[REQ] Auto-transfer pictures over Wifi when PC is turned on - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Tried searching but could not find anyone talking about this, so here goes...
Anyone know of an app that will transfer the pictures from the HTC Diamond to a PC when wifi is on and the PC is found?
Basically I am thinking that when the Diamond sees that it is on my home wifi, it will check to see if my PC is on. If it is, it will (max once per day) transfer all the pictures from the phone to a share on the PC, and then erase them on the phone. Even better, it would create a new directory in the share with todays date, and place the images there so you can see when there are new images.
Anyone heard of such an app?
/Soren

try DashWire

It's nice, but then I have to pull the photos from DashWire to my PC.
I really just wanted the photos from my Diamond to my PC without the need for an in-between step.

According to the manual, GoodSync only supports wired connections...

Exec REG Hacks + Lanching Network Apps

Received my Exec today, thanks to EVERYONE that has provided Reg hacks and advice on this excellent forum.
I've got the following questions...
1. I installed the Reg hack to reduce fonts from 900 to 700 and it appears to have taken effect but ONLY on the dropdown menu when within File Explorer, the smaller fonts appear nowhere else - I believed they would reduce/change the Start Menu's font?
2. When browsing a network drive share, is there a hack that will allow the Exec to launch the applications without having to copy them to the local Exec/SD card? For instance, I like to download CAB files on my desktop PC and access the share via the Exec to actually install them.
3. I had an XDA2s (still in posession) from which I've upgraded, I was able to bluetooth transfer all of my contacts across BUT whats the easiest way without using ActiveSync, to transfer my old/current Text Messages across?
4. I like web browsing and have great eyesight, therefore I'm wondering if there is a web browser for PocketPC available that will literally scale an entire website down to show on the Exec's display? I don't want it to 'adapt' the website, but literally scale it down! Anything out?
Appreciate all of your help!

Already there, hehe - back to my other points though, anyway that you can help? Especially with the text messaging and transfering the data store??
i run cab installers from network share over wifi, not had any issues with that, specially now that the cabs dont get deleted after install anymore, I am using resco explorer to do it tho, it might be an issues with the default explorer that stops you.
As for webpage viewing, i suggest the VGA have weve mastered.
As for text messages, i never keep them long enough.
Yeah, installed Resco last night and as you say I can now launch apps over the network, unsure why the standard File Explorer doesn't allow tht!
Text Messages are my next major problem, anyone else any ideas?

Micro Drive...data transfer problem!!

Hi guys and gals.
I only have 2 more issues with the Ameo at present, then I'm a happy camper.
1) Video playback (will start a new thread after some serious investigations and various setups have been explored).
2) This is a big one, but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm having serious problems moving large items of data to the MD via ActiveSync (AS). Not only is it damned slow, but it seems to start and then stop transfers of data if a file is big,...like a 700Mb DVD rip or even a 250Mb movie in any video format.
The only success I have had in that area is to transfer these files to SD card and then move it to MD afterwards...and that is evn slower than through AS!!
It is very frustrating for me as the 8GB is one of the major features for my intended use of the Ameo.
I am now trying to break down amovie into smaller chapters to see if I can transfer it that way, but this is ridiculous and should not be necessary. I've had a Micro Drive WM smartphone before but that was working just like mass storage device and gave no problems.
So I suppose the logical question is...is there any way to get the Athena to be recognized as a mass storage device? I've checked the CD's and there is no such software for it there. I've read the manual and that only states that data is transferred from PC to Micro Drive via useless Active Sync!
Hope someone else has a workaround for this, or maybe it's just my device or PC setup??!!
In any event there is another niggling problem in connection to this;
If moving large photo albums via Active sync, I have to make all files (hidden) to be seen in order to delete any 'database' file relating to the photos, else AS rejects the whole data transfer once it sees these automatically XP generated database files.
Once these files are deleted (do not re-enter the folder was you've deleted the database file else another one is generated!!) the transfer goes ahead smoothly...even if you have hundreds of photos in one folder.
Anybofy else experience this, or is it just me?

In the wm2003 environment, I used to have this utility called softick card export, whic allows the active sync to be bypassed and the unit recognised as a usb mass storage device. I used to port over my wikipedia (about 2.5GB in size for one sigle file) over with this.
However, my impression is that the WM5 version is not ready yet. I'm still looking for some equivalent product, or to wait for the WM5 version of softick.

Thanks for the reply eaglesteve, but we got that sorted a few weeks ago by using WM5torage. Not as good as the Softick concept (as it doesn't rely on AS drivers), but it will do for now, as some people have also reported problems with the card export software under WM5 based Athenas.

