im using my gmail account and my settings are as per the gmail's official support page. https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
htc weather plug-in also doesn't work
my IE runs without any problems, even Yahoo GO works fine although it occassionally gives connectivity issues which are solved on re-trying.

Hope this helps
I am having same problem. Cannot connect to Messenger or my Exchange server. Using UK Vodaphone Palm Treo Pro with WM6.1 Professional and loaded A4 Chinese text input. Not sure if this is problem. Phone works great except for connecting to Microsoft products for email, i.e. Exchange and Messenger. Moved usemynls file to another folder named other which I created in Windows directory but still does now work.
Did anyone find a solution or even identify problem?
Best,
David
well i got it sorted out..
basically china mobile has two type of GPRS connections. cmnet and cmwap..
when u go and ask them for gprs subscription, they will only open cmwap for u which in my view works only for HTTP (port 80) connections.. means u can browse websites but nothing else. no weather updates, etc, etc.
anyways... i came to know about it and then got subscription of cmnet and everything works fine now...

I have been trying , unsucessfully, to configure my Siemens SX56 to connect to the internet and send e-mail after I upgraded to the Special Rom. It connects but doesn't load the pages and it tells me it cannot connect with current settings. I do not want to wipe clean my device and start over w/o the Special Rom because it has so many cool apps and after my contract expires I am on my way to T-Mobile, so unlocking is key! I have looked at this forum and there is no settings for ATTWS in US. Only Rogers (Canada) Can someone please help this newbie!
Thanks in advance for answering
AT&T WAP Settings
I figured it out since no one seemed to know. If anyone needs any settings for AT&T (US) here they are:
HTTP: localhost Port: 9090
WAP: 10.250.250.250 Port: 9201
Socks: 127.0.0.1 Port: 1080
Type is Socks 4
I created a new connnection called "MY connection Two" since the regular "GPRS connection" tab did not have a tab for proxy settings.

Sorry, I was away for a bit and would have answered if I had seen your request. The other parts I would add to your listed config are that the Access Point Name (APN) is:
Proxy
If you select Cellular Line (GPRS) as the transport, the dialing info will be filled in correctly by itself, resulting in something like "~0GPRS!Proxy" (not sure if that's exact, my XDA isn't right here. If for some reason you need to manually set a GPRS dial sting for ATTWS I believe it is:
*99*#
As opposed to to T-Mobile which is *99***2#
Thanks for answering Mad Max!!
Now if I can only get my Internet Explorer to work I would be all set!!!
Hi,
I'm an att sx56 user, flashed to t-mobile's 40016 for 2003. Everything works real nice but I can't seem to get the att gprs settings correct. Here's what I have,
For Modem Settings:
----------------------
Name: Myatt
Cellular Line(GPRS)
APN: *99*# ( i've also tried +0 ~GPRS!proxy)
username/password/domain all blank
TCP/IP: Use server specified IP address
Server: Use server assigned address
VPN Empty:
Proxy Settings:
-----------------
Localhost 9090
10.250.250.250 9201
127.0.0.1 1080
Socks4
Do you know if I'm missing anything or what I've got set wrong here?
Thanks!

The APN should just be "proxy" alone. All the other junk (+0~GPRS!) is stuff the system fills in when it displays the dialing status, but shouldn't be included in your entry in the APN field. You shouldn't need to enter the *99*# string anywhere either unless you need to establish your own dialing config for some reason.
Also, the fact that you're entering proxy configs in WM2003 implies that you're setting up you connection under the "work settings" section as opposed to the "internet settings", which is fine, just wanted to make sure that's what you intended. Under 2003, unless you need to set proxy settings for your specific needs, then setting the APN name to "proxy" and selecting "Cellular Line (GPRS)" as the modem is pretty much all you need to do.
I have done what you both have said and still NO LUCK! AHH ok here is all of my specs:
Siemens SX56:
Windows Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039
ROM Version 3.17.03 ENG
ROM DATE 5/15/03
Radio Version A.20.10
Protocol Version 324e4
Confirming you're using the XDA-Dev SP ROM 1.2 if so leave try leaving your "proxy" settings blank and see if that helps.
HTH
no tilde stuff
I have been trying to do this stuff for a while now....
I am having the "page cannot be found" problem.
ppcpe 2003
ROM version : 4.00.05 ENG
Radio version: A.20.10
protocol version: 324e4
I set up a new connection called My GPRS.
I have all the right proxy settings (I've been reading forums on this for weeks now) I put "proxy" in as my APN name. On the modem tab, i have
Name: My Connection 1
Number: proxy
I don't see the ~GPRSyadayada....just proxy.
I have the Network Settings using My GPRS connection.
Here's the cooky part...I have a Yahoo chat software package that works great! I can send and receive like it's going out of style. But I cannot get Either internet explorer OR ftxPBrowser to connect to any pages.
What's up here?

