lowest clocking possible for htc prophet - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

greetings to all the masters here.. im sorry if this is a noob question, but i am currently using the battery status app. and while tinkering around, i found the cpu scaling function
and so i began tinkering somemore and thought that if i could scale downwards when the cpu is not used, i could save some precious battery life
and so i did it. the lowest i could get was 87Mhz but the screen kinda like flickers abit. i was wondering if this is safe?
thank u again masters..

Overclock questions?

Hey guys. Just need a little advice/help here. Im not new to android or rooting but i dont have a question for you guys. Im rooted my MT3G, Nexus and G2. I have need oveclocked. Since im really falling for my G2 after perm root I dont want to screw it up. Do you really see a performace difference with overclocking. And what would be a safe zone to overclock to but remain stable with overheating or risk of damaging any hardware. Thanks guys I did search but couldn't find a clear answer. Thanks again guys
yea bro real performance boost especially when im web browsing or playing games. i watch lots of flash vids. apps feel a lot smoother as well. i use setcpu it it all the way up and set to under clock as well serious batt life
so just set it all the way up? or is there a zone in setcpu to stay with in..thanks for the quick reply man appreciate it?
i guess the main thing im looking to gain is a little more battery life I noticed I run through my battery a lot faster on the sense rom then I did on cyanogen. Any one know how to create a profile to slow down the cpu when the scrreen is off?
Overclocking is generally very safe. Raising voltages is where things start to get dangerous though.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
You can set a screen off profile in setcpu. Under the profiles tab, add condition for screen off and set max and min clock values. I recommend using 100 as priority and set the values for underlocking per your liking. Seems to provide noticeable improvement in battery life.

doubt that, as this profile is not working with the G2.

Good OverClocking with SetCPU

what are some great overclocking profiles you have set with your setcpu? i tend to get great battery life when my phone screen is off, and i have the processor set just a above the minnimum for both the max and min. i was wondering what yall had in mind for great profiles? i want to have the speed, but dont wont the battery getting too hot either.

Overclocking ROMs heat issue?

I am going to be getting an Atrix in the next few days and will install the Aura ROM right off the bat, but im wandering, since it appears to use an OC'ing kernal, what effect will this have on heat and battery life? presumably negative, but how much so? i dont want another phone which heats up like mad, but i do like the look of the ROM. please help out an Android n00b
thanks
Just because it can overclock doesn't mean you have to. I use set cpu and keep mine undervolted and set to 1.1ghz. Idle around 30 celsius and when I game it gets up to 50 degrees.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
the atrix on stock 1.0 ghz gets REALLY hot so yea i would assume it would just get hotter MUCH hotter but you can get a setcpu and just set your processor down when you dont use it much or make profiles to automatically do it
great, so the rom just allows OCing, not forces it? thats good to know, thanks

it will automatically clock itself to 1.3ghz, you'll need a program like SetCPU or PimpMyCPU to set it to not OC itself.
i suggest SetCPU myself, it can be found on the market. i prefer buying it over getting it for free here on XDA, we gotta support our devs right?

Nexus 4 overheating issue

I know that overheating in nexus 4 is common problem, but today after installing custom ROM CyanogenMod 10.1 my phone has started overheating more quickly. Is anybody know any solution of it?

overheating i doubt, what was the cpu and battery temperature? just because it feels warm, doesnt mean its overheated. when it actually overheats, first the cpu will lower in cpu speed(safety), then if that doesnt help itll shutdown. is the weather around you warm btw?
+1 @simms22
Also, if it's really getting to warm your phone would run unstable.

Thanks for your replay, I still don't understand why my mobile has started getting warmer more quickly ever since I've installed custom rom. I've hardly played any graphics intensive game on it so far.
I don't know from where to know cpu and battery temperature. Do I need to install any application from playstore? Weather around here is warm. On average 35-40 degree temperature.
My phone CPU reaches 70˚C and battery 50˚C when driving in my car, charing with gps on a this time of the year(hot as hell here as well).
Everything seems to be find, didn't even turn itself yet so I doubt theres anything to worry about.
My gf forgot her phone in the car stand in the sun for a few hours, when she came back it wouldn't turn on until it was cooler so you can be sure your phone can take care of itself.
Maybe your governor was changed when you flashed the ROM, depending on the governor (like performance) your cpu clock speed may be increased more often then with the original governor.
You can check your governor with apps like no-frills cpu or setcpu and check the temperatures with cpu z

its easier to use an app for battery and cpu temp. being 35-40C around you, id expect the phone to be warm most of the time. anyways, after installing a custom rom your device spends a lot of time syncing stuff. so itll be a little warmer than normal. after about a full battery cycle it should stop, and will be a little cooler. also, a reboot after several hours after a rom flash should help a little too.
Ok, thanks for your quick response.

[Q] [L4-II] Weird Governor Behaviour

Hello guys, i have a small problem with my rooted L4-II, i've searched the web and the forums and i can't seem to find anything on the subject.
I noticed for the last couple of days that my CPU governor changes itself to "performance" whenever it feels like... I use SetCPU to manage my CPU and created a profile to try and force it to stay in "hybrid" (the default governor on this LG Rom), but it still happens.
I already tried other programs (Andromizer, Rom Toolbox, Antutu CPU Master), but the governor seems to have a will of its own and it randomly switches to performance by itself, changing back to the default "hybrid" when i set it again manually, and it stays there for a couple of hours (only to switch again to "performance" later on)
I've tried to find if this was related to some app, but nothing. I'm starting to think that the stock LG/MediaTek kernel has some weird bug that makes the governor switch when it detects a sudden demand for full CPU load, even if it's just for a few seconds. Just a guess.
Has anyone encoutered this problem? Any ideias? Any way to eliminate the "performace" governor from the system or prevent it from being set?
Thank You.
Hello mate! I'm sorry, my post may be won't help you much, but I wanted to share some of my experience too. I have unrooted, fabric LG L5 II phone. It gives me average battery life of around 2 days - 2 days and a half with heavy usage and up to 5-6 days with only 2G/GSM/SMS usage.
This is why I've never needed to change my CPU governor. Excuse me for asking, but what is your battery life and why have you decided to change your governor? In my case I don't need to think about it, don't know how it is with you.
My advice is to clean the cache of your device and if you have rooted it to try Greenify app. It is a new breed of Task-killer and may be it will help you reach better performance/battery life ratio.
Don't mind me asking, but do you have root privilleges on your phone? And if you have can you share your "rooting steps", because I want to root successfully my LG L5 II phone.
Cheers!

Hello there.
My battery life is very good, 2 and a half days minimum, and up to 4 days without charging, but that's not the point. I don't want to change the CPU governor, i just want it to stay in the stock setting, instead of changing itself to "performance" without me doing anything. The only reason i use a CPU manager is to downclock to 500Mhz when the battery is below 15% when i'm at work because i can't charge it there.
I've already cleaned cache and dalvik but all is the same.
I had a Xperia for 3 years and used a ton of different Roms, from 2.3.7 all the way to JB 4.1.2 and never saw such behaviour from the CPU governors.
I've rooted my phone using V-Root and MtkTools as suggested in a thread here on the forums made for the L5-II, it worked perfectly, it's the easiest way to do it.

Thank you for the information, JBolho! My previous phone is Samsung Galaxy Spica and I was using modes since forever, because my original Android was 1.6  and it was quite laggy on my phone. So I know what you mean.
I wish you good luck.