HELP: GPRS/UMTS webcam to ftp/web server

Hi, chaps. I have what I think is a rather unique problem:
Without going into much detail as to the why I need this, I'm just going to explain what I need the phone to do:
- be an all-in-one remote webcam
The phone needs to be able to sit on its own, take a pic at a given interval, and then upload that pic to an ftp/web server, using either UMTS or GPRS. Coolcam is able to take pics at set intervals, but as far as I can see, one is not able to set the exact path the pics are saved to, instead it has My Docs\Pictures and Storage Card\My Docs\Pictures and available paths.
I was hoping there'd be some way for me to either somehow find some setting allowing me save the files to a remote address (from Coolcam), or have another programme running in the background that would automatically watch for new files, upload and delete them from the phone.
So, does this sound possible? The phone is not going to be anywhere near a Wifi connection and most certainly not connected to a computer. As I said, this must be a standalone solution! Possibly solar power will be involved to keep the thing running, but that's not my main concern right now.
Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate any helpful feedback. Thanks a million!
Unless there is a prepackaged solution somewhere, I think what you need is a homebrew prog that takes the new picture and uploads it to the specific place you need it to be uploaded.
Thanks for the reply. I thought as much, myself yet, as luck would have it, I stumbled upon this piece of loveliness:

How cool is that?
Oh that is fantastic! I am now thinking that I may find use for this thing somehow.

Laptop + HD bluetooth problem

i have a Toshiba Satellite.. about 1 year long and i put a Kingston bluetooth USB on.. ive used it before with my Sony Ericsson and i had no problem but now that i try to connect with my HD it doesn't work.
my HD thinks it connected but my computer doesn't
i cant send files to the phone or anything at all.
its not even recognized
everything works fine if i use the USB cable the HD brought
do i need to update some kind of drive? or what?
anyone got any ideas?
Windows Bluetooth Protocols
Just an idea, but some phones use File Transfer Protocol on Bluetooth, however Windows Mobile devices use Object Push Protocol, adding this protocol onto your Laptops range of available Bluetooth settings, SHOULD allow you to transfer files between Laptop and Touch HD via Bluetooth. Had a similar problem with my laptop!
Hope this solves your problem!
"Once upon a time" in windows mobile 6 I was able to browse my phone through bluetooth connection.
Now with the Blackstone it appears to be impossible. There is no such option within the bluetooth settings.
i still cant get it to work.. what i did notice is that the Image File Transfer Protocal (for pictures and basic types of files) isn't available on the HD.. maybe thats why it doesn't work.
EDIT: has anyone gotten their phone to work with bluetooth? to send files? like a picture? or a new problem you just got? or a powerpoint? ..
im so lazy to hook up the cable every time.

i can send and receive files to my device and have them stored to my Bluetooth Share folder on my storage card. i exported the registry changes and dll from my Orbit2. you can get the dll file here and the registry changes here. it's probabaly best if you follow my instructions from here. once you've made the changes, soft reset and you should be able to send files to your folder of choice without prompts. there are probably other methods of accomplishing the same task, but this has worked for me since i've had my HD. oh yeah, the disclaimer: you assume all risk for anything that happens as a result fo the import and file copy to your device.
i rather not go through all that.. dont want to mess up anything. leaving it pretty much stock. best way to go. besides adding programs (real ones) haha.. only thing i have is HD Tweak from here.. i dont evne have gyrator.. not really needed. thanks anyway. ill just use the cable.
if you're not an experienced WM user, i can understand not wanting to follow the detailed instructions. they were created for the person who requested the info. really, your not installing software, your copying a (certified windows mobile dll) file to your device and importing a registry setting. it's basically the manual steps a cab file would execute. you copy the dll to your windows folder, use PHM or Resco Registry to import the registry settings, soft reset and then try to send a file to your laptop. that's it.
For me ActiveSync over Bluetooth between the Toshiba with Bluetooth dongle and the HD works out of the box, with standard Vista Bluetooth drivers (not the Toshiba ones). Key was to start the Sync from the HD (after pairing the two devices of course), it would never connect when trying to start the sync from the Desktop. To start Activesync, go to Settings tab in the TF3D UI, and use the first option "Sync Data" (Daten synchronsieren on my German ROM).
ill see what i can do later.. i got finals >< thanks guys

same here.... this method is to transfer files via Bluetooth/OBEX to a folder of your choice without prompts and without having to connect to WDMC or AS...

Transferring files via WiFi?

At home I have a network set up involving multiple computers. I connect to my WiFi with my HD2 at home and was just wondering if I'm able to wirelessly access my phone using WiFi - as if I was looking at a Laptops storage via WiFi (And able to copy files etc).
It would be a hell of a lot easier to transfer files..

I've not used it myself, but it looks fantastic (and exactly what you're after )
I've also seen it suggested that you can browse shared folders with TotalCommander, but again, it's not something I've actually done.
Good luck
i have got reply from htc uk today that hd2 doesnot have n wireless hardware ,any confirmation
AFAIK you can access shared folders even with standard file explorer, vie menu/goto/open path.