Yes I do have T-Zones. I had it working just fine on my Sony Ericsson Z600. But here are my settings according to what the MMS program asks.
Server Name: T-Zones
Gateway: 216.155.165.050
Server Address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
This should be correct, right?
Yea your settings are correct, the only explanation that I can give at this time is maybe there has been some unreported server changes at T-Mobile.
HTH
I have a i-Mate from PPCW.net. Let me confirm that the same settings
fail on mine as well. I had a discussion with my local T-Mobile store and
she updated the Imei number, and my unit now will tell me that I have an MMS message waiting. Just can't download or send it.
Thats no good!
For the hell of it why don't you guys download and install EzWAP 2.5 for Xda from Yorch's Web site and see if you can send/receive with it.
EzWAP 2.5 for Xda is located under "Software".
My EZ-Wap 2.5 settings

Hmm... This program costs $50 on Handango, but is free at Yorch's site?
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...=88958§ionId=0&catalog=30&txtSearch=ezwap
This is a legal posting of it on yorch.net?
-arebelspy
Strange the Submitted date is 10/13/03 and I've been using this program pretty close to a year now, so go figure!
Oh I see the $49.00 version is EzWAP 2.5 for Pocket PC Phone Edition Only.
And the difference is...?
The version that supports PPCPE only is $50, but the version that supports PPC and PPCPE is free? Huh?
Does the version you use (from yorch.net) work on WM2003 Phone Edition (i.e. an XDA II)?
Anyone know why they suddenly decided to start charging $50 for this?
Did it used to be available on their website free or what?
-arebelspy
If I'm not mistaken I originally got my free copy from o2.
Anyhow it was big news at the time so those who knew jump on it.
As far as to why they are charging for it now its the same reason AOL charges for AIM for the Pocket PC. Need I say more!
HTH
AIM on the PPC was exactly what I thought of when I saw it on yorch.net and handango as well.
Oh well, it seems legit enough, guess I'll keep a copy around. It'd be nice to know if the paid version has any differences between it and the free one (where we know AIM isn't different at all, lol).
So can anyone confirm compatability with XDA II?
Thanks,
arebelspy
received 3 Vodafone V1640's at work, and the little buggers don't have Pocket MSN installed, which means no MSN Messenger! have hunted around for the .exe but its no where to be seen
is anyone able to extract the necessary files to get Messenger working again? be much appreciated.
i'm quite surprised Vodafone havn't completed screwed the devices and put god awful themes/icons on them. the only things they do are add their own "inbox/sms/calender" icons to the Today screen which point to the same inbox etc as the default ones...
alex
Tell me what files you nedd and i'll try help
But i ask for a favour in return.
I have 02 xda exec in corporate mode. I have no connection settings for vodafone, I cant get mms working or nothing.
Id appreciate your settings.
I downloaded the latest rom from ftp and it doesnt put the connection settings into my exec, only puts in the mms settings under messaging/inbox, mms configuration
Ive tried allsorts of configurations to no avail. I just cant believe that the latest rom doesnt set up the connections automatically.
Voda Rom
Guys can you use vodafone live sucessfully on your universal, does it work with graphcs and live tv
Thankks
I cant get vodafone working full stop!
Cant find any instructions for connections that work.....
The Vodafone ext rom on the ftp doesnt set up connections after a hard reset
the bits n bats of info i pulled from posts here doesnt seem to work
theres no help on the vodafone web site bcos the VPA IV isnt available in UK yet it seems
Going around in circles, got an all singing/dancing device and I cant use it!
Voda
ok i will give you the settings that work for me now with vodafone
Go to start, settings, connections under isp add a new modem connection.
Select cellular line (gprs, 3G)
Call it vodafone internet
Access point name internet
user name web
passwordd web
that should give you a 3g internet connection, let me know how you get on
Cheers
Chris
is it as simple as that? there are no dns servers or anything?
Is there no modem connection under "My work network"
also under messaging>menu>mms configuration, could you give me these settings please?
Please Please if you have the time will you write all the settings down and where they are.
IE my isp, my work network, mms configuration, together with any dns servers/gateways etc
It Would be greatly appreciated.
BTW does your hard reset set up the connections to vodafone? if it does could you share your extended rom?
if you click on the signal strength icon then settings then band.... whats your setup in here?
sorry for pestering you with all these questions but im desperate to set this up, been messing about with his for a couple of days now.
BTW i installed the vodafone rom last night. Sure enough there are no messenger icons but if you use a thirdpary file explorer and browse to "\windows" you will find instmsgr.exe (this is messenger)
and
pmsn.exe, pmsnlauncher.exe & pmserver.exe (these are pocket msn)
I guess you could create shortcuts to these using something like resco file explorer and put the shortcuts in your start menu.
If these files are not present let me know, I can also copy you the shortcuts if your having trouble
I have a v1640, and have been wondering about pocket messenger.
Trying the above mentioned, i find that these files do not exist :S
Any help would be apreciated.
***UPDATE***
I called vodafone today, and after being bupmed about a bit, i was finally told that the v1640s should come with msn, as it is listed in the product description. I currently have a helpful tech looking into the options for me, and it would apear that some 1640s come with msn, and others don't.
I've got an XDA Exec which I use with a Vodafone 3G Sim, and the following settings work just fine for me:
Under Settings->Connections->MyISP I have the following:
Name: Vodafone GPRS
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access Point Name: internet
Username: [email protected]
Password: [email protected]
Under advanced, I have:
User server-assigned IP address under TCP/IP, and also under Servers.
All other entries are unchecked.
Under 'My Work Network', I have the following:
Name: Vodafone MMS
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: [email protected]
Password: [email protected]
Under advanced, I have:
User server-assigned IP address under TCP/IP, and also under Servers.
All other entries are unchecked.
If you now go into Pocket Outlook, you need to check your MMS settings. There should be an item at the bottom of the menu called 'MMS Configuration...'. Select it, and check the following:
Under preferences, I have the following checked:
Retrieve Messages Immediately
Download on home network only
Save sent messages
Under servers, I have an entry called 'Contract MMS', which has the following settings:
Server Name: Contract MMS
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port Number: 8799
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Connect via: My Work Network
Sending size limitation: 100K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Using these settings, everything I've tried works just fine.
Bagpuss.
And setting up mms helps us get MSN messenger how????? These are phone distroed by voda, and already have the mms stuff setup.....
The MSN app was removed at the request of Vodafone Global.
Vodafone have a new version of VF-Messenger comming soon which has connectivity with MSN (http://www.vodafone.com/article_wit...LANGUAGE_ID%3D0%26CONTENT_ID%3D261956,00.html)
The v1240 (tornado) also doesnt have MSN in the ROM.
The spec sheets have very recently changed to include the miss communication that the devices have MSN.
For what I hear we have not seen half of what Vodafone are planning for the windows mobile devices.
All sounds good.... however my problem is I need msn messenger now and not in a few more months time
REDMOND, Wash., and NEWBURY, U.K. - 30 June 2005 - MSN and Vodafone plan to launch the enhanced messaging service in several European countries before the end of the year.

