friendly incoming call screen.
My current idea is a small piece of software that's memory resident, and pops up when it gets notified of an incoming call.
Using the .NET CF, that part's not hard, and the pick up/reject is easy to do via virtual keystrokes, but so far, I haven't found a way to stop WM showing it's own CID screen...
The main reason I have for this is for FSD (my dialer), but if it can be done, I'll release a stand alone CID program.

S2U2 will not be your main page. If you choose not to lock your device in S2U2 settings then only time you'll ever see it is when someone calls you.

That is not the iPhone dialer, and by phone specific, I mean not all phones can use the same dialpad, the one you see is a stock dialer with modified graphics. Look through the threads, it's somewhere on this site, not wherever you got that pic from.

The dialer is mine... It relies on JPL4's JPLDialer Vista II and it uses modified graphics I created for my own use. So far it exists only in portrait since I never use my phone in landscape mode.
I'm happy to share it you like it. You'll have to install the dialer above, soft-reset, copy the content of the link below to your Windows directory and soft-reset one again.

CallCapturer is an alternative to the WM callID screen, written in C# CF (so you'll need .NET CF 2.0 or above) for touch screen devices.
CallCapturer will start as silent, and will appear when you get a call!
History
0.06 Has caller picture functionality, and hopefull works better...
0.05 Actually works! (in theory at least)
0.04 No longer full screen - fixes an issue...
0.03 Change of call discovery method.
0.02 Release with nice UI
0.01 First release as beta
Planned updates
Video ringtones?
Caller picture
Thanks to MarcLandis!
Source Code available here
Use it as you see fit, so long as you put my name some where on your release!
Does not work on my HTC 6700, restarted PPC and your call screen shows, I hit the end button and it goes in the background. Call myself and the WM CallID shows not CallCaputre

EDIT: UNDER DEVELOPEMENT AND WILL BE RELEASED WHEN READY! KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD!!!!
Here's an idea... when you turn your phone off, it locks... when you turn it on, you must roll your thumb/finger to the right around the wheel of the diamond to unlock it...
as you wheel around, the white line around the circle begins to fill from the top, moving rightward around...
sorry for the poor image quality, i just threw it together as a thought.
I hope a developer can throw this together, prolly isn't hard at all and would really be cool for the diamond. Better graphics and glowing line ofcourse.
its simple and utilizes the unique hardware of the diamond, and also the pro.

anyone like?
anyone down to try and create it?
Wish i could, but i have no idea where to start. i'm in the dark here.
to clear up any confusion that may come up, the lights on the wheel itself don't need to light up as you wheel around... only the circle on the screen.
as you would pass a point on the wheel, another section of the ring on the screen would fill in.
Sounds like a good idea. Hope someone have the time to make it.
im sure that 'wheel-2-unlock' is one of the features of the TouchXperience ROM but it would take a long time for this rom to be released i guess.
TouchXperience is a ROM? Not just a cab installation?

CapacitiveFingerLock
I am working on such an idea already for a week or so:
CapacitiveFingerLock.
It will have another locking/unlocking mechanism on top of StylusLock, as described in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2681112&postcount=62
Because I am now on a business trip in America, I had not much time to work on the program. But I haven proven already that it works. I have to remove some stuff from the proven program, and integrate it with my already existing StylusLock. The goal is that it does NOT cost extra battery power and CPU and is really simple to use.
The reason to add this, is to have it possible to lock and unlock "one handed". The StylusLock approach cannot be done "one handed", e.g. on a bike. Also some people do not like to operate with the StylusLock. The combination with this new CapacitiveFingerLock and existing StylusLock will suit more people. And sometimes people will use the Stylus, so they will get the right behaviour depended on the usage.
Good idea, as I do not use any locks or such applications, but this one sounds nice. Just remember that this app should not conflict with, or somehow overcover and incomming call

Woohoo, I've been asking for such a thing for weeks now. Do you have a working version already?

Definitely MUCH MUCH better than SensorLock and all the - no need to mention - rest!
Especially because SensorLock is still buggy as hell!
Hello,
First of all, I hope am posting in the correct location. Anyways, in windows mobile, we receive different tooltips, ex: call summary report from the provider, credit report, and many others, the ones am talking about are the tooltips that appear on the top right corner of the screen.
These tooltips are so annoying since the buttons they carry are totally not finger friendly. After using "Yota Phone" on my HTC Touch Pro, i noticed that they mapped/changed the default tooltips with the title "PHONE" with their own nice finger friendly one.
Is there any program that does such a thing? searched a lot and couldn't find any. If nobody knows a program that does this, can someone tell me what are the commands/code of those functions/events? maybe i would do a small application for that one.
Thank you

This is an awesome idea!!! I too am suffering from sausage fingers syndrome
I'm not exactly sure how this could be done but I there is another application on XDA that changes the way our Context Menus look. He does is via dll injection and my guess is that that is how to do this also.
This would be awesome, I hate those little popups as well!!!! Maybe you could ask francarl (creator of FingerMenu), your idea sounds similar to what he did.

thank you m.schmidler. I was thinking about how to replace standard tooltip. It will be very useful if someone finds which is the Win32 API (if exists) that opens the tooltip!
I would totally use this! Anyone wanna pick this up?
Great to see you guys interested in this idea, but wish someone could actually implement it. If only creators of "Yota Phone" would reply. Since they successfully changed the "Phone" tooltip.
If only they share the knowledge. already posted a question regarding this matter on their thread, but no replies on that so far.
I will look into this as soon as I get some time. I'm working on wFacebook for now but as soon as I release a new version (hopefully by this weekend) i'll do some research and post my findings.
Add me to the list of the intrigued.
while you're at it, could you have a look at the default windows popups as well? you know, the ones with that incredibly tiny and impossible to hit ok thingy in the top right corner? even *with* a stylus it is annoyingly hard to press ok.

Oh, yeah those too are so damn annoying!
If there are things that amaze me in pocket pc they are the following:
1. PPCs are more than 10 years old, and we still have THAT FEW RAM with SUCH SLOW PROCESSOR?
2. A message to Microsoft, WTF are you doing? We here at XDA can create a better OS with MUCH smarter tools and you as an enterprise suck that much in your own OS?
Hope we get a fix / program for the tooltip AND those middle confirmation messages, like the one that appears when you try to shut down the device. Buttons are non user friendly and still needs a stylus. Idiotic menus/tooltips.
Cheers