After some tooing and frowing from department to department, i managed to get a nice lady in TS to credit the £10.99 it would cost for the msn download.
The words "Its not the price, its the principal. Several of your competitors offer this device with msn messenger on it" seemed to work.

Where can you download it from? Seems odd to pay for msn messenger. Would have thought they'd encourage you to have it (rack up the gprs)
You can download it from the microsoft mobile site/msn messenger site.
However, there is word in the pipeline of a vodafone messenger that connects to the msn messenger network.
someone help please ... PocketMSN, Pocket MSN please .....
Hi,
A month ago I bought a HTC9000 (T-Mobile MDA).
I heard on the forums thats it's a crime to own one withouth unlimited GPRS/UMT internet.
So I got Unlimited internet from Telfort (Netherland). It works on my old crappy ericsson telefoon that is to slow to even sms with (using old telfort gprs settings that I can't remember and read out of it). But I don't want to use that "phone".
Anyways GPRS won't work on my universal.
I use the following settings
APN: internet
USERNAME: none
PASSWORD: none
(As suggested by Telfort them self).
I use "dhcp?" to get the dns settings.
I have tried with proxy 193.113.200.195:8080 and withouth.
Nothing of that works on my universal.
I've got:
-rom 2.11.10 PDS
-radio 1.15.0
-Protocol 42.51.P8
-ExtROM 7.10.02 PDS
-WM6
I've also used various settings on the internet that include an username telfortnl etc. None of it works.
I've searched all day and can't figure out the problem.
Does any one know how I get my mobile internet to work?
P.S. Wifi works.
update:
A friend of mine changed the regional settings and suddenly it worked:S.
(also did a network search but that gave me the same network so I don't think that was it.)
Now I only have to get msn messenger through the proxy.
Figured out why msn messenger wouldn't connect.
Msn mobile messenger ONLY looks to the MY ISP network profile (it keeps looking at it even if you change its name).
I didn't use that profile as my internet profile but a profile that I added my self. So I thought msn would look to my (added) gprs profile (internet explorer worked with it).
But this is a typical case of Microsoft braking(this case it's own) standards.
So correctly configure your My ISP profile and things will work perfectly (if your provider allows non http traffic).
Btw. if you have the same problem but don't know which one is My ISP. It's the one where you can't set the proxy settings.
I have the same "Surf & Mail" from Telfort. I use the newest WM5 from T-Mobile (http://www.t-mobile.hr/firmware/UNI_TMO_TMO_HR_20041_200147_11700_WWE_Ship.exe) and the Extended ROM from Qtek.
ROM version: 2.00.41
ROM date: 08/08/07
Radio version: 1.17.00
I have no problems with the settings
APN: internet
USERNAME: none
PASSWORD: none
Click to collapse
If you want to use UMTS (Surf & Mail is 128kb) you have to call Telfort (1200) and ASK for UMTS. They only set it to GPRS in the first place.
